But soccer mom Lara Love Hardin has been hiding a shady secret: she is funding her heroin addiction by stealing her neighbors' credit cards. Until it all comes crumbling down. Lara is convicted of thirty-two felonies and becomes inmate S32179. She learns that jail is a class system with a power structure that is somewhere between an adolescent sleepover party and Lord of the Flies. Furniture is made from tampon boxes, and Snickers bars are currency. But Lara quickly discovers that jailhouse politics aren't that different from the PTA meetings she used to attend, and she climbs the social ladder to become the "shot caller" and earns the nickname “Mama Love.” When she's released, harnessing lessons learned from women she was incarcerated with, she reinvents herself as a ghostwriter and successful agent. Now legally co-opting other people's identities through her writing, she goes on to meet Oprah, meditate with The Dalia Lama, and have dinner with Archbishop Desmond Tutu. But the shadow of her past follows her. Shame is a poison worse than heroin—there is no way to detox. Lara must learn how to forgive herself and others, navigate life as a felon on probation, and prove that she is more good than bad. The Many Lives of Mama Love is a heartbreaking, tender, and ultimately inspiring journey from shame to redemption, despite a system that makes it almost impossible for us to move beyond the worst thing we have ever done.   Praise for The Many Lives of Mama Love   “A suburban mom weathers addiction, jail, and parole in this roller-coaster debut memoir…Hardin mixes despair and comedy in her evocative prose: “I carefully pick through the bottom-of-purse debris until I find some small brown chips.... I don't know if I'm smoking heroin or food crumbs or lint, but I feel the anxiety slowly leave my chest.” This redemption story feels well earned.”—Publishers Weekly   “In addition to revealing the struggles of female felons in a misogynist justice system, the author celebrates her own determination to accept herself and begin again. A courageous and inspiring memoir.”—Kirkus   “A hilarious and heartbreaking confession that will not let you go until it is done—and then it will haunt you. It will give you hope in what is possible for each of us if we allow others—and ourselves—to move beyond our shame, find redemption, and write a new, more inspiring story of our lives.”—Lori Gottlieb, author of the New York Times bestseller, Maybe You Should Talk to Someone   “Lara Love Hardin writes with the same humor and bravery that helped her navigate incarceration, sobriety and a daunting return to the community to regain her place in her children's lives. This beautifully told story flies in the face of assumptions about substance use disorder and incarcerated women and shows how community and connection help people rebuild themselves for the better.”—Piper Kerman, author of the #1 New York Times bestseller, Orange is the New Black   “A compelling and timely rebuttal to the perverse and unjust notion that people who are convicted of crimes can only be criminals. This critically important idea is essential for a nation that has been so derailed by destructive “law and order” narratives that have left us both less just and less safe.”—Bryan Stevenson, author of the New York Times bestseller Just Mercy   “The Many Lives of Mama Love is a masterclass in perseverance. This brilliant memoir is a reminder and inspiration that sometimes the only way out of suffering is to go straight through it. This book will leave you inspired and empowered to reveal your own most authentic self.”—Rich Roll, bestselling author of Finding Ultra and host of The Rich Roll Podcast   “Laced with penetrating wit, written with unsparing honesty and manifesting irrepressible resilience, The Many Lives of Mama Love is a book to intrigue, enchant, instruct, entertain and inspire readers of all ages and backgrounds. It speaks to our common human experience of suffering and the healing that can follow.” —Gabor Maté M.D., author of the New York Times bestseller, The Myth of Normal   “Start this thrilling, heartrending, funny book, and you won't stop. I couldn't. From page one, I was swept into Hardin's remarkable, un-put-down-able, artfully told story of suffering and redemption. This book can help anyone who's struggled and felt hopelessness (and who hasn't?). shows that not only can we survive the bleakest times, but we can thrive in them and because of them.”—David Sheff, author of #1 New York Times bestseller, Beautiful Boy   “Hardin reveals who we truly are deep inside: infinite souls of limitless possibility. We are far more than the sum of what we have done and not done, what we have and do not have. In her profound, moving memoir, Hardin is honest, courageous, and challenges us to exceed the limiting definition we impose on ourselves and one another. We all can be redeemed.”—Dr. Lisa Miller, psychologist and author of the New York Times bestseller, The Spiritual Child “This book will make you laugh, cry, and realize that everyone deserves a chance and, sometimes more than one. A powerful, poignant memoir filled with grace, enlightenment and love.”—Dr. James Doty, author of the New York Times bestseller, Into The Magic Shop AUTHOR BIO: LARA LOVE HARDIN is a literary agent, author, prison reform advocate, and president of True Literary. On this week's episode of Soaring Child, we are  exploring an interesting topic - CBD oil and ADHD. CBD is one of the most highly researched plants and has been shown to be beneficial for a variety of body systems. In this episode, we discuss how it can benefit children with ADHD, as well as their caregivers.  Liz Carlisle is the host of the Motherhood Unstressed podcast. Through the show Liz converses with brilliant minds to empower and uplift her audience of women all over the world to live with less stress and more purpose and joy. Liz is interested in the importance of non-negotiable self-care for mothers informed by personal experience. All of these pieces of the puzzle culminate into the brand Motherhood Unstressed, which believes that life is meant to be rich with purpose, cherished with loved ones, and wholeheartedly enjoyed.  Key Takeaways: [3:01] What is CBD oil? [3:40] What is the difference between CBD and THC?  [5:37] How does CBD oil help balance that system? [6:44] Is CBD legal? [9:24] Does CBD help ADHD symptoms? [13:33] How did Liz get into CBD? [22:08] Why does quality matter in CBD? Memorable Quotes: “CBD is short for cannabidiol and is simply one molecule out of many in the cannabis plant. I think a lot of people hear cannabis plant, and they immediately think of the marijuana plant, but the cannabis plant is kind of like the overarching plant that you can split into the marijuana plant or if it contains less than a certain amount of THC in it, it becomes hemp.”  “An interesting point is that we actually make our own cannabinoids. That's why it's called the endocannabinoid system because we produce cannabinoids, and we actually produce it during exercise, during sleep, all of these healthy practices, but most of us don't produce enough.” ”It is legal in all 50 states because again, it's coming from the hemp plant. It's not a marijuana plant so you're not violating any federal laws.”  “I tell my clients that when you start taking CBD, up the amount that you would normally do in the morning. You could take some in the afternoon and then at night so that you build up that reserve in your system.” “The only side effects I could imagine is if you took way too much, you would probably want to lay down and take a nap.”  “When I first started Motherhood Unstressed, I was doing a little bit of mommy influencing and that kind of stuff. And so a CBD brand reached out to me to promote their product.” “Living intentionally to me means starting your day with the intention of like, I know, stuff is going to get crazy. That's the nature of life. But I'm not going to let these outside circumstances overwhelm me.” “I can't control anything else…but I can control how I react to it.”  “When a stressful situation comes, centering yourself back into that intention, you know, can be so, so powerful.” “Think about what that does in someone's life, when you go out into your day, and you're not constantly reacting to things.” “CBD is an amazing plant for so many reasons. But it is a great plant for pulling heavy toxic metals out of the ground. They actually used the hemp plant to clean up Chernobyl…So, quality matters.” How to Connect with Liz Carlile: Website: https://www.motherhoodunstressed.com/  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/motherhoodunstressed/  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpY6K-FcNoqfX59OK1K3AOA  Podcast: https://lizcarlile.libsyn.com/ Dana Kay Resources: Website: https://adhdthriveinstitute.com/  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ADHDThriveInstitute/  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/adhdthriveinstitute/  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/ADHDThriveInstitute  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/adhd-thrive-institute/mycompany/  Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.ph/adhdthriveinstitute/  Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@adhd_thriveinstitute    International Best Selling Book, Thriving with ADHD – https://adhdthriveinstitute.com/book/  Free Reduce ADHD Symptoms Naturally Masterclass – https://info.adhdthriveinstitute.com/25min-webinar-registration   ADHD Parenting Course – https://adhdthrivemethod.com/adhd-thrive-jump-start-parenting-4-adhd ADHD Thrive Method 4 Kids Program – https://adhdthriveinstitute.com/packages/

Liz highlights the importance and necessity of family, and how to grow and nurture your relationship with your partner and children. At the same time she gives advice on how not to overlook yourself when trying to be there for your loved ones. The seed to her brand, Motherhood Unstressed, was planted right after her first son was born in 2012. In that particular moment for Liz, the beautiful promise of motherhood was overshadowed by the intense discomfort, the stress, and the feelings of doubt that plagued her throughout the process. Liz recalls that “something was amiss” in that moment, and yet she decided she would not “stay in that spot”. She knew that it was no one else’s job—not even her husband’s—to lift her up. It was ultimately hers and hers alone. That was the catalyst behind her mission to promote self-love for mothers everywhere. Listen in as Liz shares how it is possible for a mother to dedicate time to and nurture a deep relationship with their loved ones while chasing dreams outside of family. Along the way, she offers advice on combating stress and creating self-care rituals.   Follow Liz @motherhood unstressed Follow Chase @chase_chewning   Key Highlights How is Liz able to dedicate so much time being present as a mother while hosting a weekly podcast and managing her brand? #152 - Liz Carlile - Proven Thought Leader in the Field of Mental Health and Holistic Wellness Liz’s interest in the importance of non-negotiable self-care for mothers is informed by personal experience: She is a mother of two boys, ages 4 and 7, and through her own difficulty managing new motherhood, found a way to not only survive but thrive. Her cathartic processing of the unexplainable turmoil and despair following the birth of her first child prompted her to start a blog, which was highly received and eventually turned into a series of published articles and the beginning of her online presence as Motherhood Unstressed. In 2017 she enrolled and graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (“IIN”), and became a certified Health Coach. It was while she was at IIN that she decided to start her podcast on health and wellness, which now routinely breaks the Top 50 charts on Apple Podcasts. Every week she releases two episodes on a myriad of topics that empower and uplift women to live their best lives. Her Monday episode consists of a long-form interview with an expert in holistic health. Past guests have included best selling authors Dr. Steven Gundry, Mark Sisson, and Filmmaker Jon Whelan. Her Wednesday episodes consist of guided meditations or shorter solo episodes that give her a chance to connect more deeply with her engaged audience all over the world and leave them with practical takeaways they can use to optimize their lives. Liz is also a speaker who travels the country teaching resilience-building and mental fitness. In 2019 she was invited to share her story of motherhood and the importance of non-negotiable self-care on the TEDx stage in Colorado Springs. Since then she has been a frequent speaker to groups of men and women on this topic. She also speaks on entrepreneurship and how others can pursue lives more in alignment with their soul’s true purpose. Liz has graced the cover of Best Self magazine, and her articles on a variety of topics have been published in countless magazines. She has also presented as an invited speaker at several women’s non-profit and corporate gatherings. She is frequently sought after as a subject matter expert on mental well-being, entrepreneurship, and motherhood in person, on podcasts and on television.

These are unprecedented times.  With a school year abruptly cut short, Parents find themselves forced into the new and often unfamiliar roles of teacher, custodian, and principal.  While this has been a major transition for our kids, I think it has been even harder for parents.  Many of us were caught off guard and unprepared for this drastic turn of events.  Who would have thought this could be a remote possibility even 6 months ago?  But we are here now and there is no turning back.  We have all had to make changes, sacrifices, and adopt new routines in the process.  So what do we do now? How do we survive these unchartered waters?  We have to adapt.  We have to keep trying.  Fail our way forward. So despite still having a few in-person interviews, the EXTRAordinary podcast is releasing our 1st virtual episode.  And the only person I could think of to interview in a time like this is Liz Carlile.   The host of the Motherhood Unstressed podcast, Liz has spent the last decade mastering a lifestyle designed for these challenging times.  Her TED X talk on intentional self-care although geared towards women is exactly what we all need to hear right now.  She not only has regular meditation episodes; she also interviews some amazing guests on her podcast.  And her line of organic CBD products works hand in hand with practices she preaches.  These mindful methods and harmonious habits will keep us all cool calm and collected even when it feels like the world is crashing down around us.  Liz gives us not only the tools but daily routines that provide the peace we need as we work through the rest of the school year with our kids.  And as you will hear, just listening to her speak, Liz makes everything a little more chill.  Her soothing presence radiates when she speaks, and I hope comes through in my recent conversation with a certified health coach, mother, and self-care expert Liz Carlile.

This week on the Motherhood Unstressed podcast, learn key secrets and strategies for success in any endeavor from best selling author Shaan Patel. After founding Prep Expert SAT & ACT Preparation, Shaan won a Shark Tank deal with billionaire Mark Cuban and was able to scale his impact on the world, while still earning his MD/MBA from Yale and USC, and working as a dermatology resident physician at Temple University. The lessons Shaan shares from his own upbringing, namely, "education above all else" speak not only academic achievement, but what it takes to truly be successful in any field, you or your children decide to pursue. This is a powerful conversation on the importance of resilience, faith, dedication, and above all hard work. Download for free wherever you listen to podcasts.  Connect with Shaan at https://prepexpert.com About Shaan Shaan Patel knows what hard-work looks like. He is the founder/CEO of Prep Expert, winner of a $250K Shark Tank deal with billionaire Mark Cuban, a bestselling author of numerous books, received his MBA from Yale and MD at USC, is currently a dermatology resident physician at Temple University and was recently named Inc. 30 Under 30 for 2019. Shaan is a first-generation Indian-American whose parents immigrated to the U.S. in the early 1980s. He grew up in “seedy part” of Las Vegas in his parent’s budget motel, attended inner-city public schools in the worst school district in the nation (40% drop out rate), and was clueless about standardized tests. After spending hundreds of hours studying for the SAT he was able to raise his score from average to perfect - a feat achieved by only 0.02% of all high school students. His life completely changed because of this, he was admitted into prestigious universities, received $250 million in scholarships and even met the President.  This pivotal moment helped Shaan create Prep Expert, a 6-week course to help high school students achieve and have control over their own dreams. Prep Expert is the nation’s fastest growing test preparation provider, because as Shaan says “if you change your scores, you can change your life.”  Resources:
