Skincare isn't just self-care—it's a divine commandment. Join us as we uncover the surprising connections between everyday skincare routines and sacred rituals, and how this ancient practice can transform and inspire us. In this week's episode of Madlik, we explore a fascinating aspect of ancient Israelite culture that's often overlooked: the significance of anointing oil. Far from being a mere cosmetic practice, anointing held deep spiritual and social importance in biblical times.   Key Takeaways Anointing with oil wasn't just a ritual—it was a powerful status symbol that transformed ordinary people into priests, kings, and even the Messiah. The Bible's skincare secrets weren't just about beauty; they carried deep spiritual and cultural significance, influencing rituals that lasted centuries. The special anointing oil was so sacred that making or using it improperly came with severe consequences—including exile. ANGELA'S SYMPOSIUM 📖 Academic Study on Witchcraft, Paganism, esotericism, magick and the Occult

In this episode, we examine the Minoan Brotherhood, a contemporary Pagan tradition that reinterprets Minoan religious symbolism through the lens of LGBTQ+ spirituality. Founded in the late 1970s by Eddie Buczynski, the Brotherhood emerged as a response to the heteronormativity of mainstream Wicca, creating a sacred framework that centres homoerotic relationships within a reconstructed mythological and ritual structure. Drawing on the Labrys (double-headed axe) as a key symbol, the Brotherhood blends Arthur Evans' reconstructions of Minoan religion with adapted Gardnerian Wiccan ceremonial practices, emphasizing the sacralization of erotic energy, graded initiatory rites, and the role of the Minos as a spiritual leader. We critically engage with both the historical inspirations and academic critiques surrounding the Brotherhood's theology, particularly the challenges of romanticized Minoan reconstructions in contemporary Pagan practice. The episode also situates the Brotherhood within LGBTQ+ religious history, considering its significance during the AIDS crisis, its intersections with feminist spirituality, and its broader role in modern queer identity formation within esoteric traditions. As a case study in myth-making, ritual adaptation, and cultural reclamation, the Minoan Brotherhood offers valuable insights into how marginalized communities engage with ancient religious frameworks to construct meaningful spiritual identities in the present. A Wallace Stegner Center Green BagEVENT DESCRIPTION: Designated in 2016 by President Obama and reduced to 85 percent of its original size one year later by President Trump, Bears Ears National Monument continues to be a flash point of conflict between ranchers, miners, environmental groups, states' rights advocates, and Native American activists. In this volume, Andrew Gulliford synthesizes 11,000 years of the region's history to illuminate what's truly at stake in this conflict and distills this geography as a place of refuge and resistance for Native Americans who seek to preserve their ancestral homes, and for the descendants of Mormon families who arrived by wagon train in 1880. Gulliford's engaging narrative explains prehistoric Pueblo villages and cliff dwellings, Navajo and Ute history, impacts of the Atomic Age, uranium mining, and the pothunting and looting of Native graves that inspired the passage of the Antiquities Act over a century ago. The book describes how the national monument came about and its deep significance to five native tribes. Bears Ears National Monument is a bellwether for public land issues in the American West. Its recognition will be a relevant topic for years to come. The University of Utah Press will join us in person to sell Bears Ears: Landscape of Refuge and Resistance and Andrew Guilliford will be happy to sign books after his presentation. Bears Ears is also available for purchase online at the University of Utah press. Andrew Gulliford is a professor of history and Environmental Studies at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado where he has been awarded the Roger Peters Distinguished Faculty Award for teaching, research and service. Gulliford teaches popular courses on wilderness, national parks, Western history, and environmental history. He is the author of America's Country Schools, Sacred Objects and Sacred Places: Preserving Tribal Traditions, and Boomtown Blues: Colorado Oil Shale, which won the Colorado Book Award.  He edited Preserving Western History, which was voted one of the best books on the Southwest by the Tucson-Pima County Library. His book Outdoors in the Southwest: An Adventure Anthology won the Arizona/New Mexico Book Award in the category of nature/ environment and Best Book on Arizona, as well as the Colorado Book Award for best anthology. Gulliford edited The Last Stand of the Pack: A Critical Edition, about wolves in Colorado, which was published by the University Press of Colorado. His book The Woolly West: Colorado's Hidden History of Sheepscapes, published by Texas A&M University Press, was chosen the Outstanding Nonfiction winner for the 2019 Wrangler Western Heritage Awards sponsored by the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. It also won the Colorado Book Award for history. His latest book is Bears Ears: Landscape of Refuge and Resistance from the University of Utah Press. Dr. Gulliford has received the National Individual Volunteer Award from the U.S. Forest Service for wilderness education, and a certificate of recognition from the Secretary of Agriculture for “outstanding contributions to America's natural and cultural resources.” For a decade he held a federal appointment to the Southwest Colorado Resources Advisory Council of the Bureau of Land Management. Gulliford writes columns about the Southwest for the Durango Herald, the Cortez Journal, and the San Juan Record (Monticello, Utah) and he appears in history programs for “The Colorado Experience” television series produced by Rocky Mountain PBS. The crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus are demonstrative events in which God's self-estrangement from Himself calls human beings into the metaphysical "lack" at the center of our existence. All are guilty of the frenetic pursuit of imaginary Sacred Objects that were crucified with God.

In this episode, Amanda tells the folktale of Tannhauser, a 13th century knight and writer of erotic poetry. (This episode is steamy!). Though the story takes place in Germany, it was a variation of a tale common throughout Europe over a thousand year period while European culture was transitioning from animist paganism to Christianity. It tells the story of a mortal man seduced by an otherworldly woman, such as a fairy queen or goddess, who lures him to her Underworld paradise. This story asks us: where does abundance actually come from? Does it come from the land, physical pleasure, healthy food, enjoying loved ones, and contributing to our community in some way? Or does abundance come from working hard, getting a well paying job, saving money, and playing by "the rules"? When Spirit presents us with its gifts, what should we do with them? How can we cherish the abundance available to us and help it grow? Tune in to find out! Please note that this is part 2 of our Ace of Pentacles episode, continuing from last week, but you can totally listen to it as a stand alone piece. The word "consecration" means "to associate with the sacred". Consecration is sanctification or solemn dedication to a particular purpose or service. The objects used in sacred practices are consecrated to their sacred purposes. Once dedicated to these purposes, these objects should be treated with reverence and respect, and should not be placed back into common service for purposes other than sacred practices. This episode of Blessings of Consecration brings you guidance on consecrating the sacred objects you use in your own spiritual practice. NurseHealer.org

In this episode of The Goddess Diaries Radio, I interview Zsuzsana "Z" Budapest, the Grandmother of modern women's spirituality. Z has written 13 books including, Holy Book of Women's Mysteries, The Grandmother of Time: A Woman's Book of Celebrations, Spells and Sacred Objects for Every Month of the Year, and her most recent, Z's Easy Tarot.  In this interview, Z shared her story of being prosecuted/persecuted for practicing her craft in the "last witch trial" in America. Her courage to stand in her truth paved the way for woman to freely practice Goddess Spirituality in our country today. Z celebrates her 75th birthday this year. She is the founder and High Priestess of the Susan B. Anthony Coven #1.
