In this episode of The Pulling Curls Podcast, Hilary Erickson and guest Kim Fidler share their best Disneyland tips for a spring break trip. From utilizing Genie plus and Lightning Lane strategically to prioritizing children's preferences and making the most of dining options, this episode is packed with valuable insights for a magical Disneyland vacation. Plus, don't miss the exclusive discount code for Getaway Today to help you plan the perfect Disneyland trip. This episode is sponsored by my Disneyland Day Planner: https://birdsend.page/forms/844/5FY54uqZxv Today's guest is Kim Fidler from Get Away Today. She has been with the company for 20 years helping families make vacation memories, and has been to the Disneyland resort too many times to count. Be sure to mention that you found them through Pulling Curls and use code CURLS10 to save $10 on your upcoming trip! Links for you: Genie+ Tips Timestamps: 00:00 Podcast sponsored by Disneyland day planner, featuring Kim. 03:25 Frequent park visits, early mornings maximize time. 07:32 Maximizing park time with Genie+ was crucial. 11:40 Easier ordering with specific planning and availability. 13:30 Set a phone alarm for Disney's 2-hour rule. 15:46 Book special experiences to break chaotic routine. 19:13 Prioritize popular rides to avoid closures. 23:22 Expect the unexpected and go with flow. 27:55 Enjoy the trip, stay relaxed, future topics previewed. Keypoints: Genie plus is recommended for maximizing time at Disney parks, especially during busy times and for half-day visits, allowing access to popular attractions without long waits. Pre-purchasing Genie plus at $30 can be a good investment, particularly during peak season, and strategic planning is essential to make the most of the Lightning Lane system. Families with very young children or those who prefer slower rides may find Genie plus less suitable, but it can be beneficial for those prioritizing high-demand attractions. Research and strategy are crucial for utilizing the Lightning Lane system effectively, with only one ride allowed per attraction. Special experiences like princess breakfast or Droid Depot visits can provide a break from chaotic rides, enhancing the overall Disney vacation. Timing late 2 PM lunch breaks to rest and hydrate is advised, and exploring cheaper sit-down restaurants like Lamp Light Lounge and attractions outside the park, such as Downtown Disney, can be worthwhile. Listening to children's ride preferences and being flexible with their choices is important, as simpler activities can create lasting memories. Utilize time-saving methods like mobile ordering, which allows for setting later return times for specific items and accommodating allergy adjustments. Strategize Lightning Lane bookings, consider the 2-hour window rule, and prioritize attractions that sell out quickly, stacking subsequent bookings for a more efficient park experience. Booking with Getaway Today offers benefits such as cheaper hotel rates, white glove service, personalized assistance, and specific room requests for families with young children, and listeners can use code "curls10" for a $10 discount on their trip. RX Series Pilot, R-3X has an interesting history in the Star Wars Galaxy. He was at some point a pilot of the Star Commuter 2000 using the name RX-24, piloting the Lothal to Garel route. He then went on to work for Star Tours piloting the Star Speeder 3000 until he crash-landed on Batuu where he was reprogramed into a DJ, and at the same time had his appearance slightly altered by Mubo, the proprietor of the Droid Depot. Mubo, who had a debt to settle with Oga Garra, bartered the droid to settle the debt with Oga and since then R-3X has been known as DJ-REX, providing the musical entertainment inside Oga’s cantina on Batuu. Occasionally, especially upon startup, he has a flashback to his prior programing, I meant to do that, or Light Speed to Endor anyone??? This video is an hour-long look at DJ Rex in his now surrounding inside Oga’s Cantina on Batuu, and can you believe… it’s not the full Loop!!!! I hope you enjoy and be sure to subscribe for more.

Happy Thursday, August 8th Everyone! Weather in the parks today will be partly cloudy with a high of 84 degrees. Happy Anniversary Bambi! It’s back to Batuu in Episode 50 of Dateline Mousetalgia, as we explore the experiences of building a droid at Droid Depot and a lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop - Handbuilt Lightsabers! Plus, updates on Soarin’ Over California, the Main Street Cinema’s pop-up shop, and merchandise for The Lion King’s 25th anniversary!
In today's episode, Jordan and Erin talk about their experience at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge on opening weekend. Listen to learn more about Oga's Cantina, Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run, Savi's Workshop, Droid Depot and everything that Star Wars Land at Disneyland has to offer. Until next week, May the Force be with you!
Welcome to Mickey Waffles! An Irish podcast about all things Disney - parks, movies and merchandise. Sinead and Kate are both Disneyland Paris Infinity Annual Passholders so expect there to be a keen focus on that. This week's episode we run through the news announced for Disneyland Paris including a discussion of the June pin releases, the delay to the Dumbo refurb and some new information about the Walt Disney Studios expansion. We also chat about some new Christmas items coming to Walt Disney World. We wouldn't be Disney parks fans if we didn't cover the opening of Star Wars Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland Resort in California. We go through Smugglers Run, Savi's Workshop, the Droid Depot and of course Oga's Cantina. Let us know what you think about Batuu by sending us a DM on Instagram. Check us out on Instagram @MickeyWafflesPod for daily Disney content.
Bright suns, listeners! We’re live from the edge of the galaxy in Episode 47 of Dateline Mousetalgia! In this week’s episode, we share our experiences on opening day (opening morning!) of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort, from trips to Oga’s Cantina and the Droid Depot, to piloting the Millennium Falcon! We’ll go shopping in Black Spire Outpost’s outdoor marketplace and check out Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, as well as some of the eats at Ronto Roasters and Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. We’ll discuss our first impressions, observations, and tips for navigating the new land, and will also share a few hidden gems we encountered! We’ll go undercover with the Resistance, take fun photos, and learn the lingo in Batuu! Buckle up for this week’s episode-- may the force be with you, and have a good run!
Disneyland's Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opens in a matter of weeks and we couldn't be more stoked! May The Fourth has always been fun to talk about, but come the last day of May, history shall be made. A land that has taken years, if not DECADES, to conspire now takes up a good chunk (14 acres) of the Northwest portion of Disneyland Park in California, USA. "Star Wars Land" as many have come to affectionately call it, will be the gateway to Savi's Workshop where you can build your own custom lightsaber! More about that robot/droid life? The Droid Depot will get your nuts, bolts and gyroscopes adjusted and may send you on your way with a brand new toaster-sized robotic friend. Don't forget to say "hi" to BB8 for us! If you're into the eats - Oga's Cantina, Ronto Roasters, the Milk Stand and Docking Bay 7 will square you away with meats, cheeses and that Blue Banta Milk that is truly out-of-this-world! If you don't mind a few popcorn kernels stuck in your teeth, pay Kat Saka's Kettle a visit for the sweetest, most savory treat in the System! But Wait! You can't parade around Black Spire Outpost in those blue jeans. Nope, not that Off-White hoodie, either. Supreme fanny-pack? Toss it. Once you've made the call on whether you are Dark Side/Light Side, you're going to need to look the part. Zip in to First Order Cargo and proclaim your allegiance. Foolish enough to go with the light side? Then Resistance Supply will certainly square you away with a finely tailored Tomb Raider looking getup, complete with an artisan leather thermal detonator satchel! Alrighty, your 4-hours at Black Spire Outpost are coming to an end... BOOM!!! Millennium Falcon's don't just fly themselves! get over to Sugglers Run and do the most good! Fully functional and responsive controls surround you as you careen through galaxies once only seen in the movies. Well, the movies and Star Tours. If you can hang in there, towards the end of the year you JUST MAY be able to rise up against the resistance in... well, Rise of the Resistance! Here you'll battle the First Order in a visually captivating, heart-pounding environment. Sadly, innovation and technology still need to catch up with Disney Imagineers' ideas - hopefully sooner rather than later. If none of that sounds interesting enough to give this podcast a listen - then maybe a little Bob Iger Vs. Abigail Disney in the Twitter ring will! Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger pulled $66,000,000 this past year. Abby doesn't think he deserves it - and while she is probably right, Disney as a company defends Bob's take-home pay by stating that it is "90-percent performance based." Iger's impressive Disney Decade has brought our $24 per-share holdings out of the red and into the $125 range, sure, but when the going got tough, didn't he stop working out? No, he didn't. He still cranks out 4am cardio sessions on the VersaClimber. Haven't been on one? Try it and see if you can walk the next day. Don't forget to leave a comment - good, bad, or ugly - we'll take em all! Photo Credit: LUCASFILM/WALT DISNEY PICTURES
