From Aerostar flopping to his death, to Konnan beating Prince Puma's ass in chess, to Mr. Cisco basically dog walking Big Ryck, to a match with Grave Consequences, episode 19 was kinda good! AEW Rampage debut with 3 awesome title matches with Impact World Championship, TNT Championship & AEW Women's World title but also my thoughts on the commentary team and new talent sign by AEW. Recent developments in WWE with Triple H being a scapegoat and NXT being repackaged, is becoming clear that new things need change but how will this affect the fans. A new faction was formed in Pro Wrestling NOAH, Perros Del Mal de Japon which is a name used in Mexico by late wrestler Perro Aguayo Jr. This gro5is growing and wants to make the Jr. Heavyweight division more interesting. Finally, Joshi promotion Stardom has faction that was formed late 2020 and now is growing with not just success but also a new member. ENJOY
This week on Lucha Talk we start a series based on the last boom period of CMLL, going through the mid to late 2000s. In part 1 we look through CMLL from the rise of Místico and through that peak, starting with a recap of the years 2004, 2005, & 2006. What was going on throughout the year? Who was the original plan to be the next big star instead of Místico? How great was Perro Aguayo Jr.? What about the big stars at the time who were established like Universo 2000, Hijo del Santo. The women return to Arena México after years away. Early La Máscara even gets mentioned!? Nearly everything in CMLL is covered from those years and it's only part 1! (05/30/15). We originally intended to release this show last weekend, but due to technical difficulties, we've only just been able to salvage the recording. Some of the content is now dated, especially the 5/25 Raw review and Elimination Chamber preview, which are from the 25:00 - 1:00:00 mark. You may wish to skip this section. There's still plenty of other news to get into including the full story on Destination America cancelling TNA and signing Ring of Honor, how it all came about, what really happened with that now-infamous e-mail, notes on TNA behaviour, the future and much more. We also take a look at the BOSJ Tournament as of Saturday morning, rankings so far, predictions and more. We look at the card for the stacked Castle Hall PPV, where the booking might be headed into G1, predictions for the winner, October Sumo Hall, and possiblities for next year's Tokyo Dome main event. We look at the Dragon Gate King of Gate Tournament, won by Masato Yoshino. In an update, we can confirm that the title match, as we speculated on the show, will happen on 6/14 in Hakata. We look at the pending return of Brock Lesnar, comments on the recent NXT Takeover show, and the debut Samoa Joe. In another update, since recording Samoa Joe has been signed to a full-time deal, in what was a direct reaction to the ROH/Destination America deal. We also talk about the current Hall of Fame ballot with notes on El Santo, Rikidozan, Chigusa Nagayo, Perro Aguayo Jr, Sting, Ultimate Warrior and others. We also talk the launch of the OSW Podcast Network.
