Welcome back to The Lawcast! This time our hosts cover King of the Ring 1996, a fascinating show from the very early stages of the Attitude Era.Shawn Michaels is the WWF Champion but his best friends Scott Hall and Kevin Nash have left for WCW. For lack of better options, Michaels is put in a feud with The British Bulldog and they try to spice it up by involving Bulldog's wife Diana with disastrous results. Mick Foley has debuted as Mankind and will face The Undertaker for the first time on this night. Steve Austin, Vader, Jake Roberts, and Marc Mero vie to be King of the Ring. And The Ultimate Warrior faces Jerry Lawler in a comically bad match.

Ryan and Cindy continue their journey through the spring of 2001. We get to the main show rather quickly, because not much happened to build up the show, since the top 3 matches are just rematches from the month before. Despite the rematches there is a bunch to talk about, including: Rikishi's back! And trying to stick his ass in William Regal's face. Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit reach the climax of their feud in a two out of three falls match. Rhyno continues to build up the hardcore title. Chyna defending her Women's title against Lita, in what proved to be her last match and going over her legacy. Kane and Triple H having a chain match for the IC title. Tag Turmoil match ending with Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho forming a team. Just like 1997 and 1999, it's time for a May PPV to have Steve Austin against the Undertaker for the World title. We also look at a very different feeling Raw the night after, featuring Kurt Angle re-coronation with his gold medals, the Molly Holly/Spike Dudley romance, an all-time tag team match, and it's Judgment Day for Triple H's quadriceps (for the first time). On this special 350th Episode of the show, the Big Five Project returns as we enter the year PC Tunney has been looking forward to for a very long time. 1997 is here and so to is the Attitude Era. More or less anyway. We begin what will surely be an epic run of episodes here on the Big Five Project with Royal Rumble '97. It was a night that saw the WWE return to a stadium as over 61,000 fans packed the Alamodome in San Antonio to see the boyhood dream come true all over again as Shawn Michaels reclaimed the WWF Championship from Sycho Sid. But it was also the night that saw "Stone Cold' Steve Austin capture the first of his three Royal Rumble wins, and the most controversial of all of them as Austin was eliminate, but the refs never saw it. Austin's victory would set off a wild chain reaction of events that would completely shift the landscape for WrestleMania XIII. The Big Five Project returns as we bring 1996 to an epic conclusion. Before we get there, though, Rey Cash joins Dave and PC Tunney to take a look at the full card for WrestleMania 42, coming up in just a few days. What matches are we excited about, and what are we unsure of? From there, it is on to Survivor Series '96. The final PPV of 1996 delivered on many fronts. Emanating from Madison Square Garden, this event stood on the precipice of the emergence of the Attitude Era, and the crowd in New York City truly let Vince McMahon know what was working and what was not. On this memorable night, we saw Undertaker and Mankind end their storied rivalry, for a little while anyway. On the other hand, Bret "The Hitman" Hart and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin were just beginning their rivalry. Speaking of beginnings, Survivor Series '96 saw the debut of an electrifying future champion and icon in Rocky Maivia, the man we would all come to know as The Rock in just a couple of years. In the Main Event, though, the NYC crowd would memorably turn against the WWF Champion, Shawn Michaels, and align themselves with Sycho Sid, and history was made. The Attitude Era is nearly here, and Survivor Series' 96 caught a lot of what would make the next few years in WWE, in the eyes of many, the greatest in the history of the industry! We have made it to WrestleMania X-Seven. Cindy and Ryan look at one of the most highly-regarded WrestleMania's ever, WrestleMania X-Seven from the Astrodome in Houston. Taking place just a week after the sale of WCW, the pinnacle of the Attitude Era, does this show stand the test of time? We'll discuss this and so much more! Quick run down of the sale of WCW and how Vince McMahon reigns supreme. The Chris Jericho/William Regal feud centering on Jericho besmirching Regal's tea. Some of the lower matches on the card stalling a bit, but at least being quick energetic matches. The goofiness of the Hardcore title match, including golf carts. Test's foot getting stuck in the rope. Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle having a well put together if not hastily built match. The show going on quite the hot streak of 5 matches to end it. The culmination (at least for 2 hours) of all of Mr. McMahon's asshole-ness. TLC II being an instant classic with everyone involved going all out, including each team's second. WWF embracing nostalgia and having the Gimmick Battle Royal, including the return of Mean Gene and Bobby Heenan. Undertaker and Triple H having a great match, that would have been even better without showing a crucial replay. Steve Austin and the Rock having another instant classic with one of the best Attitude Era main event style matches, ending with the shocking Austin heel turn, although the crowd isn't reacting that way. We look at the next two weeks of Raw where it is full steam ahead with the Austin heel turn, featuring a further beat down of the Rock, allying with Triple H and then attacking the Hardy Boyz and Lita.
