Bren Foster is a man on a mission. Fresh from the positive reactions to his blistering 2024 martial arts revenge drama, 'Life After Fighting' - which also marked his directorial debut - Bren is now keen to show the world a new kind of action hero. The former soap star, who made his name on shows like 'Days of Our Lives' and 'Home and Away', is now capitalising on his incredible martial arts abilities to star in more fight films. His next will be an MMA actioner with Russell Crowe and Luke Hemsworth, called 'Beast in Me', in which he also provides fight choreography. This will be music to the ears of many martial arts movie fans who, before 'Life After Fighting', could only glimpse at Foster's extraordinary physical abilities in small bursts - like on the documentary series, 'Fight Science', or his roles in two Steven Seagal films, 'Maximum Conviction' and 'Force of Execution', or on the small screen in the series, 'The Last Ship'. If anything, 'Life After Fighting' saw Bren making up for lost time, throwing himself into every aspect of the film - providing roles for his own family and casting many of his students, and even filming at his own martial arts school. As well directing, he writes, stars, produces, and provides fight choreography. Despite its low budget, the film still packs a major punch, and was one of my favourite fight films of 2024. It is a privilege to welcome actor John Hickman to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.  John had always been interested in acting, but it wasn't until he won the opportunity to play a part in True Blood that he realized it was a path for him. His first scene on the HBO series turned into several more, and soon he became a part of Joe Manganiello's “wolf pack,” which included the opportunity to work with live wolves in Season Five.  John Hickman also worked on shows like The Originals and The Vampire Diaries on the CW. As a go-to character actor, John worked alongside some of Hollywood's biggest names, such as Bruce Willis, Ed Harris, James Franco, Nikki Glaser, Peter Facinelli, and Pierce Brosnan.  While his acting career was taking off, he was secretly battling an alcohol addiction. After filming four films back-to-back, John wound up in the hospital due to his drinking. However, it was an on-set meeting with Al Pacino that led him to get clean and sober. While detoxing on his next set, the Emmy and Oscar-winning actor pulled him aside one day and told him he needed to improve. John took that life-changing advice to heart and went to rehab, returning later to finish the film.    In addition to acting, John is dedicated to philanthropy. In 2011, he established the John Herman Hickman Foundation to aid victims of natural disasters and provide scholarships to the children of Peco Foods employees. The gunfights are plentiful, the explosions are numerous, the hand-to-hand combat is abundant and the tension is sky high in the new movie Land of Bad starring Russell Crowe, Liam Hemsworth, Milo Ventimiglia, Ricky Whittle and Luke Hemsworth. In Land of Bad, special forces operators are sent on a mission in the Philippines to rescue a CIA asset in the hands of terrorists. Unfortunately for Sgt. JJ Kinney (Liam Hemsworth), he's been picked for the mission to coordinate all military aircraft in the area to support the mission. Before long, things go south and Kinney finds himself in the title of the movie, a land of bad. Russell Crowe plays an Air Force drone pilot that has to help Kinney make his way through this hell and occasionally pummel some terrorists with drone missiles along the way. "You want to write stuff you want to see, that's the key. Just write something new something fresh, something interesting," says director and co-writer William Eubank of Land of Bad, the new intense, action-packed movie about a Delta Force team that gets ambushed in enemy territory.  Final Draft sat down with Eubank to talk about his writing process, directing Liam Hemsworth, Russell Crowe and Luke Hemsworth in this unhinged survival story full of exciting set pieces and big action moments.   So, what's his advice to a young writer wanting to get in on the action movie game?  "I write very short and sweet, so it's fast to read because that anxiety needs to be read quickly, in my opinion. You don't want to get the page so thick. We zijn bij aflevering 124 en alvast een kleine aankondiging, aflevering 125 gaat onze Marvel MCU Tier List special worden waar we alle films gaan beoordelen en In een final Nerd Culture ranking gaan stoppen. The Changeling vanaf 8 september op Apple TV+ Apple TV+ is misschien niet de grootste streamer op de markt, maar ze timmeren voor een schappelijke prijs toch heerlijk aan de weg en veel van hun shows behalen dan ook een bepaalde kwaliteitsstandaard. Dit keer viel ons oog op The Changeling, een horror TV serie met onder andere Lakeith Stanfield (belend van The Harder They Fall). Een vrouw krijgt een magische bracelet die haar drie wensen in vervulling brengen, sidenote is dat ze hem niet zelf mag afdoen. De show heeft hevige Jordan Peele horror vibes en daar is vooral Koos wel voor te porren. The Changeling is vanaf 8 september te zien op Apple TV+. Robocop Returns is Neill Blomkamp's passieproject Neill Blomkamp's werk was onlangs nog te zien in de bioscopen met zijn Gran Turismo film. Nu is de regisseur niet vies van videogame adopties met bijvoorbeeld Halo en Anthem onder z'n riem, maar toch zien we hem het liefst in z'n passieprojecten. De regisseur gooide hoge ogen met zijn District 9 en later in mindere mate met Elysium. Alle deuren in Hollywood leken dan ook open te gaan voor de Zuid-Afrikaanse regisseur. Zo zou hij aan de slag gaan met een Alien project die alle andere films na deel 2 non-cannon zouden maken, iets wat de fans graag zouden zien. Nu ging dat helaas niet door. Later kwam er een Robocop project op zijn pad waarmee een soort zelfde traject werd ingeslagen. Het zou Robocop Returns heten, volledige in de stijl van Paul Verhoeven zijn en zich direct afspelen na de allereerste Robocop. Zelfs Peter Weller zou hiervoor terugkeren. Ook dit project staat momenteel in de ijskast, maar een nerd mag dromen niet? Henry Cavill binnenkort te zien in Highlander reboot Hoe mooi moet het leven van een nerd als Henry Cavill wel niet zijn? De man schitterde als Superman, mocht een villain spelen in Mission Impossible om vervolgens aan de slag te gaan met zijn persoonlijke passieproject The Witcher. Een serie waar hij in eerste instantie veel succes mee boekte tot zijn input niet langer meer werd gewaardeerd. We weten allemaal hoe het afliep, seizoen drie is dramatisch ontvangen en Cavill werd vervangen door Luke Hemsworth. Dit keer liet John Wick regisseur Chad Stahelski weten dat hij Henry Cavill gestrikt heeft als Connor McLeod in de Highlader reboot. Scott Rosenfelt is one of Hollywood's most successful independent producers. On the strength of such films as Home Alone, Smoke Signals, Mystic Pizza, Teen Wolf, and Extremities, Scott has garnered international acclaim and recognition.Rosenfelt's most recent film, Critical Thinking, about the Latino and African-American Miami Jackson High School chess team that won the national chess championship in 1998, was an early selection of the 2020 SXSW Film Festival for its world premiere. It is directed by John Leguizamo, who also stars, Michael K. Williams, Jorge Lendeborg, Angel Bismark Curiel, and Rachel Bay Jones. Vertical is handling domestic distribution and CMG, foreign, as the film is slated for a September 2020 release.Rosenfelt's script, CounterPlay, will go into production in January 2021 in the Philippines, with Pedring Lopez (Maria) directing. Rosenfelt will be producing with Michael McDermott and Andy Green of Fusion Entertainment as Executive Producer. The film stars Sam Worthington, Luke Hemsworth, Luke Bracey, and Derek Ramsay.Rosenfelt is also producing 5-4-3-2-1 in partnership with CMG Entertainment. Kieran Darcy-Smith will direct for the thriller to be shot in Chicago in 2021.Rosenfelt wrote the script for and will be producing Fever, a feature film based on the Bre-X gold stock scandal. Kieran Darcy-Smith will be directing, with Gabriel Almagor joining him as producer along with Mark Spillane and Kristie Spillane of Unbreakable Films in Australia. The film is slated for a First Quarter 2021 start, with principal photography in Australia, the Philippines, and Calgary.Rosenfelt has written and will be producing Nanda Devi, based on one of the CIA's most secretive missions, set in the Himalayas in 1965 at a time when the Chinese were first testing their nuclear capability. The film will be produced in association with Mulberry Films.Rosenfelt is producing The Five, which he co-wrote with Robert Bruzio. It is the story of the famed “500 Club” in Atlantic City, and its colorful owner, Paul “Skinny” D'Amato. Skinny was the inspiration for the Rat Pack and was credited for putting Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis together as an act. His club was front and center for the most colorful time in Atlantic City history.Rosenfelt has also written and will be producing, G.O.L.F., to be directed by Sean McNamara. It is the story of a young Latina golfer struggling to make her way to qualify for the U.S. Womens' Open. Luna Blaise is attached to play the lead.Rosenfelt was producer and writer on The Jade Pendant, which had its theatrical world premiere in Los Angeles on November 2, 2017. It is also the winner of the Golden Angel Award for the Best Film by an Independent Producer in the 2017 Chinese-American Film Festival. The tragic love story is set against the backdrop of the Los Angeles Chinatown War of 1871, and stars Korean actress Clara Lee and Taiwanese actor Godfrey Gao. It was directed by Po Chih Leong.His documentary, 7 Days In Syria, distributed theatrically in August 2016, showcased the extraordinary work of Janine di Giovanni, the award-winning journalist specializing in reporting from conflict zones who had been covering the war in Syria as the Middle East Editor for Newsweek. Rosenfelt wrote and produced it with Robert Rippberger directing.As writer, director, and producer, his first documentary, Standing Silent, a recipient of a Sundance Documentary Filmmaker Grant, had its theatrical release on January 25, 2013, It had its World Premiere at the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival and has played the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival along with the Doc NY Film Festival as well as having won the Best Documentary at the World Jewish Film Festival in Ashkelon, Israel.Rosenfelt directed the feature film, Family Prayers, starring Joe Mantegna, Anne Archer, and Paul Reiser, which had its World Premiere at the 1993 Palm Springs International Film Festival and the 1993 Seattle International Film Festival.Home Alone, in which Rosenfelt served as Executive Producer, remains the highest-grossing live-action comedy of all time, generating over $1 billion worldwide.  Mystic Pizza, which he also produced, launched the career of Julia Roberts and went on to critical and commercial success, while Teen Wolf, which Rosenfelt also produced, starring Michael J.
