Back in the 1980s, when many of today's performers (including Michele Ragusa!) were starting professional careers in Buffalo, Marc-Jon Filippone was a major figure, devoted to musicals, at all sorts of venues, from Ruben's Backstage on Pearl Street to the Lancaster Opera House to his own kitchen for after-show impromptu cabarets. Here Shakespeare in Delaware Park's Lisa Ludwig shares some memories, as does Paula Makar and Michael Lo Rocca.

Meghan Trainor guest stars on the new Billboard Pop Shop Podcast to discuss her first full-length album in three-and-a-half years, “Treat Myself,” and how “so much has changed” since her last album came out way back in 2016. “I’m a way different person, in the best ways,” she says, “I’m much happier.” Plus, she dishes on collaborating with Nicki Minaj and The Pussycat Dolls on the “fun, emotional and dancey” album, and what she wants listeners to think after hearing the album: “That they're not alone, and they're allowed to be happy, and that life is awesome, and we only get … this one chance, and this is it … so live it up!”
After a short break from 80s films, we're back with Ridley Scott's 1985 dark fantasy 'Legend'. Released right in the middle of the wave of dark fantasy films of the 80s, Legend is a bit of an anomaly, and definitely Tom's least Tom Cruisey role. Join Rachel & I as we discuss the outstanding SFX makeup, the breathtaking unicorns, the confusing script, the bewildering dialogue, Tim Curry's epic laugh and the many shots of Tom's groin. Do we take pre-season too seriously and is the Club ripping the fans off?Chelsea draw 1-1 v Bohemians in Lampard’s 1st match in charge with a mix of youngsters & loan returnees. Who caught the eye? What systems is Frank Lampard's coaching team using? What, if anything, will Lampard have learned and is it too early to see who might make it in to the first team squad and who won’t?With pre-season meltdown already in full swing, do the media and the fans take it too seriously? Is pre-season predominantly about fitness rather than performances & results? Is it unfair on fans to pass these games off as competitive or is it a good opportunity for overseas fans to see the team play?Support the Chelsea FanCast and become a Patron:Become a Patron!Chelsea are charging £1.99 per pre-season match to watch on the 5th stand app. Many fans paid but couldn’t watch and for many others the app crashed. All this while fans used to get all the pre-season games for their Chelsea TV subscription of £5.99 per month. While the Club issued an apology and a refund, are they missing the point? Should they be charging at all? Is it exploitative? Are the fans being increasingly treated as customers rather than supporters? In this weeks 'Legend of the week' sponsored by Classic Football Shirts, Dean chooses his boyhood hero Carlo Cudicini. But is he really a Chelsea legend? He is only the third Chelsea goalkeeper to win the Club's 'Player of the Year' in 2002 and arguably is the third best goalkeeper in the club's history, but the feeling remains that his Chelsea career is a case of what might have been, had Petr Cech not arrived and relegated Carlo to the bench. It should not be forgotten though, that Carlo in his Chelsea prime was one of the best 'keepers in the Premier League and arguably the world.Chelsea FanCast is broadcast on Love Sport Radio every Friday from 7.00-9.00 pm. Chelsea FanCast on Love Sport Radio – the only 100% Chelsea show on the radio! Jake Watson and Stamford Chidge are joined by special guest, Rick Glanvill, Chelsea's historian and author to round up this week's Chelsea news including the return of Frank Lampard and establish whether or not Chelsea has any history! Finally, after more '48 hours' than anyone can count, Frank Lampard has come home having been appointed as the next Chelsea manager (or Head Coach to be precise). What does Lampard’s appointment as manager mean to the supporters? Will the Club (or Roman to be precise) be patient? How will expectations be managed? How much of an issue is losing Hazard & the Transfer ban? Can Lampard really integrate the youth? Will the fans back him no matter what and just how long will he get?Support the Chelsea FanCast and become a Patron:Become a Patron! With pre-season starting next week, what will be on Lampard's to do list? Does he need to make a decision on Kante’s role? How will he replace Hazard’s goals & creativity?Who stays; who goes and who comes back? Which youth players will he integrate and can he sign up Callum Hudson-Odoi?When you have Chelsea's official historian on the show, it would be remiss not to establish once and for all whether Chelsea does in fact have any history! Rick answers this as well as whether there are any historical equivalent’s to Lampard’s appointment? Rick busts some history myths around Chelsea; looks at some historical low and high points and some of the great players, managers and characters from Chelsea's rich history. In this weeks 'Legend of the week' sponsored by Classic Football Shirts, we choose Paul Canoville, a fitting choice as the most popular guest on the Chelsea FanCast and there is no one better to discuss Canners than Rick who wrote Paul's fantastic biography Black & Blue Canners may not have been the greatest Chelsea player of all time, but his legacy in paving the way for so many great black players in Chelsea's recent history makes him one of the most important players to have worn the Blue of Chelsea. The Paul Canoville Foundation is the official Charity partner of the Chelsea Fancast and information on the great work that Paul does can be found here.Chelsea FanCast is broadcast on Love Sport Radio every Friday from 7.00-9.00 pm. Chelsea FanCast on Love Sport Radio – the only 100% Chelsea show on the radio! Johnny Burrow and Stamford Chidge are joined by special guest, Tim Rolls, author of 'Diamonds, Dynamos and Devils'; former Chairman of the Chelsea Supporters’ Trust; writer for cfcuk and Chelsea regular since 1967 to discuss his new book: 'Stamford Bridge Is Falling Down'.Rounding up the latest Chelsea news, with Chelsea rumoured to be signing Kovacic, does it make sense in the light of the transfer ban? Will a new manager get the best out of the Croatian international and former Real Madrid player?Talking new managers, the wait for Frank Lampard's appointment to be made official seems interminable. If, as expected, an agreement is concluded next week, which back room staff will Lampard bring with him from Derby. Is he the right man at the right time for Chelsea? Will his appointment go a long way to healing the rift between the supporters and the club? And with many pundits in the media claiming that the supporters will turn on Frank if he does not deliver the success they have become used to and now expect, Tim and Chidge set matters straight and explain why Lampard will get unequivocal and wholehearted support from the match going fans no matter what happens.Support the Chelsea FanCast and become a Patron:Become a Patron!Tim Rolls discusses his forthcoming book 'Stamford Bridge Is Falling Down' which explores the causes of the decline which saw Chelsea win the European Cup Winners Cup against Real Madrid in 1971 only to be relegated from Division One in 1975. Tim delves in to an era when the great 'Kings of the Kings Road' side started to break up with star players such as Peter Osgood and Alan Hudson being sold after falling out with manager Dave Sexton. With the club bankrupted by the ambitious redevelopment plans, no money was available to rebuild the team with quality players and the club's very future was threatened.Tim discussed the idea behind the book and explains how Chelsea went from Euro Cup winners to relegation in four years, highlighting the key characters and stories involved. But are there parallels with modern Chelsea?Tim is crowdfunding a hardback version of the book, including 24 photos, an index and a slip cover through Kickstarter. In this weeks 'Legend of the week' sponsored by Classic Football Shirts, we choose Peter Osgood, one of Chelsea's greatest players and a character central to Tim's book. Tim and Chidge recall some great memories of Ossie from his playing days and his time with Chelsea before his untimely death in 2006.Chelsea FanCast is broadcast on Love Sport Radio every Friday from 7.00-9.00 pm. Today on the show we have renaissance filmmaker Tanner Beard. I Had the pleasure of meeting him at the Mammoth Film Festival this year. His adventures in Hollywood are pretty amazing.Tanner Beard is a film and television actor, producer and director as well as CEO of Silver Sail Entertainment and Mammoth Film Festival. SSE was created during the industry strike of 2008 with a concentration on cultivating professional media content without sacrificing the integrity and artistic vision of the content creators themselves.Tanner has since produced various projects including a travel show, award-winning short films, award-winning documentaries, commercials, music videos and multiple seasons of a web-based television series. His feature film producer credits include critically acclaimed 'Hellion" starring Aaron Paul and Juliette Lewis, and 'Legend of Hell's Gate,' which he also wrote, directed and starred in alongside Eric Balfour, Henry Thomas, Jenna Dewan Tatum, Summer Glau, Kevin Alejandro, and Lou Taylor Pucci. Mammoth Film Festival was named by the press as "the biggest first-year film festival ever created" in 2018.In early 2015, Tanner Beard entered into a four-film partnership with iconic Oscar Nominated Director Terrance Malick and producer Sarah Green. 'Knight of Cups' stars Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling, Cate Blanchett, Michael Fassbender, and Natalie Portman. The only documentary of the partnership, 'Voyage of Time,' was produced alongside Brad Pitt, who also narrates the film. "What we're doing is leaving it up to our fans," explained vocalist for Florida's Sleeping With Sirens, Kellin Quinn ahead of the bands April tour of Australia, "and letting them decide the set that they wanna hear and then do our best to put together a set list that makes everybody feel they got what they want out of it. I think probably in the next week or so we're gonna go online and leave it up to our Australian fans to let us know what they want."Touring on the back of last years album Gossip, Quinn says the band are excited to bring their show to fans and was pleasantly surprised with the response the album received."I wasn't sure what to expect," he replied, "because it is a different sounding album for us but the response has been amazing! The sing-alongs have been awesome, especially songs like 'Legend'. 'Empire to Ashes' goes off really well too and then we've been doing 'Gossip' acoustically and you really get to hear everyone sing along. It's been incredible dude. Really, really fun."While acknowledging that every album has been written from the heart, Quinn concedes that the lyrics on Gossip are more-so, possibly to do with the coming-of-age sensation of leaving your twenties behind."I think they are all personal in a way," he agreed. "I try to - especially as I get older - I try to get as personal as possible. It's like a journal for me. It's my diary of sorts so depending on where I am in my life I try to invest as much of my emotional energy into it because I think that's what connects the most with people. This one was personal for me. I was going through some... I wouldn't say midlife crisis... but definitely going from boyhood to a man. I was watching an interview today with Pauly Shore and he said that when he turned thirty he cried because he didn't know how to become a man after being this boy for so long. I felt that in a way. I've grown up touring and being in a band and being young and doing stupid things and I have a family now and it's important for me to be more responsible. I think figuring that out through being a touring musician and making records was a really confusing thing for me."Learn more about the lyrics on Gossip as well as which band member is best to have on the road and lessons the band have learnt from touring Australia in the past that they plan to utilise this time around, plus perhaps a special reveal of where you are likely to catch up with the boys for a quick chat while they are over here in the audio interview below...Kris Peters
A screaming skull is a human skull which, according to legend, disturbs the house in which it's kept by screaming, speaking, or causing other disturbances. In the case of a few of these skulls, they are the focus of hauntings which stop when the skull is laid to rest – but in the majority of stories, the act of removing the skull from inside the house is what sparks off the trouble. Brian's up first this week and he can't stop going on about how pretty Uncharted 4 is. The best Uncharted game? Who knows. Only 16% do, but he's already making his way through the game a second time. After that, he talks Overwatch and Justin shares his thoughts on the game too. Seems like they're having fun. What's also fun (relative) is hearing about more Fallout 4. So, buckle up for that. But don't worry, Anthony's got a few tricks up his sleeve. First, Shadow of the Beast. A game Gary talked about in Under Your Thumb last week. Followed by the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game. John Wilson continues with the fifth series of Mastertapes, the programme in which he talks to leading performers and songwriters about the album that made them or changed them. Recorded in front of a live audience at the BBC's iconic Maida Vale Studios. Programme 7. DONOVAN talks to John Wilson about 'Sunshine Superman', which according to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame "ignited the psychedelic revolution virtually single-handedly" when it was released in the summer of 1966. 'Sunshine Superman' is Donovan's breakthrough third album and a radical departure from his previous work. Born in Glasgow, Donovan Phillips Leitch grew up listening to his father reading him poetry and his family singing Scots Irish folk music. He began playing guitar when he was 14 and was 18 when he had his first hit, 'Catch the Wind'. A year later he began work on the album that first introduced meditation, Celtic mythology and Flower Power to the world. Creating a unique fusion of classical, jazz, folk, pop, Celtic, Latin and Indian music, the album veered from the LA-influenced 'The Trip' and 'The Fat Angel' (written for Mama Cass) to the medieval tinged 'Guinevere' and 'Legend of a Girl Child Linda' (written for Brian Jones' ex-girlfriend Linda Lawrence who became Donovan's life-long muse and wife). Linda is also the Sunshine Super-Girl of the song 'Sunshine Superman' which topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic and featured a young Jimmy Page on lead guitar. The B-side of the programme, where it's the turn of the audience to ask the questions, can be heard on Tuesday 12th January at 3.30pm. Producer: Clare Walker.

Jeff Bayer and Eric D. Snider are back live! We’re talking about two really good films that hit the screens this week: ‘The Social Network’ and ‘Let Me In.’ Both decided ‘The Social Network’ is a must see. Then, since we were gone last week it was time for rapid-fire reviews. We gave three minutes each to “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,” “Catfish,” “Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole,” “The Virginity Hit,” “Jack Goes Boating,” “Case 39,” and “You Again.” We also blew the Question of the Week, but we have one for next week.
