Hear Bill's conversation with his famous and beautiful guests, Kim Brooks, President of Solar-Fit, and Meghan McDonald, Marketing & Media Executive for Solar-Fit. If these names sound familiar to any of our long-time listeners, it is because Kim is Bill's daughter...and Meghan is Kim's daughter...and you guessed it...Bill's granddaughter! Talk about a family based company! And oh yes...Jeff Brooks, our awesome lead service technician is Kim's husband! On a broadcast coming soon, we will have Kim's other daughter's, Marissa, (our Permit Coordinator), and Lily join us for some more family fun! It is truly wonderful to come to work each day surrounded by some of the most wonderful people on the planet and the family as well. We are so blessed. This was a fun episode as it is the first show of the New Year...and 2025 marks our 50th year helping our friends and neighbors "Plug into the Sun". During the show, we recalled several decades of memories including the first bag phone, phone booths, beepers... (even leisure suits), and moved all the way forward to the newest technologies driving commerce and our individual habits today. These inventions and creations would seem foreign to most of us, even ten short years ago. Today, they are commonplace and they are most certainly changing the way we live, and even the way we think, with AI just starting to take root. To be honest, it has been challenging, but rewarding, to keep up with the changes. The younger generation today has become so adept at navigating the media sites that it is amazing just to watch them work their magic. Join us for some fun and if you are serious about making a difference in the world and saving energy dollars...Give Kim or Meghan a call and let them know that you heard about their adventures on WNZF Talk Radio.Support the show

The Carolinas and the Southeast preparing for big impacts from Helene. Hurricane Helene is rapidly intensifying in the Gulf of Mexico and is forecast to make landfall along the big bend of Florida. From there, impacts from the storm will move quickly over Georgia and into both North Carolina and South Carolina. Excessive rain will cause flash flooding with the greatest risks across portions of the western North Carolina mountains, where the region is already being soaked by a predecessor rain event underway. With more than ten inches of rain possible, the risk of flash flooding in the mountains is extremely high. The risk of flooding extends across much of the Carolinas, where a couple of inches of rain is also possible. Even with Helene forecast to weaken to a tropical storm over Georgia and the Carolinas, gusty winds could still reach hurricane-force with some areas forecast to see 70 mph or greater wind gusts. This could easily topple trees and power lines. Power outages are anticipated with this storm. Plus an ongoing tornado threat caused by the tropical system will extend across much of both North Carolina and South Carolina, with coastal SC expected to see the greatest risk of tornadoes Thursday night. On this week's episode of the Carolina Weather Group podcast, meteorologists and experts from across the region to help you understand the localized impacts. We welcome WCNC's Brad Panovich, WFMY's Tim Buckley, WRDW's Riley Hale along with Duke Energy's Jeff Brooks. They join our panelists of James Brierton in Charlotte, Frank Strait in Columbia, Scotty Powell in Myrtle Beach, and Shea Gibson and Jared Smith both in Charleston.

Listening Lyrics is proud to present Didar Singh Khalsa. Joining Didar is Jeff Brooks, percussion. Didar has played guitars for 52 years, but started writing, singing and recording songs only six years ago, inspired by six consecutive trips to the guitar/songwriting camp taught by the amazing Richard Thompson. He claims the muse is relentless and not even very intermittent. Let's test that theory.
STOP FUNDRAISING ALONE! CLICK HERE TO LEARN ABOUT JOINING THE MINOR TOUCHES TO MAJOR IMPACT FUNDRAISING ACCELERATOR.Donors Don't Give Because Your Problem Is Big; They Give Because Your Problem Is Solvable!Jeff Brooks coined the phrase fundcrushing. He defines it as "the evil cousin of fundraising."DONORS DON'T GIVE TO YOUR MISSION BECAUSE IT IS BIG.DONORS GIVE TO YOUR MISSION BECAUSE IT IS SOLVABLE. A major key to fundraising is allowing the donor to make a difference with their gift. A key to great fundraising is giving the donor the opportunity to make a difference. A key to great newsletters is showing donors their impact. Answer the question, what will $25 buy? What will $100 pay for? What does it cost to reach one of our constituents for a day? For a week? For a month or year? What does it cost to save one animal? What does it cost to preserve one acre of rainforest? What does it cost to buy one uniform? What does one hour or one week, or one month of counseling cost? $4 will buy one meal for a homeless person. I CAN FIX THAT!$156 can provide six weekly 12-Step meetings and personal coaching for one man for six months. I CAN FIX THAT!$25 can provide one day's housing for a person in addiction recovery. I CAN FIX THAT!Defining what $25 does makes the $100 donor and $1,000 donor understand she has done something significant.Remember, donors don't give to your mission because it is big. They give because your problem is solvable. Does your organization break down the power of donor gifts to help them understand the potential impact? Is that reflected on your website giving page? Is that communicated in your appeals? Nowhere is this problem more evident than in nonprofit website giving pages. Studies show that 60% of the donors who come to your giving page don't leave a gift. Fundraisers leave a LOT of money on the table here.Great giving pages show donors a problem they can solve. To help you see the power of some tremendous nonprofit giving pages, I have put together a collection of 10 Great Giving Pages that show donor impact.
