The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that overallemployment for Sports Psychologists is projected to grow by 7% from 2023 to2033, which is faster than the average for all occupations. On average, about13,000 job openings for psychologists are expected each year over the nextdecade. Many of these openings will stem from the need to replace workers whoare transferring to different occupations or exiting the labor force, such asthrough retirement. Sports psychologist Scott Goldman, PhD, consultingperformance psychologist for the Golden State Warriors, highlights that while elite athletes arevaluable performers, they are also human beings like anyone else. “I see myrole as a psychologist within a sports organization as being an embedded360-degree resource,” he explains, serving athletes, coaches, and front officemanagers who are responsible for talent evaluation and staff onboarding. Goldman was one of the first clinically trainedpsychologists to become an integral part of both college and professionalsports organizations. His early full-time positions at the NCAA level includedroles at the University of Arizona and the University of Michigan. He has alsoworked with professional teams such as the Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions, and has consulted for the Washington Wizards and Chicago Cubs. One of Goldman'skey achievements is the development of the Athletic Intelligence Quotient (AIQ)assessment tool, which measures the performance-specific cognitive traits thatcontribute to athletic success. He collaborated with James Bowman, PsyD, fromthe Albert Ellis Institute in New York City, on the AIQ for 15 years before itwas published in 2012. The test, described in a 2020 article in the New YorkTimes Magazine as “a comprehensive user's manual to an elite athlete's brain,”is utilized by the NCAA and various professional sports teams, as well asinternational clubs and first responder departments. Goldman's team defines intelligence as “the ability toacquire, process, and apply information.” Drawing from the Cattell-Horn-Carrolltheory of intelligence, Goldman and Bowman sought to define the cognitiveabilities that are most relevant in navigating the complex challenges ofsports: “We viewed sport as a constantly mutating puzzle and asked ourselves,‘What cognitive abilities are most impactful in solving that?'” Goldmanrecalls. Over the past decade, awareness of the importance ofprotecting athletes' mental health has significantly increased. Goldmancontributed to the 2013 National Athletic Trainers Association's consensusstatement on addressing psychological concerns among college athletes and waspart of the mental health task force that established "bestpractices" for the NCAA in 2016. In 2019, both the NBA and NFL beganrequiring teams to provide regular access to behavioral health clinicians attheir facilities, leading many NFL teams to hire psychologists for thispurpose. Goldman joined me this week to share more insights on these importantdevelopments. For more information: https://aiq.team/ Email: sgoldman@aiq.team LinkedIn: @ScottGoldmanPh.D

I'm delighted to welcome back licensed clinical psychologist and sport psychologist, Dr Scott Goldman in this episode. Scott started out at the University of Arizona where was one of the first embedded sport psychologists in an athletic department. He has since served as a clinical and performance psychologist for the University of Michigan and Saint Louis' Athletic Departments. Scott also helped co-author the best practices for the NCAA and was part of their first mental health task force. Scott has worked as sport psychologist for the Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions NFL teams and NBA teams Washington Wizards, and currently the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Vikings. Scott has also developed a test called the AIQ which measures sport-specific intelligence that is used across all 5 major leagues in the US as well as in other countries around the world. Scott shares his considerable knowledge with us on the topic of leadership and we take a deep dive into the different leadership styles.
Connecting with athletes is hard. It is also extremely rewarding. In this week's episode we speak with Dr. Scott Goldman about an assessment tool called the AIQ. Dr. Goldman created this tool to help coaches learn how their athletes learn. In doing so, coaches can connect with and educate their athletes at a higher level.I took the assessment myself and it takes roughly 20-30 minutes to complete on an iPad. It was better than a standard multiple choice exam and had some fun parts. All in all if a team has the budget for it adding this tool can possibly help.____________________________________

Three brilliant minds join us on this episode to talk about what made them decide Christian universalism makes the most sense compared to other theologies. They share their personal stories as well as Scriptures to explain why Hell cannot exist, everyone will be together with Jesus in the end, and what that means for our current life here on Earth. These three are Abby Cleckner, Scott Goldman, and Aree Spivey from Failed Kingdoms – the artist of our intro song. Find him on YouTube and Kindle Vella, among other platforms. God is love. God is just. God is infinitely merciful. God is not willing that any should perish. So, why do most Christians balk at the idea that God doesn't send people to eternal punishment or obliterate them after death? We've been trained in what the correct answers are and never to question what the pastor says. But have you ever even truly thought it through for yourself? The Measure Of A Man: How To Play To Your Strengths - Episode 13 w/ Dr. Scott Goldman My conversation with Dr. Goldman was very enlightening. Scott Goldman created a way to measure athletes based on 4 buckets and many professional teams tap him to find out how to better build their teams and ultilize them. In this episode I asked Scott about his AIQ and how it works. The biggest takeaways from our chat was that you can't predict or really measure human behavior. At its core the AIQ that Dr. Goldman and his partner created was designed to give you a better insight into a person and where they are strong and areas that they may be lacking to know how to best utilize and employ that player. Most importantly Dr. Goldman wanted people to know that no one thing can tell you everthing about a person that comes from a lot of introspection and support of a qualified assist. To find out more about Dr. Scott and his work got to : https://athleticintel.com You can connect with Dr. Goldman via: Twitter: https://twitter.com/ScottGoldmanPhD Thank you for listening to this awesome episode please let me know below what was your biggest takeway, and if you haven't already please subscribe.

Mike Tannenbaum - a longtime NFL executive who led both the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins for more than a decade - found ways of quantifying toughness in talent that was already highly scrutinized in other ways. One of the key elements of that was the work of Scott Goldman, a performance psychologist who has worked with elite players and coaches at teams like the Golden State Warriors, and the founder of AIQ - a revolutionary way of testing athletic intelligence & executive function in high performing populations.

What does it mean to be a Bad Roman, why is it a good thing for Christians? Craig talks to Scott Goldman about his article “Come Be a Bad Roman”. They discuss the Christian's entanglement with the state and address the issue of whether or not it is possible to simultaneously engage with the state and follow Christ. Nations, such as the United States, make claims of freedom for all and give mouth to ideals held by Christianity, but does a State really behave in such a manner? When we misconstrue a nation to be based on Christian values - when that State's involvement at home and abroad proves to be in stark contradiction to its claimed values we must turn away. As Christians we must decide: do we believe in the goal of peace at all cost, peace by might makes right, that the government justifies being their objective, or do we truly adhere to the teachings and challenge of Christ to love our neighbors and enemies? Join us as Craig and Scott take on these questions head-on and address reasons why Christians seem to ready to follow a man-made government whose functioning is in direct opposition to Christ's Kingdom. For our third round table, Jason Mock, Scott Goldman, Nathan Chavoya, and Nicholas Harrelson join Craig to share their opinions on two main ideas. The first question comes from a Facebook fan message and is on where our obedience to Christ lays, he asks if “sometimes to be Christian, it meant you had had to be a good Roman”? Secondly, the Round Table takes a look at mandating masks in addition to exploring where identity is derived when we come to understand the Gospel. Want to be a part of the next round table? Leave us a voice message of your question or comment and your question could be on the next Bad Roman Round Table. Do we need a government? Does Anarchy reject the biblical understanding of a fallen world? For our second round table, Craig, Abby Cleckner, Scott Goldman, and Jason Mock, discuss the misunderstanding of pacifism as a form of inaction. The conversation explores how the fallen nature of man is exactly what calls us to follow the eternal Kingdom of God versus the rise and fall of empires and governments of men. This round table challenges us to consider how we can meet violence not with inaction, but with creativity, with a radical love for our enemy. We are reminded in this episode that, God will take care of the evil, and what we are called to do and should focus on is growing the Good. Do you live out of love or do you liver out of fear? We challenge you to, in the face of conflict or violence, choose the power of radical love, that same love that we often forget God has for us and everyone we meet have met or ever will meet. Violence and force are the tools of man, love requires us to transcend ourselves and be more, we invite you to be creative in the face of conflict, of violence, we invite you to love. Want to be a part of the next round table? Leave us a voice message of your question or comment and your question could be on the next Bad Roman Round Table. While the COVID-19 data for Maryland are good in comparison with many other states, more than 3,000 people have died, and the pandemic is still having a profound impact on the lives and livelihoods of Marylanders. Even as Governor Hogan’s Stage Two re-opening plan allows businesses to resume limited operations, one of the pillars of the state’s economy – child care services for working parents – is in crisis. State-wide there are more than 8,000 child care programs licensed to care for over 213,000 children. A little under half of them have been closed since late March. The rest have been authorized by the state to care for the children of essential first-responders. According to a survey by the non-profit Maryland Family Network, just over half of all child care programs in the state say they may be forced to permanently close if families continue keeping their children home as a result of the pandemic. Two thirds of the state’s child care service providers reported significant financial losses due to the closures and reduced attendance. Today we're taking a look at the challenges facing child care providers and parents. Later this hour we’ll talk with the directors of two child care centers: Richard Huffman, the founder and CEO of Celebree Schools, which operates 26 locally-owned child care centers in Maryland and Delaware; and Beth Drummond Casey, the executive director of the Bolton Hill Nursery, an independent, non-profit child care center established in 1969. Tom also talks with Scott Goldman, a working Baltimore parent of three child-care-age children, and with Christina Peusch, the executive director of the Maryland State Child Care Association, a non-profit advocacy group that represents more than 4400 child care centers across the state, and which recently launched an online campaign called SaveMarylandChildCare.org. But Tom's first guest is Steve Rohde, the deputy director for Resource and Referral at Maryland Family Network, a private non-profit advocacy group that's been supporting quality child care, early education and Maryland families since 1945. Officials with the Maryland State Department of Education's Division of Early Childhood, which regulates child care service providers, were invited to join today's discussion, but were unable to schedule a representative. However, the MSDE's Office of Communications provided this statement addressing the issues raised in today's program: "The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) is very grateful to the service of our child care providers who continue to play a critical role in the State's overall pandemic recovery efforts. To date, MSDE has disbursed $87.2 million to child care providers as part of the Essential Personnel Child Care/ Essential Personnel School Age program. At the beginning of the pandemic, 29% of the 7,858 family and center-based child care programs were operating. Today more than 63% are reopened, with an average of 40-50 programs re-opening each day. Prior to Stage 1 of the Governor's Road to Recovery, group size was limited to 10 persons. "Now that we are in Stage 2, group capacity is expanded to 15. Family child care programs are now back to their licensed capacity, and Center-based programs ratios remain impacted for only 3 and 4 year-olds. MSDE continues to evaluate the health and safety guidance created with the Maryland Department of Health with the safety of children and staff as the priority. As we move forward, we continue to communicate and coordinate closely with the child care community, holding weekly listening sessions directly with providers, and incorporating stakeholder input into the child care recovery plan - Maryland Together: Maryland’s Recovery Plan for Child Care." -- MSDE Office of Communications _________________________________________________________ Additional Resources: MFN's recent report: Caring During Covid: The Impact of Pandemic on Maryland Child Care Providers MFN's LOCATE Child Care (Online or call: 1-866-357-3239)

Abby Cleckner, John Dangelo, Scott Goldman, and Jessica Green join Craig to discuss the topic: how would you respond to a Christian who believes the state is necessary to protect our liberties?
