Homeowners are now using AI to compare roof estimates. That means that AI could be advising your homeowners on which roofer to choose. And from the conversations I've been having, it sounds like this is becoming even more common. I wanted to know exactly what AI was saying to homeowners, so I ran the experiment myself.I fed three real roof estimates into ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini and I documented everything.Watch this new video to see my test results:1) The 7 things AI looks for when comparing roof estimates2) How estimates that don't include attic ventilation details get “red flagged”3) The specificity AI expects on warranties, flashing, ice & water shield, and more4) The details about the cleanup process that AI seems to want in an estimate5) The 3 common questions AI is prompting homeowners to ask their contractors (these were the most surprising to me)This emerging trend is actually great news for contractors who are willing to adapt.Because what AI flagged is very fixable. And if you adapt before your competitors do, your estimate could become the one AI points to as the winner.P.S. Are you interested in building an even stronger, more modern roofing company? Leads are down.Marketing costs are up.And it feels like every week there's another roofing company willing to bid a roof for less than what you'd charge just to cover material and labor.Lots of roofers are asking the same question, "Where can I get more leads?"But what if I told you there's an easier way to drive sales without buying more leads? The leads aren't gone. They're hiding. And they're a lot closer than you think.Right now, sitting inside your CRM, there are real homeowners who showed interest and never said no. They just... went quiet. I sat down with my journal and mapped out 7 techniques I've tested over the years to create sales seemingly out of thin air. And I put it all into this brand new video for you. Here's a taste of what's inside:1) The simple rehash technique that re-injects life into cold opportunities (with word-for-word text templates you can use today)2) How to run a promotion or special offer that gives people a reason to act now3) A free offer reframe that excites homeowners to say yes even if they said no before4) How a true price increase notice can encourage people to take action today5) New payment plan messaging that opens doors for budget-conscious buyers6) A repair conversation opener that gets you back in the home with zero pressure7) How to revitalize old estimates with one simple question that closes dealsThese aren't complicated strategies. They don't require a big budget or a new lead source. They just require knowing where to look and what to say when you get there.P.S. Kody had nearly $1M in revenue due that month when the phone started ringing…It was the solar companies calling - the same solar companies he was installing roofs for. They said they were having cashflow problems and couldn't pay what they owed.In a few short weeks, Kody was stiffed for $1M.Payroll was staring him in the face. His company owed more than he was bringing in.He had two choices.1. Figure out how to survive the cashflow crisis.2. Go out of business.Kody worked seemingly non-stop to save his company by focusing on one simple concept: Speed up cash coming in and slow down cash going out.He survived by focusing on using these 5 cash flow management practices.P.S. Behind most successful roofers is a story like Kody's. People just don't talk about it in the open. If you take roof pictures like this, they'll basically sell themselves. The problem is that many sales people don't know how to share them the best way.So they whip out their phone, scroll through dozens of photos, and tell the homeowner that the roof is absolutely destroyed and they need to buy a new roof immediately. The homeowner puts their guard up, and for good reason.Instead, you can use what Jon Broce calls the “i35” framework.i = Inspection3 = 3 Photos (in this exact order: Bad, Good, Worst)5 = 5 Questions The way Jon Broce explains this process is nothing short of brilliant. It puts the homeowner in control. They see the photos, understand them, take ownership of the condition, and choose what to do about it.Watch this new video to learn Jon Broce's “i35 Framework” and get your roof pictures selling themselves.P.S. Most roofing contractors believe there are only two ways to sell a roof: 1) Get a lead. 2) Sit at the kitchen table. Kody Landals proved there's a third. After building a roofing company around solar partnerships, the industry shifted overnight. More than $1 million in receivables got pushed out, cash flow tightened, and the business was staring down a major problem. Instead of doubling down on the traditional model, Kody built a system that allowed homeowners to buy roofs over the phone. No kitchen table. No 2-hour in-home presentations. No driving across town for every estimate. The result? His company scaled to over $2,000,000 per month in roofing sales while dramatically reducing operational complexity. In this interview, Kody breaks down: • The exact moment that forced him to reinvent his business • How he sells roofs without traditional in-home appointments • The process homeowners actually prefer today • The systems that made scaling possible • Where contractors could start if they want to test this model Whether you decide to implement phone sales or not, this conversation will challenge some assumptions you may have about how roofing companies can grow in today's market. P.S. Kody is teaching RSA Members how to sell roofs over the phone just like he did. I'll show you how without being inauthentic, sleazy, or pushy. P.S. If you want to increase your close rates, you'll likely want training, practice, and feedback. Sales are harder to close right now… I'm hearing this from roofers all over the country because they are getting even tougher objections. Now, I know I've covered a lot of objections over the years, but this one's different.I just uploaded this brand-new, updated, and expanded 5-part objection handling masterclass. This new video is a more detailed objection handling training than previous versions.Because I break down the psychology in a deeper so you can confidently tackle whatever might come up.I'd recommend watching this together in your next sales meeting. RSRA has officially joined the TAMKO family.I know that might raise some questions. To answer them before you have to ask, and to show you what this means for you moving forward. It started in 2021 when I had a wild dream… I wanted to find a partner who would offer sales training, resources, and community collaboration to their contractors. And they needed to help provide even more value and resources to contractors than I could do on my own. I didn't know who it would be, or how it would happen. But one thing I knew for sure - if I was going to stake my own name behind them, we had to be value-aligned. And access to the resources needed to continue to be by application-only so we could maintain the standard. In 2025 I shared the idea with Members to reach out to their manufacturer or distributor to see if they'd support, sponsor, or reimburse RSRA Membership dues. And it worked! Some Members shared success. So it led me to creating a new Sponsorship Offering that would allow a manufacturer or distributor to cover RSRA Membership for their contractors. The day I put the new offer together I picked up the phone and called my good friend Jon Abernathy. Jon Abernathy joined the TAMKO team about 2 years ago after building and selling a very successful roofing company. He was previously what I would consider a ‘loyalist' to a different manufacturer. But after he saw the shift in TAMKO's product development (Titan XT® shingles specifically), leadership, culture, and desire to create a wildly valuable contractor program, he literally sold his company to join the team because he was so passionate about creating positive transformation in the roofing industry. Since he joined TAMKO, Jon had been calling on me to get involved, but I initially refused. So when I called him, I figured this would be a good way to find out who was leading the TAMKO team and what they were actually about. It would give me a ‘behind the scenes' peek. Jon was ecstatic and set up a meeting right away. Then, this happened… In December 2025, I had a conversation with their leadership team pitching them the idea of this new sponsorship option they could offer RSRA to top tier The TAMKO Edge® contractors.Seemingly without hesitation they said yes. So we moved forward together with this sponsorship package (and you may have seen the announcement in December 2025). I walked away from that meeting with a feeling I'd never had before. Like I had found my people. TAMKO was building something special, and how we do business was wholly aligned. They did not allow bad actors in their program, emphasizing members that are a good fit. So did I. They wanted to be the best and not the biggest. So did I. They wanted to find ways to provide even more value and resources to help contractors grow. So did I. I knew they were going to be my new partner, even if they didn't know it yet. A couple weeks later I booked a flight to their corporate headquarters to meet with the leadership team so I could share my vision of how we could create the training & growth community the roofing industry has been needing. What unfolded was a series of strategic conversations about how we could bring this vision to life. Today I'm proud to announce the official acquisition of RSRA by TAMKO. We are joining forces, I'm joining the TAMKO team, and we are relaunching what was known as The Roofing & Solar Reform Alliance into something even more special… The Roofing STRONG Alliance by TAMKO™ Because your company is only as STRONG as you are. And that's what we will continue to do differently - focus on developing STRONG people. I'm grateful for our RSRA team, the entire TAMKO team, our Mentors John Senac, Dashaun Bryant, Kody Landals, Jim Ahlin, and two new Mentors Jon Abernathy and Jon Broce, because we are all aligned on how we can continue to serve at an even higher level. But most importantly, I'm grateful for you and the amazingly generous and supportive contractors in our community who share and support each other inside what is now known as RSA. So, what can you expect from me moving forward? I'll be continuing to lead the community! My new role at TAMKO is putting me in a position to take value creation to the next level. Making these resources free for The TAMKO Edge® contractors is a dream come true, and I'm equally as excited about being in a position to do even more and go even bigger because of the additional resources and support of a team who is equally as passionate as me.I couldn't be more excited about our future together! What This Means for YouAll existing memberships continue until December 31, 2027 no matter whose shingles you sell. Same community. Same standards. Starting January 1, 2028, membership will be exclusively available to The TAMKO Edge® contractors. Even more value is coming. Merging TAMKO's resources with the team behind RSRA, the training, content, and community you rely on will only grow.RSA Membership is now FREE for The TAMKO Edge® contractors. The dream I had in 2021 came true! You Might Be Thinking… I recognize that the response to this news may come with mixed emotions from excitement to frustration, and I'd like to address the ‘elephant in the room' head on. “But I don't want to join TAMKO”I've developed deep friendships and relationships with many Members over the years, and I recognize that some folks may be upset by my decision to choose an exclusive partner. My love and care for you and your success remain as strong now as ever before. This was not a decision I made lightly. I hired expert advisors, consulted with my team, and most importantly, did lots of soul searching to create this outcome.RSRA had been approached by multiple interested parties, many of which I had spent hours meeting with as we vetted each other. I chose to pursue TAMKO as my partner because I felt spiritually called to, even though they weren't aware that other companies were interested. In my new role, I'll continue to lead RSA as well as help shape the future growth of TAMKO as Director of Market Development and Channel Strategy. My hope is that you at least consider a conversation with TAMKO so you can be your own judge of who they are today, and know that I respect your decision either way.“RSRA used to be agnostic.”Choosing a single manufacturer may seem like I've ‘gone back' on my desire to stay agnostic, and I'm excited about it because we can now provide even more specific training and resources that are ‘plug and play.' Plus, we will all be able to ‘speak the same language' and be on the same team. “Will the community still be vetted?” Yes! The caliber of contractor and community standards will continue to be upheld.“You sold out.”I expect a few people may think that, and that...

In this episode of The Stellar Teacher Podcast, I'm diving into one of the most important and challenging comprehension skills we can teach our students—summarizing. If you've ever had students freeze when asked to write a summary or retell every single detail of a story, you're not alone. Summarizing requires students to synthesize, prioritize, and organize information while expressing it in their own words. It's a higher-level skill that takes time to develop, but it's also one of the most powerful ways to boost reading comprehension.I'll walk you through three simple and effective summarizing frames you can introduce in your classroom this week. We'll look at how the Somebody, Wanted, But, So, Then (SWBST) frame helps students capture the plot of a fiction text, how the TAMKO frame guides nonfiction summaries, and why the 10-Word Summary is a flexible, engaging way to help students identify what matters most. Each of these frames provides the structure students need to confidently summarize without getting overwhelmed—and over time, they'll learn to do it independently. If your students struggle to write clear, concise summaries, this episode is for you. You'll learn how to model and scaffold each of these frames so students can see what an effective summary looks like. Plus, I share tips for deciding which frame to use, how to help students transition beyond them, and ways to make summarizing an engaging, low-stress part of your literacy routine.Join us in the Stellar Literacy Collective Membership: stellarteacher.com/join!Sign up for my FREE private podcast, the Confident Writer Systems Series, here!Sign up for my FREE Revision Made Easy email series here!Follow me on Instagram @thestellarteachercompany. On this week's Talkhouse Podcast we've got a pair of musicians with interesting backgrounds: one in computer engineering, the other in stand-up comedy. It's Vagabon and Jaboukie. Vagabon, aka New Yorker Lætitia Tamko, just released her third album under the name, and as you'll hear in this chat, it had been four years since her last. But Sorry I Haven't Called was worth the wait, and another cool stylistic leap. Tamko's first album, Infinite Worlds, felt like a fresh take on indie-rock; her second, a self-titled record from 2019, dipped more into more varied electronic pop. But Sorry I Haven't Called, which was partly produced by former Vampire Weekend guy Rostam, takes things even a step further, with an eye toward something even bigger and bolder. And even though the songs were inspired by a dark time in Tamko's life, they turned out incredibly buoyant and upbeat. Check out “Lexicon” right here. Jaboukie Young-White is best known as a stand-up comic, writer, and actor: You may have experienced his jokes on Big Mouth, or seen him as a correspondent on The Daily Show or acting in Only Murders in the Building. If you're a fan of this podcast, you may have heard him in conversation with Jonathan Pierce of the Drums a couple years back. But in the past couple of years, Jaboukie has set his last name aside and worked hard on his debut album, which just came out. It's called all who can't hear must feel, and it's an incredibly diverse set of songs that touches on a bunch of genres—rock, hyperpop, jungle—without sounding beholden to any one in particular. Jaboukie played almost every note of every instrument on the record, and as you'll hear, he spent a lot of time getting it just right. Check out “Cranberry Sauce” right here. In this chat, Jaboukie and Vagabon talk about how creating is like molting, about how music can feel more timeless than comedy, about “domming” your audience, and about how Janet Jackson is MOTHER. Enjoy. Thanks for listening to the Talkhouse Podcast, and thanks to Vagabon and Jaboukie for chatting. If you liked what you heard, please follow Talkhouse on your favorite podcasting platform and check out all the goodness elsewhere on this site. This episode was produced by Myron Kaplan, and the Talkhouse theme is composed and performed by the Range. See you next time!

ENDELEA KWENYE POST INAYOFUATA --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/siri-za-biblia/message

On this week's episode of the Talkhouse Podcast, we share a deep-diving conversation about the idea of space for BIPOC folks in indie rock venues — a discussion with the explicit intent "to talk about brown voices, and to talk about how we can uplift them." Black Belt Eagle Scout — real name Katherine Paul — is a self-described “radical indigenous queer feminist” who grew up on the Swinomish Indian Reservation in Northwest Washington state. KP, as she's known, is Swinomish and Iñupiaq (a Native community in Alaska). Here, she speaks with Sasami Ashworth, aka SASAMI, a Korean-American singer/songwriter and musician based in Los Angeles. Sasami made her name playing synth in Cherry Glazerr before going solo in 2018. Our special guest-host is Vagabon, or Lætitia Tamko, a Cameroonian-born singer/songwriter/producer. This episode was inspired by the Twitter backlash after a conversation Black Belt Eagle Scout had with Ailsa Chang on the NPR show All Things Considered. With Chang, KP discussed feeling uncomfortable with so many white people at her shows, as her music is intended for BIPOC folks, and stated: "It's for people of color, for indigenous people, for queer people, and white men are so fragile when I say stuff like that. It's because of white privilege and they don't often get told that." KP was obviously not advocating for banning white men from her shows, but for there to be more room at each performance for her community. Still, of course, a number of fragile white men took to Twitter calling KP racist, and hating on the show for having her on. I saw Lætitia and Sasami tweeting support for KP, with Sasami doing full on UFC-style e-battle with some trolls! I reached out the next day to offer the platform of the Talkhouse Podcast for an extended convo on the topic, one without journalists or "fragile white men" involved. This talk was recorded back in March, just before Covid-19 slammed the States, and before the Black Lives Matter movement's incredible recent strides. Keep it locked to hear about issues of safety and space in DIY touring, the importance of land acknowledgments, and actionable things that bands and fans can do. On this week’s episode of the Talkhouse Podcast, we share a deep-diving conversation about the idea of space for BIPOC folks in indie rock venues — a discussion with the explicit intent “to talk about brown voices, and to talk about how we can uplift them.” Black Belt Eagle Scout — real name Katherine Paul — is a self-described “radical indigenous queer feminist” who grew up on the Swinomish Indian Reservation in Northwest Washington state. KP, as she’s known, is Swinomish and Iñupiaq (a Native community in Alaska). Vagabon singer-songwriter Laetitia Tamko speaks with Kyle Meredith about how her self-titled, sophomore LP wound up with a very different sound. Tamko explains how a lack of community amidst a disappearing Brooklyn DIY scene left her with an opportunity for a chosen isolation. She discusses working with bathroom choirs, writing in French, and the expectations from being a multi-cultural artist. Tamko also gives the story behind a song originally written for Tegan and Sara, and her newest single: a grunge-driven song for the soundtrack to The Turning. On today's episode I talk to musicians Lætitia Tamko AKA Vagabon. Originally from Yaoundé, Cameroon, Lætitia and her family immigrated to the US when she was 13. While she graduated from CUNY with a degree in engineering, a chance event led her to playing music full time. Her first album Infinite Worlds was released in 2017 to general acclaim, and her latest album, the self-titled Vagabon, will be released on October 18 on Nonesuch Records! This is the website for Beginnings, subscribe on Apple Podcasts, follow me on Twitter.

She joins DJ Cheryl Waters in the KEXP Live Room to play songs from her debut as well as her highly anticipated self-titled follow up. In episode 61 sponsored by TAMKO roofing products, you'll hear about competition, change, and what it takes to win from the unique perspective of Donny DeMarie, President and CEO of Cameron Ashley, formerly known as Guardian Building Products. To wildly understate Donny's last 12 months—he's been busy. Following Guardian's acquisition in April 2018 by the private investment firm Pacific Avenue Capital Partners, Donny joined the distributor as President and CEO and began driving change and growth—something he has done successfully multiple times throughout his career. DeMarie's career began at Gale Industries, where he rose through the ranks to become President & CEO of Masco Contractor Services, which he grew from $350M to $2B. Re-branding Guardian as Cameron Ashley last month, Donny talks candidly about how he is not only changing the name, but the culture as well, playing to win, and having fun while doing all three simultaneously. Hartmann had the opportunity to meet up with Donny on the show floor of their annual buying show last month in Orlando—a phenomenal multi-day event for dealers and manufacturers that featured timely educational sessions (Hartmann hosted a pair of Skeptical Lumberman Guide to Social Media mini-workshops), a strong slate of speakers including Duke All-American and NBA champion, Shane Battier, and an evening at Universal Theme Park, Marvel Island. The message throughout the event was “play to win” and in this conversation DeMarie digs into what that means for Cameron Ashley—and the rest of the industry. Enjoy my conversation with Donny DeMarie, President and CEO of Cameron Ashley. Thanks for listening.
On this week's episode of the Talkhouse Podcast, another of the incredible conversations recorded backstage at Pitchfork Music Festival 2018: a talk between two of the breakout artists of 2017, Julie Byrne and Vagabon’s Laetitia Tamko. Fresh off a national co-headline tour, the friends sat down backstage to discuss the physical and the metaphysical elements of self-care on the road; the often delicate symbiosis of creating art and managing one’s business; the pressures of creating new music when people are watching; and that one guy in the front row in St Louis. Fuck that guy. Each summer, Pitchfork Music Festival brings to Chicago musical legends, the hottest new acts, and the artists that are about to become your new favorites. And for the past four years, Talkhouse has been backstage to record these artists in conversation. Over the coming weeks, we'll be bringing you the rad episodes we cut at the fest last month, including: Fleet Foxes' Robin Pecknold x Nilüfer Yanya Blood Orange's Dev Hynes x Raphael Saadiq Tierra Whack x Nnamdi Ogbonnaya Zola Jesus x Circuit des Yeux Vagabon's Lætitia Tamko x Julie Byrne This week, we kick off our series of Pitchfork Fest episodes with Japanese Breakfast's Michelle Zauner talking with Alex Cameron. Alex and Michelle chop it up about a lot, including their onstage electrocutions, the triumphs and tribulations of the hometown gig, Michelle's future music production goals, the massive on-stage panic attack that nearly ended Alex's career, and his collaborator Brandon Flowers’ extremely unorthodox way of recording The Killers’ vocals. Lætitia Tamko, who makes poignant indie rock and electronic soundscapes as Vagabon, stops by Billboard to fill us in on her crazy journey of the past three years. Since teaching herself guitar and playing frequent DIY shows around New York, the Cameroon-born artist has made moves she never would have expected when she started: a bona fide headlining tour, dates opening for Tegan and Sara, a Pitchfork Best New Music distinction for her debut album "Infinite Worlds." Here's how she did it, and how you can do it, too. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Under the Vagabon moniker, singer-songwriter Lætitia Tamko built her reputation show by show through New York's indie music scene. The DIY environment was a supportive incubator that nurtured Lætitia from her first performance in 2014 at Brooklyn's Silent Barn community art space to the release of this year's Infinite Worlds album. The critically-acclaimed, full-length debut has garnered praise from Pitchfork, NPR and W magazine. What once seemed like an impossible dream to pursue music has led the Cameroon-born Lætitia from living room concerts in front of a handful of people to sold-out shows on her first UK four.
