Star Wars: In a Galaxy – Watching all the Star Wars we can get our hands on.
In the first episode of Season 17 of Star Wars: In a Galaxy, Eli, Jacob, and special guest Isabella discuss the first two episodes of Young Jedi Adventures, "The Young Jedi"/"Yoda's Mission" and "Nash's Race Day"/"The Lost Jedi Ship". Among their discussion: – THE HIGH REPUBLIC! FOR LIGHT AND LIFE! – Piotr Michael's Yoda. – Everyone feels bad for Zia. – Taborr, Taborr, Taborr (IYKYK, don't tell Jacob, though, as we don't want to spoil it). – Nash has two moms, and it is not treated as a special or different moment. LGBTQ+ representation! – Eli gets waaaaaaaay too into the ethics of using the Force to win a race. – 0G-LC and how Young Jedi Adventures took what we think would have been a PG story and made it for kids. – Mad props to Jamaal Avery Jr., Emma Berman, and Juliet Donenfield as Kai Brighstar, Nash Durango, and Lys Solay respectively The next episode of Star Wars: In a Galaxy will release on April 5, 2024. The young Jedi save their friend.
Our resident host Grace Sanders caught up with US voice actress EMMA BERMAN to discuss her journey with Disney and Pixar's LUCA, and new role in Star Wards series Young Jedi Adventures! Set 200 years before “The Phantom Menace,” during the High Republic era, the animated series follows Jedi younglings as they study the ways of the Force, explore the galaxy, help citizens and creatures in need and learn valuable skills needed to become Jedi along the way. Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures releases May 4, 2023 on Disney+ and Disney Junior (where available). She is also currently voicing Ginny on the Disney Jr. Series Superkitties! Fans may recognize Emma's unique and adorable voice from the Disney and Pixar's feature film “Luca.” Emma lent her voice to one of the leads ‘Giulia,' the friend of ‘Luca,' voiced by Jacob Tremblay, and ‘Alberto,' voiced by Jack Dylan Grazer. Set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera, “Luca” is a coming-of-age story about one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides. Luca shares these adventures with his newfound best friend, but all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: they are sea monsters from another world just below the water's surface. MORE ABOUT EMMA Currently residing in San Francisco, the seventh grader is active in the professional theater scene in the Bay Area. Most recently, she has played ‘Baby June' in Bay Area Musicals' production of “Gypsy” and received rave reviews for her performance including one critic saying, “Berman shows the benefit of wide experience for such a young actress, and might well be described as a prodigy” and another stating “Emma Berman as the crackerjack younger June who might even steal this show.” She also played ‘Ivanka' in 42nd Street Moon's production of “Once,” which won Best Musical of the Year by Bay Area Theater Awards and was part of the American Conservatory Theater's production of “A Christmas Carol” for two years. As a young performer dedicated to her craft, Emma studies on an ongoing basis with acting coach Melinda Darlington Bach and dialects coach Bettina Devin on her British and Italian accents, but the actress also speaks fluent Russian as she grew up in a bilingual household. Additionally, Emma has trained in New York with A Class Act and Broadway Artists Alliance. Outside of acting, Emma continues to live a fast-paced life, always keeping busy. She loves to draw, bake and race go karts with her older brother and has been a regular at Sonoma Raceway last few years. In college, Emma wants to study to become a storyboard artist and director and hopes to one day work at Pixar. She is also a huge fan of the app Calm and would love to read books on tape for them like two of her favorite actors, Mandy Moore and Kate Winslet.
Lightsabers and Force aside, parents can share this age-appropriate Star Wars show alongside their own younglings. Read the Plugged In Review If you've listened to any of our podcasts, please give us your feedback.

Even though two new episodes of Bad Batch have released, the DetBlock Crew figured it would be better to wait one more week until they'd bring you their reviews. Plus, with only one of them being caught up with watching them, they didn't want to spoil anything for the Crew. With that, Greg and Mike look to bring some awesome stuff revolving around a new show that will premiere on Disney+ on May 4th. Not season 2 of Visions... A new show targeted towards Preschoolers called Star Wars; Young Jedi Academy. On top of that, the two of them dive into some JUICY news... scratch that... JUICY RUMORS about some of the high-ups within Lucasfilm. It should be noted, this information is pure RUMOR. However, it was an interesting topic to talk about and, as the expression goes, "where there is smoke, there is fire."Finally, before going off tangent to talk a little Super Bowl and football, the DetBlock Crew introduce the next bracket challenge they look to bring to their listeners. This challenge revolves around Star Wars video games and looks to find what their fans consider the best Star Wars video game of all time! One final shout out, if you haven't checked them out yet, give Records of the Republic a listen. You find yourself cornered in an ancient castle that used to be your school as dark forces close in. Or maybe you find yourself being batted by gusts of wind as the shadow of an enormous red dragon appears overhead. Or wait, how about this? You are just trying to get rid of all of the artichokes. What's the best way to deal with any of this? Draw a few cards and hope for the best. Our gaming focused episodes continue in November. After last month's epic clash in Fury of Dracula, the Storytelling Breakdown team is discussing deck building card games. Caleb and Ben played the game Young Jedi all the way back in our first season. How can the narratives of familiar intellectual properties, like Star Wars or Harry Potter, come to life at the game table? What are some good deck builders for families and players young and more experienced? How do you find your footing in a deep well of something like Magic: The Gathering when you are just starting to learn to play the game? Join Ben, Caleb, Larissa, and Stephen to find out. The life and legacy of legendary Batman voice Kevin Conroy is the subject of this episode's Spotlight. Caleb and Ben's conversation starts around the 00:53:24 mark.
