TARRIONA "TANK" BALL, founder/frontperson/visionary of NOLA-based, GRAMMY-winning TANK AND THE BANGAS joins B.Getz for a special broadcast aboard Jam Cruise 21! Episode 087 was recorded around 12noon on Day 5, and Tank brought an insightful, jovial, reflective perspective to the table for a coloful conversation. On the hees of a pair of dynamite performances as part of their second sailing on The Boat, having first joined this floating circus a precious few weeks before the pandemic in Jan.2020, Tank talks about her JC experiences onstage and off, past and present. She also revisits her 2024 Grammy triumph, winning Best Spoken Word Poetry Album for their 3-part masterpiece The Heart, The Mind, and The Soul. Other topics include Tank's hometown of New Orleans; embryonic beginnings with SLAM Poetry; longtime friend and collaborator Norah Jones, what makes a BANGA? co-producers Iman Omari, James Poyser, Robert Glasper; the impact of their shapeshifting 2017 NPR Tiny Desk Concert, resulting in Trey Anastasio stanning her band very publicly; getting the 2025 NOLA Jazz Fest poster, and more! Episode 087 also features an illuminating dialogue with SCOTT T. about his latest foray into a new frontier with the bold, ambitious, and groundbreaking poetry/music/visual art multimedia project TYPE RIDER. Four years later, they had a viral breakthrough as the winners of the NPR Tiny Desk Contest — an eclectic performance that has since been praised by musicians like Miguel and Anthony Hamilton and has now amassed over 14 million views on YouTube. Now, Tank and the Bangas arrive with a new 3-part album The Heart, The Mind, and The Soul. Get your phones out, Mainly Mobile is back with a brand new episode. Now that I have an iOS device, I am excited to be able to balance out the podcast to cover both Android and iOS games and apps! Hurray! I have completed FRAMED (iOS only), and it is a great-looking and clever game from 2014 by Loveshack Entertainment, located in Australia. The comic-book visuals and control with a noir feel was a unique combination that made it stand out and pull me in. Also from Australia, Halfbrick Studios created a game in 2010 called Fruit Ninja for multiple platforms, including both iOS and Android, and I finally understand the mass appeal of the game. Hitman GO is a cool take on the Hitman series for Android and iOS by Ubisoft Montréal released in 2014. They take the assassin and put him on a diorama that looks like a board game, where you solve puzzles in a turn-based fashion. Type:Rider is a game from France released in 2013 from a confusing studio/producer combination that hopefully someone can figure out. The game is a work of art that teaches you the history of written language. For the PC crowd, I recommend checking out Mini Metro by New Zealand company Dinosaur Polo Club. The game is about building simple transit systems in various cities with a simple drag-and-drop control scheme. Jstebz has been playing a lot of Skyward by Ketchapp which is has a nice Monument Valley look to it, Linken which is a connect-the-dots puzzle game made by LevelInd, and Bamba, a game in which you must keep your little Frenchman upon his hipster unicycle, developed by Simon Ducroquet. We also checked out Heads Up! A trivia game app made by Ellen Degeneres herself. Who knew she was a secret game dev. Jstebz is on the lookout for more trivia or party games that can be played on one or more devices (Android AND iOS) for game nights with a group of people. Let us know if you have any suggestions!Follow Mainly Mobile on Twitter and Instagram and let us know what you're playing on your phone or tablet.

Mixer is taking a vacation, but it probably wasn’t the best idea to let ET and Type Rider unsupervised. When a bounty hunting job comes through, the pair decides to take it. Can they rescue a Manatee prince being held at Area 51?
Boleslaw has fallen in love. Unfortunately, it’s with Curiosity, the Mars rover. ET and Type Rider decide to take the young Roomba under their wing and help her out with her first date.

Type Rider and ET continue telling the story of acquiring the TechnoPod Studios. ET reminisces about tentacle love and his spirit animal, Oliver the otter. Type Rider has a rough time trying to play a Wing Knight concert without ET.
The show starts off with Ryan Klassen’s big announcement. ET and Type Rider follow up by reading some listener mail and answering questions. One question sparks their interest and they launch into stories of their days as the legendary rock band, Wing Knight.
ET is at work on the cloning machine again. This time he’s making derivative versions of himself and they’re really getting on Type Rider’s nerves.
When the crew realizes that Type Rider isn’t sulking in his room, they must spring into action. What insufferable person would cut up Type Rider’s collectible magazines to make a ransom note? And why are they insisting that their Dungeons and Dragons character be resurrected? Find out on this weeks TechnoPod Show!
This episode, Type Rider isn’t feeling so well. And why is everything in the studio inside plastic containers? And come to think of it, why does Type Rider have so much extra body hair all of a sudden? Listen in for answers to all these questions and more!
ET and Type Rider have amped up their security on the TechnoPod. What they didn’t see coming was an electromagnetic overload of all power systems, resulting in space station wide power lose. With no robots or weapons, is there any way that the crew can fend off a Space Pirate invasion?
When ET realizes that an expected delivery has gone missing he postpones the show to go looking for it. Type Rider and ET wander the hauls of the TechnoPod finding clues. Who would steal a package? Could it be that former SPS employee, Kevin Jones, has gone rouge?
The crew decides to play it safe this week by taking a break from the show. They settle in for a friendly game of Dungeons and Dragons with a few friends. Old friends Jeremiah and Manny have brought along their pal, Boggy. Will he fit in with ET and Type Rider?
Deep in the heart of the TechnoPod Studios, in the mysterious Sector 14, ET wanders into a long forgotten room containing a cloning machine. Now the ship is overrun with ETs and Type Rider isn’t taking it too well.
“There's a sort of romance in riding a bicycle across the country. It's something that some people would fantasize about, and when they saw me ride into their town, it brought them back to their own dreams, their own wishes about what they wanted to fill their life with." Maya Stein is a poet, a teacher, a photographer, and more. We sat down in her restored trailer, M.A.U.D.E. (Mobile Art Unit Designed for Everyone), to talk about her life as an artist, how she built an audience for her work over the years, how she got the idea to ride a bicycle (towing a typewriter, folding table and folding chair) from Massachusetts to Wisconsin, and how she got that Type Rider journey funded on Kickstarter. “I think about 'making a living' as 'making a life'. I don't think about money being the driving force behind the decisions I make as a writer or artist." We also talk about writing prompts, her new initiative to build Little Free Libraries via Type Rider II, and her epiphany in Elkhart, Indiana. And you get to hear my theory on how the internet makes us all normal (except for the crazy people)! Give it a listen! About our Guest Maya Stein is a Ninja poet, writing guide, and creative adventuress. Among her latest escapades are a 1,200-mile bicycle journey with a typewriter, a cross-country poetry trip, a French crepe stand at a Massachusetts farmers market, a relocation from San Francisco to suburban New Jersey and most recently, a collaboration — Food for the Soul Train — turning a vintage trailer into a mobile creative workshop space. (She also ran a catering business for six years and specialized in hors d'oeuvres and the finer points of napkin folding.) Her favorite body part is her left hand, as it has gifted her with the ability to sink a nearly invincible hook shot, peel a whole apple without a break, and transcribe the poems living in her heart. You can learn more about Maya's adventures at www.mayastein.com. Credits: This episode's music is Typewriter (Tip Tip Tip) by Kisore Kumar & Asha Bhosle. The conversation was recorded at M.A.U.D.E on a pair of Blue enCORE 200 microphones, feeding into a Zoom H4n recorder. The intro and outro were recorded on Blue Yeti USB Microphone. Processing was done in Audacity and Garage Band. There was a space heater going, so I used a noise removal filter in Audacity. Photo of Ms. Stein (solo) by me, and photo of Ms. Stein and me by Amy Roth.
Type Rider decides to try to hit it big as a TV game show host. Things go down hill quickly as he realizes his contestants are a bit crazy. ET, Spark, and Chuck the alligator battle it out for the love of a chicken.
Type Rider decides to sort through the backlog of junk mail during the show and stumbles upon a flyer for a timeshare meeting. The Offer: a FREE big screen TV for sitting through the presentation. The Catch: it’s on the Balrog home planet, Helltopia. Will the crew make it out alive?
Type Rider tells us all about causing some chaos at the SPS Facility. Just when we think our package delivery problems are over an unexpected visitor interrupts the show.
The crew must deal with a strange gas leak in the studio. After that, Type Rider receives a damaged delivery from SPS. The show gets a bit derailed as he is forced to fight with customer service.
ET and Type Rider try to figure out a problem with the painter-bots that were hired to paint the outside of the Technopod. After that, ET continues his story. We’re introduced (or re-introduced?) to Mixer, learn more of Spark’s back-story, and meet a Varaxian World Destroyer.
The first episode has arrived! The first episode has arrived! ET and Type Rider start by introducing themselves and the crew of the TechnoPod. After a few interruptions, they get on track with the show, but soon realize nobody is going to believe they live in Outer Space. ET starts to tell the story of how he became an intergalactic DJ. We hope you enjoy the show. Stick around for more next Monday!
Herzlichen Glückwunsch an SEGA, The House of the Dead: Overkill– The Lost Reels ist der feuchte Traum jedes Pennälers. Nachzulesen in Mac & i, Ausgabe 12 (shameless self plug).
