The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that overallemployment for Sports Psychologists is projected to grow by 7% from 2023 to2033, which is faster than the average for all occupations. On average, about13,000 job openings for psychologists are expected each year over the nextdecade. Many of these openings will stem from the need to replace workers whoare transferring to different occupations or exiting the labor force, such asthrough retirement. Sports psychologist Scott Goldman, PhD, consultingperformance psychologist for the Golden State Warriors, highlights that while elite athletes arevaluable performers, they are also human beings like anyone else. “I see myrole as a psychologist within a sports organization as being an embedded360-degree resource,” he explains, serving athletes, coaches, and front officemanagers who are responsible for talent evaluation and staff onboarding. Goldman was one of the first clinically trainedpsychologists to become an integral part of both college and professionalsports organizations. His early full-time positions at the NCAA level includedroles at the University of Arizona and the University of Michigan. He has alsoworked with professional teams such as the Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions, and has consulted for the Washington Wizards and Chicago Cubs. One of Goldman'skey achievements is the development of the Athletic Intelligence Quotient (AIQ)assessment tool, which measures the performance-specific cognitive traits thatcontribute to athletic success. He collaborated with James Bowman, PsyD, fromthe Albert Ellis Institute in New York City, on the AIQ for 15 years before itwas published in 2012. The test, described in a 2020 article in the New YorkTimes Magazine as “a comprehensive user's manual to an elite athlete's brain,”is utilized by the NCAA and various professional sports teams, as well asinternational clubs and first responder departments. Goldman's team defines intelligence as “the ability toacquire, process, and apply information.” Drawing from the Cattell-Horn-Carrolltheory of intelligence, Goldman and Bowman sought to define the cognitiveabilities that are most relevant in navigating the complex challenges ofsports: “We viewed sport as a constantly mutating puzzle and asked ourselves,‘What cognitive abilities are most impactful in solving that?'” Goldmanrecalls. Over the past decade, awareness of the importance ofprotecting athletes' mental health has significantly increased. Goldmancontributed to the 2013 National Athletic Trainers Association's consensusstatement on addressing psychological concerns among college athletes and waspart of the mental health task force that established "bestpractices" for the NCAA in 2016. In 2019, both the NBA and NFL beganrequiring teams to provide regular access to behavioral health clinicians attheir facilities, leading many NFL teams to hire psychologists for thispurpose. Goldman joined me this week to share more insights on these importantdevelopments. For more information: https://aiq.team/ Email: sgoldman@aiq.team LinkedIn: @ScottGoldmanPh.D

“Our methodology changes the paradigm,” says Blake Wetzel who is the CEO of AIQ. “We take the entire universe of the market of a particular service. It could be any of a hundred different categories of types of spend. We identify the market. We narrow the market based on qualifications. customer requirements, but we don't talk price up until the narrowing is done, and at that point then we allow the suppliers to compete, with each other. We create a market condition, we put them in an auction, they are bidding against each other. They see what each other is bidding, the supplier names are controlled, but they will then compete, with each other. What that generates is about 2 .6 times the benefit of traditional procurement models, and by doing it you are getting the best price for the services that you actually can go create.” In this podcast, recorded at MSP Expo, we learn about a different way to save. As technology moves from fixed capital costs to a subscription “as a service” model, the promised savings is that the customer is buying just what he needs, and typically, just when its needed. But subscription prices might get stuck at the levels they were when first introduced. AIQ creates a market, determines a price, and then delivers an ongoing savings by getting pricing in line with current conditions. The price changes. The level of service remains the same. “I actually grew up in the channel, adds Blake, regarding his partner program. “The beauty of our program is we built the program as a referral program. They don't need to go learn a bunch of new technology. They don't need to go learn our business. In fact, it's better if they don't. What we want is that they've got a client who meets those criteria that we talked about, who needs to save money. They're having stress on their growth numbers or they're just making an introduction.” Visit https://www.aiq.co/

Summary Databases and analytics architectures have gone through several generational shifts. A substantial amount of the data that is being managed in these systems is related to customers and their interactions with an organization. In this episode Tasso Argyros, CEO of ActionIQ, gives a summary of the major epochs in database technologies and how he is applying the capabilities of cloud data warehouses to the challenge of building more comprehensive experiences for end-users through a modern customer data platform (CDP). Your host is Tobias Macey and today I'm interviewing Tasso Argyros about the role of a customer data platform in the context of the modern data stack Interview Introduction How did you get involved in the area of data management? Can you describe what the role of the CDP is in the context of a businesses data ecosystem? What are the core technical challenges associated with building and maintaining a CDP? What are the organizational/business factors that contribute to the complexity of these systems? The early days of CDPs came with the promise of "Customer 360". Can you unpack that concept and how it has changed over the past ~5 years? Recent years have seen the adoption of reverse ETL, cloud data warehouses, and sophisticated product analytics suites. How has that changed the architectural approach to CDPs? How have the architectural shifts changed the ways that organizations interact with their customer data? How have the responsibilities shifted across different roles? What are the governance policy and enforcement challenges that are added with the expansion of access and responsibility? What are the most interesting, innovative, or unexpected ways that you have seen CDPs built/used? What are the most interesting, unexpected, or challenging lessons that you have learned while working on CDPs? When is a CDP the wrong choice? What do you have planned for the future of ActionIQ? When, and if, the economy throttles down, or if the sector your firm serves, finds a slower time in 2024, staff trimming will come back in fashion. Fresh from the Big Resignation, still with labor shortages still at hand, the fastest way to cut costs, most CFOs typically think, is to reduce staff. A thousand articles might have been posted abut why this process can be kike taking a stun gun to a company's culture, but staff cutting could come back. Blake Wetzel, Chief Executive Officer, AIQ suggests that there might be an alternative. That alternative could also open partner opportunities too. In this podcast, Blake describes a process the AIQ takes to corporate IT spending. The idea is not to cut or eliminate the actual needed services or to create a make do, or makeshift program. Instead AIQ goes in and figures out the real, current market price for the services a company is purchasing. Since efficiencies and improvements, often lower costs per unit of service delivered, or changes require less of some services to be purchased, AIQ can find substantial savings. We learn that those savings can be in the millions. That means scores of saved jobs, and a seamless process. The only change are the costs. We also learn about a new partner program that enables partners to go well beyond the trusted advisor who tells the customer what to buy and into the trusted buyer who offers very measurable saving, without any change in needed services delivered. “With a partner, it's a win, win, win.” The partner is relieving the customer of a pain point, not selling the customer a new service, and is delivering a big cost savings. All that's required for a partner is a simple referral. https://www.aiq.co/
On this week's episode of the Going Deep podcast, Brandon Angelo and Matt Waldman discuss development expectations for Quentin Johnston, why C.J. Stroud is ahead of the rookie curve, the good and pad of pre-draft processing tests, uncaging Lamar Jackson's game, and coming to terms with the Chiefs' offense. Brandon Angelo works in sports and human performance. A former 4-time All-American and Power Five conference champion sprinter, Brandon is a mentor, instructor, and guide for athletes. He's also the proprietor of Angelo Analysis, a subscription-based fantasy website devoted to player evaluation. After doing a few podcasts together during the past 12 months, Brandon and I decided we would enjoy having a recurring show to discuss aspects of player evaluation and NFL Draft topics that you don't often hear about in mainstream media. This pre-draft pod about the NFL's disparities with 40 times and several more '23 draft and free agent topics is a must-listen. Going Deep will feature podcasts twice a month. You can either watch/listen on YouTube, listen from the player at the bottom of the page, or download the podcast at most outlets, including Google, Spotify, and iTunes. This Week's Topics Quentin Johnston's developmental arc and putting his pre-draft scouting report into proper perspective. Why all early-round picks shouldn't have the same expectations based on draft capital. C.J. Stroud and the factors contributing to him being ahead of the rookie development curve. S2, AIQ, and the good and bad of these processing tests. The Ravens uncaging Lamar Jackson's game and the behaviors of others that led to it being limited in the first place. Coming to grips with the Chiefs offense and why Patrick Mahomes may be the reason Kansas City doesn't have strong production at wide receiver. Blake Wetzel, CEO of AuctionIQ, discusses how companies can save money on technology expenses through a reverse auction process. Blake has experience as both a CFO and CEO and explains how his financial background helps him as a CEO. He outlines how AIQ evaluates a company's entire technology spend, identifies areas for savings, and runs a competitive bidding process to get the best price while still meeting quality requirements. Companies can typically save 40% on costs this way compared to 15% through traditional negotiations. Benefits include increased cash flow and enterprise value. The process takes 3-4 months on average. Tips for CFOs include finding an expert partner to manage the process and getting contracts and invoices organised beforehand. Blake explains that AIQ's patented reverse auction process involves first vetting suppliers to ensure they meet the client's technical and other requirements. AIQ sits down individually with each potential supplier to evaluate how well their solution matches what the client needs. Suppliers are given a qualitative score based on this evaluation. The suppliers that pass the threshold then participate in a live auction where they can see other suppliers' bids and bid against each other in real-time. This competitive dynamic drives prices down further than traditional one-on-one negotiations. On average, reverse auctions yield savings of 40% compared to 15% for direct negotiations. The process aims to find the best supplier at the right price, not necessarily the lowest price bidder. https://youtu.be/coiW6ti0Ydc Links Join GrowCFO today GrowCFO Finance Transformation Boot Camp Blake Wetzel on LinkedIn Kevin Appleby on LinkedIn Timestamps Introducing Blake Wetzel (0.11) Saving cash through technology expenses with a former CFO. Consultants might make elaborate claims about cost cutting, but AIQ delivers direct savings, not simply advice on how to save. In this podcast, recorded at MWC Las Vegas 2023, Blake Wetzel, AIQ CEO, describes a highly differentiated set of services that his company provides that begins and ends with enterprises saving large and measurable amounts. Saving IT spend can save IT and other jobs. Money saved can free up money for R&D. Money saved can really help when growth is harder in a slower economic environment. As time goes by, IT departments literally acquire recurring charges, contracts, and other ongoing monthly costs. Staff and leadership changes, technology adoption, shifts in the way the company operates and uses technology, all occur. A perfectly legitimate and critical service might not have been recently priced to compare to current pricing for the same service or similar services. Other services might have gradually fallen off in use, or the amount of capacity being purchased no longer matches need. AIQ dives deeply into the spend, and even creates markets to discover the real and current price on services being bought. AIQ establishes fair market value for services an enterprise is buying. The initial price might have been market driven at the time, but the AIQ process can determine the current value. We learn how this process has saved one customer $18 million, per year. Wetzel describes how AIQ has a partner opportunity and can offer partners a highly rewarding and welcomed service, without special training or pre-market investment. Partners can go directly to their customers with a trusted advisor story that will result in substantial savings for the customer. Visit https://www.aiq.co/

CSI Litigation Consultant Ava Hernandez, M.A. joins Bill Kanasky, Jr., Ph.D. to discuss witness mental health. Often, fact witnesses that are preparing for deposition may be suffering from psychological issues that could impact their performance during prep and especially during the actual deposition. Bill and Ava talk about how witnesses that have been summoned to testify could be dealing with anxiety not just about the litigation itself, but also other issues in their personal and professional lives that make it challenging for them to focus and perform during deposition prep. All witnesses need to be evaluated, assessed, and any emotional or mental issues need to be identified and addressed, before the attorney begins their deposition preparation with the witness. They also discuss how some witnesses will appear to be doing better than they actually are and may be reluctant to allow others to know how they are really feeling, so working with someone who has experience asking the right questions of the witness to assess their true emotional and mental state is crucial. It's important to acknowledge how unfamiliar the situation is, to validate their feelings, and process those feelings so they can focus fully on the preparation. Lastly, Bill and Ava discuss practical steps that can be taken with witnesses to maximize their deposition performance. Watch the video of this episode: https://www.courtroomsciences.com/r/Aiq

AIQ Podcast: Helps when cash runs tight or for companies seeking to have a higher value. When household brand name companies must reduce expenses, they have been approaching AIQ to find savings on their IT and services spend. According to AIQ's Blake Wetzel, AIQ uses a highly patented reverse auction process to cut services costs by an average of 44.6%. These reverse auctions and their accompanying lower cost, more tailored services, improve EBITDA and can help firms increase their value. “We work with the client to determine which vendors they would like to invite to the client, verses inviting everyone and then we work to make sure the vendors are qualified to provide the services,” says Blake. The curated reverse auction than helps get the cost of the services, that are needed, to be lower. As this is a cost cutting project with external vendors, the saving s come without an internal head count reduction. The idea is to gain the services needed at a better price than may have previously been arranged or offered. “We touch on over 100 categories on IT and IT adjacent spend,” adds Wetzel. In this podcast, Wetzel walks us through the process, including a very thorough assessment, done for free. AIQ discovers what the contractual obligations are, looks at the way the firm is spending, looks at the operation of the firm, including mission critical services. AIQ holds reverse auctions every week and Is experienced in holding a competitive auction process that results in getting needed services delivered for less. Wetzel sees this as not only an inviting process for the enterprise readers, but also a channel opportunity. A channel can bring a cost savings story to a client without having to do the actual vendor development. All this is done while the channel retains their connection as the valued advisor- in this case the value advisor who saved the company, the client, on significant recurring costs. Connecting with athletes is hard. It is also extremely rewarding. In this week's episode we speak with Dr. Scott Goldman about an assessment tool called the AIQ. Dr. Goldman created this tool to help coaches learn how their athletes learn. In doing so, coaches can connect with and educate their athletes at a higher level.I took the assessment myself and it takes roughly 20-30 minutes to complete on an iPad. It was better than a standard multiple choice exam and had some fun parts. All in all if a team has the budget for it adding this tool can possibly help.____________________________________

The Measure Of A Man: How To Play To Your Strengths - Episode 13 w/ Dr. Scott Goldman My conversation with Dr. Goldman was very enlightening. Scott Goldman created a way to measure athletes based on 4 buckets and many professional teams tap him to find out how to better build their teams and ultilize them. In this episode I asked Scott about his AIQ and how it works. The biggest takeaways from our chat was that you can't predict or really measure human behavior. At its core the AIQ that Dr. Goldman and his partner created was designed to give you a better insight into a person and where they are strong and areas that they may be lacking to know how to best utilize and employ that player. Most importantly Dr. Goldman wanted people to know that no one thing can tell you everthing about a person that comes from a lot of introspection and support of a qualified assist. When leading a team at the top, where do you look to find an untapped edge? Mike Tannenbaum - a longtime NFL executive who led both the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins for more than a decade - found ways of quantifying toughness in talent that was already highly scrutinized in other ways. One of the key elements of that was the work of Scott Goldman, a performance psychologist who has worked with elite players and coaches at teams like the Golden State Warriors, and the founder of AIQ - a revolutionary way of testing athletic intelligence & executive function in high performing populations.

Hans Rosling gick i samma fotspår. Daidalos, 2018.

When we heard that school was shutting down for three weeks, the first words I heard out of one adolescent’s mouth were, "oh man this is an extended vacation, I can’t wait!” On the other hand, this afternoon I spoke with a an athlete who’s now looking at the rest of his senior year of baseball (that he was planning on using to help him decide on what college to go to) being completely up in the air & in jeopardy. He’s spent the last 48 hours playing every worst-case scenario over and over in his mind and it is causing him way more anxiety than catching the coronavirus that isn't necessarily a big threat to his age group. While I have no idea what the future holds, I know that spending the next weeks/months in a constant state of worry or anxiety is not only unhelpful, but also unhealthy. In an attempt to provide a useful tool for those who may need it, we are releasing a bonus podcast & giving free access to Phase 1 of our new online platform (AIQ). In this week's episode I welcome back Dr Scott Goldman. I asked Scott back on the show to speak about the Athletic Intelligence Quotient (AIQ) which he created together with Dr Jim Bowman when they both received training at the Albert Ellis Institute in New York. The AIQ is an intelligence test that assesses the innate cognitive abilities that are most utilised in attaining, developing, and applying athletic skills, strategies, and tactics. The AIQ has over 6000 professional elite athletes in its database covering all 5 major leagues in the US as well as Olympic training facilities and an English Premier League team. We take an in depth look into the AIQ, how it works and what the outcomes mean for individuals and teams.
