On the table this week is early years parenting, but not before Candice and Bodé reveal their celebrity crushes and the reason why Bodé is really feeling himself lately. Candice opens up about the realities of giving birth, the emotions surrounding it and why she is not up for doing it again; and Bodé speaks about how the early presence of a father affects relationships, even as the children grow older. Plus there's a discussion on whose responsibility birth control should be, and how masculinity plays a massive factor in some people's contraception decisions. Bodé Aboderin, also known as Papa-B, is a writer, motivational speaker, businessman and stay at home dad. In June this year he released his debut book 'Fatherhood by Papa B' and he is on a mission to communicate the changing beliefs on fatherhood and masculinity. Originally from Nigeria, Bodé now runs a growing media business with his wife, Candice Brathwaite, supporting and championing her plans for world domination. In this episode Bodé opens up about the stigmas around being a 'stay at home dad' and how he made his Sliding Doors decision to quit the corporate ladder and choose his own happiness and wellbeing. We chat about how his failure to pass university in Nigeria was the biggest catalyst to his life now and why he moved to the UK. Bodé also speaks candidly about a relationship break-up and his realisation and journey to self reflection and taking ownership for the part he played, which ultimately led him to be the person, husband and father he is today. @slidingdoorspod Hosted by: @jenbecks28 Guest: @Iam_papab
Hi everyone, and welcome to this special Father's Day episode on the Motherkind podcast. This is the show that's going to help you navigate the massive challenges of motherhood and, this week, fatherhood with more acceptance, ease, joy, and purpose. Thanks to each and every one of you that come back every week to listen, learn and feel inspired. It's father's day here in the UK on the 19th of June. And I am so excited about this episode. It is a powerful one. My guest is Bodé Aboderin (AKA Papa B). He is a writer, speaker, businessman, and stay-at-home dad. His wife is the amazing Candice Brathwaite, who has also been on the podcast. So check out that episode, if you haven't listened to it already Bodé is on a mission. He says we need a new way of thinking about masculinity and fatherhood. And he says it's vital that men unpack their beliefs about what it means to be a man and a father or else they risk perpetuating this old really stifling idea of masculinity. Bodé's story is one of transformation. He shares how he used to believe being a man meant, earning more, not showing his feelings and having this unpenetrable mask of masculinity. Hitting rock bottom, he had a breakthrough that led him to totally transform how he sees his role as a man and a father. And that is what we talk about in this episode. It is incredibly powerful and I really, really hope that this is going to be one that you're going to share with the men in your life. Within minutes of recording it, I sent it to my husband, Guy. Urging him in all caps to please listen. His new book called Fatherhood, is brilliantly written, it's relatable, it's compassionate, and it is a credible call to arms for the men in our lives. I think you're also going to cry at the gift that he would give to all fathers. If you love the podcast, please do me a favour and subscribe. It really does help. I really hope you enjoy this father's day special episode. Here it is. As always, we continue the conversation over on Instagram, so come and join us there. Let it be known and know it to be the absolute, complete, and total truth. Adui Yako (AY The Wide Nose Bandit) and BK (The Candy Bottle Caps Stasher/ V7 Soda Creator {V8, that was some real hoe ass shit ya'll did and pulled on BK. U bitches owe! It ain't over! Ever!}/The Entire Edifice Adjacent Stander) have reached a milestone. They have engineered, constructed, carried forth, and multi-handedly given the cosmos an offering of decency and creativity by sharing a connection of homed in growth and years of understanding, problem solving, and pure homeboy respect & love. It hasn't been all pretty and it hasn't been all chaos either. Somehow some way the gawdz agreed to their union and through it they gave all of us We Play It! Gentlemen, salute! WPI wants to thank all and everyone that has inspired us, helped us, rode with us, challenged us, walked with us, jammed with us, sang with us, rocked out with us, concerted with us, small club/venued with us, bought us a drink, got hell of f'd up with us, despised us, loathed us (Probably AY way more than BK. He ain't trip'n whatever...), agreed with us, disagreed with us, listened to us, completely removed us, and on and on and on but in a sloppy but necessary last dropper--- truly thank you for moving with us. That's truly what this is for us, movement. For us or against us, just keep moving. Find your own lane and your own thang and keep it moving. 50 episodes of pure enjoyment for us and it's all for anyone to do with or without anyway one sees fit. We are extremely proud and all of our live feeders, subscribers, and sponsors you are the backbone, the foundation, and the atmosphere we absolutely need in doing what we do.... To our families and friends and loved ones, you all are our religion. We don't need to believe because we know we have you as you all have us! God personified! In Fuk'n 50!!! Part 5 the ear chiefs go through their origin and play bits and pieces of quality gems that cemented their beginning, middle, and infinity. They rip thru 3 pivotal years that truly revolutionized a friendship to a brotherhood that goes beyond blood and time, space and turmoil, and loss and love. In a time where everyone seems to take everything way too seriously, these gentlemen prove over and over again that they do not take themselves or what they do that serious but they are seriously trying to do what makes them happy and makes them feel good about doing something where time is well spent. They sincerely hope you feel the same way when watching them and if you don't then that's cool too. We Play It was born the day they met, it just took some time for them to figure out that they could share it with anyone they wanted when they wanted to. To time, technology, and right now! 50! One of the most underrated films of the past five years is perhaps the greatest dramatic performance of Ben Affleck as well. THE ACCOUNTANT did reasonably well in the box office, but never got green lit for a sequel despite excellent performances as well by Anna Kendrick and Jon Bernthal — both favorites of the Bizzle and Papa B and both with fantastic chemistry with Affleck. It may be about an accountant who is also a sniper but it's really about mental illness and the effect it has on human relationships. The action, while thrilling and very realistic, is saved for just a few key scenes and perhaps was the reason for its modest box office was Average American wanted more violence. But from our perspective, this is an A+ minimalist perfection film that draws from a number of genres including noir, modern Western, and of course superhero tropes but is far, far more mature, intellectual, and profound than most genre fair. Hope you enjoy! Papa Bizzle and I had a fantastic time doing this one. Beers of the Week:- Double Strawberry Smiggles (Uhl's Brewing)- The Dreams that Stuff Are Made Of (Woods Boss Brewing)- Fluffy Bunny (Odyssey Beerwerks)The show gets a bit basketball heavy...kind of...with Mookie getting very excited about Giannis going through the Chick-Fil-A drive thru while on IG Live after winning the NBA Title. But Mike wants to make sure we all remember why we fell in love with Giannis in the first place: the greatest Valentine's Day present ever. Mike goes on to talk about Xavier's TBT team, and the conversation tangents into a Notre Dame football TFT dream team. The fellas expected Papa B to join in, but instead a Bruce Arians look-alike popped in to crap on Jerry Jones, the Steelers, Nick Saban, and Dabo Swinney. Scott gives his notes from Space Jam 2 before he has horrible tech issues and misses the Olympics talk that Mookie and Mike have to close out the show. It's been a fun 250 episodes. You're listening to radio station KOSW-LP 91.3 in Ocean Shores WA and this is the Better Each Day Podcast. I am DJ Bruce of Hilliard, there's no traffic today if you stay home and enjoy your company and pop open a can of here comes a summer to remember. I did a short stint as a classic rock DJ at a small Ocean Shores radio station. It was some of the best times ever. For me, it was a break from actually writing, performing and producing the music to just announcing and playing songs from other recording artists. KOSW is owned by the city of Ocean Shores. Its programming features virtually every musical genre including "oldies", classic rock, big bands, jazz, country, classical, opera, talk and on Saturday mornings at 7:00 a.m. its the Better Each Day segment. Its DJs play music as well as disseminate Public Service Announcements, donor promotional spots and do live remote broadcasts for community events. Sometimes even on the beach where they get their cars stuck in the sand. The DJs at KOSW have always been super kind to me so here's a shout out to Papa “B”, Dr. Creep and Tommy T. I hope to get by your way soon. I'm Going Home is the title to a song I wrote about everyone always having the brain-width to imagine traveling to a place and time when you could forget everything, grab a friend and cruise. My place in the sun, wind and rain in this song was the drive to the beach, the Ocean...and all on a 12-String guitar. Someone stopped me at the gym and said “Hey Bruce, why don't you play One Man Band by Old Dominion. Well Allison, this one's for you. I have guitar students and a somewhat idealistic place in my heart, my world, for music as a community. A common bond that transcends all. Singing always welcomes in the large sporting events with the national anthem, Smells Like Teen Spirit (calm down, I'm having some fun here). But guitar has a little different jam than any other instrument. There's a huge chain of stores called Guitar Center. That should speak for itself. There isn't an Accordion Universe or Clarinet Castle...although very cool instruments. Students ask about songwriting and how to get their heads around composition. I believe in song rewriting. Sometimes the song comes out of the box with little assembly required. Sometimes it comes as a kit with too many of some parts and missing some key elements. Sometimes it doesn't come in a box at all. I tell the young writers “Hey, go for it. There ain't no rule book when it comes to creativity.” I wrote a song when I was 14 called Find A Way. The recording you're about to hear is a collage of sounds. The main lyric is teenage Bruce saying “I think I'd rather live one hundred years ago.” Or finding a song of my own. I added the toy music box ballerina piano part last night. The song starts and ends with it. The dream-like cream filled center of the Twinkie is a choir of my voice finding a way. Here is, from the 1969 Bruce Hilliard scrapbook, Find A Way. Thanks so much for listening to my stuff. My music can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon and all the digital platforms. I'm looking forward to more live performances and meeting more people in person. Until then, honor your future, it comes with a lifetime guarantee. This is Bruce Hilliard...over and out! Grandpa Mike talks about his 102 year old veteran father and how Woody’s Cabin and beach came to be. His cancer diagnosis, and how he’s kept faith through it all. You’ll hear about a starfish changed his perspective, his favorite coffee, and some great encouragement along the way.Discover more:Follow Mike on FacebookFollow Mike on InstagramMike works at The Calloway BankSome quotes from the episode:“I didn’t do a lot of preparation, but as God often does, he began to lay thoughts on me the week before.”“Just raise your eyes to the Lord.

What a brilliant episode this is! Papa B decided to ask if people would ever stay with someone who has cheated on them, I talk about Coleen Rooney and Rebecca Vardy, we both open up about when we first met and we finish speaking on the sad state of crime which primarily sees black boys as it's victims. As ever we are so grateful for all of the listens and love. It means a lot!

What a jam-packed episode we have for you today! With Jay-Z announcing that he has put money into the NFL,, we ask whether his input is a business deal or a long game choice which will help the NFL support black players. The big, big Home Office thought it would be a great idea to try and target the 'at risk' youth by putting messages in chicken boxes. We discuss the fuckery. And lastly, we watched the jaw-dropping 'Free Meek' documentary which outlines his unfair journey with the American (in)justice system, as ever we appreciate all the love, so don't forget to drop a review should the spirit move you. Papa B & Candice x

And we're back! This episode is jam-packed but also features a new segment called 'Dear White People..' In it, Papa B discusses what it finally feels like to have microaggressions directed his way. Of course, we give our pennies worth of thoughts to the unfolding Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson drama and we also agree to disagree on what age it's correct to start talking to your children about sex!

In this episode I spoke to Papa B, about redefining the way he approaches fatherhood. Being of Nigerian heritage he was raised by a strict father, and not encouraged or supported to explore his emotions, which stunted his growth as a man. We explore repairing generational traditions, diving deep into the uncomfortable spaces and sitting still in your pain, leading by example, and surrender. It's a wonderful episode. We're so grateful for you sharing your time with us. @Iam_papab
And we're back! This week's episode is loaded with some heavy thought provoking topics. Should ISIS Bride Shemima Begum be allowed to return to the UK after running away at 15yrs old to become an ISIS Bride? Papa B talks about wanting a vasectomy and I ponder NHS care versus Private healthcare.
Today's Pillow Talk Episode is highly emotional. Papa B and Candice discuss the UK's knife crime problem. As this podcast is recorded during an Instagram live people are able to join the discussion making it highly interactive. In this episode there are people in the virtual room who have lost sons and brother's to knife crime. It makes for a heart wrenching discussion.

For Father's Day, Advice from Mom is turning the microphone on Momma B’s favorite man. Get ready for an epic story and some featherly wisdom from Poppa B! Most dads blowing whistles are refereeing their kids soccer game, but in this story of 1960s workplace woes, Papa B finds himself blowing the whistle on something much bigger and more sinister than he ever could have imagined at the tender age of 24. It’s a special day on Craft Brewed Sports, as the one and only Papa B hangs out with the fellas and drinks some Sumpin’ Easy Ale by Lagunitas Brewing. The fellas talk about Brett Favre scamming for cash, Philly cops greasing poles, Johnny Football trolling, unicycle thievery running rampant in San Francisco, Pats fans getting scammed, and a special Craft Brewed Sports Theatre of Tim Rohan’s piece on Warren Sapp. Papa B talks about his time coaching youth football, and tells a few embarrassing stories about Mike. Bucky calls in to give his Super Bowl Prediction. And we find out who Scott hates more: Jeter or Kobe.
Which league is going to let athletes smoke weed first? And everyone decides to call out Lou the Dog for his picks this episode. While Scott and Mike drink Warlock from Southern Tier Brewing, they discuss Mia Khalifa swinging and missing again, Mike becoming a Toronto FC fan, Cincinnati breaking from baseball tradition, bad video game beats, Marshawn Lynch screwing over high school kids, and the Niners sending out the strangest survey ever. The fellas go on to discuss the World Series and former NBA commissioner David Stern’s recent comments about the NBA and marijuana. Then things get crazy. People have caught on to Lou the Dog and decide to call him out on his picks. With calls from JB, Papa B, Money Blake, and Drew calling from hallowed grounds, the episode hits it all.
Episode #69, the Gronk-isode, DOES NOT DISAPPOINT! Scott and Mike crack open their first beer from their Tavour shipment, Imperial Pumpkin Ale by Reuben’s Brews, while they talk about the Diamondbacks keeping the neighbors out of the pool, how not to burn a jersey, Deshone Kizer liking interesting tweets, Scotland’s coach really interested in seeing big people doing it, an update to Jimmy Butler’s phone number story, and the first ever case of Bailey’s dick. The fellas talk about the USMNT loss and World Cup miss, MLB playoffs, and this week’s NCAA and NFL games. On the Drunk Line, Smitty brings another debate topic to the table, Lou the Dog claps back at JB, Drew provides a Bear Attack FC update, and Papa Berlon drops a rant so hot the show likely has ended up on a government watch list.

Ladies and Gentleman, I give you PAPA BIZZLE! A.k.a. my Dad, I finally got him on the BizzleCast after constantly referencing him and seeing all these movies I love with him. But we absolutely loved “THE MARTIAN” even more than we were expecting, and as Papa B. puts it, “the humanism of this movie just oozes out of its pores.” Laughing out loud through the entirety — funnier than every other Ridley Scott movie combined, even though we generally love his works — the drama, suspense, and of course “science-ing the shit” out of everything really blew us away. And against all odds, “THE MARTIAN” is a super-hero movie that’s actually a super-hero movie, gloriously bringing to life a near-future scientific utopia of global cooperation and single-minded devotion towards the preservation of human life and the uplift of all humanity.
