Tropical Cyclone Alfred has changed direction and is directly heading towards the Queensland coast. A warning has been issued for Double Island Point in Queensland to Yamba in New South Wales, including Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Byron Bay, and Ballina. BOM Senior Meteorologist Dean Narramore, told Gary Hardgrave on 4BC Drive, "Cyclone warning means that we are likely to see gales develop in this area within the next 24 hours, likely tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow evening. "Gales are defined as sustained winds at 64km an hour, gusting even higher than that. So they'll first feel it on the islands through Moreton and Straddie." "Then we'll feel it on the coast, and then we'll see it move inland as we move through Wednesday night, particularly during the day Thursday and especially during Thursday night," Mr Narramore continued. She was a florist, then a flight attendant for a Chinese airline (very scary story), then a flight attendant for Virgin, then a bank teller and somewhere amongst it all she became a mother. She's been fired from or quit every job I've ever had, so I knew I had to be independent and my own boss. Great to catch up with a young jockey who's endured the lion's share of bad luck but keeps bouncing back into the winner's circle. He's riding work again following major shoulder surgery, and is champing at the bit to go to the races. Brock begins by talking of the newly arrived son who has helped him through a tough rehabilitation.  He talks of the transition into parenthood for he and partner Madison. Brock explains the surgery he recently underwent at Sydney's San Hospital. He says he did plenty of work behind the scenes before returning to trackwork at Kembla Grange. The young jockey takes us back to early days at Yamba when surfing was his primary sporting interest. He joined the workforce at a local caravan park. Brock has never forgotten the first time he watched horse racing on television. He was instantly besotted and took immediate action. He says he couldn't wait to become an apprentice. He started at Kembla Grange. Brock remembers the retired racehorse who taught him the basics. He parted company with the mare more than once. He recalls with some amusement his first official barrier trial. Ryan looks back on his first serious accident. Like most of the others he had no control. He looks back on his first race ride at the Sapphire Coast and his first win at Adaminaby. Brock talks of the day he won on the budding stakes horse Jungle Edge. He speaks with affection of the wonderful support he received from the late Gwenda Markwell. The talented rider talks of a freak mishap on Wellington Boot day 2017. It happened past the winning post but left him with a serious injury. He talks of the anguish he suffered from a medical condition unrelated to racehorses. Brock looks back on a short stint at Randwick with the John O'Shea stable and a run-in with the law which left him without a driver's licence.  The jockey reflects on his decision to turn his back completely on racing, and a return to Yamba. He says it wasn't long before he was missing racing. He talks of his association with father and son training team Rob and Luke Price. Rob has been his valued tutor. Brock looks back on an early association with the Team Hawkes stable who put him on a couple of very talented horses. He looks back on his association with brilliant filly Jamaea. He was preparing for his first ride in a Golden Slipper when lady luck deserted him again. Brock has indelible memories of the day he rode four winners at a Rosehill Saturday metropolitan meeting. The jockey talks of the highs and lows of his association with the ill fated galloper Count de Rupee. A close second in the Golden Eagle and a win in The Gong took him to racing's biggest stage. Brock talks of the support he was getting from a wide range of stables before his shoulder surgery. A nice chat with a very likable young man.

Put the lid on and process. Once it looks like everything is broken up a little, begin to stream in the olive oil. When it starts to thicken, add the soy sauce, lemon juice and Worcestershire, then the remaining olive oil. Finish with the cream and a bit of water to loosen it to a thick but drizzly consistency. Add a few cracks of fresh black pepper and check and adjust the seasoning. Refrigerate until ready to use.·2.To make the salad, heat the olive oil in a small sauté pan over a high heat and add the dry capers. Ensure they are as dry as you can make them to avoid too much splatter. Allow the capers to sizzle a little and, when they have almost finished sizzling (meaning most of the water has evaporated), scoop them out and dry them on a piece of paper towel. Reserve the oil.·3.Tear bread into rough pieces and add to the pan. Use the caper oil and some more olive oil, if needed, to shallow-fry croutons over medium heat. You want to fry the bread on a couple of sides, but you don't want it to be completely crispy. You want a bit of soft chew with a crusty exterior. Try to do this in one layer so that you don't overcrowd the pan. This might mean you need to do it in a couple of batches. Season croutons with salt and pepper.·4.Spread the tonnato on the plate first, then cut up the tomatoes into thick slices and arrange on top. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper. Scatter the croutons over the top. Finish with fried capers and fresh picked basil leaves. Serve immediately.

Me duele mucho. This conversation talks about the power of the human mind to overcome physical adversity and the evolution of our relationship with our parents, children, partners & most importantly self. Hayley and I discuss the threat of personal safety for female runners, something that was triggered for her as she ran early and in the dark throughout the Calendar Club (a 750km running challenge through the month of April). Having trained in karate since the age of 3, she shares her knowledge in how to hone your awareness in order to mitigate potential and real risks. Hayley explains her propensity to being a sponge of knowledge in order to venture into unfamiliar arenas and how she has created lasting change to her local community by having conviction and starting now. Hayley grew up in Yamba, a small coastal town in northern New South Wales - at the mouth of the Clarence River. In a journey to discover herself (not as a mother, a daughter or a wife) she embarked on an adventure to become the first person to solo kayak the 400km length of the Clarence River, the largest river system on the east coast of Australia. Her two year journey to that start line required her to learn bush, survival, navigation and skills in hunting, trapping, foraging and using plants for medicinal purposes. She had never kayaked before beginning this journey. She is a mother of two beautiful boys, a Director for a co-working space called Blanc Space and the National Operations manager for James Baroud. She is a writer, poet, ambassador, passionate about the environment and making real & sustained change. You can follow Hayley's journey on socials via @hayleytalbot & www.hayleytalbot.com.
