Bob Gaudio was inducted into the Songwriters, Rock and Roll, and the New Jersey Hall of Fame.  He was the principal writer & an original member of The Four Seasons, as in Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. He wrote and/or co-wrote “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don't Cry,” “Walk Like a Man,” “Can't Take My Eyes Off You” and numerous others. He produced a number of songs for Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Roberta Flack & others. He co-produced the Frank Sinatra album Watertown His longtime association with Neil Diamond yielded seven albums.   It seems like almost everything Bob was involved with was wildly successful. Born in da Bronx and moved to New Jersey, he created the music for the hit Tony Award winning Broadway musical Jersey Boys, in which he was also portrayed. He is now the co-Lead producer of the sensational Neil Diamond Broadway musical A Beautiful Noise. I've long admired him and it was an honor to sit back and listen to him spin some of his incredible tales. We've had a long running series as part of NJITW called Newark Conversations, and I think many might agree that this is about as ultimate a Newark conversation as a person could ever hope to have. Jim Babjak, guitarist/vocalist, co-founded The Smithereens in 1980.  The band was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame in 2018.  Throughout the years, the band has released over a dozen studio albums.  After lead singer/guitarist Pat DiNizio passed away in 2017, the other original members of the band have incorporated "guest vocalists," Marshall Crenshaw and Robin Wilson of the Gin Blossoms to help persevere and carry on the bands legacy.  Ray White, multi-award winning program director, caught up with Jim in December of 2022 to talk about the latest studio release from the band - The Lost Album.  The songs were recorded in 1993, but finally released in 2022.  He also shared the latest about his entrepreneurial venture (you'll have to listen to find out.)  Don't miss our tribute to Pat on Episode 30, too.  In our showcase segment, we feature the latest from the bands' "guest vocalists."  Marshal Crenshaw re-released Miracle of Science in 2020 with"new" songs and Robin Wilson with the Gin Blossoms released Mixed Reality in 2018.  Rock 'n' Roll at its' finest on The CAT!

You're encouraged to stop by and besides reaching for a cool drink, maybe pick up some life inspiration shared by these Jersey icons as to how to reach for your own stars.   Steve Edwards is President of The New Jersey Hall of Fame which is overseeing the project. He joins me for a fun conversation to share the back story, talk about the home town celebs getting the honor and share all the cool things each rest stop will soon feature. Also how and when they're going to roll out this re-name change game. Millions travel the Garden State Parkway including me, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who won't miss pulling into a rest stop called 'Cheesequake' which is truly a brain stinging taste bud confusing name. Calling it the 'Jon Bon Jovi' service area will leave no doubt. All nine celebs being honored with their own service areas in NJ are members of the New Jersey Hall of Fame!
