We receive all the blessings of God and all that we need for the Christian life through our union with Christ. As our understanding of this union deepens, we experience greater encouragement and joy in the God who has united us to Himself, giving us strength to stand firm as we follow Christ. In this message, Dr. Michael Reeves considers the centrality of union with Christ for the Christian life, helping us see how the truths that we are in Christ and that Christ is in us give us everything we need to know him and to be faithful to him. This message is from The Way, the Truth, and the Life, our 2024 National Conference "New Life through Our Union with Christ" by Michael Reeves. © Ligonier Ministries 2018. In the Tradition of the Founding Fathers - FreedomsRisingSun.com * The writing is on the wall. It's game over for Biden and company! * Four editorial boards call for Biden to step down from nomination following debate: The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Chicago Tribune, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, have all called for Biden to drop out of the race against Donald Trump in time for someone to replace him at the top of the ticket. * Ted Cruz: "I believe the odds have now skyrocketed, I believe The writing is on the wall - He odds are north of 80% that the Democrat Party will remove Joe Biden from the ticket and replace him," - And I believe they are likely to replace Joe Biden with Michelle Obama because Biden did so disastrously badly. CBS News and YouGov found 72% of registered voters do not believe Biden, 81, has the mental and cognitive health to be president while 27% said that he does. * Rep. Chip Roy: Biden's got to go! Roy is crafting a resolution urging Vice President Harris to convene the Cabinet and declare Biden unable to carry out the duties of the Oval Office after his poor debate performance. * Nikki Haley Predicts Democrats Will Switch For A ‘Younger' Nominee After Biden Debate Performance - OAN Newsroom. * Joe Biden Needs to Take a Drug Test! * Bill O'Reilly: 'Decision has been made that Biden will quit the campaign' - 'White House doesn't yet know how or when to make the announcement' - Joe Kovacs, WND.com * Wayne Root: The Important Question Isn't “Who is Replacing Biden?” The Life & Death Question We Should All Be Asking Is, “Who Is Running Our Country?” * RFK, Jr.: "How I see the State of Our Union." *RFK, Jr. constantly stumbles when he conflates democracy with our republic, but he nails it with so many other observations. His desire to protect and preserve health and life seem genuine and passionate based upon a lifetime of effort to correct the destructive trajectory of war, pharma conflagrations, corporate usurpations, greed, etc. It seems inexplicable that he cannot see how his life's work contradicts his "pro abort" position. * None of the major candidates are "pro life." - Most, if not all, have likely encouraged and even paid for actual abortions to hide their grievous profligate sins. All of them are warmongers encouraging unending war against all of mankind, killing our own and the posterity of all nations we attack or export weapons of mass destruction to throughout the world. * It seems that sooner than later God will remind us of His plan and derail our rejection of the Prince of Peace. A bumpy road follows! * We The People Need Mojo Without Joe!

"Hop-Frog" fue publicado por primera vez en 1849. El cuento apareció por entregas en la revista literaria "The Flag of Our Union," que era una publicación semanal en los Estados Unidos. La historia se centra en un enano llamado Hop-Frog, el cual, maltratado por un rey cruel y posteriormente ser objeto de burlas, planea una macabra pero ingeniosa venganza durante una fiesta de disfraces en la corte. La historia explora temas profundos como la venganza y la justicia en medio de la opresión y la humillación. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We take a deep dive look into Civil War Living History and how some unique reenacting opportunities led us to a greater understanding of the Civil War soldier, as we try to portray their daily lives on campaign. We also discuss combat of the Civil War, the average soldiers, battlefields, and a whole lot of book recommendations. Books mentioned, referenced, and recommended: The works and short stories of Ambrose Bierce "A Yankee Private's Civil War," by Robert Strong "Hardtack and Coffee" by John Billings "Si Klegg and his Pard" by Wilbur Hinman "Common Soldier, Uncommon War," by Sidney Davis "The Union Soldier In Battle," by Earl Hess "The Life of Johnny Reb" and "The Life of Billy Yank" by Bell Irvin Wiley "Echoes of Battle: The Struggle for Chattanooga," by Larry Strayer and Richard Baumgartner "Kennesaw Mountain, June 1864" by Larry Strayer and Richard Baumgartner "Yankee Tigers: Through the War with the 125th Ohio," by Ralsa Rice, Larry Strayer, and Richard Baumgartner "The Cavalry at Gettysburg," by Edward Longacre "The Fighting Quakers: A True Story of the War for Our Union" by A.J.H. The podcast this week is a big one! “I'm a new creation in Christ, BUT I will always struggle with sin,” is going to shake the foundation of the sin-consciousness that is so prevalent in the Church. The good news of the Gospel and the reality of the new creatures that we are in Christ is a dangerous message to a self-righteous society and to a system that is built on performance and striving and independence from God. 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 tells us that anyone in Christ is a new creation, that ALL things were reconciled to God through Christ (so, all things are in Christ), and that Jesus became sin itself so that IN Him, we would be righteous. So why the struggle with sin? In short, sin is an identity issue. Call it the ‘sin habit,’ if you will. The act of sinning comes from what we have been programmed to believe about ourselves. It is a false sense of independence from God. Independence from God is the nature of the antichrist and self-righteousness, and it is strengthened by the law. And according to the Gospel, God doesn’t see us as separate from Himself - there is no independent ‘you’ outside of Him. This week’s podcast is rich and meaty, so be prepared to listen more than once. And make sure to really meditate on the following Scriptures: • 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 • Ephesians 4:1 (specifically in the Mirror Translation) • Ephesians 1:1-14 • Colossians 3:1-5 Here are some other powerful highlights: • Not only was the ‘sinful’ you crucified with Christ, the ‘good’ you was as well! • We’re not like Jesus, we’re IN Him...the ‘IN Him’ is what makes us righteous, holy, and innocent • There is no ‘you’ outside of Christ • Our UNION with Jesus is why we do not have a sin-nature I believe that we have spent too much time relating to the Old Testament (the Law) and we’re not rooted and grounded in the New Testament Gospel. We need to crucify the old man in our minds, AND we need to resist the temptation to believe that we could possibly have any righteousness independent from Jesus, according to our own ‘works.’ I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again and again: there is no ‘you’ OUTSIDE of Christ. And, no accusation against us can stand when we are hidden in Christ.

This week David and Helen take stock of the state of British politics, looking at how the big themes of the last year fit together. They try to join the dots between the pandemic and the fraying of the Union, the weakness of the Labour party and the fraught politics of climate change, along with the lingering impact of Brexit on everything. We are also looking for your questions on these topics too - please let us know what you would like David and Helen to discuss next: https://www.talkingpoliticspodcast.com/contactTalking Points: Incumbents, under the conditions of vaccine politics, have done well. The next phase will be about the economy, but we aren't out of the vaccine stage yet. When an inquiry happens, there will be some tough questions about the British state. If the economic recovery goes well, there will be space for critical reflection. But if recovery stalls or is skewed, that will be the main focus. The Northern Ireland question may pose a real challenge to the politics of the Union. This may be the government's number one problem right now.The UK government is extremely constrained. The EU has invested a lot of its credibility in defending the single market. The perverse consequence of Brexit is that it embroiled the EU into the politics of Northern Ireland. Is the First Past the Post system propping up a moribund Labour Party? The electoral system works to Labour's favour when compared to continental centre-left parties. But the thing that Labour has to deal with that is unique is the Union question.Labour has always struggled to win a majority of seats in England. In 2020, Britain and the EU diverged on the question of China. Biden wants to bring the EU toward the American position. And the EU has moved a bit already. This might dilute the advantage that Johnson thought he might gain with the Biden admin by being tough on China. The geopolitics of climate change are bound up in the EU/US position on China.Merkel has been inclined to treat China as more serious about climate change.Johnson wants to put Britain at the head of ‘green finance.'Climate change is not currently an electorally contested issue in Britain. But that might not be true for much longer.Mentioned in this Episode: Our Union series… on ScotlandDavid Frost's FT column on the Northern Ireland ProtocolFurther Learning: Helen on Labour and the ‘English Question' for the New StatesmanMore on Johnson's ‘green finance' plansTalking climate change with Helen and Adam ToozeAnd as ever, recommended reading curated by our friends at the LRB can be found here: lrb.co.uk/talking See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. The Kentucky Labor Day Town Hall was held virtually on September 7 because of COVID 19, the virus that has now infected 58,000 Kentuckians and killed more than 1,000 of our friends and neighbors. COVID 19 is also devastating our economy. Nearly 40% of KY workers have applied for unemployment, the highest rate in the country. Meanwhile The US Senate has failed to act on additional relief, instead letting emergency unemployment payments and other COVID relief benefits expire. At the Town Hall we hear from Kentucky workers, union leaders, experts and policy makers who call on Congress to provide the federal aid that workers, their families and their communities need during this crisis. McKenzie Cantrell, KY State Representative from Louisville is the host of the Labor Day Town Hall. We end this show with Elaine Purkey singing her song "America, Our Union" from the Appalshop film "Justice in the Coalfields, which covered the Pittston coal strike. Elaine, a singer, songwriter, and community organizer from Logan County, WV died on Sept. 2 at the age of 71 from COVID 19. #FederalAid4KY #Savethe600

[ an excerpt from a public access pamphlet entitled UNINCORPORATION TODAY: A MANIFESTO FOR MOVEMENT, pseudonymously attributed to Professor Emeritus ] “Union” used to be a word that meant something: solidarity, collectivity, cooperation, unity. It used to be a word which stood for something, against the hegemonic control of capitalist interest and the fungibility of worker. It may seem like ancient history now, but at one point a “union” meant a collective of workers. Our Union is a lie, a corruption of the very idea of what a union should be. Our Union calls itself a union while mechanics and engineers on Torus Station die of dehydration because the rich on Themis withhold their water. Our Union calls itself a union while factory workers on Thistle develop lung infections from the pollution levels because the rich on Themis refuse to share their air filters and purifiers. Our Union calls itself a union while miners on Snowmelt freeze to death trying to meet their quotas because Blackford & Desai needs to mass-produce engines for luxury ships that sit in dock to let the rich flaunt their wealth. What we need is not a Union: what we need is a unity. What we need is to spread the word, far and wide, that the Union does not have our best interests at heart, and that when we stand together we are more numerous, more powerful, more valuable than the Union is. What we need is to spread the word that they know we are more numerous, more powerful, more valuable than the Union is. What we need is movement: together, as one, against those who would see us starve to put food on their table, to see us suffocate so that their air is clean. What we need is to move beyond the reaches of the Sector as the Union has defined them and understand that there are better, more possible ways of living beyond their narrow constraints, and all we need to find those is each other. This week, on Tango Sector: After a smooth entrance breaking into the Martinet prison on Rho, the crew of Pelagian comes across an unexpected complication in their attempt to break out Emeritus Na. Claus plants a disruptor. Liam does what he does best. Flux gets showy. Baz gets explosive. He (Jesus) ascended into Heaven and sits at the right hand of God What does the Bible say about the ascension? “When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand. And the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked through them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs.” Mark 16:19-20 “While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up to heaven. So they worshiped him and then returned to Jerusalem filled with great joy. And they spent all of their time in the Temple, praising God.” Luke 24:51-53 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” After saying this, he was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they could no longer see him.” Acts of the Apostles 1:8-9 Christ’s Exaltation “(God) raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come. God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.” Ephesians 1:20-23 “Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.” Hebrews 7:25 “Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11 “Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.” Colossians 1:18-20 The Giving of the Holy Spirit “But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.” John 16:7 “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me.” John 16:13-14 “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth…” GUIDANCE “He will tell you about the future…” REVELATION “He will bring me glory by telling you whatever He receives from me…” DIRECT ACCESS The Eternal Dwelling of God’s People “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.” John 14:1-4 What does the ascension means to us? The Vindication of Jesus “The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!” Mark 1:15 The Reality of Heaven “In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.” 1 Peter 5:10 Our Union with Christ “Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was.” Romans 6:5 “But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 2:4-6 Take Home: Our Salvation is Certain We must Live Boldly “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” Hebrews 4:16 “Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.” Romans 8:34 “...And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”” Matthew 28:20

As we begin to look more into the idea of being a faith prepper, one of the key elements to understanding our position in Christ is to try to get a firm grasp on our union with Him. After all, it seems the most common phrase in Scripture regarding our position is "in Christ" or "in Him". But what does that mean? And what kind of union with Christ does that phrase imply? Let's put on our theology hats for just a moment and look at the two types of unions spoken of in Scripture about Christ. Two Types of Union First, our union with Christ can be seen as a federal (head) or covenantal union (called Federalism). Romans 5:12-21 shows each of us as being in Adam before salvation and in Christ after salvation. And God established Adam as a representative or federal head of the human race. If Adam continued in righteousness, we would also have been considered to have continued in righteousness, being in Adam. But if Adam sinned, we too would be considered as also having sinned, being in Adam. This is where we begin to understand original sin. If Adam sinned and fell by the transgression of God’s command, then we would also be considered to have sinned in him and Adam’s sin judgment and subsequent death would pass on to each of us. And, as we know, Adam did sin and death was passed on to each of us. This is the proof of our identification with Adam. But Jesus did not sin and, by living a perfect, sinless life, not only demonstrated for each of us a practical and perfect righteousness in His own life, but He also died for us who would be united to Him in faith. See 1 Peter 3:18 ––“the just for the unjust". Thus, those judged sinners because of Adam’s sin are now declared righteous because of Christ’s righteousness. Our sin was imputed to Him and His righteousness was imputed to us. Therefore, because He is justified, we are justified. Because He is raised, we are raised. Because He is exalted to heaven, so are we. And because He now sits at the right hand of the Father in glory, so also are we seated. Second, our union with Christ can be described as an experiential union with Him. This refers to the actual effects in us of our relationship and union with Christ. It’s how our union with Him relates to us in real-time. It is like positional vs practical sanctification. And it can be seen most clearly in Jesus’ teaching about the vine and branches in John 15. Let me suggest you turn to John 15 in your Bible and read along as you listen to this teaching. Why? Because knowing who you are "in Christ" is a fundamental first step in becoming a faith prepper. And becoming a faith prepper is a necessary first step to becoming the kind of believer you will need to be to navigate the times that are coming. The following is a study on Our Union with Christ and focuses on John 15.

The poem "Eldorado" was first published in 1849 in the Boston-based periodical, The Flag of Our Union, a publication which also printed works from Louisa May Alcott. Incidentally, this poem was published just a little over five months before Edgar Allan Poe would meet his untimely–and still unexplained–death. Poe is, of course, known for his melancholy and dark writings and although there are some gray undertones in "Eldorado", they are far less overt than those in many of his other pieces. The text of the poem has been set to music in its entirety as well as adapted into song by many musical acts over the years.

The State of Our Union - This week saw the President give a State of the Union. In his speech, he lays down the framework for a war against Iran. He failed to keep us up to date with Katrina recovery. He also offered a plan to make health insurance tax deductible. On this podcast, I will discuss each of those issues. At the end of the week, cities across the nation held protests against the War in Iraq. I attended that event and recorded speeches from the key speakers, spoke with attendees at the rally. There are also photos available at a new page entitled, "Jan. 27 Photos" in the favorite links section. The State of Our Union cannot be any clearer. The people voted for change and the President has offered little in showing that he understands that. Plus, there is the Global Warming Update, a new sponsor and the What a Weinie Award. Thanks for listening.
