Want to know how to lose weight during stressful times? Want to know the missing element to “lose it and don't gain it back” weight loss success? If so, you do NOT want to miss this incredible story of . . . Crash diet after crash diet ... Seeing family members and friends shunned and rejected because of their weight … An absolute “hurricane of life-altering stress” … To this direct quote from Julie … “I was completely overwhelmed and I was exhausted. And weight loss was the last thing I wanted to think about. But I still tried to cram it in. And then when I couldn't do it or stick to it, what went through my brain was … >> You're just not disciplined. >> You have no self control >> If you would just try harder, you could do this. >> You're not trying hard enough. I felt very incompetent and I was just losing in the self esteem and self worth category. I went through a really dark time and I just didn't care anymore. I was trying to lose weight to avoid the pain of rejection from being overweight.” Slim Fast, Whole30, Atkins, debilitating sickness, off-the-charts stress, family tragedy, and a ton of pressure to lose weight. Today Julie shares her amazing story and then reveals what was the missing ingredient that eventually lead her to life-changing (and body-changing) weight loss success! www.SelfLoveMonth.com

What you grieve reveals what you cherish. There is no right or wrong way to navigate the stages of grief. It's a part of Earth School that is painful, messy, and holy. Despite many cultural and societal expectations around grief, at the end of the day this deeply personal process is yours—and the bigger the love, the deeper the loss will be. The tenderness of grief brings out your true humanity. Allowing space for vulnerability is a form of self-care and a way you can honor your emotions and love without limitations or a timeline. Today Julie and Brenda share stories of grief, and how you can allow the Other Side to hold and comfort you in this sacred, transformative space. How would it feel to learn why you view the world around you the way that you do? From the moment you entered Earth School, your mind, body and soul energetically scoped the scene, asking "where is my place in this system?" In a world full of questions, many without answers—remembering who you are, and learning why you are that way—is the key to living fully and feeling right at home, wherever you may be. This insight can be gained when you study the map of your mind through the teachings of the Enneagram. Today Julie and Brenda introduce you to the Enneagram and share just a taste of the awesomeness it reveals about each and every one of us. Through the Enneagram, you learn to build compassion for yourself and others, personally and professionally. Brenda has been teaching the Enneagram for over a decade and leads the discussion today in her gentle and insightful way. Come explore the Enneagram with us! Earth School is hard until you know who you are... Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com
Today's tender subject matter will remind you that love never dies. Loss in any form is hard to deal with, but when it's the loss of a child, the depth of that heartbreaking wound never heals; nor should you expect it to. The bond is eternal, and the love lives on. Losing a child is soul-crushing, goes against the natural order of life as we know it, and is one of the hardest Earth-School lessons to accept. Know that through the grief there is healing. Trust that you will be reunited someday. Always remember that you are held in this space, and your baby is held too. Today Julie and Brenda share deeply intimate stories of sacred love and loss. They discuss the stages of grief and offer comfort to those who have experienced and witnessed the loss of such beautiful, wise and tender spirits. When we share our moments of heartbreak, we share and expand our healing. Sometimes life and love makes sense, and sometimes it doesn't. Allow the Other Side to hold you always, as it so lovingly longs to. Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

How important is it to Forgive? Forgiving someone takes courage, strength, and empathy. And sometimes it's hard to rally, especially when we feel crushed by the actions of another. What can be even more difficult, is forgiving ourselves. Seeking, offering, and granting forgiveness is a key part of Earth School. It's the way to clear hurts and entanglements that carry a low-vibe. And just like love, forgiveness must be given unconditionally. Today Julie and Brenda share their practices and rituals, and guide you through St. Germaines powerful Prayer of Forgiveness. Free your heart and lift the weight holding a grudge leaves, with tools and guidance from the Other Side. Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

Today Julie talks about transparency. What it is and why you need to adopt it in both your business and personal life. KEY TAKEAWAYS Transparency was a bit of a ‘buzz word’ a few years ago and it appears to have gone out of fashion. Julie believes that if it is something we could all do in our businesses and in our life then our relationships will be so much better. Transparency is about being open and honest, contributing ideas, opinions and proposals. It’s also about challenging what needs to be challenged and feedback loops. If we allow tension and resentment to build then it will seriously impact and damage, within business and life in general. It isn’t about nit-picking, it isn’t about telling everything to everybody all of the time, there are boundaries in place with transparency and we are transparent with a principled approach with those boundaries in mind. Think about how to deliver the message with respect, to ensure it is used to resolve an issue straight away. Transparency is a learned behaviour, so everyone can learn how to be fully transparent. If you want to know more about transparency or have someone come in and talk to your team (whether in person or online) then get in touch with Julie today as she can help you with this, it is one of her absolute passions! BEST MOMENTS “Transparency in its purest form means not holding back, not brooding and not allowing tensions or resentments to build” “Transparency is saying how it is for you, using the language of I, being genuine and authentic” “I can really help you do it, it doesn’t matter who you are” VALUABLE RESOURCES The Life-Changing Magic of Setting Goals book by Julie Hogbin The Authorities - Julie Hogbin: Powerful Wisdom from Leaders in the field book by Julie Hogbin, Raymond Aaron, Marci Shimoff, Dr John Gray ABOUT THE HOST Julie Hogbin I started my career within the accountancy profession, moving on into auditing, then Learning & Development where I have spent over 30 years. The Brave Learner: Julie Bogart Julie Bogart is a veteran homeschool mom to 5 kids. She is the creator of the award winning Brave Writer program and founder of the Homeschool Alliance. Her new book, The Brave Learner, is a must-have homeschool companion. Talking to Julie is like having a friend over for a cup of tea (or coffee). Her excitement over finding the love of learning is contagious. The Idea Of Homeschool Julie was pitched the idea of homeschooling in 1984 by a friend of her soon-to-be husband. Even though she had never heard of "homeschool" he sold her on the idea. It was the idea of creating a learning experience with your children that could be tailor-made to their aptitudes. An experience that could be creative and bonding as a family. After this, Julie was ready to homeschool. Today Julie supports thousands of homeschoolers in their homeschool journey. Her writing program supports and guides families in writing. The Homeschool Alliance is a vibrant support community for homeschool parents. Her podcast gives a voice of encouragement. I find myself nodding my head to the stories that Julie shares. In This Episode In this interview Julie continues the conversation around learning, homeschool and family. She tackles the fear many homeschool moms have- how will the kids really turn out? Julie's shares so many personal stories in this episode. The biggest concern that she hears from homeschool parents- How do I know I'm giving as good an education as what they're getting in the schools? Julie's answer is in the anecdote she tells of her husband's textbook contract. Why Julie thought she had failed her son Noah in math. But how homeschool-tailoring the educational experience to the child's personality and needs- supported him in just the way he needed. The experience of going on a dinner "date" with her son Jacob when he was 14. Only to find out his purpose was to tell her how homeschool was limiting his potential. She shares the realization he came to later. The biggest gift of home education for her family. We did not miss talking about Julie's new book, THE BRAVE LEARNER. We focused on the 3 Levels of Learning (Reading. Experience. Encounter) that Julie talks about in the book and how this impacts learning. Are you a Brave Learner? You don't have to be a homeschool parent to model brave learning. Do you want to rekindle curiosity, courage and enchantment? I'd love to hear your reflections from this interview. Today Julie talks to Justice David Price of the Ontario Superior Court, where he sits as a family court judge, about two issues that regularly raise anxieties and challenges for self-represented litigants: how to reduce the chances of being ordered to pay the costs of the other side, and how to organize and present arguments in court. Justice Price presents clear information for members of the public who are unable to afford expert assistance and are obliged to represent themselves. We also asked two SRLs, Jana Saracevic and Elizabeth Roberts, to comment on Justice Price’s “tutorial” and to reflect on how they learned to find their way through the system without this information. In other news: Ontario, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia celebrate their A2J weeks with fantastic events across the country this month. Today Julie and Dayna discuss what has been happening in Canadian courts following the Pintea decision, made 18 months ago by the Supreme Court of Canada, which set a new standard for how courts deal with self-represented litigants. Pintea instructed other courts to always consider the fact that SRLs are not equally familiar or knowledgeable about law as experienced legal counsel, and that judges should assist to ensure they understand the process and can meaningfully participate. We ask Colin Feasby of Oslers Hoskin Harcourt, who was pro bono counsel for Mr. Pintea, and Ranjan Agarwal, pro bono counsel for NSRLP's intervention, what they think about the information in our "hot off the presses" report on cases decided across the country involving SRLs post-Pintea. In other news: Ali recaps our wonderfully successful 5th anniversary “Continuing the Dialogue” event at Windsor Law last week, which saw justice system stakeholders and SRLs from across Canada and the US come together to discuss the state of Access to Justice, and practical steps we can take to reduce the justice gap. Stay tuned for our upcoming Dialogue Event episode! Partnerships in business are tricky and don’t always result in success. On today’s episode of The Road to Seven podcast I’m speaking with Julie Cole, a recovered lawyer, mom of six and co-founder of Mable’s Labels. She has helped bring the company to a worldwide market, gain media recognition and win countless entrepreneur awards. Today Julie and I talk about growing a business—which ended up being sold for millions of dollars—and how she built it in a partnership. Takeaways from this episode No matter what the vision is, take it seriously and take the proper steps to get that foundation in place You will never work harder in your life—a start-up is hustle all the time If you’re thinking about starting a business with someone put a shareholder agreement together while you’re all still friends Before you start make sure that all the humans in your life know what it will actually look like so your support system is strong Keep revisiting your business plan and make sure you’re on track Don’t be afraid to ask for help; don’t let your ego ruin things Know your exit plan—are you growing it to sell your business or are you growing it to leave it as a legacy?
