Earnest ‘EJ' Christian and Rob The Genius discuss and grade John Cena's heel run, What If…..Steve Austin faced Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 18 instead of The Rock, and the 30 year anniversary of Summer Slam ‘95.
Pro wrestling Hall of Famer Jake ‘the Snake' Roberts joined the show. Jake told the guys what he loves most about coming back to Pittsburgh – he will be in town Saturday night for the Riverhounds game. He said Jim Duggan and The Undertaker are two guys he usually he road to different towns with. Jake told an infamous Haku story, where he bit a guy's nose off. Jake said he got into the snake gimmick because he was a big fan of Ken Stabler. Oddly enough, Roberts is terrified of snakes. Jake was part of the iconic Austin 3:16 promo, losing to Steve Austin in the King of the Ring final in 1996. He had an insane Andre the Giant story, where the big man drank 2 cases of beer in a 2-hour car ride. Jake said he hated the Steelers in the 1970's and Lynn Swann was his least favorite. The guys asked Jake to reflect on the life and career of Hulk Hogan. Jake shared a story that he was in a program with Hogan, but the fans started turning on the Hulkster, so the idea got squashed. Roberts said he had a knack for putting promos together and told us his strategy of putting some notes down. Jake talked about his famous DDT finishing move and how it has become more of a transition move in today's wrestling. Jake told the guys a few of his favorite guys to work with. What was the worst injury Jake suffered in the ring? Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo from the PG joined the show. Ray gave his takeaways from the joint practice today with the Buccaneers. How much pad crunching did we get? Ray said Vita Vea and Zach Frazier was a fun matchup. There was a near skirmish on a punt. Which team got the most out of this? The guys asked Ray about what we should expect to see from Kaleb Johnson in the second preseason game after an underwhelming first game. Where are things at with the Cam Heyward negotiations? Has Cam tarnished his legacy? Will the Steelers add a WR before we reach Week 1? Ray said there is an argument to be made that Chris Boswell is as impactful as Heyward. Total Request Thursday.

I am back this week with a new podcast looking back at the 1990s. Recently, I took a look at the first pro wrestling newsletters of the 1990s to get a feeling for where the 1990s era begin, and it began in a very low place. Today, we look at the last newsletters of the 1990s, from 1999 to discover that the WWF / WWE is flying high and WCW is trying to regroup, yet again, from a failed reset. Steve Austin, Bill Goldberg, Vince Russo, Hollywood Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, and many others are discussed through the pages of the insider newsletters of 1999. The extended Patreon version is here.
Greg and Dane begin their first real-time arc here on The Squared Circle Time Machine as they review a storyline from 1994-95 WCW. It's the August 1994 episode of the Clash of the Champions featuring the big rematch from Bash at the Beach between Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair for the WCW title! But this rematch may be ruined by a man in a mask pulling a Nancy Kerrigan on the Hulkster brother! Can Hogan walk five blocks from the hospital to his match with the Nature Boy in time? We also got Dusty and Dustin Rhodes battling Col. Rob Parker's Stud Stable, along with an epic US title match between Ricky Steamboat and Steve Austin among others!
Leon White aka Big Van Vader had a heck of a conversation with Steve Austin... and this here's only the beginning! We're back with more spooky goodness! WCW got a deal on a wheel so it's time to spin for real! No, I didn't accidentally reupload our previous episode - WCW really decided that spinning a big wheel should be the focus of not one, but two Halloween shows! This time, Vader and Cactus Jack face the wheel of fate. Plus - Tony outdoes the Phantom of the Schiavone outfit, WCW has another go at a Sid Vicious vs. Sting match - surely they can't screw up the ending again - Dustin Rhodes and Steve Austin unsurprisingly have a great match, and astonishingly, no unsuspecting faces get booed against a Freebird for once! For all this, plus possibly WCW's greatest ever show opening...let's go to the ring!Music by Michael Gary Brewer at https://www.instantmusicnow.com/Follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/LetsGo2theRing/

Phil Keoghan is host of TV's "Amazing Race," and he's also put together an incredible documentary about the 1928 Tour de France. The doc is called Le Ride, and Phil and his buddy Ben rode the 3,300+ mile course on bicycles from that time. They filmed their race, and are now sharing their story. Phil talks about the search to find the bikes, plotting and recreating the original course to the best of their ability, and why the 1928 race was so important to document. He talks about nutrition and training back then compared to what he & Ben did today, the conditions of the road now vs 1928, the gear, and the support team now vs then. He also recounts the mental and physical strain of riding 150 miles a day for 26 straight days. It's a fascinating, nearly unbelievable journey, and a must-listen!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

He's a retired pro-wrestler with 37-years in the squared-circle & WWE Hall of Famer Mae Young to thank for it all! That's right, Ric Drasin was trained by Mae Young back in 1965. Did he get a lot of grief for being trained by a female wrestler back in the day? And what was it like working out & hanging out with Arnold Schwarzenegger? And how on earth did Ric come up with the logos for both Gold's Gym AND World Gym? Plus, did he ever do steroids or other PEDs? They were legal back then!! Ric answers all those questions and more... with Steve Austin!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
