Message for 04/27/2025 "The Joy of Being Different" by Heath Arthur. *All verses are NLT unless otherwise noted* Philippians 2:12-18 Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. 13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. 14 Do everything without complaining and arguing, 15 so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. 16 Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ's return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless. 17 But I will rejoice even if I lose my life, pouring it out like a liquid offering to God, just like your faithful service is an offering to God. And I want all of you to share that joy. 18 Yes, you should rejoice, and I will share your joy. John 8:1 - 10 Jesus returned to the Mount of Olives, 2 but early the next morning he was back again at the Temple. A crowd soon gathered, and he sat down and taught them. 3 As he was speaking, the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in the act of adultery. They put her in front of the crowd. 4 “Teacher,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?” 6 They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger. 7 They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” 8 Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust. 9 When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman. 10 Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, “Where are your accusers? Didn't even one of them condemn you?” Romans 12:2 Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
What if the key to better relationships starts with how you treat yourself? In this soul-stirring episode, Wendy sits down with the brilliant Monica Berg—international speaker, Kabbalistic teacher, and author of Rethink Love, Fear is Not an Option, and The Gift of Being Different—to dive into the transformational concept of self-parenting. From healing childhood wounds to challenging limiting beliefs, Monica shares her personal journey of overcoming anorexia, perfectionism, and shame to become a “change junkie” who now helps others reclaim their inner light. Together, Wendy and Monica explore how to distinguish compromise from sacrifice, why purpose isn't always a job title, and how taking radical responsibility can lead to spiritual freedom. Plus, you'll learn why sharing love might just be the most selfish (and soul-fueling) thing you can do.
Empathy is one of the most powerful skills we can teach our children — but it can feel like such a big, important topic. You might wonder, "Where do we start?" In today's fast-paced, often self-focused world, raising empathetic kids takes intention, awareness, and ongoing conversation. It's something that I find incredibly important, so that's why in this episode of Chick Chat, I sit down with Monica Berg to explore how parents can begin introducing and nurturing empathy in their children from a young age. Monica shares her wisdom on age-appropriate strategies, the impact empathy has on relationships, and how to model it through our own daily actions. Who is Monica Berg? Monica Berg is an international speaker, spiritual thought leader, bestselling author (Fear is Not an Option, Rethink Love, and The Gift of Being Different), and co-host of the Spiritually Hungry podcast. A self-proclaimed “Change Junkie,” Monica is a fresh voice that channels her many years of kabbalistic study along with personal life experiences. Monica shows individuals how to create a life that not only feels like it's working but, most importantly, a life in which they are living and loving as the powerful, fulfilled person they've always wanted to be. What Did We Discuss? In this episode, I chat with Monica about empathy in children, why it's important, and when to introduce the concept. Here are several of the questions that we covered in our conversation: How did you become passionate about spirituality? How would you define empathy? How should we talk about empathy and introduce the concept of it to our children? Are there age-appropriate strategies that you recommend? How can developing empathy at a young age influence a child's future relationships and social interactions? How can parents create a safe space for children to express their emotions and develop empathy? What are some strategies parents can use at home to encourage their children to talk about their feelings? How should parents approach the topic of empathy with children who may struggle to understand others' feelings? What long-term benefits do you see in children who grow up with a strong sense of empathy? What's one piece of advice you would offer to parents who are ready to teach their child(ren) about empathy? As you know, teaching empathy isn't a one-time conversation. It's a lifelong practice that starts at home. And, as Monica reminded us, creating a safe, emotionally rich environment where children feel seen and heard is key to helping them grow into compassionate, self-aware adults. Whether your child is a toddler just beginning to understand feelings or a tween navigating friendships, it's never too early — or too late — to nurture empathy in our children. I hope this episode inspires you to lead with love, listen more deeply, and model the kind of empathy we all want to see more of in the world. How good are you at telling the difference between a fling and the real thing? In this episode of This Is Woman's Work, we're diving deep into relationship red flags and how to spot them early to avoid future heartache. Our guest, Monica Berg, author of Fear Is Not an Option, Rethink Love, and The Gift of Being Different, brings her unique insights to the conversation. Monica co-hosts the Spiritually Hungry Podcast and serves as Co-Director & Chief Communications Officer for Kabbalah Centre International. Known for her authenticity and fearless approach, she encourages us to recognize our extraordinary potential while navigating the complexities of relationships with compassion and clarity. Let's be honest: even the best relationships have rough patches. They require courage, honesty, and a lot of self-awareness. The key is paying attention to what people show you consistently—it's usually more telling than what they say. Ignoring red flags only invites future heartache. The relationships we choose, whether romantic or platonic, are powerful reflections of the life we're building. If your relationship is one where both people are winning, keep putting in the work, keep communicating, and keep choosing each other. And if it's not? You know what needs to be done—move on. David Ogilvy and Mani Iyer helped Sridhar see his perceived weaknesses as strengths. Brand building requires holistic orchestration across all touchpoints. I'm thrilled to bring you this episode of Being Different with a very special guest, Congressman Tim Burchett from Tennessee's 2nd District. I've been tuning in to Tim's podcast, Tennesee Talks, and honestly felt like I knew him before we even met. His straightforwardness and willingness to call out corruption in Washington really struck a chord with me.Tim opens up about his upbringing and the formative experiences that shaped his perspective on politics and ethics. We dive deep into the rampant corruption and lack of accountability plaguing our nation's capital, topics he's not afraid to confront head-on. From voter suppression to fiscal responsibility (or the lack thereof), Tim doesn't hold back, and neither do I.Stick around after our chat to hear my take on where we go from here. Trust me, it's a discussion you won't want to miss. - - - - - - - - - - -Liz Durham Instagram | WebsiteSubscribe Apple Podcast | SpotifyBeing Different with Liz Durham is a Palm Tree Pod Co. production

Building successful businesses often starts with finding one problem and creating a micro solution.Passive income requires initial work and ongoing management, but it can provide recurring revenue over time.Authenticity and storytelling are powerful tools for building a brand and connecting with an audience.Being different and relatable can make you stand out and attract a loyal following. The riches are in the niches - focusing on a specific niche can lead to success and a dedicated community.Passive income is not truly passive and requires ongoing effort and attention.Being different is often more valuable than being better, as it allows you to connect with a specific audience.Building super fans involves creating a sense of community and facilitating connections among like-minded individuals. Building a community can provide ongoing value and support for both the business and its members. When finding a niche, start with something you have an interest or involvement in to ensure fulfillment and long-term success. The 'one-one-one' strategy involves finding one target market, one person, and one problem to solve, which can lead to successful businesses.Direct contact with customers allows for a better understanding of their needs and roadblocks, leading to more effective solutions.Personal branding is a powerful tool in building a business and connecting with an audience.Involving family in business can create a sense of purpose and provide opportunities for growth and learning.00:00 Introduction and Background02:49 Building Micro Solutions09:33 Creating a Business and Life with Passive Income19:42 The Riches in the Niches22:30 The Myth of Passive Income23:55 Being Different and Relatable24:47 Building Super Fans and Facilitating Connections25:16 Leaning into Community26:44 Finding Obscure Niches28:11 The One-One-One Strategy29:10 Starting Small to Go Big30:06 Learning from Direct Contact31:03 Building Confidence and Business32:33 The Power of Personal Branding33:26 Consumer Research and Focus Groups34:25 The Importance of Targeting and Communication35:23 Talking to Real People36:21 Involving Family in Business37:48 Raising a Brand: Leveraging Personal Branding for Children39:45 Coaching and Asking Questions41:08 Leveraging Kids' Skills and Talents45:29 Daily Routines and PracticesTo know more about Pat Flynn, follow him on Instagram @patflynn or his website https://patflynn.com/. In this episode, Brooke and Noa share eight things we can do to enhance children's innate wonder of life and how not to get stuck in the parent-child labeling. 1. Allow them to teach us. Our children are closer to the non-physical world; they have come from the non-physical into the physical. Spirituality teaches us that our soul chooses our parents and family before coming to this world. We make this choice because our family is comprised of the perfect souls to teach us the lessons we need to learn so that we can become the person we are meant to be2. Kids who feel secure are the ones that feel the most free to play. Allow them to be innately who they are, not who we think they should be. 3. Fostering an environment where they don't seek the approval of others. Children are free of judgment - and then, ultimately, they "learn" to look for the approval of others. 4. Connection to Source - Kids are more intuitive, and as such, they feel things we may not. Listen to that intuition when they do not want to hug someone; it's valid.5. Stop defending their behavior: they usually express our own internal feelings.6. Natural Expression of Feelings - help them translate their feelings into words without going into frustration and anger. Check-in with yourself first.7. Children's brains are like sponges, and in their theta brain wave, they Tare in super learning Innately connected state. Allow them to go into their creative mode. 8. Sibling rivalry - spiritual traditions teach us that children choose their siblings and must learn from each other. Look at it from a more spiritual lens- how can I be their guide and facilitate what's going on rather than correct their behavior?Resources:1. Spirituality for Kids: (SFK) - a non-profit educational organization dedicated to bringing universal spiritual social-emotional learning tools to as many children and parents as possible worldwide. https://sfk.org/2. Perhaps your child's (including your inner child) was not flawed or imperfect - but instead, their differences are part of your child's superpowers. "The Gift of Being Different" is co-written by Monica and her 9-year-old daughter Abigail. Abigail's dyslexia diagnosis inspired the two to explore the unique perspectives of children who do not learn in a typical fashion and embrace the strengths they are gifted with. In this episode, Monica talks about the experience of celebrating her daughter's unique lens, how this diagnosis has empowered her daughter instead of hindering her in school and life, and the value of teaching all children the different ways children learn to prevent bullying and elevate children's compassion and understanding. I also reveal why this children's book was very personal and healing for my inner child and why I think all children would benefit from reading it and learning from Abigail's gift.
