One of the many challenges small businesses face is the lack of affordable options for hiring consulting firms. Large consulting firms won't bother to work with solopreneurs or firms with less than ten employees because of their uniqueness. Most of those small firms are hands-on businesses that can't afford to invest the time or the resources, and on the other hand, those high-priced consultants tend to sell services that aren't needed, ignoring their clients' needs.Having these issues in mind, using their background in the corporate world and their experience working for Fortune 500 companies, Julie Traxler and Corey Harris founded SB PACE, whose mission is to offer value to every client, never sell services that aren't needed, and fully understand what a client needs before selling them anything. Julie Traxler and Corey Harris are business coaches passionate about helping small businesses owners succeed. They also have a podcast, QuizBiz, and they are best-selling authors of the book "Seriously? We All Feel the Strain Julie Burton's neverending stress as a business leader and mother were causing her constant strain and pushing her toward a breaking point, and under this tremendous pressure she realized that she hadn't been taking time for herself. Realizing that this wasn't a problem exclusive to her, she polled mothers all over the country about their stresses and worries. The remarkable feedback she got from other mothers became the foundation of Julie's book, The Self-Care Solution. During the global pandemic, we need Julie's wisdom more than ever. As Julie mentioned in the discussion, every one of us feels the strain and pressure, and we must allow ourselves space to experience these sometimes overwhelming feelings. Too often, we believe that “being strong” requires being immune to the emotional weight of our challenges, but Julie believes that it's okay to admit we're worried and that we don't have all the answers. Taking Care of Ourselves and Connecting With Others Julie created ModernWell, a women-centric collaborative workspace in Minnesota, with the goal of helping busy women leaders and mothers connect in powerful, supportive ways, harkening back to ancient times when women would gather at the well to collect water and would talk, socialize, and counsel each other. However, the global pandemic has forced ModernWell to adapt to the new reality of social distancing while keeping members safe and healthy, through virtual events and other innovations. Julie refuses to let the core idea behind ModernWell die, because she believes that, especially in times of crisis, we need our connections to others to help us support ourselves and each other.

Communitas helps businesses connect with their authentic purpose, core values, and guiding principles to drive meaningful, sustainable growth.Today, you'll learn: Why Julie founded Communitas following 25 years in advertising in PR; the concept of "corporate conscience" The importance of practicing what you preach, as a company Given the current context, thoughts on brands fronting caring to gain value and share, versus actually practicing this same concern for workers before preaching it across the airwaves. Were brands operationalizing this care before the crisis, or did COVID force them to start? How the proportions of "social concern" marketing may forever change based on COVID. Will there be a new heightened floor for it? How brands leveraging consumers as a channel for growth will change (become more important) going forward What Julie envisions for the future of brands practicing what they preach with regard to values Be sure to stay subscribed for more content and thought leadership like this, and do please leave a rating and review on iTunes if you like what you hear: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/authentic-influence/id1440872576.Be sure to follow our LinkedIn page to catch all of our content there: https://www.linkedin.com/showcase/authentic-influence-podcast/.Reach out to Adam Conner on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/adamjconner/ or via email at adam.conner@govivoom.com with suggestions for guests, content, or general interest/feedback.Find more at https://www.podcast.vivoom.co/.Enjoy!Music: "Streetview" by Jahzzar is licensed under a Attribution-ShareAlike License (CC BY-SA 4.0)

Audrey:  It's such a relativistic world.  And unarmed with that skill, it's easy to fall victim to "It's my truth.  It's your truth, and just do your thing.  Just tolerate everything and anything goes."  That's a recipe for disaster that leads to personal destruction, family destruction and societal destruction.  We're watching that happen and we want to put the brakes on it...We have a conscience and we have God and we receive answers from him, but He also wants us to do our part.  He wants us to exercise our minds and to put our own effort in and He'll guide us to the truth if we'll submit and commit ourselves. Julie:  The thing I really want to emphasize is He's already been guiding us but it's usually through feelings or a few little ideas here and there, but the real change is looking straight, right at that truth, that principle that will even make us make the better choices.  Audrey:  Because then that's the foundation, that's solid, that's not like "well that felt like a good idea last time but I'm not sure what to do this time."  You have this whole paradigm shift of "actually God puts laws in place and they always guide us and my job is just to find them and I'll build…this solid foundation"….It's so empowering.

The Brave Learner: Julie Bogart Julie Bogart is a veteran homeschool mom to 5 kids. She is the creator of the award winning Brave Writer program and founder of the Homeschool Alliance. Her new book, The Brave Learner, is a must-have homeschool companion. Talking to Julie is like having a friend over for a cup of tea (or coffee). Her excitement over finding the love of learning is contagious. The Idea Of Homeschool Julie was pitched the idea of homeschooling in 1984 by a friend of her soon-to-be husband. Even though she had never heard of "homeschool" he sold her on the idea. It was the idea of creating a learning experience with your children that could be tailor-made to their aptitudes. An experience that could be creative and bonding as a family. After this, Julie was ready to homeschool. Today Julie supports thousands of homeschoolers in their homeschool journey. Her writing program supports and guides families in writing. The Homeschool Alliance is a vibrant support community for homeschool parents. Her podcast gives a voice of encouragement. I find myself nodding my head to the stories that Julie shares. In This Episode In this interview Julie continues the conversation around learning, homeschool and family. She tackles the fear many homeschool moms have- how will the kids really turn out? Julie's shares so many personal stories in this episode. The biggest concern that she hears from homeschool parents- How do I know I'm giving as good an education as what they're getting in the schools? Julie's answer is in the anecdote she tells of her husband's textbook contract. Why Julie thought she had failed her son Noah in math. But how homeschool-tailoring the educational experience to the child's personality and needs- supported him in just the way he needed. The experience of going on a dinner "date" with her son Jacob when he was 14. Only to find out his purpose was to tell her how homeschool was limiting his potential. She shares the realization he came to later. The biggest gift of home education for her family. We did not miss talking about Julie's new book, THE BRAVE LEARNER. We focused on the 3 Levels of Learning (Reading. Experience. Encounter) that Julie talks about in the book and how this impacts learning. Are you a Brave Learner? You don't have to be a homeschool parent to model brave learning. Do you want to rekindle curiosity, courage and enchantment? I'd love to hear your reflections from this interview. On today’s episode I’m super pumped to bring you my friend Julie Solomon, who is an expert in this field. Julie is the host of The Influencer Podcast, which is one of the top podcasts in the Business category on iTunes (in fact, her show is one of the few that I make sure to listen to regularly)! J ulie is also a New York Times best selling publicist, and an influencer marketing educator. I asked her to come on the podcast to share her expertise on building influence, and she delivers in a big way. If you’re using Facebook Ads to build your business, but frustrated that they’re not working, one reason I’ve seen for this is that a lot of people haven’t done the work to position themselves as a go-to resource in their respective niche. Julie shares strategies for building influence today, without it being overwhelming, and she breaks it down into 3 simple questions to ask yourself. She talks about how to get brand deals when you don’t have a ton of followers or fans as well. Julie reveals how influence marketing is changing the marketing game, and I even ask her for her thoughts on why the word “Influencer” comes with such a negative connotation. You’re going to also find out how to equate ROI as an influencer, why brand awareness is such a problem for so many people online today, how to fix this issue, and so much more. Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. How do you listen to this podcast? Is it in the iTunes app, Stitcher, Spotify or maybe iHeart Radio? Do you listen to it at regular speed, or maybe like me you listen to your podcasts at 1.5X speed? I want to know! This episode is especially for anyone in a leadership position — teachers, coaches, managers, etc. It's a great reminder that by helping others — YOU will be more fulfilled. Conversely, by taking care of yourself — THOSE AROUND YOU will be more fulfilled. Again, the duality of yin and yang is present. Raul and Julie, husband and wife, are two martial arts students from HKA. They join Sensei Hoover and Steve Mittman to talk about the opportunities teachers have to change lives. Julie has been a teacher for many years and has used her position to positively affect countless students, in numerous and various ways. She's able to do these things — major to minor — because she comes from a source of mental, physical, and spiritual strength. She has this strength because she does what it takes to nurture it. Because she is "in a good place" she has "it" to give to others. She takes her role as an educator very seriously, as all teachers should. Listen and you'll see for yourself. You'll also hear us talk about: How we breathe and bleed the same Why we bow in class and to each other How neither culture nor religion separate us Why we wear the same uniform, and sometimes no belts How our martial arts dojo is a microcosm of the larger world Why Julie prefers the word “acceptance” over the word “tolerance” The principle we all abide by is to work hard and strive to be the best we can be Our own unique stories and backgrounds, yet how we are ultimately all the same

It all began in January 2013 when the Soyentist, Derek, and his (then) 9 year old daughter, Erin, were looking for a craft project to work on together. They settled on making candles. Starting with a kit from Hobby Lobby, they soon found that they really enjoyed making candles and loved discovering and creating new scents. Being a high school science teacher, the Soyentist then researched types of soy wax, optimal wick thickness, scents, scent throws … and the experimenting began. Encouraged by the early response, they decided it was time to start marketing their product. The Lab Assoystant, Julie, (a middle school science teacher) developed the name and labels. She also started labeling jars, setting wicks, creating an inventory, and selecting their favorite scents. The product debuted in May, 2013 and things really started hopping. The results are in and I am happy to announce the three winners of our art competition. Take a look at the end of this post for images and links for our second and third place winners. Our first place winner is Julie Beck. Julie is an artist from upstate New York who currently lives and works as an art instructor in Boston. In our conversation, we discuss the benefit of being part of an art community, why it’s important to take risks, how she signs her paintings, and much more! I can’t wait for you to hear from all three of my guests, starting with the talented Julie Beck. What is so great about titling paintings? Maybe you are like me and you really don’t enjoy the process of coming up with a title for your artwork. Then again, maybe you are more like my guest, Julie Beck. Julie loves the process of deciding on a title for her paintings. In fact, Julie talks about the process a bringing a further depth and layer to her artwork. In our conversation, Julie opens up about how she decides on a title and she even shares that she has a list of “Orphaned titles.” What is your process for deciding on a title like? What can you learn from Julie’s process and passion for this task? Why is it important to be connected to an art community? What has been your experience with getting connected to an art community? Have you had good and positive experiences or have you struggled to find your tribe? Artist Julie Beck says that finding a vibrant and robust artist community has had a profound impact on her development and growth as an artist. Julie goes on to share that one of the best ways to break out of a funk or difficult season as an artist is to get around other creative individuals, it doesn’t have to be other artists. I hope artists like you get the chance to connect with a supportive and inspiring art community like Julie has! How taking risks can grow you and help you succeed. Does taking risks come easy to you or do you find it to be difficult? What has informed your relationship with risk? Were you taught to avoid risks or were you taught to chase them? Do you see risks as beneficial or dangerous? My guest, Julie Beck has, at times struggled with taking risks. Her painting that won our contest serves as her evidence that she is fighting her impulse to avoid risks. In our conversation, Julie shared with me how she came to branch out and try something different with this painting. As she describes it, this was a departure for Julie, she usually works in a very controlled and measured process. It was fascinating to hear from Julie’s perspective and how she embraced this scary, vulnerable, and rewarding experience. Make sure to check out the image of Julie’s work that won our contest at the end of this post! The power of reminding yourself that you are a professional artist. What habits have helped you build your confidence and succeed as an artist? Are you still looking for tips and insights that will help you as you grow in your profession? Artist Julie Beck was kind enough to share a helpful practice that might encourage artists like you as try to find ways to stay motivated. For Julie, things started to click for her when she made that decision to take herself seriously as an artist. To keep the momentum going, Julie created a folder on her computer desktop titled, “I am an artist.” As she continued to create and build her portfolio, she would add to that folder, gaining more and more confidence each time. I hope you pick up on the sense of accomplishment and success that comes across from Julie’s story and I hope you find your way to a similar experience!
