Recapping Suits LA Season 1 Episode 11: Tearin' Up My Heart Just like the karaoke sung in this episode, it can be hard to tell what's singing, what's talking, and what's a podcast. Luckily, Maggie is joined by Amanda's brother/Maggie's husband this week to make sense of a doozy of a filler episode. There's Patton Oswald! There's Brian Baumgartner! There's drama with a conservatorship, and some more flashbacks from Ted's time in LA before he made the big move to west coast entertainment law. But mostly, there's a grave mistake that colors the entire episode, and it's Maggie's completely false assertation that Tearin' Up My Heart was written by the Backstreet Boys when it was actually written by N*Sync. Either way, we're excited for Rick Hoffman to make an appearance in next week's episode and get this show LITT UP!

My yearly jaunt to Los Angeles couldn't have gone better as the New York Mets were also in town and really stuck it to the LA Dodgers in the middle of the afternoon on a random Monday. Other than that let's see, oh right, I hung out and spent time with the great Jeff Goldbum, Patton Oswald, Larry David and Judd Apatow. The Randy Newman song "I Love L.A." is going through my head right now but I'm always happy to be back in NYC where once again there was a Sam Adams Octoberfest disaster. So, don't worry, nothing's changed.

JOIN US ON PATREON: patreon.com/ivebeenmeaningtowatch. Join us in this captivating discussion with our returning guest, Crystal from the Busty Asian Beauties podcast, as we examine the ongoing writer's strike and its impact on Hollywood. We delve into the complexities of this issue, including the rise of streaming platforms, the emergence of artificial intelligence technology in the entertainment industry, and the necessity for writers and actors to be fairly compensated. Listen as we transition into an insightful conversation about the popular CW show, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. From exploring the nuanced relationships between characters to critiquing its portrayal of feminism and mental health, Crystal and I take a deep dive into the show's layers. We also unpack how the show approaches mental health issues, the significance of giving characters depth, and the importance of breaking away from the conventional 'trust in medical professionals' narrative. Finally, we discuss our favorite songs from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, analyze Rebecca's character development, and reflect on the show's unconventional ending. We wrap up by talking about other TV shows and how actors' careers have progressed post the show. It all started in 1979…Meredith Salenger felt seen by the sweet-but-feisty Carrie (aka “Frog”) in SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT. And Field's starring role in NORMA RAE called to her long before she got involved in political fundraising and activism. An actor with a decades-long career, and now the co-host of the podcast 'Did You Get My Text?' with husband Patton Oswald, she shares how she's still inspired by these roles of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s.Then, one quick thing about the 1987 Frankie & Annette film BACK TO THE BEACH. Yes, really.***with Jordan Crucchiola and Meredith Salenger

This episode contains: Ben's been geeking out in books this last week. Not video games. Weird. But that didn't stop him getting an XBox Series X on MAR10 day. WHAT A TRAITOR! We chat about Moonglow Bay, a slice of life fishing RPG on Xbox Gamepass. Alicia Keys: Let's talk about typewriters and e-ink. An artist made a concept typewriter with a curved e-ink display, called Flowo. Hemingwrite is a mechanical keyboard with an e-ink screen. Looks so old school IBM. Ben teaches Steven two different ways e-ink displays can work. Steven is really interested in color e-ink displays, and tells Ben about a Bryan Lee O'Malley comic he didn't know about called Snot Girl. Flowo typewriter with curved E Ink display offers a similar feel as a real typewriter: https://goodereader.com/blog/e-paper/flowo-typewriter-with-curved-e-ink-display-offers-a-similar-feel-as-a-real-typewriter A $600 E Ink typewriter got me one step closer to writing a novel: https://www.engadget.com/astrohaus-freewrite-one-month-writing-test-140008132.html The Top 5 Color ebook Readers of 2021: https://goodereader.com/blog/electronic-readers/the-top-5-color-ebook-readers-of-2021 Little Tiny Miracles: The physics of fire ant rafts could help engineers design swarming robots. Scientists throw science ants into buckets of science water, for SCIENCE! Steven would still go to a Jurassic Park, even though he would probably die. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2022/03/220302185954.htm Science Fiction: We talk so much on the Patreon-only midsection of the episode about Star Wars, but finally come on-air to talk about the Obi-Wan Kenobi Teaser Trailer ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWTfhyvzTx0 ), and Steven schools Ben on the Inquisitors. Steven's daughter might finally think Star Wars is cool. Ben is conflicted on which trailer is better between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxuyzk5DUFc ). Captain Pike has grown a sadness beard. Steven digs the classic Star Trek sounds, but still "every day is Star Wars day, unless you're a coward" - Steven. Species 10-C in StarTrekDiscovery was SO GOOD. Think Star Trek meets Arrival. Discovery Season 4 > Picard Season 2 so far. Which is more horrifying to Jean-Luc: Eradication Day or Captain Picard Day? Picard says "there's a real old movie called Voyage Home. Let's do that." If you're using a WMD on the Vulcan homeworld, you've gone too far. Spot 73, Jurati's AI cat, is awesome and played by Patton Oswald. Is Picard season 2 another Book of Boba Fett? We think they're playing it a little too safe.
We talk about Blade Trinity and the things you missed if you don't read the comics. Hear about Whistler, Drake, Abigail Whistler, Hannibal King, Nightstalkers, and more! Talk with us on Twitter and Reddit. Links from the discussion… Jay says Blade Trinity is absolutely terrible and Rotten Tomatoes agrees with him. Dracula is in this movie, but because of copyright issues, they can't speak the word "Dracula." It's silly and hurts the movie pretty bad. Hannibal King is from the comics! He was turned into a vampire by Deacon Frost from the first Blade movie. Abigail Whistler is not from the comics. And, yeah, the Nightstalkers are from the comics. Rachel van Helsing is a member of the Nightstalkers and who Jessica Biel was originally cast to play. Patton Oswald is in this and he said the production was absolutely terrible. News you can abuse! The Netflix Marvel shows are coming to Disney +. Spider-man: No Way Home breaks more records. Ryan Reynolds has new updates for Deadpool 3.

Jacques recaps seeing Patton Oswald kick off his new tour this week. Also, YES, Aretha Franklin was, is and always will be The Queen (highly recommend checking out the docu-movie. “Respect!”) Sussy Buka … something Jacques' 11 year old says (from some YouTube meme from Breaking Bad) which Biff breaks down the origin of. Blues Clues turns 25, Elizabeth Holmes trial starts and on the 20th anniversary of 9/11 … Texas moves to become the US version of The Taliban. NFL season starts (Jacques says Pats go 10-6 and lose in wild card round) and Brady starts season by … being Brady. A Self Indulgent Theater (Jim's Theme) Parenting times and … well, that covers it. In this episode, hosts Alan Sanders and Walt Murray sit down with Jeff Leiboff, one of the hosts of the Radio Labyrinth podcast. They start all the way back to 4th grade, when Jeff and Tim Andrews first became friends. As they got ready for college, Jeff was moving toward a journalism degree. He had taken a few early "graphics" classes in high school, but nothing was computerized at that point. Once in college, Jeff got involved with the campus newspaper and other publications. Within a few years, he found himself gravitating more toward layout and design. An opportunity opened and he spent two years living on a Caribbean island. He enjoyed it, but after a few hurricanes and living hand to mouth, he returned to the states, moving to Atlanta. As his graphic design career continued to grow, Jeff discovered the world of podcasting. Being forced to commute an hour each way to his job, he got hooked on listening to shows on-demand. Jeff tried for years to convince Tim to do a podcast. Finally in December of 2015, the first episode of Radio Labyrinth was released. With the interview winding down, Jeff Leiboff sticks around to help with the rest of the show. Walt first dives into yet another terrible movie review. Then Alan and Walt do their news segment and close with an entertainment recap. WATCHING Walt gave WWII in Color documentary on Netflix a solid endorsement. He is suggested The Naked Gun and The Outlaw Josey Wales, both available on Netflix. Jeff highly recommends Alone on the History channel. He also just started Clarkson's Farm with Jeremy Clarkson. Finally, he liked the most recent episode of WWE Most Wanted on A&E about Andre the Giant. Alan got his visiting father-in-law to watch The Fellowship of the Ring. They also watched Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. READING Jeff highly recommends the book, "Project Hail Mary," by Andy Weir. Jeff also loved the audiobook version of the story! Alan is reading, "The Fifty-Year Mission: The First 25 Years." LISTENING Walt continues to dive into the podcasts, Gangster House, Camp Hell: Anneewakee and Comedy Bang Bang. Jeff really liked the debut of Patton Oswald's podcast called, Did You Get My Text? Of course he likes Radio Labyrinth, The Office Ladies, Fake Doctors Real Friends and The Office Deep Dive. Alan does a shoutout for The Marriage Fit Podcast, Radio Labyrinth and 60MW Podcast. Lista de Recomendaciones: The Good Girls Revolt (disponible en Prime Video). The Foreigner (disponible en Prime Video). Nailed It (disponible en Netflix).
