He got into why rock rap hasn't aged well, Ma Dukes giving him a custom painting of her son J Dilla, and getting a major movie placement. He also spoke about Ghostface Killah reposting him, going to lunch with Bizarre of D12, and why Hip-Hop legends are cast aside compared to legends in other genres. Stay tuned! Today I talk to my new friend Miles Lindsey, aka idski / Intricate Dialect about his creative process and his new album KV55. It's a rich conversation! Find his album here: https://intricatedialect.bandcamp.com/ https://audius.co/intricatedialect More about idski: There is a simple formula idski aka Intricate Dialect is using on his new album, just loops and rhymes...and no features. Within that simple formula, though, there is a wealth of spiritual wisdom and storytelling. idski has been on the Detroit Hip Hop scene for quite some time but has not yet bubbled too much out of the beaker. He keeps a relatively low profile and makes songs that people who are well read or grew up amongst ancient Egypt enthusiasts, 5 percenters, or practice occult science would appreciate. For instance, in 2011 Intricate Dialect made an album, Kemet, in which the entire project was focused on ancient Egypt but mixed in references to Detroit and the Hip Hop community. In 2016, idski started a creative storytelling podcast called The ‘Lum Podcast. This allowed him to widen his scope of storytelling, poetry, and production to networks outside of a Hip Hop format. Collaborating with artists like Shigeto, Marcus Elliot, Jah Connery, and close friend Timo 1-2. In 2021, the album KV55 has sprinkles of ancient Egyptian mythos but primarily focuses on stories of personal growth, society at large, our confusing place in it, and spirituality.

This weeks' guests Cardo and Payroll Giovanni have been making dope music for a few years now and it doesn't sound like they are slowing down anytime soon. Here we talk with them about how they met, their chemistry and how they've been able to mesh their individual styles together so seamlessly. 1:00 - Cardo is originally from Minnesota and moved to DFW. Payroll is from Detroit. So, we had to ask how these two even met and started making music. Ironically, their incredible chemistry was from working together in Atlanta on a halted super group album with Jeezy and YG. Cardo and Payroll remind a lot of listeners of the Bay Area's "mob music" sound. They both speak on how the style influences their music. 10:00 - Payroll and Cardo talk about how their chemistry hasn't been impacted too severely by not being able to work together in the studio during COVID. They reveal how even though email has become their primary mode of communication, the magic is still there. 15:15 - Payroll will be starring in a film about Detroit icons Chedda Boyz. He clarifies that the film he is in focusing on the street crew, not the rap iteration that many are familiar with. 17:20 - Detroit Hip-Hop is starting to be recognized to the point that other regions are actually starting to borrow some of their slang, style and fashion. Payroll speaks on how crazy it is to see it happening. 19:40 - Cardo explains the origins of 2020's Game Related album that featured Payroll, Larry June and Kid HBK. While it was well-received by fans, the album happened to drop the same day as Kobe Bryant's death and days before the world stopped because of COVID. 23:00 - Cardo has produced megahits for the likes of Drake and Travis Scott, but he has also created cult classics with people like Payroll, Curren$y and others. Here we ask him if he ever tries to get artists on their level to rap on some of his more "underground" type beats. 28:15 - Payroll speaks on his upcoming tour with Oakland rapper Philthy Rich and how it feels going back on the road as things are opening back up. We also get them to speak on new music they are working on. Battle rapping, making music, the KOTD GP, battling Marv Won in the semifinals, Dizaster vs. Saynt, thoughts on battle rap judges, relationship with Gully, pulling out 50 Grand in a battle...of course the hosts talked to Times about all that, but his businesses, calculated financial movements, in-house hustle, cost of making music, revisiting what “8 Mile” did for Detroit, Proof for Mayor, Quest MCody giving him a shot, and things such as having a traveling stylist (yes, you read that correctly), led to a conversation that proved Times is about, well, almost everything. You can watch Times vs. Marv Won, as well as Saynt vs. Dizaster in the King of the Dot Grand Prix semifinals, on Dec. 13, live and free on Twitch at 3PM ET/12PM PT. For this episode, your host Kelly “K-Fresh” Frazier is joined by designer, photographer, illustrator, film director, fashion designer, Mario “Khalif” Butterfield to talk about the branding and marketing history behind Detroit hip-hop. We get into how he first found himself in the Detroit hip-hop scene as a designer and photographer, who he met, what he learned, and how he networked throughout the city. Once he got comfortable in his skills, he was able to help improve the visual aspects of Detroit hip-hop starting in the mid 90s advocating that the full product package is important for a music artist. Mario Butterfield has designed a vast amount of album covers for Detroit hip-hop artist under his own name and under the skinnyboysgrafix company that he started with Waajeed. You’ve probably seen his work (many examples below). He shared a lot of lessons he’s learned about design and photography, and how it was implemented into many of the Detroit classic hip-hop albums we all love. So many great stories told in this album because Mario Butterfield was always around and observed a lot, so we get a historical take of Detroit from another perspective. Episode Notes University of Michigan Ann-Arbor has a class that covers Hip-hop. It’s 2018 and people like Dr. Stephen Ward have moved the culture forward enough where the knowledge of Hip-hop is earning accredited college degrees. This semester I (Khary Frazier), Sterling Toles (Hip-hop Producer of Boldy James & more), and Buff1 (of Athletic Mic League & The Black Opera) all held an open discussion on the History of Detroit Hip-hop. The discussion is captured here. We talked World One Records (too much love to Butch Smalls), J Dilla, Payroll, Peezy, and Bogg Brown. It was a colorful back and forth, where we discussed the Bay’s (Oakland CA) relationship to Detroit as well. STREAM or DOWNLOAD On this episode of Conspiracy Worldwide Radio, Mista Montana and Menace do this: Harry Fraud returns to discuss his and Eddie B's latest release "Paper, Piff & Polo" as well as his upcoming projects respectively. Perceptive and equally engaging, we explore Paper, Piff & Polo's creation and Eddie B's logical approach in the lab, working with Riff Raff, the criticism behind "Saaab Stories" artwork, Action Bronson's official debut, which will also feature production from Alchemist, Party Supplies and Statik Selektah among others, his forthcoming "Mac & Cheese 4" mixtape with French Montana, new music with Freddie Gibbs and Problem , plans to showcase his range outside of Hip Hop and much more in a genuinely wavey interview. Mr. Muthafu*kin' eXquire takes time out after his BET back room freestyle and grants us access to his first interview in months! We talk recording "Kismet" , his process of removing his brain from his creative process and speaking from the heart, his relationship today with Universal Records, "Lost In Translation" being his angry album, his ritual in which he plays every new song he records on the train and more in a brief but sweet interview. Fresh off the heels of Czarface with 7L and Inspectah Deck, we are joined by Boston Pharaoh Esoteric to discuss his upcoming canvases, which as of the 22nd November will include his latest, namely, “Machete Mode” with Stu-Bangas. We also discuss the upcoming yet to be titled Czarface album, which he reveals he and Deck have completed 10 tracks for so far, a brand new action figure coinciding with its release, Wu Tang's highly anticipated "A Better Tomorrow", the new AOTP album, which he says will be produced by C-Lance, Leafdog, Molemen’s Panik, Stu Bangas among others, his love of sampling, Apathy and Ryu being Freemasons and more! Snowgoons are with us in the form of Illegal to discuss the eagerly awaited sequel to "Black Snow" and the forthcoming Snowgoons album with Onyx entitled "Cuzzo". We also talk the making behind tracks "The Underworld", "Iron Bars", the future of Goon MuSick, forthcoming records with Saigon and R.A The Rugged Man and so much more. We also premiere tracks from the album and discect the story some key features such as Raekwon and Papoose. (DJ) House Shoes joins us from Denmark Vessey and Scud One's "Cult Classic" release party for an update on his label Street Corner's upcoming releases and everything in between. We talk the misconception of him just being "that Dilla guy", how he received the label 'ambassador of Detroit Hip Hop', not making a beat for 2 and a half years, the passing of Proof, Danny Brown's recent Boiler House record release party for "Old", the J Dilla estate and upcoming music in the form of a secret project, a reissue of Danny Brown's "Hot Soup" on vinyl, a collaborative project with Big Tone entitled "Big Shoes", a J Dilla album and much more. Pay attention. Do we believe that religion revolves around us or do we believe that we revolve around religion? These are but 2 questions that Denmark Vessey wants you to question with his and producer Scud One's debut album, “Cult Classic”. Is this an album that stands out as one of this years most ambitious and multi layered releases? Have this emcee and producer partnership created an album that is thoughtful as well as political in its content without sounding unusual and detached from the street? No question. However we had many more questions to ask in an interview with two of Hip Hops recent saviours. Peep it. Detroit favourite Guilty Simpson is with us to explore his consistent output of quality releases lately and discuss his new found passion in producing. He also delivers us an update on the forthcoming Random Axe project, explains Black Milk's process as a producers in making dummy beats, details how his and Small Professor's collaboration with Boldy James for I'm The City manifested itself and more! A pleasure. AND THAT'S NOT ALL! Mista Montana and Menace risk life and limb as they tackle the growing British terror threat posed by clowns that appear in the dark, neon-lit streets and scare innocent people and animals without remorse. What starts as a humble radio broadcast, soon turns to a fight for survival as Hip Hop's most cherished radio duo become surrounded and have to resort to physical running to escape. Nobody wins.
