A childhood memory of two sisters arguing at a kitchen table leads historian Jackie Dorothy to uncover an astounding truth — her great-grandfather wasn't just any Wyoming cowboy, he was part of Butch Cassidy's infamous Hole-in-the-Wall Gang. As an award-winning historian and member of the Northern Arapaho tribe, Jackie shares how she pieced together newspaper clippings, tribal records, and family stories to reveal her ancestor's double life: respected family man by day, outlaw by night. Through her research, she discovered that Wyoming wasn't just a setting for outlaw tales — it was a refuge where people came to reinvent themselves, often leaving their true identities buried in the past. Join us for a fascinating exploration of how one family's "shameful secret" transformed into a celebrated piece of Wyoming history, and discover how your own family legends might hold more truth than you imagine.Listen to Jackie's podcast Pioneers of Outlaw Country〰️
Kevin Milne recently made an investment into a local art piece – a work called ‘Black Beard' by Simon Kerr. The former leader of the notorious Hole in the Wall Gang, Kerr has shifted focus from crime to painting. He also recently saw the huge Banksy exhibition at Wellington's Tākina exhibition centre, and it got him thinking about the contrast in his and Kerr's circumstances. Anthony "Tony the Ant" Spilotro was a notorious enforcer for the Chicago Outfit, known for his brutal tactics and his role in expanding the Mafia's influence in Las Vegas during the 1970s and 1980s. Born and raised in Chicago, Spilotro quickly ascended the ranks of the Mafia due to his aptitude for violence and loyalty to the organization. In Las Vegas, he oversaw the Outfit's lucrative skimming operations from casinos and established himself as a dominant force in the city's underworld. Spilotro also led the "Hole in the Wall Gang," a crew of burglars known for their daring heists, which further solidified his reputation for ruthless efficiency. His violent methods, such as the notorious torture and murder of Billy McCarthy and Jimmy Miraglia, were designed to instill fear and maintain control over the city's criminal landscape. However, Spilotro's aggressive tactics eventually drew the attention of federal law enforcement, leading to increased scrutiny and pressure from the FBI. The turning point came when his close associate, Frank Cullotta, turned informant, providing authorities with critical information that compromised Spilotro's operations. As his criminal empire began to crumble, Spilotro became a liability to the Chicago Outfit. In 1986, he and his brother Michael were brutally murdered by fellow mobsters in a cornfield, a stark reminder of the Mafia's unforgiving code of loyalty and retribution. Spilotro's life and death underscore the perilous nature of power in the criminal underworld, where ambition and violence often lead to a swift and brutal end.(commercial at 10:42)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.com

Interview with actress Bridget Moynahan and Jimmy Canton of The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp
We're at the midpoint of April - Sexual Assault Awareness Month - so we're highlighting a couple of agencies providing support to victims beginning with the Susan B. Anthony Project - celebrating 40 years of service in Torrington and communities in central Litchfield County. Then we'll head to Meriden to chat with folks from the Women and Families Center, which provides sexual assault support services, as well as a number of other critical programs focusing on youth homelessness and workforce development. Their first ever Walk for Hope to End Homelessness is coming up, so we'll clue you in on that as well. Finally, we're taking the long road up to Ashford to let everyone know Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Gang Camp is back following a devastating fire - and is ready to re-open better than ever for the kids and volunteers who support them.
This week's guest is Tamara Doerksen, multi-preneur, published author, yoga and meditation and mindfulness teacher, and a career transition and entrepreneur coach. She's also the founder of the non-profit organization, Lonny's Smile.I chatted with Tamara from her home in Toronto, Canada. She started her career at a global consulting company where she spent 25 years. Around 2010, an initiative of the company around community contribution and responsibility, along with some personal circumstances with ailing parents, set Tamara off on her path to founding her own non-profit. You'll hear the entire story around Lonny's Smile which helps kids with congenital heart defects including the absolute synergy that led to choosing Camp OKI, the benefactor of the non-profit.Through her work with Great Big Sea's Murray Foster, Tamara ended up working in film production and then collaborating with Darren Portelli at Crazy D's Prebiotic Sparkling Sodas. In talking through Tamara's career transitions, we delve into having faith in oneself, transferable skills and our abilities to pursue various occupations within our careers. Tamara uses yoga and meditation to ground herself and give her space. And, she is certified to teach both! Some just practiced these things during the pandemic, others like Tamara got certified!Main topics:Having multiple facets to your careerProcessing grief over timeNon-profit work and founding a non-profitYoga and mindfulness practicesSaying “yes” and pursuing what you loveNote from Rabiah (Host): I have had a chance to speak with quite a few people and sometimes I have a different connection with them. In this case, Tamara and I both lost a sibling though at very different times in our lives under different circumstances. (TW: we talk about the death of a sibling.) Her honouring her brother through a non-profit organization is something I really wanted to chat with her about and then we had a lot more to talk about too! Happy Full House Friday Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast. Today, I covered the first episode in the SISTERS Double Feature PART 2 for August, Full House S4E21: The Hole-in-the-Wall Gang, which aired on March 1, 1991. In this episode Jesse and Joey set about renovating the attic into a loft for newlyweds Jesse and Becky. DJ and Stephanie argue after Stephanie starts dressing like DJ because she wants to be just like her big sister, which leads to a hole in the wall in Danny's room. How did the hole get there, you ask? Well, you'll just have to listen to find out. I liked this episode. My older sister and I have about the same age difference as DJ and Steph do. The difference, there are a couple. We never shared a room and I never wore my sister's clothes (that I know of) growing up. The fix up the attic into a loft apartment plot with Jesse and Joey was goofy. Whether Joey is good with tools, we may never know because Jesse never gave Joey or us the chance to find out. We do know Joey is good at fixing a sandwich, We see the results. Join me next week when I cover the next episode in the SISTERS Double Feature PART 2, Full House S5E14: Sisters in Crime, which aired on December 17, 1991. In this episode While the guys are at a hockey game, DJ is in charge, but when a hunky guy comes over and asks DJ to the movies, she agrees. Then she realizes that she has to take the girls. At the movies Stephanie spends all of her money at the concession stand, leaving DJ with no money for the tickets. So she asks Kimmy to sneak them in (Kimmy works there). The manager of the movie theater catches them and DJ has to cut the date short. Then she has to teach her sisters to lie so that she doesn't get caught. Have a great weekend everyone and I hope you enjoy the episode! To EMAIL The Podcast GO TO: omhcfhfhpodcast@gmail.com

Happy Fuller House Friday, Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast. Today, in honor of Michael Campion's (Jackson Fuller) Birthday, I covered Fuller House S4E8: Driving Mr. Jackson, which aired on December 14, 2018. In this episode Jackson and Ramona's first high school party has major consequences, when Jackson got drunk. Becky and Jesse team up to host an awards show, where a big win goes to Matt's head. I enjoyed this episode, but honestly could have done with Gia as well as that adulterous woman from the Mommy and Me class that was constantly hitting on Jesse to the point of getting a little too handsy with him. We really didn't need the Jesse and Becky sideplot IMO because it took away from what could have been a better episode with Jackson facing the consequences from DJ due to his drinking at a party. The talk could have been better like Jesse and DJ in Full House Season 3 Just Say No Way better. Granted it wasn't horrible but, more time could have been spent on it, is all I'm saying. The day of her wedding, 17 year old Ada's life looks good; she loves her husband, and she loves working as an apprentice to her mother, a respected midwife. But after a year of marriage and no pregnancy, in a town where barren women are routinely hanged as witches, her survival depends on leaving behind everything she knows. She joins up with the notorious Hole in the Wall Gang, a band of outlaws led by a preacher-turned-robber known to all as the Kid. Charismatic, grandiose, and mercurial, the Kid is determined to create a safe haven for outcast women. But to make this dream a reality, the Gang hatches a treacherous plan that may get them all killed. And Ada must decide whether she's willing to risk her life for the possibility of a new kind of future for them all. Featuring an irresistibly no-nonsense, courageous, and determined heroine, Outlawed dusts off the myth of the old West and reignites the glimmering promise of the frontier with an entirely new set of feminist stakes. Anna North has crafted a pulse-racing, page-turning saga about the search for hope in the wake of death, and for truth in a climate of small-mindedness and fear." We're excited to be chatting with Jessica Santos today of The Painted Turtle. Many of you listening may have heard of its Founder, the late actor Paul Newman. Over 30 years ago, Paul Newman founded the camp as part of his SeriousFun Network of camps which includes The Hole in the Wall Gang on the East Coast. His vision was to create a free camp where kids could escape the fear and isolation of their medical conditions and, in his words, “Raise a little Hell.” Tune in for the interview! @kiddontkillmyvibe www.thepaintedturtle.org
The 1995 movie, "Casino" directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Sharon Stone is, in my opinion, an absolute classic and a must-watch for anyone at all interested in Las Vegas. The film - which just celebrated its 25th anniversary - tells the story of Sam "Ace" Rothstein, an expert sports-handicapper who's sent to Las Vegas by the Chicago Outfit to oversee the skimming operations at the fictional Tangiers Hotel & Casino. "Casino" is based on actual events and pulls its story from the book, "Casino: Love and Honor in Las Vegas", written by Nicholas Pileggi who co-wrote the screenplay along with Martin Scorsese. As always, whenever a book based on a true story makes a move to the big screen, there's certain plot points that tend to be overly dramatized (or even flat-out made up) for the sake of entertainment. My guest for this episode of the podcast is here to help shed some light on some of the Fact vs. Fiction aspects of "Casino". Geoff Schumacher is the Vice President of Exhibits & Programs at the Mob Museum in Las Vegas. He was kind enough to join me to help separate reality from fantasy when it comes to the world of "Ace" Rothstein/"Lefty" Rosenthal. Did hotel security actually smash a cheater's hand with a hammer? Did an FBI surveillance plane actually run out of gas and land on a golf course fairway? Was there really an issue with blueberry muffins? We get the answers to these questions - and many more! Visit The Mob Museum's official website and be sure to follow them on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram. Also, be sure to subscribe to the Mob Museum's YouTube channel where you can check out virtual tours, special presentations and more! And if you want to really get into Las Vegas history and read the true story of Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal, Anthony Spilotro, the Hole in the Wall Gang and the massive Stardust skimming operation, pick up your copy of "Casino: Love and Honor in Las Vegas" by Nicholas Pileggi.
We are so excited to discuss Outlawed! We all absolutely loved it, and if you haven't read it, you need to. It's set in the past (and an alternate past) and it still feels very timely. Harry Tracy, a gunfighter from Butch Cassidy's Wild Bunch (the Hole in the Wall Gang) was trying to shoot his way back to Idaho and rejoin the gang after breaking out of the state pen in Salem; he killed 11 men before being shot down (Salem, Marion County; 1902) (For text and pictures, see http://www.offbeatoregon.com/H1007b_outlaw-tracy.html)
Directed by George Roy Hill, the 1969 film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid stars Paul Newman as the affable Butch, Robert Redford as the somewhat more cantankerous Sundance, and Katharine Ross as school teacher turned outlaw Etta Place. At the time we meet them, Butch, Sundance and their Hole in the Wall Gang are already established and notorious outlaws, but the sun is quickly setting on their once-wild West. When Mr. E.H. Herriman of the Union Pacific Railroad takes umbrage at the way his trains have been targeted by the gang, he organizes a superposse to track down and kill Butch and Sundance, prompting the two outlaws, along with Etta, to abscond to Bolivia — where, amazingly, they manage for a time to enjoy a wildly successful second act to their criminal careers. But, alas, no one can outrun time forever. Marking the finale of Viewfinder Film Club's first season, this episode also features our very first special guest: Logan Hall, grandson of Butch and Sundance's Oscar-winning cinematographer Conrad Hall, ASC. Saddle up, enjoy the ride, and stay tuned for Season 2!

It’s entirely possible that just about now you’re getting really tired of the coronavirus situation. I’m tired of staying inside so much, tired of the restrictions and the dumb ways people are implementing them (or NOT implementing them as the case may be. I'm tired of going into the bank looking like I’m part of the Hole in the Wall Gang. I’m tired of Zooming!!What do we do when we feel inundated, overwhelmed by life and BURIED by all the things we have to deal with. How do we rise above it?The 40-day event we’re looking at today comes from a guy we might never have suspected would ever get down or be discouraged – yet he was. When God chose two heroes of the faith to talk with and encourage Jesus at the Mt. of Transfiguration, this guy was one of the two selected. He was a man who literally heard God’s voice, speaking for God as a prophet. He walked in obedience; he was a prayer warrior; through Elijah God performed some pretty amazing miracles. And finally, at the end of his life Elijah didn’t even have to die, but was taken up to be with the Lord in a chariot of fire. This is Elijah – and this morning I want to take a look at a 40-day period in Elijah’s life that came immediately after a spiritual high. The background to the story comes from 1 Kings 18. And it’s a great story that really shows what kind of guy Elijah was – the boldness in which he lived out his faith in God.
In a moment of impulsiveness, the core members of the infamous "Hole in the Wall Gang" dressed up and posed for a group picture in a Ft. Worth professional studio. Once that picture was developed, it was posted and circulated into the hands of every law enforcement agency in the country. That photo sealed the doom of this illusive gang, because no longer did the police have to rely on sketches, drawings, and verbal recollections of what these men looked like. They now had an actual photograph of Butch Cassidy and his gang to work from.
Do you have an ego? Sure, we all do. But does your ego get you in trouble on the trails ever? I hope so, because then you're going to definitely relate to the crew tonight. We start off discussing the difference between "running" a race and "racing" a race (if you don't know you better ask somebody). We then have a 2+ hour heart to heart talk on ego; how it pumps us up to be the best we can be but also how it can ultimately wreck our shit. As a co-owner of G.O.A.T Mafya Fitness, Andy Bermans main mission is to make each individual client feel and strive to be their personal best. Seeing that most of his life revolves around fitness, it's only fitting that he blends together his love of being a personal trainer with his love of charity. He has started and assisted with numerous charities including the Push Against Cancer for the Hole in the Wall Gang (raising over half a million), Hang Like Coffman, and worked with Scott Johnson (host of The Mack Talks) with his foundation, Newtown Strong. In the words of Berman, "I was merely a stepping stone for so many people to do the right thing." Charity is a selfless act. Birdies for Charity
Celebrities can create some interesting opportunities for themselves but it's not all easy peasy. They fall in to some traps where they might rely on their name to push a crappy product just for the sake of pushing a product. (Kardashian's anyone?)Or they aren't taken seriously even though the product IS worthwhile because they're a celebrity. That isn't fair either. Then there are the celebrities that fall in to the 3rd group where they decide to do things their way to promote a great product and won't go for the shameless exploitation. Paul Newman was that guy. A celebrity who happened to have a great idea for a high quality salad dressing but who initially refused to use his celebrity to make it happen. He believed enough in the product to try and make it on quality alone. Reality proved to be more of a challenge than movies and he eventually had to resort to a bit of shameless exploitation in order to get his product out. The game changer? He didn't do it for himself. He didn't do it to add to his bank account. He was willing to put his face and name on a product for one reason: kids. The altruistic and philanthropic focus of helping kids dealing with life threatening illness go to camp and forget about being a sick kid for a time. If there's any good reason to go for shameless exploitation, then his Hole in the Wall Gang camps would be it. This was a great read and provided some insight in to a celebrity that has left a legacy far beyond his movie roles. For any business owner, you'll find inspiration and ideas in this book to help you stick to your vision and deliver a product worthy of your name and, if you choose, face.

The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp is dedicated to providing “a different kind of healing” to seriously ill children and their families throughout the Northeast, free of charge. It’s a community that celebrates the fun, friendship and spirit of childhood, where every kid can “raise a little hell.” Former camper and current camp counselor, Ester Wasserman shares the magic of camp, how it was founded, what it offers campers and her own experience through the years.
James Bumanglag may have had most of his childhood obscured by a blanket but by gum he's 27 now and he can visit any bridge that strikes his fancy. Ya hear that, MOTHER? Any bridge he fancies! James is our honorary Rude Dude for the week and together we deconstructed "The Hole-in-the-Wall Gang". What happens in this one? Well, there's a hole. DJ and Stephanie make the hole. And Michelle is forced to watch the hole. Then the hole goes away. No more hole! The end. Spoiler: James essentially loved every second of it. Question: Does Brandon actually know anything about Peter Lorre? Question: Does the top begin to fall at the end of 'Inception'? Question: Should we be like Mark Zuckerberg and Doug Funnie the hell out of our closets? ONLY YOU CAN COME TO YOUR OWN CONCLUSIONS. Don't forget about our upcoming live event! Saturday, February 27 at 7:30 PM at the Lincoln Loft, located at 3036 N. Lincoln Ave in glorious Chicago. Experienced in the trade since 1987, Newman founded YardApes, Inc. in 1990 and holds the title of president. He hails from Telluride, Colorado, but has lived in New Milford for the past 27 years. Shayne received a B.S. in Finance from UCONN, is a Landscape Industry Certified Technician, Landscape Industry Certified Manager, holds a Connecticut Supervisory Pesticide License and is a Certified Landscape Designer. He is also the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) PR committee chair, a CNLA committee member, founding member of the Connecticut LICT committee on training & testing, Community Culinary School of Northwestern CT board member, as well as Village Center for the Arts board member. Always involved in the community, Newman created and hosts the YardApes Quad-Am Golf Classic, raising $39,000 for area nonprofits since 2006. Additionally, YardApes has participated in PLANET's Day of Service since its inception, volunteering time and materials to revitalize civic venues including The Creative Playground, The Pratt Nature Center, Harrybrooke Park, Sullivan Farm, and the Brookfield Public Library, The Children's Center and the Abbey of Regina Laudis. Newman was featured on FOX News for his participation in Project EverGreen's GreenCare for Troops. In addition, the Connecticut affiliate of the American Psychological Association honored Newman with two of its five 2008 Psychologically Healthy Work Place Awards: Employee Growth and Development and Employee Recognition. He received awards alongside Pratt & Whitney and Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Gang camp. YardApes, Inc. is the recipient of 2011 Connecticut Chamber of Commerce Big Business Award and has been North Western Connecticut's leading service provider of residential and commercial landscapes for over twenty-two years. The award-winning landscape firm is a full-service design, construction, and maintenance company with 25 employees. For more information, visit YardApes at www.yardapes.org.

It's the rip-roaring, high-stakes, high-drama tall tale of the Serenity's greatest adventure ever! The crew is dogged by an Alliance operative almost as crazy as Jubal Early. I apologize to the people of Great Britain on behalf of the entire American film industry. I should apologize to Chiwetel Ejiofor for butchering his name horribly. Mal and the Hole-in-the-Boat Gang take an Alliance payroll but are set upon by reavers. Simon busts Mal a good one and gets dumped on a planet where River is driven cuckoo by a Fruity Oaty Bar commercial. Wash suggests they talk to their old friend, Mr. Universe. Yes. Mr. Universe. You remember him. Inara wants Mal to come and not fight with her. Trap! I show off my English degree my identifying "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner." Book will take his secrets to the grave. Wash doesn't have any secrets, but if he did, so would he. River is carrying a politician's secret to a lot of other people's graves. The horror of the Pax is exposed. Kaylee and Simon sort out their romantic difficulties by killing reavers. River becomes a Super Bass-o-matic. Inara might hang around. All's well that ends we— Wait... what's with the graves?
