Her life is a whirlwind of late-night epiphanies, busting mental health myths, and finding joy in the chaos of navigating autism, ADHD, and parenting kids who keep her on her toes. She has always felt like she was dancing to her own beat—but nobody gave her the playlist. It wasn't until adulthood that she discovered she was neurodivergent, and suddenly, her quirks and challenges made sense. That “ah-ha” moment didn't just change her life—it gave her a mission to help others embrace their differences and thrive. Now, she combines humor, personal stories, and practical advice to tackle big topics like:- Why neurodivergent brains are the secret weapon every workplace needs.- How to turn “chaotic energy” into a leadership superpower.- And why mental health isn't all doom and gloom. When she's not counseling clients or speaking on neurodiversity and DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging), you'll find her debating the merits of pineapple on pizza, perfecting her meme game, or plotting her next adventure with her husband Dr. Kristen WilliamsonWebsite - https://www.empowermindsolutionsllc.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61573292573273#Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/empowermindsolutionsllc/?enLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/drkristenwilliamson/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@empowerminds.solu?_t=ZT-8uIRNSOAKvW&_r=1OTR sites:Podcast Website: https://bobadleman.wixsite.com/otrmentalhealthMail: OvertheRainbowbob@gmail.com

Dr. Fredric Schiffer is a sought-after public speaker, best-selling author, psychiatrist and part-time assistant professor at Harvard.Dr. Schiffer has a wealth of experience in psychiatry. He has been studying the relationship between past traumas, cerebral laterality, depression and anxiety. He has tremendous knowledge of Dual-Brain Psychology techniques.Through his groundbreaking work as founder of the Dual-Brain Psychology Institute, he discovered that the brain is made up of two minds which are competing for dominance. When the immature and troubled half of the brain is treated, Dual-Brain Psychology techniques can successfully curb anxiety, depression, PTSD, and addiction, and improve psychological wellbeing. The doctor believes that many mental issues originate from early traumas and very often it's trauma that has not been recognized. Dr. Schiffer has discovered a technique to treat the troubled mind using something as unlikely as a piece of junk mail. Also, I believe ADHD is just a different type of brain that has it's advantages like hyperfocus and thinking out of the box. It is only a disorder from the viewpoint of the neurotypical. Anneke also thinks she has some Autistic symptoms.Find out how Anneke helps herself with her lack of focus and concentration. This episode we talk to Doctor Cristina Castagnini who fully recovered from an eating disorder and now gives personal and professional perspectives about struggles with food, weight, and body image. She has 25 years of clinical experience as a licensed psychologist and certified eating disorder specialist. This is a mental health issue that doesn't get talked about enough. You hear about women and men, especially teens, who suffer in silence. Some do not get any treatment at all, until its too late. Not eating or binge eating are serous conditions. They could well lead to organ damage or death.Social media targets our children with messages that they are not good enough. Society also pressures people, especially teenagers, to fit into a certain body type. This could lead to the development of an eating disorder. We agree that most people who diet gain back the weight and they yoyo back and forth. However, I think in general, people should eat healthy . I believe, especially certain people, like over fifty-five and people with depression are much better off eating healthy food and maintaining a healthy body fat. We both agree that dieting is too popular in this country and this attitude may lead people to be too restrictive with food that may be considered unhealthy. Not getting enough food can be as damaging as being on a strict crash diet were we may not get the nutrients we need.I think yoyo dieting may be considered worse for you than if you didn't diet at all. Again, we didn't quite agree on dieting. By no means does this show want to tell people whether to diet. That, I think, comes down to a person-to-person basis. The show offers more input to make a good decision in your life. But we all agree that this is a huge problem, and I am glad to get another perspective. Please enjoy.Listener Notes:Don't forget to check out part 1 of the Real series highlighting the best of 5 years at OTR. Coming soon is the Premium package of OTR with all the scripts of the programs starting with the Real series. Also, you can make a request for up to 5 of the older shows. I just wanted to highlight these first episodes, since many people might have missed them way back when and except for the sound are some of the best of OTR (over the rainbow).I have some great Guests for season 10 which will begin in January and will be our greatest season. In this episode, Krystal Clark shares her story of her molestation at the age of seven from her cousin who was even younger. This abuse and the shame she felt triggered her Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) later in life.Krystal Clark is now doing well in her recovery. She is an Author, Blogger, Life Coach, Public Speaker, and Data Management Professional. Krystal has published several books including a Fantasy Fiction book called “Balance Of Power” which chronicles the mental toll trauma can take. Krystal also has a podcast called ‘Moving with Meaning-The Podcast' in which she talks about many topics. This is an important episode about the effects of this type of trauma, especially at such a young age. It is my opinion that this type of abuse is rampant in the U.S. and around the world. In a lot of cases these acts cause great mental anguish throughout the victim's life. I feel in most cases it goes unreported because of the shame victims feel. If we work together this world would be a much better place to live in. Since this month is Mental Health month, now is the time to fight for our and our children's contentment and happiness. This world is what we make it. Suffering is a part of life, like losing. You have to grow from it. We do not need to add to it by hiding in shame and fearing judgement from others. Society gives you permission to drink or take harmful drugs that only cover up the pain for a short time. The damage mental health issues do to our society is everywhere. Life gave no freebies to Kristof. Growing up, his parents viciously abused him daily. In the Navy, at the age of 18, he showed symptoms of an affliction he would discover years later was a rare type of Tourette Syndrome (TS), a condition of the nervous system. TS causes people to have “tics”. Tics are sudden twitches, movements, or sounds that people make repeatedly. This is his story of courage as he struggles with the negative emotional and social affects that Tourette's can have on anyone. Growing up, he was the third born but the first to graduate high school,He taught himself to write while serving in the US Navy as a Corpsman, right after high school. After the navy, Kristof became an EMT around the age of 23, then a 911 dispatcher at 26 before earning, by audition, a job at a newspaper. He was 27 years old and won awards from two Texas Press Associations for feature writing and photography.I think neurodivergent people can relate to Kristof's struggles. In this episode we talk with a special guest. Her name is Phyllis E. Leavitt, and she is a psychotherapist with over 30 years of working extensively with individual and family dysfunction and abuse. We talk about what's in her new book called “America in Therapy: A New Approach to Hope and Healing For A Nation In Crisis”, in which she talks about the urgency to bring our whole country to therapy in a way never written about before. Which is critically important if we want to make this world a better place for real. Especially In the times we live in. If we have any hope, then it has to start at home. This subject is so important to me because it's the message I want to bring out in this podcast, especially when so many people are suffering with their mental health or the loss of a loved one this holiday season. America and the world need to heel If we are to continue to be a civilized culture. The divisional and tribal stubbornness and network Propaganda and manipulation of the people has divided this country and families. We need to listen to each other, not hate. From Phyllis' years of experience as a client herself, and well over 30 years experience as a psychotherapist she has a calling to share all she has learned with the public and demonstrate how the principles of the best psychotherapy can be used to help heal our country of escalating hatred, divisiveness and violence. She speaks to all of us who fear for our children and all future generations, who may feel hopeless or resigned or simply don't know what to do to help create a more loving and sustainable world. She brings a message of both urgency and hope, in language the layman can easily relate to and understand, through personal stories, client case studies, and professional expertise. Her basic premise is that we are on a collision course with our own extinction and she see this as a national and global mental health crisis that is not being addressed. She explores the direct correlation between the most destructive family dynamics on the individual level and many of the behaviors and actions of some of our most powerful institutions and leaders, and she highlight that millions of us are suffering the effects of national psychological dysfunction in ways we might not be aware of. She helps the listener understand that many answers of how to heal our human relations and restore us to peace and safety are already known and used effectively in the field of psychotherapy, and that there is HOPE if we can take everything we know about healing into national conversation. The best psychotherapy helps interrupt the cycle of violence— which is our best hope of prevention— and it involves a total reversal of many of the beliefs and dynamics that now run our country.Phyllis' sites:Official Webpage: https://phyllisleavitt.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/phyllis.leavittInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/phyllis_e_leavitt/Twitter: https://twitter.com/PhyllisLeavittLinkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/phyllis-leavitt-630179255/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOdxqvDK9N421AZ5TTxqUgQ OTR sites:Podcast...

I believe that living truthfully with yourself and WITH others can help your mental health immensely. How the US is so polarized politically as the news shows spout propaganda, a lie. How people may lie to themselves. I was originally hoping to get this out for Independence Day as a solo show, I did many different VERSIONS, but they all came out preachy and monotone. Then I thought of John Lee from the shows “What is the Meaning of Life? Why are we here?” back in December 2021 and “What is Consciousness?” last March 2022. This episode is one of my favorite interviews. I talk to an amazing woman named Nicole Kerr. She wrote the book about her near-death experience (NDE) called “You Are Deathless: A Near-Death Experience Taught Me How to Fully Live and Not Fear Death”. Even if you don't belief in life after death, the spiritual message expressed in this episode is powerful. The show runs a little long, but the time goes fast, and I couldn't find anything I wanted to cut out. It's a must listen to episode.Nicole Kerr was a 19-year-old air force cadet in 1983 who took a ride home with a man she met at a party off base. He had a Corvette convertible, and he was drunk - 2x over the limit . Nicole had both feet up on the dash when they hit. She went flying through the windshield, badly cutting her legs and hitting the ground hard. However, Nicole could not remember the accident until the memory suddenly came back to her all at once 19 years later. The event inspired her to write a book about her NDE.Also, we talk about her troubles with her parents, especially with her ex-marine dad who she still does not get along with. She wants to spread the word that death is not the end and that we should each not fear death and to start or continue our spiritual journey through our life on earth.Being a scientist myself, it's hard for me to belief, but even so, the message of love and hope is inspirational. Today we talk with Ann Hince who wrote the book Pathway to insight. Ann talks about the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)or tapping and how it battles the beast inside at the Final layer. But this comes with the following warning. It is critical to comprehend the complexities of the approach; therefore, it is prudent to seek the assistance of a skilled therapist. It's also worth noting that issues that have been unresolved for a long period take longer to settle than other concerns. The interview took place maybe a year ago , the reason I waited so long is because I tried it myself and it caused overwhelming feelings and I had to back off. It Appears to work well for those with PTSD alone. Others with more chemically basedepression should wait until there stable and then seek the aid of a therapist or psychiatrist. Also, It's likely that tapping may become a compulsive behaviour if you have obsessive-compulsive disorder. it's important to realize that the Emotional Freedom Technique is not a miracle technique. This, like any other therapeutic treatment, is likely to take some time before any noticeable results may be seen. The state of the condition will progressively improve. That being said, I believe that this method shows promise for people who suffer from PTSD and perhaps will help anyone who is ready to face the beast at the final layer and be on the pathway to peace.Ann Hince's sites:Book: https://www.amazon.com/Pathway Website: https://annhince.comFacebook : https://www.facebook.com/AnnHinceWisdom YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTc4hb7ZKvih1LlRHK0cUjgOTR Links:Mail OvertheRainbowbob@gmail.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/otrachievingmentalhealhfrInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/over_the_rainbow_achieving Twitter: https://twitter.com/overtherain1bownYouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChEYTddPDUaiZbFliit1r5QOfficial home page: https://bobadleman.wixsite.com/otrmentalhealthCaptivate site: https://otr-achieving-mental.cThis podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Podder - https://www.podderapp.com/privacy-policyChartable - https://chartable.com/privacyPodtrac - https://analytics.podtrac.com/privacy-policy-gdrp
