As we plunge into season 9 we take a look at a very well crafted by dark movie by Quinten Tarantino. He challenges us with the face of evil and those who have come to vanquish it - yet, are their methods any better (or maybe even worse) than those they have come to vanquish.?! In a word, do two wrongs really make a right!

After Italian producers balked at director Enzo Castellari's idea to remake The Dirty Dozen, he raised the money himself and hired American B-movie titans Bo Svenson and Fred Williamson to lead a group of military prisoners across Nazi German territory (really the backlots of Cinecitta and surrounding areas) on a trek to freedom into Switzerland.  In 1978's The Inglorious Bastards, Castellari uses all the staples of Italian 70's schlock cinema (boobs, blood and bad dubbing) to great effect in this rousing and silly war film.   Dan and Vicky discuss the film that so inspired Quentin Tarantino he bought the rights to the title to use for his own 2009 Nazi war film.  Along the way, you'll get conversations on saving movie theatres, Sip and Paint and 80's actress Lisa Eilbacher as well as find out what a Disney bitch is (hint: Vicky is one).  You'll also hear talk of some recently seen like Beverly HIlls Cop: Axel F, The Seven Samurai in 4K, A Quiet Place: Day One, Will and Grace reruns and Fly Me To The Moon.  Check us out on all our socials:  hotdatepod.com FB:  Hot Date Podcast Twitter: @HotDate726 Insta:  hotdatepod

The Claw's Corner With Rich Cyr

On this episode of The Claw's Corner Rich sits with actor Bo Svenson! From Bo's IMDB:A multi-award-winning writer and actor, Bo Svenson was born in Sweden - the only child of a Jewish, Russian-born big band leader mother and a father who was the Swedish King's personal driver and bodyguard. At 17, he emigrated by himself to the US. After serving six years as a US Marine, he was pursuing a Ph.D. in MetaPhysics and paying the rent with odd acting gigs when he was hired to replace Paul Newman as Robert Redford's co-star in "The Great Waldo Pepper". This led to a starring role in the CBS TV pilot "The Freebooters" - and his being cast as "Big Swede" on the TV series "Here Come the Brides". His role as "The Creature" in the 3-hour TV movie "Mary Shelley's Original Frankenstein" brought him great acclaim - and was soon followed by other major starring film roles, including, but most notably, as: Sheriff Buford Pusser in "Walking Tall Part II", "Final Chapter: Walking Tall" and the "Walking Tall" TV series, as the fun-loving offensive lineman Joe Bob Priddy in "North Dallas Forty", as the heroic airline pilot in "The Delta Force", and as Clint Eastwood's rival in "Heartbreak Ridge". During his fifty years in Hollywood, he has worked with over 100 Academy Award winners/nominees. Since appearing in Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill" and "Inglourious Basterds" (the latter being Tarantino's version of one of his favorite films of all time, "The Inglorious Bastards" in which Bo starred), Bo has focused on his first love - writing. His screenplays have won and/or been selected more than thirty times by major film festivals. An accomplished athlete, he has competed in world championships in judo and in Olympic selections in yachting. A 5th degree black belt in judo and a black belt holder in karate as well as aikido, he is past Chairman of USA Judo Masters and has been inducted into the Martial Arts Masters Hall of Fame. He is active in community service causes and was Sports Commissioner at the 2015 Special Olympics World Games at his Alma Mater UCLA. Since 1975, he has been President/CEO of MagicQuest Entertainment, a California motion picture development and production company that also provides consulting services to actors and script advice to writers. He is also owner and CEO of the British Columbia film and television production company, CanAm Film Corp., and the Norwegian corporation, Den Norske Arv A/S. Two individual filmmakers take centre stage in this episode of Film Stories, starting with Quentin Tarantino. For a decade, he was talking in interviews about making a World War II movie called Inglorious Bastards, but he swerved making it for a long time, in favour of the Kill Bill movies and Death Proof. He argued he didn't have writer's block: he just couldn't stop writing it.He changed the title to Inglourious Basterds, set himself a firm deadline, and started shooting just eight months before the film was due to debut at the Cannes Film Festival...In the case of Jim Henson, he had dreams of taking The Muppets to the big screen, and as they were proving to be a sensation on television in the 1970s, he got a handsome budget to do so. The challenge? Production on The Muppet Show was ongoing, and the three month shoot would take The Muppets out of a controlled studio environment for the story for the first time.Stories of both films are told in this episode... We've fallen behind on editing these Wasteland episodes so we're extending the Appreciation Month topic into the first couple weeks of December as well. So, we hope you don't mind a few more trips heading out into the Dystopian fueled nightmares of the Apocalypse. It's a month long celebration of all things Post-Apocalyptic so you can expect marauders, scavengers, mutants and mayhem, cool car chases, fights over water and fuel, and battles of epic proportions. Coming up next in the dystopian and action mayhem in our 5th episode is an Italian double feature of 1982's "1990; THE BRONX WARRIORS" and it's 1983 sequel "ESCAPE FROM THE BRONX" from legendary director Enzo G. Castellari (Warriors of the Wasteland, Inglorious Bastards, The Last Shark, Keoma , The Heroin Busters and dozens more!)  These films tell of the desolate future of 1990 where the Bronx has become an all out warzone ruled only by the street gangs that still inhabit the crumbling city. At the center of this mayhem is the unofficial leader of the gangs Trash (portrayed by the late Mark Gregory from the Thunder trilogy and Delta Force Commando). In supporting roles we have Fred 'The Hammer' Williamson, Vic Morrow, Henry Silva, George Eastman and many others. These two movies have to be seen to be believed. Our deep dive discussion on these Italian actioners is headed off by the duo of Cameron Scott (Post Mortem America 2021) with friend and frequent collaborator Scott Tepperman (The Cruel Summer Trilogy). Join them and buckle in because it's going to be a wild ride!    "Allow me to correct you, Mr. Clark - I'm worse than anyone."

Confused Breakfast is continuing to kill it with awesome content about the movies I loved growing up. Check them out! Hunter2 was odd, but enjoyable. I loved the characters and even the guy playing Hitler was a good bad buy in the show, you really didn't like him, which is the sign of a good actor. Loved seeing how they took a real story and fictionalized it into an Inglorious Bastards version of a show. Look up "Operation Paperclip" to find the real info behind the US bringing in former Nazi's to further our scientific advancements in this country. I will predict a future project that will tackle the humanistic reasoning behind that decision, not just the pursuit of advancement. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/joshua-peek/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/joshua-peek/support
