Sally Ride catapulted from telescope‑toting kid in Encino to NASA trailblazer, winning collegiate tennis titles, earning dual Stanford degrees, and acing a Stanford Ph.D. before joining the first astronaut class to admit women. On June 18, 1983 she rode Challenger into orbit, silencing skeptics, mastering the shuttle's robotic arm, and becoming America's first—and youngest—woman in space. She co‑authored award‑winning kids' books with longtime partner Tam O'Shaughnessy, and served on the Columbia accident board—making her the only person on both shuttle investigations. Fiercely private until her 2012 obituary revealed her 27‑year partnership, Sally's legacy endures in classrooms, laboratories, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom that underscores a simple truth: for Dr. Sally Ride, the sky was just the starting line. Jane Addams was the eighth of nine children in a prominent family. Her father was a wealthy businessman and politician, who was connected to Abraham Lincoln. Her mother was a homemaker who instilled in Jane a sense of duty to help others. After attending college in Illinois, Jane traveled to Europe and was deeply moved by the poverty and suffering she witnessed there. Upon returning to the United States, Jane settled in Chicago and co-founded Hull House, a settlement house that provided social services to immigrants and the poor. Hull House became a model for similar institutions across the country, and Jane became a leading voice for social reform. Throughout her career, Jane advocated for a wide range of causes, including women's suffrage, labor rights, and peace. She was a vocal opponent of World War I and became the first woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 1931 for her work promoting peace and social justice. On today's episode, P sits down with her best friend of 21 years (WILD) Cailin Campbell to have the most vulnerable conversation. The two best friends talk about their childhood, growing up in a small town, and how they both navigated their sexuality as teens. Cailin openly identifies as pansexual and has been in a straight passing relationship with her boyfriend for nearly a decade. She dives into how she has struggled to fit in with the LGBTQIA+ community over the years since she got into a relationship at such a young age. However, Cailin has been able to grow and overcome those internal thoughts and is so grateful that she can be open with her partner about her pansexuality. This conversation is a must-listen for anyone who identifies as queer but is in a happy and committed heterosexual relationship. Cailin says it many times throughout this episode but she wants everyone to know that your partner does not define your sexuality. If you want to send Cailin a message or keep up with her, you can follow this lil gemini babe below @cailincamps on Instagram.

While S is living it up in Thailand, P is riding solo to answer some listener Qs and maybe gush about Hello Fresh a lil (we promise this is not sponsored). In this episode, P gets real about not being fully over someone from her past and how she handles the unresolved feelings, how she felt growing up as a teenager with very minimal queer representation, what this generation of teens can do to find support, and why representation matters. Having LGBTQIA+ representation in books, tv shows, movies and any type of media you can consume is CRUCIAL. Let's never stop speaking out about this. Enjoy this candid episode!PS: Miss you S.
Charlotte Cushman was one of the first female actresses to play male and female roles and achieve international fame. Her voice was noted for its full contralto register, which made her well-known for playing male characters such as Romeo, Hamlet, and Cardinal Wolsey and strong female characters like Lady Macbeth and Nancy Sykes in Oliver Twist. She often rubbed elbows with the elite, including President Abraham Lincoln. She was also out in the open with her same-sex partner relationships in the mid-19th century. My ex-girlfriend had two sisters that were in long term relationships with women but now they are both into men. So their sexual orientation switched around. The reason they gave me for ending their relationships was due to a lack of sex. It's common knowledge that in most relationships one person wants sex more then the other. This is just part of being human That's just the way it is. One of her sisters complained that her female partner only ever wanted sex every 4-6 months. And she didn't even get an orgasm from those sparatic sexual encounters. Her partner was also a woman that was 10 years older then her. And this was the main cause for the end of their relationship, a lack of sexual satisfaction on her part. And everyone that knew about the situation agreed that she was correct in leaving the relationship because she wasn't getting her sexual needs met. But this reveals a double standard. Many men in relationships with women are not getting as much sex as they would like and yet if they left their wives because of a lack of sex many people would not support their decision. They would be considered selfish and they are considered the bad guy but like I said the opposite seems to happen in lesbian relationships. Representation is key when it comes to marginalized communities and identities - I am a strong believer of this! Being from the LGBTQ community myself, I know how important it is to feel that you're apart of your community, and to also see yourself, your stories and your experiences reflected in cinema.
