Abita in un paesino del Cilento ed è molto legata al padre, che viene soprannominato Sarchiapone, ma nello stesso tempo si vergogna di lui perché spesso ha l'odore degli alimenti che vende nel suo negozio. A nove anni Marianeve incontra le sue amiche nello sgabuzzino del negozio e qui iniziano a esplorare i propri corpi e a fare giochi considerati proibiti. Marianeve si accorge ben presto di avere uno strano dono: ha la capacità di guarire gli altri attraverso le sue parti intime. Succede, per esempio, con l'amica Lucrezia che ha dei terribili mal di testa. Questo dono insolito si manifesta anche quando va all'università a Napoli e "guarisce" un ragazzo che aveva sul viso un'enorme macchia rossa. Marianeve guarisce, dunque, gli altri attraverso il proprio corpo, esattamente come aveva fatto nel '600 Giulia Di Marco, suora eretica realmente esistita, che aveva fondato la setta della Carità Carnale. Sad news, guys. Our beloved Abita passed away last Tuesday. My grandmother, Olga Antonetti, who we all call Abita, was a part of this show. Over the last few years, I spoke to all kinds of folks and did a lot of intros from her backyard, including last week's Pete Droge episode. She was even on it reviewing "The Help" in 2011. So, I thought I would put out a short episode talking about her and what she meant to me. She had a big spirit that I believe still lives in all of us that were lucky enough to know her. She'll be missed.

About Witness IntimidationWitness intimidation is as old as crime itself. And it actually is a crime – witness intimidation, witness tampering. From the attorney general of Pennsylvania comes the very recent case of Dushawn Ellis who was facing charges of human trafficking. While in jail, he put out a $20,000 hit on the witness. Ellis approached another inmate of the county prison who knew the witness and used that connection and the bounty to video chat with the witness and personally make the threat. The witness held their ground and Ellis was charged with two counts of felony witness intimidation and one count of obstruction of justice. He was convicted by a jury in February 2024, was sentences to 8 ½ to 22 years. The original human trafficking was ongoing as of that time.

This is probably our most ambitious episode ever. We'll be eating well-known New Orleans dishes, along with Abita beer, and then making New Orleans cocktails and pairing them with paczkis. We apologize in advance for all the mouth noises. Abita is the classic New Orleans beer and a lot of their offerings pair great with local cuisine. Mardi Gras Bock is a more of a Maibock than a doppelbock, which makes it a clean, easy-drinking beer. It pairs perfectly with the shrimp étoufée, red beans & rice and jambalaya. The story of Abita Beer, Louisiana's first craft brewery, all began in the sleepy little town of Abita Springs. In 1986, the Blossman family ventured into the business at a downtown Abita Springs location — a 100-seat brew pub, which they completely outgrew by 1994. Today, Abita Brew Pub is owned and operated by the second generation of the Essaied family who continue to serve delicious American fare in a comfortable, casual atmosphere right on the Abita Springs Trailhead. Every November, the world comes straight to the pub's door when they host the annual Abita Fall Fest, bringing 12 hours of nonstop music, food, and fun. SHOW NOTES: 1) Optimizing Your Growth -Fence 5.5% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) and an average install takes 8-16 hours residential -Gate operators 5.6% CAGR and an average install takes 4-6 hours residential AND commercial -Access control 6.48% CAGR -CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) 13.1% CAGR. -The more you can offer your customer the more you will make. -How often do you turn down jobs, or have to contract / sub out jobs? **You're leaving money on the table if so.**  2) State Requirements -The only states requiring licensing are:  Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, and Oklahoma. -More and more states are looking into having licensing (Florida is next on the list) -That's why Southwest Automated Security is working so closely with the AFA and now the FWA. -The AFA and FWA's goal is to legitimize the industry. -That includes fence installers, gate installers and access control installers. -Louisiana requires you to be one or all of the following: -Licensed Electrician -Licensed Gate Operator -Licensed Contractor -If you're in Mississippi, Nevada or Oklahoma contact your State Fire Marshall for required licenses - As of right now, the AFA is focusing on the education and certification of each with the FWA on the heels of implementing the same protocols -Testing is held through the Accreditation & Certification Institute. -How many times have you come into contact with contractors that think they can do it all but really can't? -They can't build a fence like Victor Vasquez or install an operator like Brian Frederiksen. -Those guys are definitely professionals. -Even Dan and Cannon have partnered with the AFA and other groups like the FWA and even Tony Thornton's consulting group to help elevate your companies. 3) Potential higher earnings The natural progression for your company would be: -Fence installation TO gate operator installation TO access control installation TO CCTV -I'm not saying each of these steps are necessary- but this is how you would naturally grow your company. -SAS has customers who were strictly fence builders for years touching 1-2 operators a year. -In 6-12 months many of those companies have left fencing completely. -They've enjoyed the challenge that the operators brought and how much more profit comes with less physically demanding work.  4) Importance of finding a great sales partner/supplier - SAS is all about relationship selling. Our industry has seen its share of mergers and acquisitions over the last several years. Fencing industry suppliers and Gate operator manufacturers both. Many of the fence supply distributors sell gate operators.
