Episode 10: Inglorious BasterdsRelease Date: 2009In this episode, we discuss the ‘Glory' of the movie ‘Inglorious Basterds'.This is a 2009 alt-history war film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. It stars Brad Pitt, Christoph Waltz, Michael Fassbender, Eli Roth, Diane Kruger, Daniel Brühl, Til Schweiger and Mélanie Laurent.Inglourious Basterds is a firm favorite with both the hosts and Christopher Waltz's Hans Landa remains one of their favorite villains. Waltz's Handa has gone down in movie history as one of the most iconic characters, sweeping all the acting awards that year. Tune into the episode, where the hosts tell you why this movie is rewatchable even after so many years and cannot stop mentioning Waltz/Handa every 5 minutes of the episode - because every favorite scene and dialogue is incomplete without Waltz's reference. Synopsis: In Nazi-oc cupied France during World War II, a plan to assassinate Nazi leaders by a group of Jewish U.S. soldiers known as the Inglorious Basterds led by Lieutenant Aldo Raine played by Brad Pitt coincides with theatre owner Shosanna Dreyfus's vengeful plans for the same. Melanie Laurent plays Shossana who had witnessed the slaughter of her family by Colonel Hans Landa played by Christoph Waltz. As the relentless executioners advance and the conspiring young girl's plans are set in motion, their paths will cross for a fateful evening that will shake the very annals of history.Favourite Scenes: Opening Scene - Waltz sends a chill down your spine. Hands down one of the best opening scenes in movie historyStrudel scene : Waltz meets Shosanna. This scene gave rise to many theories - Did Handa recognize Shosanna or not? This week, Anna and Oli are joined by CS alumni Colin to talk Tarantino, and discuss Inglorious Bastards (2009). Shoshanna, a French-Jewish dairy farmer and the sole survivor of her family, is hunted by Hans Landa, a quintessentially evil Nazi officer. Now the proprietor of a small movie theatre in Paris, an opportunity arises for her exact revenge when the Nazi party hosts a high-profile premiere at her theatre. Meanwhile, the Americans have finally joined the fight, and an elite squad of Jewish-American soldiers, led by Lt. Aldo Raine, are enlisted to hunt down nazis, which they do in extravagant and horrific Tarantino fashion. Want to be on an episode of the Cinema Scum Podcast? Welcome to the Munsons at the Movies podcast. Each episode we delve into the filmography and impact of a randomly selected actor. In this episode, we explore the career of Christoph Waltz. Best known for his roles as Dr. King Schultz from Django Unchained (2012), Col. Hans Landa in Inglorious Basterds (2009), and Zohen Leth in The Zero Theorem (2013), Waltz has brought us some of the best on-screen characters we've seen since 2009. Joined once again by Mark Gehrke, we discuss Waltz's opera background, his propensity for playing great villains, rehash the Inglorious Basterds vs. Django Unchained debate, and finally squeeze in a plug for Turquoise Jeep after 75 episodes. How does Waltz rank on the Munson Meter? Listen to find out.
Join Alex and returning guest host Jason Spiegelman as they discuss a one of Quentin Tarantino's classic westerns... set during World War II, and in France, Inglorious Basterds (2009). Rather than naming specific psychological principles in this discussion, a focus is on the characters, their motivations, and the scenes in which those motivations are readily apparent. What does it mean to express unfettered glee at the death of Nazis? Why would a German soldier really think using the wrong number three means spies? And why is Hans Landa one of the most terrifying movie villains in a good decade or so?

Quentin Tarantino is one of the most recognizable director working today. From the non-linear storylines, stylistically excessive violence, satirical subject matter and being littered with repetition he has created his own genre of cinema. Today I talk with a fellow cinephile Abinash Baral about our love for Tarantino's films. Specifically about Inglorious Basterds and it's villain Hans Landa. In the words of Lt. Aldo Raine: 'You know somethin', Listener? I think this just might be my masterpiece.' Arrivederci !!
On this inaugural episode of Kinetic Impressions we discuss Inglorious Bastards. The self-proclaimed Masterpiece by filmmaker Quentin Tarantino. We discuss the aspects of Hans Landa and the way that Christoph Waltz portrayed a character of both depth and intention. And the ways Quentin Tarantino wove together a story that is both an allegory for the World War II and a direct representation of the wars war Dynamics. Overall a fantastic film and one that we enjoyed re-watching.

Ben Phillips & Matt Waters present 25 of their favourite movies from a given decade, kicking things off with Volume 1: 2000 – 2009. Matt HATES three things: 1) Quentin Tarantino films. 2) War films. 3) Long films. So as you can imagine he's having a great time this week, while Ben is as giddy as Hans Landa. Can this movie stuffed with phenomenal acting performances do anything to change Matt's mind? Who cares? Let's kill some Nazis! Music courtesy of Goldblume
Comedic World War Two. Sarah Watt, William Chen and Jeremy Downing discuss two films that focus on Nazi-occupied Europe during World War Two that have a comedic or satirical edge: Jojo Rabbit (2019) and Inglourious Basterds (2009). We begin by discussing the situations and ways we first watched Inglourious Basterds, highlighting key reactions we had to the film the first time and upon rewatching it. We then move into a discussion of Jojo Rabbit, beginning with a comparison of music between the two films and then progressing into a chat about the film generally. We unpack the way that Jojo Rabbit plays with comedic moments, while not underplaying the horrors of the regime and war, as well as thinking about how the film connects to other movies. We celebrate the character of Col. Hans Landa and the work of Christoph Waltz. We talk about the tension in Tarantino films and how editor Sally Menke's work contributes to his films' confidence in tension. Our discussion then moves back to Jojo Rabbit and how it deals with serious moments, as well looking at how successful the satirical Hitler scenes were. We finish our discussion by exploring the performances in both films and highlighting key actors.

Quentin Tarantino’s films seem to excite and divide audiences with equal fervor. His 2009 World War II masterpiece, Inglourious Basterds, was met with approval, but not universal acclaim. The film’s breakout star, Christoph Waltz, won an Academy Award for his role as SS colonel Hans Landa, but Basterds lost out in the Best Picture race to another war movie, The Hurt Locker. Dealing as it does with the theme of fighting fascism by any means necessary, Tarantino’s sixth film feels more timely now than it did ten years ago. But does this equate to a film that is more divisive a decade later? Join Beef, Wing, and Lobster as they go back to once upon a time… in Nazi-occupied France. Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert! These discussions will be spoiler filled and may explicit language, so consider yourself warned. For more geeky podcasts visit GonnaGeek.com You can find us on iTunes under ''Legends Podcast''. With another Quentin Tarantino film hitting theaters this summer, we look back on Inglorious Basterds. It's been 10 years since we were introduced to Hans Landa, Aldo Raine, Bridget von Hammersmark, and Fredrick Zoller. How have our views on the film changed over the past decade, and how has the culture at large pivoted in how we talk about Tarantino? Brock and Kiel dig into the details, sharing some of their favorite scenes, stories, and moments from the film and where the movie ranks amongst Tarantino's other work. They also break down Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and discuss the director's penchant for re-writing history, for better or worse. Listen in!
In honor of Quentin Tarantino's 9th feature film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood being released, Ryan welcomes Coulter back to the show to analyze the 5 best scenes from his movies. This was not easy, as there so many great scenes to choose from. Where does the introduction to Hans Landa rank, or the introduction to Pulp Fiction or the introduction to Reservoir Dogs? We also talk about which actor or actress we would love to see in a Tarantino movie that has not already been in one. Great show, jam-packed with references and quotes from some of the best that QT has to offer. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/double-down-trent/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/double-down-trent/support

Join us in talking about the 2009 Tarantino film Inglorious Basterds! This movie's title is spelled wrong because Tarantino is an artsy edge-lord and you can't tell him SHIT. We talk about WW2 movies, Pulp, Hans Landa, The Office, and of course our boy William Bradley Pitt. Brad Pitt. Is this the best movie of the whole podcast? Maybe. Listen and let us know what you think!
Jay ( (http://www.twitter.com/annavisfun) and try to decide whether the script is actually good or just run-of-the-mill, contemplate why Brad Pitt always plays the same type of angry white guy, and wonder if anyone else but Christoph Waltz could have played Hans Landa. Support this podcast

Atten-SHUN! It's the last week of Tarantino Month, so that means one thing, and one thing only: we're here to discuss Inglourious Basterds, Tarantino's charmingly misspelled WWII epic. Points of interest for the boys include Brad Pitt's ridiculous accent, the puzzling nature of Christoph Waltz as Hans Landa, the film's Spaghetti Western stylings, the greatness of Mélanie Laurent, and what Tarantino has to say about the power of cinema.
