This week, Eddie is fighting fatigue after returning from Kenya and is also tired from grappling with golfing demons. We hear where he is with his game, what's next for him and how he did at least manage to buy the friendship of wildlife. The three discuss the win for Brian Campbell on the PGA Tour, talk about one of the best swings in the game and hear from Europe's new Ryder Cup captain Anna Nordqvist. They also discuss drinking while playing golf, but decide that it is neither big nor clever. To sign up to Prostate Cancer UK's Big Golf Race, go to biggolfrace.prostatecanceruk.org Hosted on Acast. In this episode I was joined by Swedish LET title winner Lisa Pettersson as we found out about her preparation just before last week's first LET event in Rabat, Morocco. A lot of things have changed for Lisa having recently got married to her long term partner and recalls the unfortunate story of her now husband getting involved in a slight skiing accident causing a fractured elbow that required surgery just a couple of days before the wedding, thankfully everything worked out! Lisa is from Stockholm, Sweden currently residing in Solna just outside of Stockholm and won Most Outstanding Female Scholar Athlete at East Carolina University. Lisa turned Professional in 2018 and while admittedly struggling she managed to win Swedish Matchplay on Nordic Tour and would play on Symetra Tour now Epson Tour in 2019 and discusses States life. In 2020 I Civid year Lisa in Arizona would win on Cactus Tour Arizona & finished 2nd behind the legend Anna Nordqvist not long after. At Final Stage LET Q School in 2021 Lisa would finish 2nd to gain LET status for 2022 and would hold the clubhouse lead at Skaftö Open before narrowly missing out to Linn Grant. 2023 would be much better with a T6th at Aramco Team Series - Hong Kong before winning her home open in Helsingborg in June defeating Ana Pelaez Trivino by a shot to win her maiden title. At Dromoland in Ireland Lisa would get into a playoff at Irish Women's Open with Smilla Tarning Soenderby & Anne Van Dam before losing out to eventual winner Smilla Tarning Søenderby who had produce a worldie of a round to win. A nice episode was had with Lisa and I hope you enjoy! As always I ask if you could download, listen, rate and review via Podbean, Apple Podcasts & Spotify. Thanks for the continued support!

In the 3rd episode of The Caddy Series, it was a pleasure to be joined by LPGA Tour, Solheim & Ryder Cup pro caddy Jack Clarke as he phones from home in Florida after a busy 2024 season on the bag with the legendary Anna Nordqvist in a season which saw Jack on the bag for the Majors as well as being at Solheim Cup in Virginia (Anna's 9th) in an event that Jack and now wife Swedish star Madelene Sagström famously had their mini 'honeymoon' and actually got paired together in the same session as Anna/Madelene teamed up together! Jack kindly offers his advice on the expertise of being a Professional caddy! Jack was a fine player in his own right winning Amateur events and turned Professional at 18 years old where he would achieve a Challenge Tour Tour card in 2013/14 before a sad run of injuries hindered his player career and had to give it up at 27 years old! We learn about Jack's experiences as a player! In late 2017 Jack got a call from Gemma Dryburgh to perhaps caddy for Gemma on the LET in which he accepted and would go on to caddy for European Solheim Cup star Caroline Hedwall which included be on her bag at 2019 Solheim Cup at Gleneagles where Suzann Pettersen famously sunk the winning putt to beat the US. Jack has caddied in 3 Solheim Cups & 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome only losing the once which was this year's Solheim Cup at Robert Trent Jones. He would be on the bag at 2021 Solheim in Toledo for partner Madelene Sagström, be on the bag for the superstar Ludvig Aberg in Rome where Ludvig & Hovland famously defeated Koepka & Scheffler 9&7 and was on the bag with Anna Nordqvist this year. 2023 was a great year for Jack with getting the bag of the promising talent Ludvig Aberg and was able to share alongside 2023 Ryder Cup win also 2 individual wins together at Crans Montana for Omega European Masters and a stunning victory by Ludvig at RSM Classic on PGA Tour. We find out just what makes Ludvig Aberg so good! I had a great chat with Jack about all things Golf and he comes across as a really likeable guy while also being a well respected figure as a good caddy! I hope you enjoyed it! Reminder guys that the podcast is nominated in 2025 Sports Podcast Awards for Best Golf Podcast and I need the help of all you lovely people to help me try and cause a shock! In this episode I was pleased to be joined by an integral part of Team USA's success at last week's Solheim Cup the 2023 US Women's Open Champion Allisen Corpuz who phones in from Las Vegas, Nevada took talk about in her own words 'the surreal week' at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia for Solheim Cup that saw Allisen win 3 points out of 4 available including win both Morning Foursomes matches with close friend Nelly Korda & a statement victory over the vastly experienced Anna Nordqvist in the Sunday Singles. We talk everything from Barack Obama being in attendance to Allisen watching Lilia Vu clinch the Cup for the US with a brilliant approach at 18 vs Valenzuela to 2 feet to win. Allisen assesses life on Tour, her 2024 season which has been consistent including 9 Top 25s & a season best finish of T4th a couple of weeks back in Boston for FM Championship, we discuss the life changing week at Pebble Beach in 2023 for US Women's Open and Starting out as a LPGA Tour member in 2022 after finishing T16 in LPGA Q Series in 2021 to win her LPGA Card. Allisen was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii before enrolling at University of South California from 2016-2021 which included 2021 Curtis Cup win for US (went 3-0-0 that week), 2x Palmer Cup Participant in 2020 & 2021 as well as playing in 3x US Women's Opens as an Amateur while reaching a high of 7th in the World Amateur Rankings. In 2021 Allisen turned Professional and has never looked back since then having had 31 Top 25s since 2022 making 52/67 cuts since then. 2x Solheim Cup Participant for USA (Won 5 out of 8 Matches played) & in 2023 at Pebble Beach Allisen would defeat Charley Hull & Jiyai Shin by 3 shots to win US Women's Open which remains her sole LPGA Tour win. A hugely consistent and accurate player with a great game. Surely only a matter of time before Corpuz wins more titles. If you could listen in via Podbean, Spotify & Apple Podcasts that would be great. Appreciate the Support! Enjoy.

Today's episode is all about the Solheim Cup. We recap a great weekend of amazing competition, despite the USA coming up short to the European team 15-13. We rave about Inverness Club's set up of the course, the shotmaking brilliance under pressure, and the appropriate mix of exhibition/competition with the first tee DJ, Juli Inkster dancing, and players doing karaoke. We came away from the weekend really impressed with Brittany Altomare, Matilda Castren, and Leona Maguire as players who really came up big over the course of the event.Okay ... fine, we did talk about the Tour Championship for a brief minute, but only to bemoan the fact, yet again, that this was not really a playoff. And guess who the captain picks for the Ryder Cup will be and whether Brooks is healthy enough to play. Finally we wonder if the PGA Tour will stay out of their own way with the announcement of a "Drive to Survive" like show with Netflix over the coming year and who might be part of the 12 man roster they will work with.

The final putt had barely fallen, but we're here recapping Tony Finau's big win at the Northern Trust, defeating Cam Smith in the first playoff hole on Monday night. This is Finau's second PGA Tour victory, his first since the 2016 Puerto Rico Open. With the win, Finau launches into first place in the standings after the first leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. We also set the stage for who is out and who is in at the BMW Championship as well as who is on the bubble and needs a big week to get into the Tour Championship. Taking place across the pond, veteran Anna Nordqvist came out on top at the AIG Women's Open at historic Carnoustie Golf Links, taking home the final major on the 2021 calendar. The win was her 9th career LPGA Tour victory and 3rd major, which also ended her winless drought dating back to the 2017 Evian Championship. Last big headline of the week, the captains have made their picks and the teams are finalized for the upcoming Solheim Cup. We briefly run through the lineups for both Team USA and Team Europe, but check back next week for the full, in-depth preview of the event, which will take place Sep. 4-6 at Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio. It was 50/50, but the guys decided to return home from their trip to Bandon Dunes so despite it being a day later than normal, they're back in the studio! Things start with a recap of the last major of the calendar year, the AIG Women's Open Championship, where Carnoustie served up some "hard-to-watch" drama on the 18th (72nd) hole yet again, ensuring Sweden's Anna Nordqvist of her 3rd major championship! We had more playoff (PLAYOFFS?!?!) drama in the first leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs with Tony Finau finally (after 1,975 days) breaking the "Curse of Puerto Rico" and getting his 2nd PGA Tour victory at the Northern Trust! And while we're a still a few weeks away, the guys take a sneak peek at the current Ryder Cup standings and play "Steve Stricker for a Day" and make their selections for the team for next month's Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits. Lastly, the guys ever-so-softly "tease" the recap of their recent trip to Bandon Dunes with a special "bonus pod" coming soon that will break down the entire trip, highlights and low-lights, do's and don'ts, and what the guys would (will) do differently the next time! All that, and so much more on this week's YSO podcast!!!
In this episode the boys recap the busy week in golf including Big Tone's huge win at The Northern Trust for his first win since the 2016 Puerto Rico Open! Next, we cover the week at Carnoustie and the tremendous win by Anna Nordqvist, as well as the stunning leaderboard on the weekend, and the heartbreaking shank by Nanna Koerstz Madsen on the 72nd hole.. Lastly, we discuss for Vancouver Open and Steven Lecuyer's big win! All that and much more! Matt Adams recaps a wild weekend which saw a major champion crowned in Anna Nordqvist, a pile of PGA Tour cards earned and a brand new European Tour winner. Hear from everyone in the mix throughout the Tours. Plus, Round 4 of the Northern Trust is scheduled to begin today after delays from Hurricane Henri.
This Monday episode begins with a tale from the road, as a family vacation gets off to a rough start. Then it's on to the Women's Open at Carnoustie, which closed the books on the majors for 2021. Andy and Brendan react to Anna Nordqvist getting it done despite being unable to chip, Nanna Koerstz Madsen booting it away on the 18th hole, some invasive Playing Through choices, Louise Duncan's contention, and the Salas slow play. The Northern Trust discussion moves to the updating of the rules to allow for a Tuesday finish, the tough break in the schedule, the grounds crew efforts to get it playable for Monday, and the SubAir usage throughout the week. Similar to the Women's Open, the 18th hole became a scene of catastrophe in Boise on the KFT, where Greyson Sigg used a drop from a backboard to make par and edge an imploding Aaron Rai. The Ferryman gets it done at the Czech Masters and the bomber jacket Rod Pampling got for winning on the Champions Tour is worth googling.

BJ and Paul aren't really at the PGA TOUR Superstore, but they can still riff on life changes without golf, impacts of fewer events on the FedEx Cup and two-time major winner Anna Nordqvist playing and winning on the Cactus Tour.
This week's episode is a special edition from the Solheim Cup in Scotland. Every two years, Europe’s top female players take on the United States, turning the usually singular sport of golf into a thrilling, cut-and-thrust team event, similar to the Ryder Cup. Clare McDonnell went to the Gleneagles course to hear from star European golfers Anna Nordqvist and Caroline Masson as well as the American world number three, Lexi Thompson. What do the players think about how such a high profile women’s event could help drive take-up of the game? She also speaks to fans who are going that extra mile for their team. The Fired Up Sport podcast is in association with Sport England and This Girl Can. Come with us and #ChangeTheConversation.
In this special we invited Kevin McAlpine, an ex Scottish Amateur and Scottish Strokeplay Champion onto the pod. Kevin is now engaged to long time European Solheim Cup player and two time women's major champion, Anna Nordqvist and talks openly about his life on tour and his goals for the future. Musik:www.stockmusic.netArtist: ZinnermanMusic: Flow

Holly G along with co host Kevin Sternett, assistant pro at Golden Bear Club at Keene's Point and Will Perry, creative director at EVVUS and social media ace for The Golf Insiders, are in the studio on the eve of the 145th Open Championship in Royal Troon, Scotland. The Golf United Charity Scramble for Pulse Orlando web site is live. Visit golfunited.org to find out how you can help. Holly talks with the guys about the U.S. Women's Open Championship that ended once again in a rules infraction. With Anna Nordqvist being penalized for unknowingly moving a grain of sand in the bunker on the second hole of a 3-hole aggregate playoff. Holly G talks with Kevin and Will about the 20 professional golfers who have opted out of playing golf in the 2016 Rio Olympics with the latest American being Jordan Spieth. The sport is only slated to play in this Olympics and the 2020 Olympics after not being part of the games for more than 100 years. Another headline was that Rory McIlroy speaking out about drug testing for golfers in the Olympics being basically a joke. Holly welcomes Jeff Babineau, Golfweek, from Scotland to the show to talk about the Open Championship and Rory's comments. Justin Rose is that golf is skipping Rio and not the Olympics. Jeff said that you really can't blame any of the participants since you can't guarantee someone's health in Rio you can't blame them for not participating. Jeff stressed that it's not just the Zika virus, but the Tour schedule as well as security concerns that have all factored into the player's decisions. Plus for Tour players this might only be the 5th or 6th most important event this season with the Major Championships. Those don't exist in other sports so golfers don't grow up dreaming of playing in the Olympics as they might in the other sports where no major trophy or goal exists. Jeff had a chance to walk the course with Matt Kuchar today who now is the fourth member of the U.S. Olympic team. Matt, a 38-year-old is excited about the Olympics and a possibility of a gold medal. Holly talks with Jeff about the course at Royal Troon and how it sets up for the golfers competing in the Open Championship that starts tomorrow. The wind and the weather will be factors as it is always at Royal Troon as well as the creativity coming from the pot bunkers. Jeff feels the course that solid ball strikers should be favored on this course and golfers who like to fight and hang in there for 4 days. Luck and the player's draw also factor into who will win. Adam Scott is Jeff's pick. Todd Lewis, the Golf Channel, the course is green and looks good. Probably low scores on Thursday but maybe not Friday with the poor weather that's on the forecast. Holly talks with Todd about the course's pot bunkers and the creativity that may come from the players as they try to escape with an up and down over the next four days, especially at the postage stamp 8th hole. Todd says that it's a wedge shot of about 120-130 yards. Todd says there may be some train wrecks on the hole and will be a fun hole to watch. Holly asks Todd about Rory's comments about the Olympics ... Todd agrees with Brandel Chamblee's comments that Rory could have said it a little more eloquently instead of how he said it which seemed like a slap in the face to those who worked tirelessly to get golf back into the Olympics. Also Rory's comments about it not being his responsibility to grow the game of golf. It seemed odd since Rory is totally the opposite when it comes to helping children get into golf and his charities that help others. Todd thinks that it might be a difficult for Rory with all this extra stuff in the media. Todd says that it's just the ninth time that Royal Troon has hosted the Open Championship and the last time was 2004 so a lot of the players aren't familiar with it. Guys who have good form now and those who like links golf courses. Like Dustin Johnson and Zach Johnson, Scott Piercy or even Patrick Reed who finished second at the Scottish Open last week. Another player who may do well this week is Danny Lee who was a former European Tour member. This is the Golf Channel's first time covering a major. Jason Day is Todd's pick to win. Steve Eubanks, The Global Golf Post, calls in the final segment of the show to talk about the U.S. Women's Open Championship and the USGA's handling of the ruling on Anna Nordqvist. He said it clearly was a penalty but it's how they handled the penalty. As far as the Open Championship, Steve's pick is Jordan Spieth. Kevin picks Justin Rose and Gary Woodland, Will takes DJ and Holly takes Sergio and Jason Day. Holly's dark horse is Danny Willett.

Todd Lewis, the Golf Channel, calls in to wrap up the Memorial won by Will McGirt. Todd talks about Will playing at Wofford College and being on the tour for a long time and was eventually able to win. Todd said that Will had not played well at Jack's place before. He beat a stout field and some great golfers chasing him down. Todd spoke with Rory McIlroy Monday night. Rory said he was in his jet on the tarmac in Ohio ready to leave after he was in the clubhouse with a 13-under par, was ready to leave but waited about 90 minutes before he flew off ... he left when someone posted a better score. Holly and Todd talk about Rickie Fowler who has not played well for the past several events and is trying to make the Olympic team as well as heading into the heart of the PGA season. Todd and Holly talk about Dustin Johnson as well as Matt Kuchar and Phil Mickelson's play of late. Todd mentions that the Golf Channel is covering the first two rounds of the U.S. Open, They will be on the grounds broadcasting Monday. On Wednesday The Golf Channel is showing an in-depth interview with Rory McIlroy on the 5 year anniversary of his win at the U.S. Open Vartan Kupelian, long time writer for Detroit News and writer for the Champions Tour, calls in from the Senior Players Championship to talk about the Champions Tour' next major Championship which is in Philadelphia. Vartan shares that the Champions Tour plays all of these great historic courses that some of the other tours do not play on and he is so grateful that he gets to cover the events. Holly asks Vartan about the Champions Tour players like Colin Montgomerie, Bernhard Langer, and others who are so successful. Vartan comments that these guys all work their tails off and always have. He also said that some of them are so much better than 20 years ago when they played on the PGA Tour now that they have the growth and have less pressures than before when they were trying to have a career and support their families. Holly asks Vartan about Rocco Mediate's recent win. Vartan says it's always a pleasure to interview someone like Rocco. When you are done and look over your notes you can write about 9 different stories. Steve Eubanks, Global Golf Post calls in from the Seattle Washington area, the site of the second LPGA major of the season to talk with Holly and Will. Steve said that this is one of the most narrowest golf courses that he has ever seen. It's littered with pine trees. It's beautiful but tighter than a bowling alley and going to be a shot makers paradise this week. Anna Nordqvist won the latest event on the LPGA defending her ShopRite LPG Championship title. Holly asks Steve about who are the favorites to win this week. Players like Lydia Ko and Ariya Jutanugarn. Steve says that Ariya is playing on another level right now and likens what she can do on the golf course to how Tiger used to be making shots that others couldn't even dream of making. Holly and Steve talk about Inbee Park looking to win her fourth consecutive Women's PGA Championship title, a feat no one has accomplished. Steve said that unfortunately Inbee's thumb injury will probably prevent her from doing that. The trio also talk about Inbee being eligible for the Hall of Fame at the ripe age of 27 after she completes one round this week. She will have met the requirements. Brentley Romine, Golfweek, calls in to wrap up the show. Brentley talks to Holly and Will about the Oregon Ducks winning the individual and team titles. Oregon beat Texas in extra holes 3-2 to win. People were counting out Texas without Beau Hossler, who missed his final match after suffering a shoulder injury the day before. Will asks about home field advantage. Brentley talks about the advantages and disadvantages of playing in front of home fans. Holly asks Brentley about a possible rules change letting substitutions play for injured players. He said that it will be something that will probably happen in the near future. A substitution would have helped out Texas who lost Hossler and Oregon had a player who was sick. Brentley talks about some of the women and men who are going to come out of college and turn pro now that the college season has ended.
On the show this week, Barry & Will look back at a busy week in golf for Ireland with The Dubai Duty Free Irish Open hosted by the Rory Foundation taking place in Royal County Down. We address a tricky rules question and talk about some of the things that have worked for our golf games over the years and Barry visited ForeGolf to get fitted for some new woods. We review the events from last week on the main Tours. On The LPGA Tour The ShopRite LPGA Classic was won by Anna Nordqvist, Steven Bowditch was a class above the rest winning The AT&T Byron Nelson by 4 shots on the PGA Tour and on The European Tour The Irish Open was won on the 1st playoff hole by Soren Kjeldsen after a remarkable and dramatic week on the stunning links. To wrap things up, we look ahead to next week with events on The LPGA Tour with the ManuLife LPGA Classic, The European Tour flies north to Sweden for The Nordea Masters and The PGA Tour is hosted by Jack Nicklaus at Muirfield Golf Club for the Memorial Tournament.
