For the Glory KC is back with the 123rd episode of the show!Sporting Kansas City came back to life on Saturday night. When it looked like they were dead and destined to extend their 10-game losing streak, they clawed back for a 3-3 draw against Minnesota United. A draw isn't a win, but it's a step in the right direction. That first point of 2025 also keeps them out of the basement of the league (on goal differential, but it counts).Sheena and I work through our thoughts from the game. We talk about John Pulskamp's performance (and awful new scar). We also talk about the performance of Robert Voloder, Daniel Salloi being a spark (and giving the team wings), Memo Rodriguez, Dejan Joveljic's stunning goal and of course all the bad that led to Minnesota being up 3-0 in the first place. Overall, let's hope this is some positive momentum for Sporting KC as they host LAFC next week. And let's hear it for Kansas City weather. Wait five minutes, right? Sleet. Snow. An Orange ball. Wild times. In the SKC round-up, we talk about more signings coming to Sporting KC, Dany Rosero's injury situation, Ian James getting an important international call-up and Memo expecting his second child. Finally, the KC Current do what they do and play beautiful soccer to start the 2025 season. In a single game, they have more points than Sporting KC and it felt like more great chances created. From the glorious goal and hair of Temwa Chawinga, to the golazo of Michelle Cooper and 'the best version' of Debinha, the team showed up at Saturday's opener against the Portland Thorns. Also, we have KC Current injury updates for Bia, Gabby Robinson, Alex Pfeiffer, Regan Steigleder and Mallory Weber's situation with the team. Plus, the team made a new signing. In the Digital Crawl, we touch on a few more topics, including:SKC II vs. Des Moines MenaceFelipe Hernandez's returnTony MeolaAD Franch's new teamAnd an NWSL rebrand in BostonHere is a rundown of topics (and approximate start times):SKC w/ a wild 3-3 Draw against Minnesota United - 3:16SKC round-up - 35:23KC Current win big to start 2025 - 41:25Digital Crawl - 1:03:00Upcoming GamesSKC II vs. Des Moines Menace - Wed. Welcome back folks, to a mid month musical adventure with a band I adored back when i discovered them in the 90s. That band is Cell. I spoke with guitarist Ian James about the break up and the reformation of sorts and then we get stuck into the meat of the conversation. A Universal horror movie from back in the 30s no less. THE BLACK CAT. Can you believe it?CELL 'Free People'
Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, wherever you may be, and welcome to an Extra Interview of the Directed by Dean podcast. Today, I'm joined by a man who made his debut in one of the most iconic series in television and started his acting career with successful producer Mindy Kaling. Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to welcome Ian James!
For the Glory KC is back with the 110th episode of the show. Sporting Kansas City got their offseason started with not one, but two signings. The club added two 16-year-old Homegrown players in defender Ian James and goalkeeper Jack Kortkamp. We learn a little about the new signings and talk about where they fit into this ongoing roster build. Any conversation around these signings is colored slightly with the ridiculous compensation being paid to Minnesota United. MNUFC shut down their Academy, leaving their players nowhere to play. James and Kortkamp, among others, ended up in other MLS Academies. Sporting KC had to compensate Minnesota for their Homegrown rights at the time, then again when they signed them, and they had to give them a sell-on fee if they are sold to another club. It's an absurd amount of compensation for a team that literally shut down their academy. In other news, earlier today, Sporting KC CEO and President Jake Reid was named MLS Executive of the Year. The reactions online are what you would expect. We get into why he earned that award, including all of his accomplishments over the last few years. And this can't be said enough, he DOES NOT make soccer decisions. If you are unhappy with the product on the field or the roster, blame Peter Vermes (and now Mike Burns). If you are unhappy with the coaching staff, blame Mike Illig. However, if you are unhappy with the gameday experience, fan relations, etc., that rolls up to Reid. Don Garber also gave his annual State of the League address. We cover a few highlights: Leagues Cup may be down to just 18 teams in 2025 (Garber wouldn't comment) MLS will up the number of teams in the US Open Cup after only having eight this year MLS Roster Rules don't appear to be changing And the fall to spring schedule is still on the table for MLS The KC Current also got their offseason moving with the re-signing of Nichelle Prince. It will really kick into gear in the coming days with all NWSL roster decisions due by 5:00PM CST on Tuesday the 10th of December. Claire Hutton was also up for US Young Soccer Player of the Year and eight (!!) KC Current players were on the Guardian's list of the best players in the world. In the Digital Crawl, we touch on a few topics, including: An update on an unlikely Sporting KC rumored signing LA Galaxy defeated the New York Red Bulls in MLS Cup KC Comets lose their first game of the season MASL are holding most of their playoffs in San Diego FIFA is considering a 48 team Women's World Cup Kansas City are getting two more USL2 teams Plus, a potential USL1 team in Springfield, MO Here is a rundown of topics (and approximate start times): Sporting KC make two signings - 3:44 Jake Reid wins Executive of the Year - 15:08 SKC Expansion Draft Protection Lists - 29:29 Bonus Listener Q&A - 51:44 Don Garber's State of MLS - 1:00:37 KC Current signing and updates - 1:06:22 Digital Crawl - 1:10:21 As a special gift to For the Glory KC listeners and KC Soccer Journal readers, Backheeled dot com is giving away 30 days of their amazing, independent American soccer coverage for free. For the Glory KC is back with the 109th episode of the show. It's been quiet on the Sporting Kansas City news front, but that doesn't mean there aren't SKC related topics to discuss. We take a look at the biggest needs for Sporting KC in 2025. Obviously, the first topic of conversation was around the roster itself. There are just 19 players signed for 2025, with the Ian James announcement still pending. FWDs: Pulido, Salloi, Agada, Afrifa, Vargas, Thommy? MIDs: Radoja, Davis, Memo, Bassong DEFs: Rosero, Fernandez, Voloder, Leibold, Ndenbe, Shelton, James* GKs: Pulskamp, Schewe Beyond the roster itself, there are issues around fan experience, front office building and more to be accomplished before boots hit the field for the season. Then, we switch gears and take listener questions. One big theme was "trust" in ownership and the coaching staff to lead Sporting KC forward. Are the owners truly investing? Is Mike Burns right for the job? How has Peter Vermes remained in charge when so many other teams have moved on from their coaches? (We came up with 10 coaching changes this offseason already off the top of our heads). Then we get a little broader and talk careers in journalism/broadcasting and the state of club soccer in Kansas City. There was no KC Current news this week but, in the Q&A we did get a Vlatko Andonovski question, so they still made an appearance. In the Digital Crawl, we touch on a few topics, including: KC Comets season started perfectly! MLS Playoffs Ilie Sanchez and Kei Kamara are without a team Is the Leagues Cup format changing? S3E41 - For the Glory KC is back with the 106th episode of the show. This week, there is very little Sporting Kansas City in the episode, but they always find their way into the show, simply for comparisons sake if nothing else. Plus, I ran into Graham Zusi at the KC Current game, so we have to talk about that! Instead of SKC, this is a KC Current focused episode considering they just won a home playoff game in the NWSL for the first time in a decade (and that was FCKC). Kansas City hosted the North Carolina Courage and pulled out a 1-0 win on an 8th minute Temwa Chawinga goal. To break it all down, Xander Kennedy joins the show this week as one of our resident KC Current experts here at the KC Soccer Journal. He and I go through the changes to the lineup and if it was the best path to victory. We break down the team effort that led to the Chawinga goal and find a few unsung heroes on that play. The game wasn't one way traffic either, as NC had some big chances, including the wide-open miss by Alene Gomes and the goal that was called off for a foul by Manaka on Almuth Schult. Speaking of Schult, we both sing her praises as she's in the 99th percentile in some key goalkeeping stats. And the topic of protecting Temwa had to come up after the referee let her basically be abused throughout the match, something that didn't go unnoticed by Vlatko Andonovski. It led to an interesting scuffle between Bianca St. George and Ellie Wheeler after BSG taunted Temwa after hacking her to the ground. Xander and I also share some Graham Zusi stories, talk about Inter Miami being bounced from the MLS Cup Playoffs and the rest of the NWSL playoff matchups. In the Digital Crawl, we touch on a few topics, including: Ian James and Jack Kortkamp get callups for SKC Jim Curtin is out at the Philadelphia Union While Bruce Arena is in over at the San Jose Earthquakes Plus, the USL Super League, USL Championship and USL League One all get into the show Here is a rundown of topics (and approximate start times): KC Current win a playoff game - 1:58 MLS Update - 1:06:30 Digital Crawl - 1:13:14 Upcoming Schedule: KC Current @ Orlando Pride, Sun Nov 17th at 2:00PM CST Sporting KC and SKC II seasons are over... S3E39 - For the Glory KC is back with the 104th episode of the show. Sporting Kansas City's offseason got underway this week with two big chunks of news coming out. First, the MLS Players Association released the final 2024 salary information much later than in previous years. That meant we found out the salary of new signing Joaquin Fernandez, an increase in compensation showed up in the numbers for Alan Pulido and a new signing was leaked out. Ian James, a yet-to-be-announced Homegrown signing for Sporting KC is set to join the team at just 16-years-old. We're excited for Ian, but also want to temper expectations a bit for such a young player to make an immediate impact. The other info came in the form of Vermes' first press conference after the season ended. There were a lot of insightful things said which can give a clue to what is coming in the next few weeks and years. A few stand out topics include: Sporting KC taking their time with the current roster announcements. A heavy use of the word "rebuild" by Vermes. The main priority remains an attacking midfielder (#10) with a 'Pulido level' spend. A snippet about the formation of the future. And a hint at more Homegrown signings and potential roster rule changes. There were also a handful of dates that came out around Sporting KC's 2025 season starting. We know MLS play will begin on the weekend of February 22-23. We also know that the CONCACAF Champions Cup (CCC) draw will take place December 10th where Sporting KC will learn their first opponent. SKC could be playing as early as February 4th! What didn't make it into the podcast, yet again, was our Fantasy Sporting Director discussion. Next week (probably) we'll get into who should stay and who should go from the 16 eligible players. Not to be left out, the KC Current won their second trophy of the season. This time, the much more prestigious Summer Cup was lifted on Friday night in San Antonio in front of a meager crowd. KC had to work their way through a competition featuring all the NWSL teams and many of the Liga MX femenil teams. Kansas City defeated NJ/NY Gotham in the finals, but the game, much like the initial tournament, came during an international break. Gotham were particularly devastated with injuries and absences, but the Current were shorthanded too. Temwa Chawinga scored two more goals, bringing her total in all competitions to 23 for 2024. The KC Current also announced a new contract for Vanessa DiBernardo that runs through 2026 with a mutual option for 2027. Plus, it was leaked that options were picked up for 2025 for Bia Zaneratto and Regan Steigleder. In the Digital Crawl, we touch on a few topics, including: A potential fall through spring MLS schedule starting in 2026 Two USWNT wins during the break The US U-17s advancing to the World Cup semifinals San Diego FC being tied to Manchester City star Keven de Bruyne Bruce Arena potentially headed to the San Jose Earthquakes and a WNBA team maybe coming to KC. Here is a rundown of topics (and approximate start times): New Sporting KC salary release and a signing - 4:12 Lots of Peter Vermes quotes - 24:44 KC Current win another Trophy + Roster News - 54:24 Errors and Corrections - 59:15 Digital Crawl - 1:00:16 Upcoming Schedule: KC Current at Chicago Red Stars - Sun. Ian James CEO of Silverbullet Data Services #SBDS says Google's decision not to deprecate the third party cookie is Positive for their Business. Ian James says: “What Google came out with today is saying is they're not going to deprecate the cookie. They're going to take a different route to providing privacy safe browsing environments, and their suggestion is that they will look to do pretty similarly, actually, an easy comparable is what Apple have already done. Apple has set the bar very high; they go as far as to say that privacy is a fundamental human right. Whenever you're on safari, which is Apple's browser, or in the Apple ecosystem on your mobile device, then by proxy by design, then you have to consent to be tracked. Therefore, Apple has already done that. As you said, there are other browsers in the market like Mozilla and Firefox, and so forth, so more than half the market now pretty predominantly would say that cookies are deprecated. So Google's decision today is certainly a positive one for Silverbullet in the sense that they will give back that choice to consumers, but at a browser level. So if you don't want to be tracked on a website that will happen now at the Browser level, not at the website level. That's their suggestion. That's what they've told us today in the news. That means that Google will effectively be falling in line with the kind of privacy standards that Apple already deployed, and a large part of the industry. So that's a very positive move forward for Silverbullet. Given the fact that we are all about consented data, all about 1st party data data. That's about the customer. Why? Because that's what our clients want to use to get better marketing return on investment”.

The appellant, Trevor Ian James Lindsay, is a constable with the Calgary Police Service. While processing an arrestee, an altercation occurred between the appellant and the arrestee that left the latter with serious injuries. The appellant was charged with aggravated assault under s. 268 of the Criminal Code. At trial, the appellant's defence included s. 25 of the Criminal Code, which protects peace officers from liability related to their lawful use of force. The trial judge concluded that s. 25 did not protect the appellant from criminal liability for his actions. A majority of the Court of Appeal agreed. However, Wakeling J.A., in dissent, would have held that the trial judge erred in concluding that the prosecution had proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the appellant's actions constituted an assault, and also that the trial judge erred in concluding that s. 25 did not apply. Wakeling J.A. would have allowed the appeal and ordered a new trial. Argued Date 2023-12-14 Keywords Criminal Law — Defences — Use of force by peace officer — Protection of peace officers — Whether the majority of the Court of Appeal of Alberta erred in upholding the trial judge's decision that s. 25 of the Criminal Code did not protect the appellant from criminal liability — Whether the majority of the Court of the Appeal erred in upholding the trial judge's decision that the prosecution had proven the elements of aggravated assault beyond a reasonable doubt — Criminal Code, s. 25. Extreme Genes - America's Family History and Genealogy Radio Show & Podcast
Host Scott Fisher opens the show with David Allen Lambert, Chief Genealogist of the New England Historic Genealogical Society and AmericanAncestors.org. Family Histoire News begins with the story of a contest winner. He's the young guy who figured out how to translate dozens of tightly rolled scrolls burned in the Mount Vesuvius explosion in 79 AD. David will have more. Then, for families who have missing people in Florida, a special day is coming to help you find closure… and it involves DNA. You're not going to like what David has to suggest concerning the diets of our ancestors. Then again, it was pretty healthy! Hear about this ancient staple. In Scotland, there's been another haul of ancient coins. And there's a real back story to this find! Visiting the US Capitol anytime soon? You can now take photos of the founding documents as long as you don't use flash. Also, the National Archives is searching for indexers to help with the pension records of the Revolutionary War. And they want every word transcribed. Fisher then notes the passing of two employees of our friends at MyHeritage.com in Israel. Both young men, age 23, were murdered on October 7th at the NOVA concert. We send our love and condolences to our friends. Ian James of FamilySearch then joins the show to talk about how FamilySearch is using Artificial Intelligence, and how it is gradually replacing the old human indexing system. But, hey, volunteers… don't stop yet! They still need you as Ian will explain. Fisher is then joined by Maureen Taylor, the Photo Detective. The two talk about holiday gifts of photo albums. There are a lot of ways to do them… and there's still plenty of time… as Maureen explains. David then returns for Ask Us Anything. That's all this week on Extreme Genes, America's Family History Show!

This time on Lydia Talks To... I catch up with previous guest Ian James Parsley, a Northern Irish political commentator. This is a shorter version of the Podcast to get a grip on a very current news story- the elections in Northern Ireland. Or not, as the case may be. On Friday 28th October it was thought that Northern Ireland Secretary Chris Heaton Harris was going to call an election since the deadline to restore a power sharing government had passed. But he then didn't. Last year I talked in depth with Ian James Parsley about the Northern Ireland Protocol. Ian, it should be noted is a member of the Alliance Party and married to an Alliance Member of Assembly. I go back to him again and again because he's a level head and has a knack for nuance and bringing in the context, which as you know is so important to me.
Who was flying on the Marrakesh Express and who was left to crumble like cous-cous in the searing heat of Morocco last weekend? That and several other topics are discussed between host Andrew van de Burgt, The Race's Formula E guru Sam Smith and special guest, Mercedes EQ team principal, Ian James in the latest episode of the Race's Formula E podcast. The intricate choreography of DS Techeetah pair Jean-Eric Vergne and Antonio Felix da Costa and how it allowed Edoardo Mortara the little extra breathing space he needed is mulled over, as is the chronic braking difficulties that blighted James' charge Stoffel Vandoorne. The trio also take a look at how the teammates of the ‘Gang of Four' at the head of the drivers title fight will have a say in where the title rests in just over a month's time when the world championship concludes in Seoul. The seemingly never-ending saga of the 2022 driver silly season is picked apart, and the latest 2023 EPrix venue news is covered in the familiar ‘Sam's calendar update' segment of the show. As the voice of iconic cartoon characters, major TV networks, and national brands, Ian James Corlett has been heard by millions of people. But until now, he's never publicly rocked a mic to share his own story as an ex-Jehovah's Witness. Ian joins Sarah and Nippy for a rollicking ride through the denomination's history, and his journey from born-and-raised JW and church elder, to unapologetic apostate. He has a few choice things to say about why JWs appear to be leaving the denomination in droves, as well as some memories to share about that one time a fellow voice actor by the name of Sarah Edmondson tried to recruit him into NXIVM.About Our Guest:You may have heard Ian James Corlett in the Emmy-nominated Dinosaur Train, in CartoonNetwork's zany Johnny Test, or in the latest Disney Jr hit: Vampirina. And going further back, Ian originated the iconic English dub voice of Goku in Dragonball Z as well as voicing other 90's icons such as Megaman, and Bob in Reboot. Getting Better Now from the Golf Business Network with Dean Kandle, PGA
One thing we could probably all agree on is that traditionally the golf industry is pretty resistant to change. Look at the way we staff our golf operations with a Head Professional and X number of Assistants. That's been the model for as long as anybody can remember. Add to that the scope of the job for everyone on the staff from teaching some, running events, doing some merchandising, etc. It's been the same for a long time. As we know we're either in or approaching a crisis in the golf business. We need more Golf Professionals and while there are differing views on how we're going to find them, no one has their finger on the definitive answer. With that said, with challenges like these come innovation and now is the time to start thinking differently about how we structure the jobs at our facilities. At the forefront of this are two players in particular. The first, Club Corp, isn't really known for innovating in the employment department within our industry. The second, Retail Tribe, is dedicated to helping clubs and Golf Professionals grow their business. The marriage between the two has created a new role for the modern Golf Professional that is revolutionizing how we view the impact a Golf Professional can make on the bottom line. In a nutshell, as you will hear, Club Corp took traditional teaching professionals and Assistant Professionals and started incentivizing them to engage with members, develop programming, and generate excitement around the golf program. In turn, the Professional receives a cut of membership dues, program revenue, membership retention dollars, and spend on other items at the Club. Because they found that the more engaged a golfer is, the more the use the facility and the more they spend. And who better to engage golfers than a PGA Professional. It's something that when you say it out loud, you respond with “of course”. But only now has someone stepped up and rewarded the Professional for the true impact they're making. This model has been so successful, that Club Corp is rolling it out at every one of their facilities. That's right, all of them. Take the time to listen to this entire presentation that GBN hosted at the PGA Show this year. This model has the potential to revolutionize how Golf Professionals work and could save the industry in a time of crisis. Yes, it's that powerful. Here's GBN's presentation with Ian James, the CEO of Retail Tribe, Mark Gore, the Sr. Vice President of Golf Operations at Club Corp, and Matt Anzalone, the Regional Vice President of Player Development at Club Corp.
Extreme Genes - America's Family History and Genealogy Radio Show & Podcast
Host Scott Fisher opens the show with David Allen Lambert, Chief Genealogist of the New England Historic Genealogical Society and AmericanAncestors.org. Fisher opens Family Histoire News with news of what Americans consider the most annoying accent in America. (David will not like this!) Then, David talks about the solving of some really old cold cases… from 1947 and 1964, one of them by a 20 year old genealogist! He also talks about how science has given us the face of a woman who lived 4,000 years ago! Then, a Grand Army of the Republic Museum in Philadelphia found a creative way to keep the doors open. Hear what they did. Then, if you have Royal lines, you may very well have a Ukrainian ancestor. David explains. Fisher then visits with a product manager from FamilySearch International, Ian James, who explains their new volunteer program, “Get Involved.” With new artificial intelligence, FamilySearch can create indexes for handwritten records faster than ever before. But those results need to be double checked. Ian will tell you how you can help. Then, CeCe Moore, the DNA Detective, is back. People are now beginning to recognize that CeCe has solved more cold cases than anyone in history… and the math makes sense. Hear what CeCe has to say about it, and how many cases she and her team have cracked in just four years! David then returns for Ask Us Anything, answering your questions. That's all this week on Extreme Genes, America's Family History Show!

Join Paul and me as we discuss the Rolex 24 at Daytona with Team 3GT driver Ian James. Ian and his teammates, including Scott Pruett, are at the helm of the new Lexus GT racing program and face some of the stiffest competition in Rolex 24 history. The IMSA Rolex 24 will consist of 55 competitors for the race's 55th running on Saturday, Jan. 28. With a raft of new manufacturers, cars and racing programs, the Balance of Power has been a real challenge this year and a host of new regulations changes to match. Twelve cars will make up the Prototype class, with Daytona Prototype international (DPi) entrants from Cadillac, Mazda and Nissan joined by a host of global LM P2 spec cars. This year's race has, arguably, one of the strongest collection of driver lineups in recent history and highlighted by names such as NASCAR's Jeff Gordon and Indycar's James Hinchcliffe. Eleven factory programs will compete in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class, with Corvette Racing, four Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GTs, Porsche's all-new 911 RSRs and a single entry from Ferrari. BMW is entering a pair of cars, one of which being the first BMW Art Car to ever race in the Rolex 24.
Editor's note: A huge thank you to Paul Charsley's dear friend Ian James for providing us a lap of the 24 hours of Le Mans. Join professional race driver Ian James for a lap of the Circuit de la Sarthe for the 24 hours of Le Mans. Ian James is currently racing Porsche GT America in the IMSA Tudor Sportscar Series for Team Seattle and Mustang Boss 302R in Continental series for Multimatic/Miller Racing. What better way to take a lap of the famous Le Mans circuit than with a driver who has raced it.
