In today's episode, I have the privilege of speaking with John Croft, the visionary creator of the Dragon Dreaming method. With decades of experience in helping people to successfully undertake various projects, John has developed a powerful framework for turning dreams into reality by harnessing the collective wisdom of people. His method, influenced by native Australian (Aboriginal) cultures, emphasizes four key stages – dreaming, planning, doing and celebrating – each of them essential for any successful team project. During our conversation, I was struck by John's warmth and his immense life wisdom. He is not just intellectually sharp, but truly empathetic in sensing people's desires and helping them reach their full potential. His sense of compassion and his strong desire to make people's lives better shines through in every word. In our conversation, we explore how Dragon Dreaming transforms conflict into creativity, how personal growth, community building and having a larger mission are integral to any meaningful project. We dive deep into the dynamics of team collaboration, the role of collective intelligence and how to “dance with your fears” to push the boundaries of what is possible. And how celebrating success is crucial to avoid burnout. “To make your dream come true, you need a team that has all four kinds of people – the dreamers, planners, doers and celebrators. But if you have a team with all four kinds, you are going to have a lot of conflict. The secret then is how you convert that conflict into creativity – and if you can do that, that's the source of Dragon Dreaming.” – John Croft If you are curious about how to bring your dreams to life while fostering creativity and collaboration, this is an episode you won't want to miss! Listen and enjoy!

In this episode, Cynthia emphasizes that her work is about change and coaching teams. When trying to change people, she warns that it is important to be careful and to tell a relevant story that answers the question of "what's in it for me?" She shares a story that highlights the need to consider different approaches for different contexts, and she advises paying attention to early adopters and change champions while avoiding the anti-pattern of not invented here syndrome (NIH). Instead, one should make the change “native” by finding someone who is already convinced on Agile adoption to help with the change by explaining why they think Agile is important for them. Cynthia also reminds us that change takes time, and there is a cost to change in terms of time. Therefore, department leads need to be aware of that cost. She advises listening to those who ask a lot of questions since they might become the best change supporters. She recommends the Dragon Dreaming methodology as a resource. Finally, she suggests learning from the people who resist change by listening to what they say and ask about. [IMAGE HERE] As Scrum Master we work with change continuously! A regular at East Coast festivals including Vyoma, Lovefest, Unity and Burning Seed, Konedawg has also thrown renegade sets at some of Australia's biggest parties including Earth Frequency, Dragon Dreaming, Rainbow Serpent and Rabbits Eat Lettuce. He and his partner Kat also run their own club night; 'Juicy', in Sydney's Inner West. Konedawg was immediately drawn to the Digital Diamonds sound. We are joined in this episode by Virgílo Varela, a consultant in Social and Community Innovation that talked to us about one of his main skills and passion: Dragon Dreaming. Dragon Dreaming is a systemic design process, a philosophy and a methodological framework, to create collaborative and sustainable projects, something that a lot of youth workers struggle with. For some, it's difficult to have everyone dreaming in the same direction, and for others it's hard to make the projects sustainable. Many times, both. The process is composed of four steps: Dreaming, Planning, Doing and Celebrating. We talked about the importance of celebration: if we don't celebrate, our energy and motivation starts to get depleted, and we lose heart, we fall out of love, we start doing, for the sake of doing, and the output is much less creative, energizing, and innovative that could be otherwise, if we would make celebration as much as a priority as doing, or planning. It was a really a wonderful conversation, hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Give us your feedback to the email talkingyouthworkpodcast@gmail.com http://www.dragondreaming.org/

This week we had local Swerve favourite somersault in for the subsonic take over. The man him self has come through a few times now and needs little introduction. We had a good chat about what he has coming up, what he is gonna be wearing and some other banter. Here is a bit of info Somersault’s music is uncompromising. Heavily influenced by the shuffling rhythms of dark UK garage, atmospheric techno and deep melodic house, Somersault likes to straddle the line between the delirious highs and murky lows, a sound that’s brought his unique sets to outdoor festivals and underground clubs. The young producer has come a long way from working as a funk guitarist to producing music played on international festival stages by Jon Convex. While his initial entry into electronic music was with electronica duo This Mess, Somersault came into being while travelling through Europe and immersing in the rich club culture in 2014. He is however, no newcomer to dance music having played at major Australian festivals Rabbits Eat Lettuce, Dragon Dreaming and Burning Seed as well as at major Sydney club nights S.A.S.H, Something Else, Blueprint, Foxlife and Cakes supporting PleasureKraft, Pepperpot, Simon Caldwell, Made In Paris, Politics of Dancing and Robbie Lowe. Somersault's eagerly awaited Stampede EP is soon to be released on Upon Access, Sydney’s groundbreaking new label curated by Techno Heavyweight Made In Paris. The EP has been causing a stir in promo pools worldwide gaining praising support from Oliver Schories, Laurent Garnier, Marco Carola, Riva Starr, Sasse, Uone, Joe T Vannelli Steve Ward, Sossa, Joris Voorn, Horse Meat Disco, Marc Poppcke In early 2016 Somersault released his most ambitious work: the four track concept ‘Ultramarine EP’ on Build It Records. The EP instantly entered the Beatport top 100 Deep House Chart and received over 40,000 plays on soundcloud within the first week of release. ‘Ultramarine’ covers much deeper, darker and groovier territory than the producer’s prior work. 2015 saw the release of three widely acclaimed EPs on US imprints Build It and Particles (Proton). His release ‘Devotion/Respect’ had over 15,000 plays on Soundcloud after only two days. ‘Space Is Big’, the producer’s most successful Particles release, has since been remixed by progressive house luminaries Alex O’Rion and Sebastian Weikum. Somersault’s schedule is filling with two planned releases on Australia’s prolific Open Records and bookings at Bohemian Beatfreaks Festival, Squared Senses Festival, S.A.S.H, Foxlife and Something Else. Check him out on all channels and at the festival https://www.facebook.com/somersaultmusicaus/?fref=ts https://soundcloud.com/somersaultmusic

Hey guys, I just got back from a great weekend at the 2016 Dragon Dreaming Festival in Wee Jasper. First off.. I gotta say, what an awesome time we all had. The location is to die for and definitely one of the finest I've ever seen. The crew delivered some great stage designs complete with A1 Sound and Lighting. All up without a doubt I'd say it is of Australia's premier outdoor festivals. Surprisingly this was my first time attending and I was also lucky enough to be performing a Psytrance set on the Main stage early Sunday morning. Needless to say I was ultra excited & huge thanks goes out to the organizers for booking me & providing such a great Festival year after year. After a lot of thought on what to play, considering the time slot I decided on a really energetic set with a few older all time classic's alongside some of the freshest new artists that have really been killing it lately. All in all the crowd seemed to really dig the tunes so I'm happy with the end result. Thanks to all the smiling people who were rocking the floor all night and morning. These days I don't get to perform to interstate crowds as often as I would like to. I had an absolute blast playing for you all & I hope to get some more opportunities to smash out some killer Techno & Psychedelic sets over the coming summer months. Production wise I'm happy to say all is going well. Currently I have many of my own Techno & Psy tracks near completion, be sure to keep an ear out during my sets for more and more of my own tunes as I slowly refine them one by one. ---- Dragon Dreaming 2016 TRACK LIST ---- 1. Doppel ~ Bassic Records ~ Canberra, Australia ~Doppel Bio~ Before being exposed for the first time to the allure of the limitless creative possibilities in the world of electronic music, Doppel grew up playing rock, metal and the blues, creating an appreciation for hypnotic rhythm and twisting melodies combined with the finer details and the spaces in between. Now influenced in equal parts by the spacious and psychedelic textures of life in the Australian east coast and the surging sunset to sunrise sounds of global house and techno, he then turned his focus onto the studio, resulting in the Doppel project, a blend of styles; intricate and psychedelic with a focus on deep grooves and luscious soundscapes. A member of the house and techno collective Lotown based in Canberra, he has also just released his debut EP "Blacklight" on Australian techno label, Bassic Records. Recently Doppel has performed live at festivals such as Dragon Dreaming, Rabbits Eat Lettuce, Soliton Drop and Just Chillin’ as well as supporting acts such as Shigeto, Nosaj Thing, Jamie Stevens and Cassian at clubs and outdoor parties around Canberra, Melbourne and the East Coast. ~EP Description~ Blacklight EP - Released on Bassic Records - 18.11.2014 Free Download or Donation at Bassic Records Bandcamp bassicrecords.bandcamp.com/album/blacklight-ep Doppel's debut EP, "Blacklight" displays an array of energy driven basslines, tech house percussion and organic soundscapes, together forming the Doppel sound. The seamless flow mirrors that of the movement of our natural surroundings, a dream state formed from angelic melody and swamping synthesizers. Uplifting atmosphere is felt all the way through, the murmuration of vocals keep the mind connected to the hinted nuance of endless connectivity. Doppel's unique bush techno and house sound is represented perfectly in each original, the stripped back sound creating focus on the symbolized emotion of each note. Ken Zo's remix plugs in the progressive energy with an earth rumbling bassline and savvy technical groove. The EP finishes with Matt Dwellers take on Blacklight, the influence of Australian and French techno clear from his deep, emotive direction and limitless build ups with subtle synthetic tones.
