Emotional Stability Starts at Home: Spending quality time and being present with family helps regulate emotions. This stability carries over into better, more mature financial choices. Volatility Can Be an Advantage: Market ups and downs don't have to be scary. When understood and respected, volatility can open the door to long-term wealth. Amy Vincze struggled with PTSD from childhood trauma in her family growing up. Her father was an alcoholic who left home when she was just four. This led to her PTSD later in life as she felt her father's abandonment must be because there was something wrong with her. This led to anxiety, and depression and she believes led to her cancer at just 31.Amy was always fascinated by the complexities of human behavior and driven to uncover the motivations behind people's actions. This led her to navigate her own struggles. She finally came across Tapping—a transformative tool that not only helped her manage her symptoms but also allowed her to address and release the root causes of her suffering. Through tapping, she unlocked a profound secret: true healing isn't about masking symptoms; it's about resolving the patterns that create them.Amy goes over in detail how to use this technique which can make a major difference to someone with PTSD or other mental health conditions.Just a friendly warning, It may be safer to try this with a councilor since stirring up painful events may become an issue if practiced alone.Bloopers can now be accessed anonymously though the podcast's Website https://bobadleman.wixsite.com/otrmentalhealth . I've applied that to the problems I see in the world that I feel need solving.Anxiety is one of the biggest mental health challenges of our time, affecting millions of people worldwide. Yet, despite the availability of treatments, many individuals hesitate to seek help due to stigma, cost, or lack of accessibility. Raj Amin, CEO and Co-Founder of Arcade Therapeutics, is tackling this problem by harnessing the power of gaming to provide evidence-based anxiety relief."One of the biggest challenges to engaging people is really the format of that engagement," Raj explained. "It's a big obstacle to get people into therapy. A lot of people haven't tried therapy. There's a lot of stigma associated with it. So we've got to figure out ways to give them an on-ramp to begin self-care. And that's really where gaming comes in."Arcade Therapeutics has developed a mobile game that integrates a psychological technique proven to reduce anxiety symptoms. Rather than requiring users to commit to therapy or medication right away, this game offers a more accessible and engaging way to start managing anxiety. "Two-thirds of Americans play games," Raj noted. "What if you could actually embed a psychological technique into the game that is proven to reduce anxiety symptoms? That's what we've done at Arcade."The company's business model relies on scientific validation, with research-backed methods that have undergone clinical trials funded in part by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This has positioned Arcade Therapeutics to be recognized as a digital therapeutic—a form of software-as-medicine. As a result, its products can be prescribed by doctors and reimbursed by insurance providers. With the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) rolling out new billing codes for digital mental health treatments starting in 2025, the company is poised for rapid growth.Arcade Therapeutics is currently raising capital through a regulated investment crowdfunding campaign on WeFunder, allowing everyday investors to support this innovative approach to mental health care. "We need to democratize the way that early-stage companies get built," Raj said. "Crowdfunding allows us to set the stage for a future where companies can be supported by the people who believe in them, including therapists and doctors who see the value in what we're building."Investors and mental health advocates interested in learning more can visit s4g.biz/AT to support Arcade Therapeutics' mission. By blending science with gaming, Raj and his team are making mental health support more engaging, accessible, and effective.tl;dr:* Raj Amin, CEO of Arcade Therapeutics, explains how gaming can be leveraged to treat anxiety.* Arcade Therapeutics' mobile game integrates a psychological technique clinically proven to reduce anxiety.* The company's business model relies on digital therapeutics, enabling insurance reimbursement for mental health treatments.* Raj discusses his superpower, creative problem-solving, and how it has shaped his career.* He shares actionable tips on fostering creativity, including context-switching and learning from diverse fields. How to Develop Creative Problem Solving As a SuperpowerRaj Amin's superpower is creative problem-solving. Throughout his career, Raj has applied his ability to connect different ideas and industries to create impactful solutions. "I would say that I have a creative side in how I think about new businesses," he shared in today's episode. "And I think I've applied that to the problems that I see in the world that I feel need solving."An illustrative example of Raj's superpower is his work with Arcade Therapeutics. Recognizing the stigma and barriers to mental health treatment, he saw an opportunity to use gaming—something millions of people engage with daily—as a platform for delivering anxiety-reducing therapies. "Gaming is something that people are already doing and it's engaging, but we can now apply that in a way that helps bring down stigma and improve access to earlier treatments for mental health," he explained. To develop creative problem-solving as a personal strength, Raj suggests:* Engage in context switching – "I might grab a guitar, play a song for 10 minutes, and then shift to a business challenge. The intersections between different activities often lead to new ideas."* Expose yourself to diverse fields – "Dive into new subjects. For instance, I explored AI and then thought about how it could be applied to mental health."* Solve problems you personally experience – "I created a mini AI-driven coach for myself to see how technology could be leveraged for mental wellness."By following Raj Amin's example and advice, you can make creative problem-solving a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. Fear. It's a pervasive issue for many. However, on this week's Unbeatable Mind podcast, host Mark Divine takes a deep dive into the impact fear has on people's lives and how it is propagated in our culture. Mark breaks down common acronyms such as F.E.A.R (False Expectations Appearing Real), and discusses strategies for managing realistic fears as well as fears rooted in childhood trauma and primordial anxieties. Mark traverses his way through a myriad of daily practices that can help mitigate fear and discusses the difference between rational and irrational fears so listeners can identify the two, and avoid being debilitated by either. Key Takeaways: Rational vs. Irrational Fears: Identify the differences between irrational fears (like the fear of how others perceive you), vs. rational fears (like fears based on current events), and learn how to avoid becoming debilitated by either. Deep Rooted Fears: Recognize the necessity for emotional work in dealing with fears rooted in childhood trauma. Chapter 1 What's Rewire Your Anxious Brain by Catherine M. Pittman"Rewire Your Anxious Brain" by Catherine M. Pittman and Elizabeth Karle is a comprehensive guide that combines neuroscience and psychology to help individuals understand and manage anxiety. The book explores the brain's role in anxiety, describing how the amygdala, which governs emotions, and the cortex, which processes thoughts, influence anxiety responses. Through practical strategies, the authors emphasize the importance of mindfulness, cognitive restructuring, and exposure therapy to rewire the brain's anxious pathways. They provide exercises and techniques to help readers identify their anxiety triggers, challenge negative thought patterns, and develop healthier coping mechanisms. This book aims to empower readers to take control of their anxiety and transform their mental habits.Chapter 2 Rewire Your Anxious Brain by Catherine M. Pittman Summary"Rewire Your Anxious Brain" by Catherine M. Pittman offers a comprehensive approach to understanding and managing anxiety through a blend of neuroscience and psychological techniques. The book emphasizes that anxiety is primarily a brain-based response that can be reprogrammed through various methods. Here's a summary of the key concepts: Structure of the Brain and AnxietyAmygdala: The amygdala plays a crucial role in processing fear and anxiety. It triggers fight-or-flight responses when it perceives a threat, often leading to exaggerated reactions to stress.Prefrontal Cortex: This area of the brain is responsible for rational thought and decision-making. It can help regulate responses initiated by the amygdala but often struggles if anxiety levels are high.Hippocampus: Responsible for memory formation, the hippocampus helps differentiate between past experiences and current threats, impacting how we perceive and respond to anxiety. Understanding AnxietyThe book highlights that anxiety can stem from both genetic and environmental factors. Understanding individual triggers, whether they be social situations, specific phobias, or general feelings of unease, can help in managing anxiety effectively.Neuroplasticity: Pittman discusses the concept of neuroplasticity, which is the brain's ability to change and adapt. This means it is possible to 'rewire' the brain's responses to anxiety through intentional practices. Techniques for Rewiring Your BrainMindfulness and Relaxation: Practicing mindfulness helps to bring awareness to the present moment, reducing anxiety by focusing on the now rather than ruminating about past or future worries.Cognitive Behavioral Techniques: These strategies help challenge negative thought patterns and replace them with more constructive ones. Recognizing cognitive distortions contributes to a healthier mindset.Exposure Therapy: Gradually exposing oneself to fears in a controlled manner can help desensitize and reduce anxiety over time. This method works by changing the way the brain responds to perceived threats in the environment.Building Resilience: The book emphasizes the importance of developing coping strategies and resilience to better handle stress and anxiety when it arises.Exercise and Lifestyle Changes: Physical activity is shown to have a positive effect on mental health. Incorporating regular exercise and maintaining a healthy lifestyle can help lower anxiety levels. Conclusion"Rewire Your Anxious Brain" provides valuable insights into the neurological reasons behind anxiety and offers practical tools to help readers manage their symptoms. By utilizing techniques based on scientific research, individuals can learn to navigate anxiety more effectively and create healthier mental pathways.Chapter 3 Rewire Your Anxious Brain AuthorCatherine M. Pittman is a clinical psychologist and an expert in the field of anxiety and...

Let's be honest with each other first thing today: we like to be in control. We like to have control. We like to have things under control. We are kinda control freaks. I want to talk about something *really* subtle re: control today so that we don't wind up thinking we have control where we do NOT have control and then find ourselves in a trap of trying to exert control over the outside world thinking, "wait, I've done this before and it worked" when it most decidedly did NOT and does NOT work. When things go according to plan, it doesn't have that much to do with us. When things fall apart, it doesn't have that much to do with us. Control is an inside job...the things we have the MOST control over are our thoughts, our feelings, and our words + actions. It sometimes LOOKS like we have control where we don't. In this episode of the "Let's Talk Brain Health" podcast, Dr. Ian Robertson, Ph.D., a renowned clinical psychologist and brain health expert, delves into the intricacies of the human mind and its capacity for resilience and adaptation. With over four decades of experience in neuropsychology and brain rehabilitation, Dr. Robertson shares his insights on how attention systems in the brain can be harnessed for emotional and cognitive control. Dr. Robertson emphasizes the often-underestimated power individuals have over their brains. He explains that managing attention is crucial for gaining control over emotions and health. His work at the Global Brain Health Institute and Trinity College Dublin has significantly influenced both academia and public understanding of brain health. The conversation shifts to stress, defined as the perception of environmental demands exceeding one's coping abilities, leading to anxiety. Dr. Robertson highlights the double-edged nature of human evolution: while our advanced brains enable future planning and goal-setting, they also predispose us to chronic anxiety. This anxiety, if sustained, can have detrimental effects on our bodies, emotions, thinking, and behavior. He stresses the importance of action in combating anxiety, citing the transformative power of taking even small steps. Dr. Robertson also discusses the Brain Health Project at the University of Texas, Dallas. This ambitious project aims to improve brain health across the lifespan through interventions and annual assessments of participants. The project challenges the static view of brain abilities, encouraging improvement in various cognitive and emotional aspects. In closing, Dr. Robertson advises listeners not to be overwhelmed by stress or anxiety. By understanding and acknowledging these feelings, individuals can find confidence in action despite anxiety, ultimately gaining control over their brain health. This week's episode of The Transforming Anxiety is literally straight from my heart to yours. We're talking about preemptive quitting this week. Why? Because this is the sit-down-pay-attention-clear-the-decks talk I had to have with myself recently. Preemptive quitting is when you quit ahead of time. You quit as a backwards way of protecting yourself from rejection, disappointment, or failure. You say NO so that no one can say no to YOU. And hey, it kinda works. I just suspect there's probably a better way to go about our lives and thought we should talk about it. I know I need this. And I'm offering my personal work to you this week because I suspect I've got some company out there. Join me for this week's conversation...
