LA CHRIS has been consuming vegan content for a while so this might indicate a certain level of curiosity within. Although he claims to be up for cat and dog burgers, I believe his arguments are a defence barrier from the truth. Jackass's Jason “Wee Man” Acuna is such an Ozzy fan, he crossed the ocean to see the Back To The Beginning gig before even having a ticket. (He made it in, Thank God.) The biggest little metalhead on the planet joins Discograffiti in paying tribute to the all-time greatest metal band in a whipcrack-fast three-part series that'll school you in how metal got started. And to sweeten the pot, we're only covering the Ozzy era. Here's just a few of the many things that Wee Man discusses with Discograffiti in this podcast: A rundown of his experience attending the already-legendary Back To The Beginning gig; The band's early days growing out of the late-Sixties British blues scene; The great allure of turning their debut record around in 48 hours flat that continued to hold appeal as a way of working for some members of the group; The shockingly depressive underpinning of Geezer's lyrics for “Paranoid”; How in the hell Wee Man deals with his Jackass-induced aches & pains; A look back at Wee Man's relationship with Billy Barty when he was a kid; And an in-depth deep dive on every song off Black Sabbath and Paranoid! In this episode, Rick, David and Ripley fire up the engines and roast the rubber right off the horological racetrack, starting with F1 sponsorships. Richard Mille is, not surprisingly, everywhere — possibly even sponsoring Nico Hülkenberg's breakfast cereal, though sadly not his wrist. Bremont and Oris get a few pity laps around the F1 circuit, too, mostly to remind us they exist. Then comes the GPHG segment, where Bernie Watch's entry is dissected with surgical sarcasm, and the entry fee gets more airtime than some indie brands' entire press cycles. Ripley's debut on Watchonista is both celebrated and roasted — equal parts milestone and meme. His age? Unclear. His relevance? Surprisingly intact. David's deep dive into watch accuracy sparks a debate about whether a $200 watch should be accurate or just accurate-ish. Casio's mechanical debut and Seiko's NH35 go under the loupe, with everyone pretending to be regulation experts. Then it's time for “Which Watch is Like…”, a wildly off-the-rails analogy fest: Seiko is Golden Road Brewing (too many SKUs), Panerai is ProTech knives (tough but niche), and Hamilton is Crystal Geyser (dependable, often overlooked, possibly better cold). New releases get dunked on and dissected: The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms “Tech” is questioned for lacking actual tech, the Zeitwerk Date in pink gold is labeled “bougie but temperamental,” and the Vario x RZE Trench Watch is the rare affordable winner.Check Out This Week's Sponsor:Ace Jewelers - https://www.acejewelers.com/

We honor the work of Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away this week at age 76. Andrew and Dominique give Ozzy his flowers for being a much greater singer, performer and ambassador for rock and heavy metal music than people realize. We talk about the grim circumstances that led to Ozzy co-founding Black Sabbath with Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi and Bill Ward, and we consider how Satanic panic unwittingly fueled the band's rise in the ‘70s. We stop down on some highlights from Ozzy's incredible solo career and consider how music history would have been different had his widow and longtime manager Sharon Osbourne not entered the picture. Also, we consider how perfectly Ozzy exited, from his revelatory final performance in Birmingham, raising $200 million for charity, and seeing all of his friends one last time.Tell us about your first listen @AtFirstListenpodcast on Instagram!Subscribe so you don't miss an episode!(Episode 38.)

Geezer and I have crossed paths in rugby circles in almost every capacity as players, coaches, on the same team and on opposite sides. Now I have been retired for some time, it is with great clarity that I can say that Mike is the best coach I ever had - a superb mixture of incredibly detailed technical appreciation, motivational skills and the ability to create a culture that bred excellence are just some of the reasons why I rate him so highly. This interview was recorded in August of 2019 and we had an in-depth chat about the achievements and challenges for USA rugby - both the 7's and the 15-a-side version of the game. We got into coaching philosophies and Mike shared some genuine coaching knowledge-bombs. If you are a young or new coach then there is some seriously good advice in this episode for you. And lastly, we talked about Mike's amateur club - Bromley RFC where three generations of the family Friday are still involved. Lighting legend Benoit Richard returns for a long-overdue follow-up to his original appearance on Geezers of Gear, recorded just before the pandemic changed the world. In this episode, Benoit dives into how his career evolved since 2020, shifting further into motion picture and television work while continuing to apply his concert touring experience behind the scenes. From massive Marvel blockbusters like Avengers and Iron Man, to high-profile commercial shoots and reshoots, Benoit reflects on what's changed, what's remained the same, and what still excites him most about the work. He also opens up about the realities of life after 50 in this business (hello, Freedom 71!), and whether it's time for live touring crews to push for better wages, healthcare, and long-term support. With his trademark honesty and humility, Benoit shares practical insights on previs, his love for L8 software, and the enduring motto that's guided his decades-long journey in the lighting world: "Early is on-time. On-time is late."This episode is brought to you by ETC and Artistry In Motion

Paris returns to the pod to talk about Elon's first few weeks running the US government, and the mysterious group of teenagers he's hired to find copper wire. We talk about the ideological origins of DOGE, some of the characters that make up the group, and what Elon's other business strategies suggest about the true purpose of the department. We also talk about the political uses of austerity in the American context, how this ultimately serves to benefit a more power hungry Silicon Valley, and the need to dismantle American control of the internet itself. Brent Rivard had a long, successful career in advertising, working for major ad agencies in New York and Toronto. But as he entered his 50s, Brent faced an industry that is focused on youth in both it's work and it's staffing. The average age of an individual working in advertising is just 29 years old. Teamed with two advertising executives also in their early 50s, he is in the process of building a groundbreaking agency called “Geezer.” The new company is different from traditional agencies in two major ways: Geezer is focused on serving the 50+ market (the most lucrative segment of the population); The agency is staffed by seasoned veterans – all with 25+ years of experience in the advertising profession. According to Brent, “Ageism is a big problem in the advertising agency world and we need to do something about it.” Click here to learn more about Geezer and their unique approach to advertising.
