In the Hindu tradition there is the stage of life called Vanaprastha. It is when one retires from many family and professional responsibilities to dedicate more time to spiritual advancement. Our guest on these 2023 episodes is not Hindu, but Unitarian Universalist. Rev. W. Fred Wooden, and he is expressing this epoch in his life by pilgrimage. He has traversed the globe, honoring multiple religious traditions as he walks the well trodden paths of our ancestors. Fred is a longtime friend of mine. At one point in his ministry he had a radio show of his own: Faith & Reason. I was a frequent guest. When I was we called the episode "Common Freds." Much of our conversation here revolves around a recent pilgrimage he took in Japan. His reminiscences of that experience is recorded in the book "Basho and I Take a Long Walk."
This episode is for YOU! In this Solo Episode, I:
"The winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell." Mt 7:27 NKJVToday about 50 percent of all marriages end in divorce. Sadly, that's true whether you're a Christian or not. Sometimes the reasons are circumstantial, such as a job layoff or a home foreclosure. Other times it's relational, such as a betraval of trust or an addiction to drugs and alcohol. If you're committed to rebuilding your marriage, you must learn how to reconnect and work to restore what you once had. In order to accomplish this, you must both be willing to enter into the process and commit for the long haul. For the next few days, let's look at four key areas. First, you must know the other person. It's a mistake to try and figure out your spouse, put them in a box, and label them for the remainder of their lives.Knowing someone is an art in progress, not a static science with unchangeable data. You must view your mate as a mystery who requires ongoing scrutiny and lifelong learning. The Bible says, "Treat your wife [and your husband] with understanding as you live together" (1Pe 3:7 NLT). In order to restore your marriage, take a new look at your partner. They may not be who you assumed they were-but neither are you. So you must allow room for each of you to evolve, and resolve! And be sure to include God in the process. Jesus said that a house built on the solid foundation of God's Word will stand strong in the storm while others around it are falling apart (See Mt 7:24-27). So today begin the process by recommitting to God-and each other.I Take a new look at your partner.Support the show

What is self care? Society makes us think that it's long bubble baths, meditation, and peace. While all that is nice to have, self care is something I do just for myself, to help center me, and bring me back to myself. As a mom, wife, friend, small business person, I often get pulled in too many different directions, and I forget who I am. Crafting, on my own and for myself, is how I get back to being ME. Selfish knitting is my jam! We can get so burned out on making a life for others that we can often lose ourselves in the making. I invite you to FIND yourself in the making. What do you love about the items you're working with? Is the yarn color and texture something you enjoy working with? How do the hooks or needles feel in your hand? How are you sitting or standing? Is your body comfortable? What's the temperature around you? What does your environment sound like? Being present in the moment of your creating can become a self care practice. Why is it called practice? Because it's not self care perfection! One thing I've realized is that that time will never be mine unless I TAKE it. Unless I CLAIM IT as MINE. For example, my knitting time is in bed after I've put the girls down for bed. They will come in every 5 minutes needing something, and I tell them, "figure it out for yourself, I'm off the clock." I'm setting that boundary with them, which is so healthy for them and me. It shows them that I have boundaries that I won't allow them to cross, and that they can set their own boundaries. For me, it comes down to intentionality, communication, and presence in the time that you have. Not everyone can take hours of time alone, but can you take 15 minutes to practice being present, and to let your guard down to be yourself? Sometimes this can bring up uncomfortable feelings, I really understand this. Therapy is a helpful tool in this case. I'd like to invite you to share what you've done to practice self care in the coming week on Instagram. I'm working on my third Sockhead Slouch Hat, in Yarn Experiements Monkey Sock yarn, Supernova colorway. Grenadierby Alfred Edward Housman (1859-1936) The Queen she sent to look for me, The sergeant he did say, “Young man, a soldier will you be For thirteen pence a day?” For thirteen pence a day did I Take off the things I wore, And I have marched to where I lie, And I shall march no more. My mouth is dry, my shirt is wet, My blood runs all away, So now I shall not die in debt For thirteen pence a day. To-morrow after new young men The sergeant he must see, For things will all be over then Between the Queen and me. And I shall have to bate my price, For in the grave, they say, Is neither knowledge nor device Nor thirteen pence a day. This is a public episode. © artwork by Jim aka Bock&Fuchs ➲ contact ✉ info@bockundfuchs.com Bambi Rambo presents Per Anhalter Garbicz 2020 [ Live - Special ] BIO: The traditional progression from club warm-up to international talent is a rite of passage for most DJs. But in Chloe's instance - the opposite is true. She first came to prominence on the global burner festival circuit under her Bambi Rambio alias, making her debut at South Africa's 'AfrikaBurn' in 2017 before going on to perform at Nevada's 'Burning Man' a year later. She became a staple artist of London's Burning Man community soon after. Decompression parties and grassroots fundraisers were where she earned her stripes, before honing her craft across the capital's club circuit in late 2019 at venues such as Mick's Garage, The Steelyard and many more besides. These experiences helped mould Bambi's sound into what it is today. It feels at home in all environments: whether that be an urban warehouse or the ethereal playa of Burning Man. Regardless of the setting, her ethos behind the decks remains the same: to take those listening on a musical journey and deliver a deeply pleasurable experience in the process. • What are your musical influences? I Take influence from a variety of things, I love to dig in all directions and collect old songs as well as new ones and to merge genres that would not necessarily belong together and always keep it on the uplifting and energizing side of things. I am mainly into house and deep house these days but had times where I was more into the techno and progressive side of the spectrum. I like to vary and reinvent my sound pallet over time :) What is your musical background? My upbringing was steeped in musical heritage. I trained as a classical flutist from an early age, opting to drop the instrument for electronic music in my twenties. Such a transition was kind of ingrained in my family heritage - my parents had been creating mixtapes since my childhood, making tracklists from their vinyl collection and then burning them onto CD for home-listening. It has always raised my curiosity and interest in how you really create a whole soundscape from a bunch of tracks :) • What makes good "afterhour"? A good after hours is all about the enveloppoing and evolving atmosphere. You had already a wild and uplifting party but you are not yet ready to call it a night so you go to an after hour party. And you want to prolong the goodness of the night and for this you need a fun and happy crew and a warm and almost hugging music at first. Then when the sun rises you can go to the meditative type of music and sort of dreamy floaty vibes - like time gets suspended and all. Then slowly as the sun rays get brighter and warmer, you can increase the energy and add more groove and vocals and bring in the audience to dance more and more and basically wake up again for another day of dancing :) • Do you have any thoughts you would like to share about your set? Starting off on a reinterpretation of a famous French poem "les fleur du mal" this mix then drives on to all dimensions of the holy house music galaxy...

I Take the Symptoms of Those I Touch At 04:10 PM 1/8/03 -0500, Carole wrote Howie: I just got in, and due to one appointment (the one with the Starkey's) running two hours over, it has thrown my entire schedule two hours late. Just the stress of worrying that you will give me your cold is more than a weakened body needs to be dealing with. The added effort of "entertaining" me seems self defeating. I haven't had a cold in over 6 years, (I know because Don was still around) maybe longer, but I do take on the weakness and sometimes even the symptoms, of people that I touch. It is gone in a few hours, but depending on their level of suffering can leave me quite debilitated until I have time to meditate and shake it off. Since you are not last on my list of things to do today, there isn't much sense in me taking that chance, when it isn't good for either of us. Tuesday sounds like fun. I put it on my calendar. Update me with when and what to wear. I love lesbians. Every one that I have known was smart, beautiful, hard working and devoted. I might have been one if not for my public awareness for how that could negatively impact my family, Jamie especially, and WOES. One of my most satisfying relationships was with my "wife" Mary. That is what she called herself, although we weren't lovers. In retrospect, I don't know why we weren't. She did my cooking, cleaning, shopping and took care of the kids, the house and the office. Let me know when you are feeling better and if there is anything I can do for you in the meanwhile. 08 Jan 2003 16:40:32 -0500 To: Carole From: Howard Baskin Subject: Re: tonight Fortunately I've continued to feel nothing more than a scratchy swollen throat and low energy, maybe because I've thrown most of Nature's Harvest Market into my body in the last 24 hours and made a point to nap a bunch. I was just about to get my tool belt on in preparation of your visit :-). However, for your health as well as your scheduling stress it is better to do a rain check. You continue to come with such fascinating new wrinkles to your thinking and past. And that within the context of a level of openness that I don't think I have ever seen anyone match. It occurred to me today that one of the reasons you think I'm so peaceful is that your company seems to make me that way. My friends were talking about a new Mediterranean restaurant on Westshore. Not sure of time yet, but try to resolve so you can plan. Please do not feel you have to violate the diet. If you like, you could eat here first and then nibble from my plate or not eat at all at the restaurant. Totally up to you. No one will think about it. - Howie I've been writing my story since I was able to write, but when the media goes to share it, they only choose the parts that fit their idea of what will generate views. If I'm going to share my story, it should be the whole story. The titles are the dates things happened. Looking for inspiration to write a song? Hear how the pandemic has sparked something good. New projects have been unearthed. Could you turn a bedroom into a recording studio? Yes! We discuss being in a band versus solo work and the unfolding of Corrina's voice through time. Plus! Corrina takes beautiful photos and succumbed to the demand for people begging for her photos and has begun creating unique gift packs to share her photography with you. Listen in for inspiration. Maybe there is some new way you could share your work with the world this year? Corrina Repp captivates with her music, crafting enchanting songscapes that activate all your senses. She plays the electric guitar and is a singer/songwriter unlike any other. She is an actress who was featured in 8 Portlandia episodes, and several independent films and she is a phenomenal photographer and wonderful person to be around. A little bio about her from www.allmusic.com. Written by Katherin Fulton“Specializing in sparse, fragile songs that favor the electric guitar, singer/songwriter Corrina Repp emerged from the music scene of Portland, Oregon in the late '90s. After releasing her fourth album, 2006's The Absent and the Distant, she focused on the indie rock band Tu Fawning (2007-2012) before reviving her solo career with The Pattern of Electricity in 2015. Repp has also acted in films and on television, including a recurring role on IFC's Portlandia.Settling in the Pacific Northwest after frequent childhood relocations, Repp began her career as a musician thanks to a part-time job. While selling band merchandise online, she connected with the Decemberists, who were so impressed by her songs that they recommended her to Hush Records. The label released her debut album, A Boat Called Hope, in 1998. The CD-R EP The Other of Mud materialized a year later. Repp followed up with the albums I Take on Your Days in 2001 and It's Only the Future in 2004, both on Hush. After touring with the Decemberists, M. Ward, and Cat Power, among others, Repp released The Absent and the Distant on Mark Kozelek's Caldo Verde label in 2006. Putting her solo career on hold, Repp and musician Joe Haege formed the band Tu Fawning with Toussaint Perrault and Liza Reitz in 2007. They released a pair of albums for the City Slang label (2010's Hearts on Hold and 2012's A Monument) and toured throughout the U.S. and Europe. Fancy Scientist: A Material Girl Living in a Sustainable World
Within the past decade, there have been several prominent issues where the public has showed distrust in science and the scientists behind the studies: climate change, evolution, vaccines, and now COVID-19 and wearing masks. This week on the podcast, I talk about what science actually is. We’re taught in school that science is about memorizing facts or taxonomic names (at least in biology). But science is really about asking and answering questions! These questions, and the studies attempting to answer them aren’t done in isolation. As a scientist, it’s incredibly difficult to fabricate data or come up to erroneous conclusions and get away with it. Science is full of checks and balances, and while it is always evolving, there are definitely well-studied areas of research where the results are clear and there is a consensus among scientists. But this is only half the work. Or maybe even less than half. Without the public understanding the science, our work doesn’t mean much. For example, we have lots of studies and climate scientists agree that humans are causing climate change at an accelerated rate, yet if the public and government officials don’t trust those studies or the scientists, we won’t be able to implement changes to mitigate the impacts. Therefore science communication is of utmost importance. In the second half of this podcast, I transition into how scientists are communicating their research and how I am shifting to a new career entirely dedicated to science communication. Most scientists think you can only work as a science communicator for an organization, but I’m sharing how I’m doing it with my blog. Next week, I talk to Chris Cloney, who has made an entire business out of science communication. In this podcast, I: * Take you through what it’s like to conduct a scientific study * How scientists check each other’s work * How studies are published in journal * Why scientists are communicating their science * How scientists can be communicators * My transition into a career in science communication and how you can do the same. I’d love to meet you. Would taking Cortisol Manager or Maca offset my coffee habit? That was the real question from a reader. Do you have a coffee habit? Love it and don’t really want to give it up? Out of control a coffee habit could elevate your cortisol. Cortisol and insulin can combine forces for belly fat deposit. You may not have to kick that habit entirely but here’s how to decide. Caffeine is an ergogenic aid. For that reason caffeinated gels and gu-type supplements (which I don’t recommend) are often used during races to supply not only sugar but give a legal kick of energy. A little caffeine timed right can give you a fat burning boost, and help you exercise harder or longer without it feeling so. Test yourself though, because some feel anxious and jittery instead of having a better workout. And only do that in the morning. If you’re exercising late in the day… I hope it’s not intense then anyway for hormone balance … the caffeine is more likely to disrupt sleep, something you and I don’t need. Can I Do Something I Know Isn’t Good for Me as Long as I Take a Fix for It? Here’s the thing… if you appreciate the world of functional medicine and functional fitness and getting to the root cause of why you’re sick/don’t feel good, or why a movement causes you pain… then you’ll appreciate this. Why do you want or need the coffee in the first place? Before I go too far here, people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. Cliché yes, but I love my… sometimes coffee more often matcha, too. In fact, I’ll share my two clean triple screened matcha source so you can avoid the mold, and heavy metals found to be significant in most matcha on the shelves… and my mushroom coffee from Foursigmatic plus a 10% off code as a subscriber of Flipping 50. My Coffee Habit And my coffee habit has been known to get out of control. I’m not actually seeking the energy – I’ve got that, but it is such a habit while I’m working the first few hours in the morning that I can easily be reaching for a third mug and not even realize it. But if you are reaching for it because you don’t have energy, you are trying to avoid eating and – in which case if you are fasting you need to be sure it’s black coffee and clear tea, and check to see how it affects your blood sugar levels. Even black coffee if your cortisol is already whacky might increase blood sugar. It certainly could if you’re having more than two cups and having them all morning into afternoon. Regardless, it’s acidic and too much of that isn’t good for your gut. The Question So, should you do something that you know overall is not good for your health, and can you just cancel it out, or erase it by taking Cortisol Manager, or something like Macapause (which I will also link to in the show notes? I recently did a podcast interview with Mona Fahoum about Femminssence’s Maca products for women in midlife. It’s been a lifesaver for me. My energy and morning mojo were back within a week.) Maca is an adaptogen – meaning it is not a hormone but supports natural hormone balance as works with your body on a as-needed basis. Perfect. I’m not opposed to taking bio-identical hormones. But keeping them on a low-dose and allowing my body to do what it can naturally are the way I want to go. What It’s Not I don’t think it’s like a contraceptive though, you know? Or like the morning after pill. If you know you shouldn’t be doing it anyway, figure out why you are doing it. Drinking tons of coffee is not overall good for your health. If you choose safely sourced coffee or matcha some is fine – actually has health benefits. But more is not better. You wouldn’t take two doses of vitamins or of a prescription med on the same day. We used to think of exercise and eating this way too, didn’t we? I can eat donuts or an extra serving of chips because I workout all the time. Or, have the dessert, you can spare the calories. Without including the damage the sugar, chemicals, and wasted calories have done, as we know now this thinking led to a lot of unhealthy active adults. One good habit doesn’t cancel a bad habit the way your daily habits (epigenetics) matter more than genetics. (By the way matcha has caffeine in it too, but there’s are autoimmune benefits and it has a combination of alertness with chill-pill effect that is distinctly different from the anxiousness sometimes experienced from drinking coffee). A Better Way to Energy than Your Coffee Habit So, let’s get you energy from sources that offer benefits. Drink more water- hydration will keep your coffee habit in check. Exercise regularly – shorter bouts more frequently for energy boosting. Kick those long sessions to the curb. Especially now that a strong immune system is just about the healthiest thing you can do for yourself. Brad, with a sobriety date of August 31, 2018, shares his story. Paul talks about the ‘now’ and ways we can ground ourselves while we find ourselves taking this thing one day at a time. At some period in our journey we will find ourselves logging our days in our tracker like it ‘ain’t no thing’. Then there are other days when we wake up and keeping the mind in check can be a constant struggle. Paul shares some of his own favorite personal techniques that he uses to ground himself. Acknowledge what is really happening. Think in terms of “we” rather than “I” Take your shoes off and walk barefooted outside. You are nature…take time to go out in your natural setting, nature. Slow down. Do not multitask Pay close attention to the body Go from saying, “I can get through this’, to saying, “I AM getting through this”. Go with the gut. Last one is I tell myself “Dude, Paul…this isn’t you!” If you have a grounding technique that you use, that isn’t listed here, email it to Paul and put “Grounding Techniques” in the subject line. SHOW NOTES [12:10] Paul introduces Brad Brad is 31 years old and is from Fort Wayne, Indiana. He is a traveling salesperson and sells health care products to providers. He is married and has a daughter. For fun he likes to golf and recently has joined a kick boxing gym. [14:15] Give us a little background about your drinking. Brad was a good kid all through high school. At 17 he had a job as a barback where he learned a lot about alcohol. He was pretty much alcohol free all through college. When he was 20 years old he went to England and that is when he started to drink, not having too many sober days while there. Later, at 21 years old, he is back in the states working as a resident assistant and is spending as much time as he can at the bar. Later he moved back home into his parent’s basement and was sneaking off to the bars, rather than spending time with them, as much as he could. This is where he met his wife. They got married and, on their honeymoon, because he had had so much to drink, he almost drowned himself. He continued to drink the duration of the honeymoon. Fast forward to his wife being pregnant with their daughter, a lot of changes taking place in their relationship and he is no longer the focus of it. After his daughter was born, he was laid off from his job. He spent a lot of his nights, while helping care for his daughter, drinking heavily. In January of 2018 his grandfather committed suicide. Brad found another job and then there was a spiral from June to August, 2018. August 31, 2018, he got pulled over for drunk driving. He hit his bottom in a jail cell. The next day his dad took him to his first AA meeting. After appearing in front of a judge he his charges where dropped. [19:40] Talk to us about a couple moments where the writing was on the wall (before your sobriety date). He missed a flight home because he was drinking in the airport bar. Spending too much time drinking after golf. [23:15] Did you ever try and quit before your sobriety date? He tried to moderate, but never felt that the problem was great enough to quit. [26:25] Walk us through the 3 options you gave yourself after your DUI. Laying on the cot in jail, after just calling his wife who was driving all over Fort Wayne looking for him, he realized he had 3 options. He could run, he could figure out his life was meaningless, or he could get help. So he picked getting help. Getting to a meeting the next day and, if his wife didn’t divorce him, he could live in his parent’s guest bedroom until they figure it out. For 2 months after that he was going to AA meetings every day, making living amends to his wife every day, and going to work. On day 4 he found the Recovery Elevator podcast. [31:25] Talk to us about burning the ships with your mom, dad, and wife. His wife was pissed, his parents were in shock. He told them how he missed flights because of drinking, and how he needed to have a drink to help him sleep. His parents were in tears, but supportive. His wife told him that if he ever drank again, she was taking their daughter and would be gone. [33:37] How did it feel when you let your parents and your wife know what’s going on with you? A small weight was lifted, but there was an extreme sense of guilt. It felt freeing but he also knew he had a lot of work to do. [34:45] Talk to us how the charges were dropped and then the bomb you got about the charges on January 31, 2019. He appeared in court, expecting the worst, and was told ‘case dismissed’. That was not one of the options he was prepared for. His attorney told him to go live his life. His new life was to not touch alcohol, continue with his sobriety and his meetings, and that’s what he did. Sometime later he got a call from a friend, who is an attorney, that infored him that his case was back up. His case had been refiled. He was booked, back in and out of jail, sober this time. He was ready to accept responsibility. He called his employer and told them that he may need something to ‘blow into’ so he can drive. He realized that he may lose his job over this. He was fighting and was doing it sober. [39:26] I feel like this is going to be a good thing for you Brad, how do feel about it? Brad agrees. It has made him live day to day. It has made him mad at alcohol. He has stopped focusing on himself and more on his wife. It has helped him get through his 4th and 5th step. [41:45] How did you get and stay sober? He did a lot of candy eating. He did his best at doing the 90 AA meetings in 90 days. He tried not to put any pressure on his wife to forgive him. He tried to show what he wanted through his actions and not his words. He goes to a therapist/marriage counselor. [43:47] What do you feel you were using alcohol to cover up? He says he’s awkward and that there was some abuse growing up. Possibly some depression. Mostly it was just to find connections with other people. [47:50] Rapid Fire Round When was your ah-ha moment? When I was in an airport boozing with a pilot. What have you learned about yourself on this journey? That it is OK to ask for help and OK to be vulnerable. What is you plan in sobriety moving forward? I want to be a resource to help people. In regards to sobriety what’s the best advice you’ve ever received? Stop kicking your own butt. What parting piece of guidance can you give to listeners? Never be afraid to reach out, you are never alone. You might be an alcoholic if... If you switch from Maker’s Mark to vodka on the back nine because you think you play better with vodka in your system than whiskey. 节目组: The World Says 世界说 节目名称: Talk with foreigners scientificallyS: Dear audience, you are listening to is the world says from the VOE foreign languages station. This is handsome Sherlock. I: And this is cute lovely Iris. I:After last week's program, have you guys know more about foreigners?S:Yes, this week we are going to learn more about foreigners. Come on, I can't wait for no longer, your quiz question.I:As you said,Sherlock, I have a question to ask you first. According the last UK census taken in 2011, what percentage of the British population speaks a first language that is not English?A) 1.7% B) 7.7% C) 14.7%S: That's an interesting one. My first guess is c) 14.7%.I: enhen~we'll find out if you are right or wrong later. S:(打断) Iris, Consider the times you've hopped on a subway, boarded a plane or entered a waiting room. I:Chances are, you probably avoided engaging with any fellow commuters or patients. So, never…S: Yes, But contrary to what we might think, we'd be happier if we did strike up a conversation with a total stranger.I: really?S: Really. In a study, commuters in Chicago were asked to either talk with a stranger on a train, or sit quietly alone, or just do whatever they'd normally do on their commute. Then, they responded to a survey about how they felt.I: how does it going?S:Turns out those who engaged with strangers had the most pleasurable experience and those who remained solitary had the least enjoyable experience.I: Wow ,unbelievable,Why?S: Well, according to a follow up study it's because we think, wrongly, that strangers don't want to talk with us.I: Right, maybe we should practice reaching out-who knows, commuting could become more enjoyable.S: That's good. Now, let's play a game named Communicate with the British need to step by step startling! step by step startling, which means need to be careful.I: What does it mean?S: just guess what the British thinking is.I'll ask you first: When the British says "I hear what you say.”I: They mean "He accepts my point of view."S: no! It's “I disagree and do not want to discuss it further." I: oh, their perspective is so strange. Well, let me text you: When the British says "With the greatest respect... “What do they mean? S: They mean "He is listening to me."I: no no no! This means “I think you are an idiot"S: An idiot! Ha-ha the greatest respect which means an idiot! It reminds me of another habit of talking to the Englishman.Listen, when the British say "That's not bad.” what does they mean I: en… They mean "That's poor."S: oh, come on, with the greatest respect. the mean of not bad is “That's good."I: wait, with the greatest respect? Are you using that word to laughing me? Let me ask you the last question. Ready?S: With the greatest respect, I 'm ready.I: When the British say "That is a very brave proposal.” …S: (打断)They mean "You are insane. “Right?I: Right! Well, you really know much thing.S: It seems that I know much, you should call me Master Sherlock.I: Save your laughing for the end of the race.S: ok, When the British say "I almost agree. " what does they meanI: ha-ha this is easy they mean "I don't agree at all." S: ya, that's not bad.I:Take that! When the British say "Very interesting.”en? The answer?S: Well, "They are impressed."I: obviously, they mean "That is clearly nonsense." You shall do more research on it.S: Seems that died to a tie! Have to say, you've done a lot of work.I:Sherlock, let's leave some questions to our audience, to let them join in~S: ok, the first one is-When the British say "I'll bear it in mind.” what does they meanI: Sounds like I will remember it forever! But it's not that simple. And the second one is: When the British say "I'm sure it's my fault.” what does they mean?S: I have to say, these questions are really interesting. If you want to check your answer, landing VOE foreign language radio station WeChat public number VOEradio, select our program, then you will see the answerI: that's Right. S: But now Iris, I need to know if I got today's question right.I:Yes. I asked you, according the last UK census taken in 2011, what percentage of the British population speaks a first language that is not English?S:I said 14.7%.I: You were wrong. The census found 7.7% per cent of people in the UK have a first language that is not English. That's 4.2 million people.Well, that's it for today.S: At the end of the program, we give you a few words to talk to foreigners.听你的!你说了算!You are the boss!毋庸置疑No doubt about it.我是认真的。I mean it.与您合作很愉快。it's a pleasure working with you.钱乃身外之物。Money will come and go.我非常想见到你。I've been dying to see you.很高兴与你聊天。Nice talking to you.一切顺利。Things couldn't be better.S: Sounds simple, right? That's all for today's listening. Happy New Year! Please join me for this afternoon's broadcast as I declare 2015 as the year that I "Take the First Step" to getting my finances back in order. 2014 has taught me that waking up with what appeared to be a simple 'neck crick' can become a life changing and financial stability altering event. It was such a devastating event that it affected my health, my employment status, and my mental stability, including putting a financial strain and unfortunate stress on my wife, family and friends. Therefore, I would like to introduce to you my "MYPF Learning Program" which teaches how to use varying levels of Microsoft Excel concepts to build a customized tool for managing and tracking monthly expenses and income. The goal of the program is to provide individuals with additional skill sets toward becoming a more effective, efficient and productive user of technology. Successful understanding of the training program instills individuals with the ability to use, manage and which translates into increased employment, career advancement opportunities, and individuals better equipped to becoming successful business owners and entrepreneurs. My vision is to provide individuals with the necessary and essential skill sets and information become technologically self -sufficient. Individuals will then possess the ability to quickly put into practice the skills and knowledge gained as a result of my project-based training programs and services, such as the MYPF Learning Program. #MYPF2015
Everyone’s a winner baby thats no lie! But what the hell is going on with the Biggest Loser. Break all the rules! Fat shame the participants then break them physically and mentally and provide them with horrible nutritional advise. And this is just the season premiere! I have to rant because everything we hold true in our industry is being bastardized. On one hand the show is doing great things by helping the participants lose enormous amounts of weight and inspiring others to get off the couch. On the other hand it is scaring the crap out of people who might of thought about getting off the couch and getting a trainer because they think they will be yelled at, cry, puke in a bucket and be carted off in an ambulance! I watch it like a car crash. Hand over my eyes, looking through my fingers, waiting for the next person to get spit out the back of the treadmill. So forget about being the biggest loser, what does it take to be a winner? Winning is all about getting off the couch and trying. It doesn’t have to be physical, it can be anything that you have to make a decision on. Should I or shouldn’t I? Take the easy road or the hard road? If you do what feels right in your gut and makes you push yourself outside of your comfort zone, then you are a winner. The participants on the Biggest Loser are winners! I just wish they demonstrated some safe and effective ways to help these obese individuals instead of trying to kill them for our viewing pleasure. You asked for it and I am giving it to you! Hope you enjoy the podcast! #OverDeliver #Undeniable #CoachGlass
