With the largest goon roped down, Frenchie quick drops a net to gather the flock, which in turn, exposes Scarecrow. Moon Knight quickly takes down Scarecrow but he teases Marc about Bushman’s return. Moon Knight is haunted by the news and finishes Scarecrow. That night, lying in bed with Marlene, Khonshu returns to Marc still looking for blood – he grows more hungry for vengeance. Marc decides to visit his closet and look for a certain tape that could remind him of his new purpose as Khonshu becomes louder: the police interview from Carmilla Dominguez before the Trial of Marc Spector. Watching her testimonial reminds Marc of his new path. Meanwhile, Frenchie is at a gala function and still sees the former horrendous man he was behind the mirror. Back on the streets, Moon Knight looks for Crawley to find more information on Bushman. Randomly, they are attacked as an inmate knocks Crawley down hard. Out from the shadows emerges Bushman; Marc’s fears are real. Moon Knight rushes to Bushman but he fires a rocket launcher at him, to which Marc dodges, but hits the siding of a building. Moon Knight quickly runs to the siding and uses his carbonadium suit to help level the building, however, this leaves Marc exposed to attacks. Bushman sets a heavy blow to Moon Knight’s stomach but Marc continues to hold the siding. With Bushman on top, he leaves his inmates to attack Marc in order to make the building collapse on him. Just as they make their move, Moon Knight quickly finds a way to support the building and attack the inmates. Just as a large goon arrives to stump Marc, he manages to trick him by allowing the siding to fall on him. With Bushman gone and the inmates defeated, Marc cuts a crescent moon on the large goons fabric shirt (not exposing blood) to leave his mark. Moon Knight’s Angelwing (a MK version of the Hobglider) arrives just as Spider-Man witnesses the carving. Peter questions Marc’s new persona as he too doesn’t trust his new ethics. Yet, as Peter is talking to Marc about having a “code”, Marc replies: “how’s that working out for you?” as Norman Osborn billboard hangs above him. MOON RATING : Russell:

LEVI’S Global Brand President, Jen Sey [Episode 39]

Damn Good Brands

Play Episode Listen Later May 7, 2021 34:06

Jen Sey is the global brand president at Levi Strauss & Co.,  where she is responsible for marketing, design, merchandising, and brand experience. Jen has been with Levi Strauss & Co. for more than 20 years, holding a variety of leadership positions within the Marketing, Strategy, and Ecommerce teams. In 2013, Jen became the global chief marketing officer for the Levi’s brand and in 2018 was appointed senior vice president and chief marketing officer, overseeing marketing for the company’s portfolio of brands. Jen has been named one of AdAge’s "Top 40 Marketers Under 40" one of Brand Innovators' "Top 50 Women in Marketing," Billboard Magazine’s "Top 25 Most Powerful People in Music and Fashion," receiver of the CMO Social Responsibility Award and she was featured on Forbes CMO Next List: 50 Chief Marketers Who Are Redefining the CMO role. As a child, Jen led an intense life of dedication, challenge, and competition. She won the U.S. National Gymnastics Championship title in 1986, less than one year after having suffered a devastating injury at the 1985 World Championships. As a result, the U.S. Olympic Committee named her Gymnastics’ Athlete of the Year. Jen retired after eight years on the national team and went on to study at Stanford University. In 2008, Jen released a memoir, “Chalked Up,” a New York Times E-Book Best Seller detailing her triumphs and struggles within the world of competitive gymnastics. Jen's book led to her producing a Netflix documentary on the investigation and ultimate conviction of Larry Nassar and the decades-long abusive culture of USA Gymnastics. This was a pretty wide-ranging conversation and Jen really over delivered on the leadership advice here, focusing a lot on how climbing the corporate ladder is not always a recipe for success in corporate America, as well as details on how Levi's weathered the storm of COVID-19 and keys to establishing an authentic company culture.    Here are some key takeaways from this conversation with Jen. Focus on expansion over upward progression. This is a great piece of career advice. In addition to her executive position at a Fortune 500 brand, Jen is a former elite athlete, published author, and successful documentary producer. She has had accomplishments in many disparate arenas, and each experience seems to have compounded to develop her professionally in ways that serve just about everything she does. This may run counter to the 'Jack of all trades' debate, but Jen makes it work beautifully. When Jen found herself overly focused on climbing the corporate ladder, she frequently felt stuck. What Jen found to be a much more effective and enjoyable strategy for her career progression was to focus on experiences and projects that would expand her skill sets and knowledge base. Doing so made her a much more well-rounded professional with the ability to pivot, adapt, and learn new skills, all of which served her tremendously as a leader.   Bring a unified version of yourself to everything you do. When publishing her first book, Jen's initial instinct was to be silent about it out of concern it could make her seem less dedicated to her corporate work. As her book's popularity blew up and she began doing a robust amount of media interviews, ultimately, she could no longer hide it. What ended up happening when people found out though, was the opposite of what she had feared; her new accomplishment was extremely impressive to many people and made her more synonymous with being outspoken, creative, and downright more interesting, all of which ultimately helped her career. So if you're accomplishing a lot with your side hustles, don't hide them because they may just help boost your corporate persona. Creating an environment for true selves is the key to authenticity, and it starts at the top.  Leaders who are forthright about their own feelings give others permission to do the same. This has never been more important than now, where a lot of managers and executives are relinquishing the notion of a flawless and unfeeling leader as an outdated archetype.  Instead, today's leaders are feeling free to be honest and vulnerable around their staff, which gives those who report to them the license to do the same. This level of transparency is what truly allows corporate atmospheres to blossom into authentic communities.

Information, time, and busyness seem to be competing for our focus. Living in an age where distraction is the main attraction, how are you supposed to think? So much of my growing up while raising a young family required me to control chaos and constant celebrations. We were a party every day; (and still are). Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://bit.ly/WomenofIMPACT What I found fascinating was that no matter what was happening, it was my thoughts that got me through the day. If I was one to wake-up on the wrong side of the bed, oh my goodness --- stand clear. When mama is upset, the whole house is upset. Tension and stress feed off of each other. When we try to get stuff done, but find ourselves multi-tasking poorly, what ends up happening is that we perform more shallow tasks. We struggle with going deeper and keep shallow just to skim what needs to be taken care of. This really is a drawback, because you leave your best in the closet. You have limited opportunities to get what you really need done and do it well. You've heard the saying, 'Jack of all trades, master of none.' That becomes your mantra without even knowing that you adopted it as such. But life doesn't have to be all shallow living. You can live life on purpose with focus. The K.I.S.S. ~ Live life on purpose with focus! Too much of our days are spent spinning. But the really cool thing is that you get to choose how you live your every day. So how do you live life on purpose with focus? Choose your thoughts wisely. Don't leave it up to the world to make the decision on what you should think about. You decide. Focus on one thing. Multi-tasking leads you in circles. Stay grounded in your faith. Pray, read, and lean on God. You are in the business of grooming your thoughts every day. So throw out the junk, declutter the piles, and clarify your intention. This will keep the focused mind present and engaged. "Be present. Be incredible. IT'S A HEARTY WOOF & A MEOW THIS WEEK BOOKSHELVERS!Steve, Nat & Corrin are thrilled to be joined by Chirag Patel this week who is one half, along with the wonderful Nanci Creedon, of a hosting super team for a conversation about their new TV show Cats and Dogs at War. If you haven't caught the show yet you MUST! In a world where it seems all too easy to shout about what you don't like on the telly box, this show has come along and shown just how to make animal training on television the RIGHT way! Unfortunately Nanci couldn't join us for the chat but that just means we have to have the dynamic duo back at some point (especially to hear about all the out takes). We also get into training techniques, reaching the human side of the equation and just how to be generally better in a world of pointing fingers. Hope you all enjoy xChirag FactsChirag entered the field professionally in 2004 and has since become a leading figure in the profession internationally. He consults on the behaviour management and training of all animals living under human care (including domestic and wild ones). He is highly sought after for work with high profile private clients, organisations as well as teaching workshops and presenting at conferences. Chirag has been an expert on a number of TV shows including on BBC 1’s TV Series Nightmare Pets SOS and more recently 5 Stars’ Cats and Dogs at War has given TV interviews worldwide. Chirag is passionate about the application of ethical behaviour change science to improve the life of animals living under human care by teaching animals to be active participants in their own daily and veterinary care in a low-stress manner. The goal is to empower all learners including the human ones. Hark Bookshelvers! It is time to sing like a Samoyed and chuckle like a Chihuahua as it's Off The Shelf time again!Back just in time for a drastic weather change in the UK Corrin, Nat & Steve get to catch up with their old buddy and all round 'top dude' Jordan Shelley! Jordan is a Dog trainer and behaviour specialist - Animal welfare campaigner - Presenter, producer and writer as well as all that great stuff we all used to chew the proverbials on the "Barking Mad Show" back in the day so it was lovely to catch up and see what Jordan has been up to in his, always interesting, life.It turns out that amongst other things Jordan has set up a very important petition to Ban the importation of dogs with cropped ears (a worthy cause indeed). In Jordans words: "There appears to be an alarming rise in dogs imported after undergoing the inhumane procedure of having their ears mutilated, fulfilling the desire for a certain ‘look’ & encouraging a procedure outlawed in England since 1899. It’s time to close this 121-year-old legal loophole".This is a very important cause and we would love if all you Bookshelvers in the UK could sign the petition.Link to the Petition to Ban The Importation Of Dogs With Cropped Earshttps://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/333456?fbclid=IwAR2ynjv1l2yOHa5BQPWl9cFakanVn93a5hWXTj7-NzzvRZt4zYl2U9MY4OcLink to Jordan Shelley's Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/jordanwshelleyLink to Steve & Corrins Goodall Dog Training Facebook pagehttps://www.facebook.com/goodalldogs/Link to Nat's Training & Behaviour Facebook pagehttps://www.facebook.com/Natdogs/Link to Drax's Galactic Adventure Facebook page (Nat's rescued Irish Wolfhound)https://www.facebook.com/Draxthewolfhound/Link to Steve & Sallys Childrens book 'Jack & Billy Puppy Tales'https://www.facebook.com/JackandBillyPuppyTales/Link to Grant Sharkey's Spotify page (Grant's amazing song 'Grow' features each week as our outro tune.https://open.spotify.com/artist/13PaCwwgVR77TbJH6XAVHQ?si=EOQGmWdCRCiXdECNmJvNAQ

It's another edition of our series of Conversations with the Candidates, and Tom's guest today is the Mayor of Baltimore, Bernard C. "Jack" Young, a veteran city lawmaker and former City Council President who stepped into the mayor’s job about a year ago when Catherine Pugh resigned. Mayor Young has spent years in City Government, and the year he has spent as the Mayor has been eventful, to say the least. It began with a crippling ransomware attack on the city’s computer system and now, of course, the city is dealing with an unprecedented global pandemic. More than 2,800 city residents have been infected with the Coronavirus. Nearly 150 Baltimoreans have died from COVID 19. And, the longstanding problem of violence on city streets remains. More than 92 people have been victims of homicide so far this year. Now, even as he leads the City's battle against the COVID-19 pandemic, Mayor Young is campaigning to keep his job, as one of nearly two dozen mayoral candidates competing in the upcoming Democratic primary election. The primary will be held mostly by mail. Only four in-person voting centers will be open on June 2nd, for people who are not able to vote by mail. June 2nd is also your deadline to mail in your ballot. For more information on voting, click here. Mayor Young joins us from his campaign office in Station North.
