In this episode of Energy Vista, Leslie Palti-Guzman speaks with Phil Chaffee, editor of Nuclear Intelligence Weekly at Energy Intelligence, about the global nuclear energy revival, its geopolitical supply chain challenges, and policy drivers shaping the industry. Is nuclear energy finally making a comeback, or are we still in a phase of big plans with little execution? How are AI-driven energy demand, climate policies, and energy security concerns shaping this revival? What role does gas play as a bridge fuel, and could nuclear truly compete in the long term? They also dive into the U.S. push for nuclear enriched fuel independence-- notably from Russia-- Europe's shifting stance—is Germany rethinking its nuclear exit?—and China's aggressive reactor expansion. Plus, Phil shares insights from nearly two decades of reporting on nuclear energy. Tune in for a deep dive into one of the most debated energy sources of the future.

Sony's 6th film in their cinematic universe was directed by JC Chandor and stars Aaron Taylor Johnson, Russell Crowe, Ariana DeBose, Alessandro Nivola & Fred Hechinger. In this film, after an encounter with a lion leaves a young teenager with super human abilities, he leaves his father and half brother behind to live on his own. 15 years later and now a man, Kraven spends his life catching criminals in Russia & Europe but then the past returns for him in the form of a mysterious organization that could use a man with his abilities. This movie had been tossed around during the pandemic in hopes for the character to join the MCU. However, the script went through several writers and rewrites and eventually became part of Sony's spinoff cinematic universe. The film's initial 2023 release date was pushed back due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA Strike. In December 2024 after the film bombed at the box office, Sony announced that this would be the final film in this cinematic universe.

This entire war is based on false flags for a designed plot to bring order out of chaos for a "Great Reset." This is clear. The US launched their Iranian coup in 1953. The US did the same in 2014 with Ukraine. They propped up Russia, China and Israel in the first place alongside most terrorist organizations. Mossad in Israel created and funded Hamas. This is all organized chaos meant to force men and women into war as an excuse for a massive financial and cultural reset. A "new world order." The UK no longer has a weapons stockpile. They're calling for conscription. So is the American War College. Germany is calling on citizens to build their own bunkers as they leak their own documents showing 1.5 years of planned conflict with Russia leading to World War 3 between Russia, NATO and the rest of the world. This is obviously a serious scripted event. No politician is going to change this. Individuals rejecting the system and withdrawing from the system remains the only way to stifle this insanity. Much of Russian history was shaped by the “imperial experience”. Alexander Etkind suggests the process was a simultaneous of internal colonization as well as the more obvious external one. The characteristic phenomena of colonialism, such as missionary work, exotic journeys, and ethnographic scholarship, were directed inwards toward the interior provinces of the Russian empire – villages and timeless peasant lifestyles, as well as outwards and overseas. To an extent Russia is still an ‘undiscovered country' from the perspective of its urban elites, and we see this starkly in the current war – with the burden of fighting and dying falling on minorities and the impoverished. We also see a radical lack of empathy for other people within the empire experiencing violence, whether that be Belgorod or Buryatia. It even leads us to ask, can Russia even be compared to the modern nation states of Europe? #alexanderetkind #colonisation #ukraine #ukrainewar #russia #zelensky #putin #propaganda #war #disinformation #hybridwarfare #foreignpolicy #communism #sovietunion #postsoviet ---------- SPEAKER: Alexander Etkind is a historian and cultural scientist. Alexander Etkind - Putin is Propelling Russia Backwards in a Self-Destructive Civilisational Decline

Russia is tearing itself away from modern civilization and its associated values, norms and comforts. Putin and his coterie of incompetent sycophants seem to be happily destroying the foundations of everything that has been built in the past 30 years. Instead, he's embracing an alternative future tied to eastern despotism as a vassal state of China – a source of assets to be mined, without any value-added production. What demons have resurfaced from Russia's past, and what is driving a form of sado-masochistic self-destruction and flagellation, that seems to be propelling Russia backwards in a painful civilisational decline. And where will this out-of-control Troika stop – possibly at an era that pre-dates Peter the Great's efforts to punch a window onto Europe in the façade of Russia's feudal-military despotism, established by the khans of the Mongol Horde. But what is the role of such a state in the modern world? ---------- SPEAKER: Alexander Etkind is a historian and cultural scientist. Alexander Etkind was born in 1955 in St. Petersburg, Russia, and is a professor at CEU Vienna. His book Russia against Modernity is forthcoming with Polity Press. He was formerly a professor of history and the Chair of Russia-Europe relations at the European University Institute in Florence. Etkind taught at the European University at St. Petersburg then at Cambridge University where he was also a fellow of King's College. He was a visiting fellow at New York University, Wissenschaftskolleg in Berlin, and other places. Etkind's research focuses on European and Russian intellectual history, memory studies, natural resources and the history of political economy, empire and colonies in Europe, and Russian politics, novels, and film in the 21st century. *) Russia paves way to annex parts of Ukraine after 'sham' referendums Kremlin-supported authorities in four Ukrainian regions under Russian control have claimed victory in annexation votes, drawing global outrage. Ukraine and its allies have denounced the so-called referendums as a "sham". Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said the votes mean Kiev will not negotiate with Moscow. Moscow hopes to annex Luhansk and Donetsk in the east and Kherson and Zaporizhzhia in the south, regions that make up about 15 percent of Ukraine. *) Leaders blame Russia-Europe pipeline leaks on sabotage Sabotage is the likely cause of leaks in two Baltic Sea gas pipelines between Russia and Europe, European leaders have said, while the Kremlin too has maintained that "no option can be ruled out". Seismologists have reported explosions around the Nord Stream pipelines. Two "massive releases of energy" were recorded by the Swedish National Seismic Network shortly before the gas leaks. The Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines have been at the centre of geopolitical tensions as Russia cut gas supplies to Europe in suspected retaliation against Western sanctions over the Ukraine conflict. *) Erdogan hits out at Western countries protecting terrorists Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has criticised European countries that protect terrorist organisations, including the PKK and FETO. The murderers who shed blood are embraced in almost every country in Europe, particularly in the Lavrion camp in Greece, Erdogan told a meeting in Ankara on Tuesday. Erdogan said he expects all countries, especially Türkiye's neighbours, to take necessary measures against terror groups. *) Hurricane Ian leaves Cuba without power, takes aim at Florida Powerful Hurricane Ian has left a trail of destruction and caused widespread blackout in Cuba, while Florida residents are bracing for a direct hit from the storm. Ian hit Cuba's western regions for more than five hours, before moving out over the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The storm damaged Cuba's power network and plunged the island into darkness, leaving it "without electrical service," state electricity company Union Electrica said on Twitter. And finally… *) Alzheimer's drug succeeds in 'slowing' cognitive decline An experimental Alzheimer's drug has significantly slowed the cognitive and functional decline in a large trial of patients in the early stages of the disease. The injected drug slowed the progress of the brain-wasting disease by 27 percent compared to a placebo, meeting the study's main goal after a trial among 1,800 patients. It offers an apparent win for the drug manufacturers and potentially for patients and their families desperate for an effective treatment.

The American proxy war in #Ukraine against Europe is a masterclass in geopolitical chess, simultaneously set to weaken #Russia, #Europe, and #China. The US is looking ahead to the inevitable rise of the Muslim countries, and preemptively eliminating any alternative economic collaborators or partners that could provide an alternative to alignment with America. We have to think long-term -- beyond our own lifetimes -- so we can pursue a direction that will serve the best interests of our #Ummah in the future.

Since the middle of the sixteenth century, Russia has been home to a large but little-known Muslim community that stretches from the Caucasus mountains across the Volga-Ural plains to Siberia. Today, Russia’s Muslims make up between 10 and 15 percent of the overall population, between two and three times the proportion of Muslims in the European Union. In this episode of Akbar’s Chamber, we’ll trace the history of Russia’s multiethnic Muslim mosaic, from its origins and expansion under the Tsarist empire through the persecutions of the Soviet period to the religious revival of more recent decades. We’ll pay particular attention to the intellectual and spiritual traditions that found expressions in thousands of manuscripts and printed books written in languages that range from Arabic and Persian to Tatar and Kazak. Nile Green talks to Alfrid Bustanov, the author of Soviet Orientalism and the Creation of Central Asian Nations (Routledge, 2015).

In 2020, Oxford University Press published a second edition of Serhy Yekelchyk's Ukraine: What Everyone Needs to Know (Oxford UP, 2020). This series is based on the reference format that allows to concisely present the most essential information on both generic and most recent acute issues. One will find in this addition answers to the questions pertaining to Kyivan Rus, the Cossacks, as well as the notorious Pereiaslav Treaty of 1654. In addition to this information, the book contains chapters that concisely describe both the Orange Revolution and the Euromaidan. These chapters are followed by inquiries into Russia's occupation of the Crimea and the Donbas war which is supported by the Kremlin. Yekelchyk emphasizes that the Euromaidan was, on the one hand, the Ukrainians' response to the corrupt regime which was being normalized by Yanukovych and his supporters; on the other hand, it was also a response to the turn to Russia, which Yanukovych promoted and supported: “Popular dissatisfaction with the corrupt regime had been mounting for years, but the sudden diplomatic turn from Europe to Russia was simply the last straw” (93). For the Ukrainians, “Europe” represented democratic values which were systematically violated by Russia: “‘Europe' served as a popular shorthand slogan implying democracy, rule of law, and economic opportunity—all the things ordinary citizens found lacking in Yanukovych's Ukraine” (93). Russia's aggression against Ukraine is viewed by Yekelchyk as part of Putin's ambitions to restore the mightiness of Russia—in terms of global positioning—within the traditions of both the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union. Yekelchyk's book also contains brief inquiries into the most recent developments around the Russo-Ukrainian conflict on the international level: the evaluation of the presidency of Petro Poroshenko and his decisions during the years of the most active conflict; the investigation of the shooting down of the Malaysia Airlines passenger flight; the international sanctions against Russia; the recent controversy about the Steinmeier Formula. There are sections which address the alleged meddling of the Ukrainian authorities in the 2016 presidential election in the US and the current presidency of Volodymyr Zelensky. With Ukraine: What Everyone Needs to Know, Serhy Yekelchyk shares his outstanding expertise that helps understand the complex overlaps and developments that shape the historical and political environment in contemporary Ukraine. Anti China Coalition? In previous episodes, I talked about how the USA gets its national priorities wrong, and Europe and Britain's national priorities do not include containing China. So, who else can the USA recruit to join its infamous “anti-China coalition? Let's go through the list.Apart from the EU and the United Kingdom, Russia has a very special relationship with China. Can the United States lure Russia to contain China? Let's analyze from the perspective of national priority .What is Russia's first priority? I think it is still the development of the economy. If the economy no longer grows, it will be difficult to maintain its existing political, diplomatic, and military influence, let alone expansion. The question is, can the US help Russia's economic recovery? The fact is that the United States and Russia have a competitive relationship at the economic level, such as energy, military and agricultural exports. Both the United States and Russia are direct competitors. How can the United States help Russia complete the task of economic development?. So across the world, only Europe and China can help Russia's economic recovery. However, the EU's political rejection of Russia and the United States' opposition to Russia-Europe energy cooperation will make it difficult to have more economic cooperation with the European Union. In the end, everyone will ask this question, since China has been strong for thousands of years, but has it ever expanded to conquer the Philippines or Malaysia that are so close to China? On the contrary, Indonesia, Australia and many others all became Western colonies instead of being occupied by the more powerful China. Therefore, now that the United States has stepped up the rhetoric of the China threat theory in Southeast Asia, it is actually talking to itself, because the United States views Southeast Asia in terms of the history of the European continent. What puzzles the United States is, why can South East Asian countries tolerate and accept a continuously rising China? In fact, what the United States does not know is that in the thousands of years without the United States, people have accepted a China that is dozens of times stronger than themselves, and have lived in peace for thousands of years. Now the US keeps saying that China is a "threat", people begin to doubt its sincerity and true motive.China Explained will show you that because of China's continued success in industrial upgrading, technological innovation and realizing its huge potential, it is an unstoppable process. The inevitable rise of China may feel intimidating and some simply reject it. Don't be. More importantly, we will answer the million-dollar question: how can you, as an individual or a small business owner, also profit from the rise of China ?Creating original content is hard work, your support is what keeps us going.
