It's the officially the first Friday of summer and the Grinders couldn't be hotter. By hot, I mean angry. Disgusted by the news that pregnant women are now property of the state government. Unfortunately, this is only the beginning of the horrors to come.  The Supreme Court has decided that state governments now have control over the choices a pregnant woman is able to make. The government has decided women don't have the right to bodily autonomy. Worse still, this is only the beginning! Contraceptives, LGBTQ rights, worker's rights, and interracial marriage are all on the agenda. Today was a horrible blow to women and this is only the beginning. Republicans and Democrats have failed the United States of America and its people. Lest we forget that this is a gaming podcast, the Grinders were still able to talk about some happier things, like JRPG news and what they have been playing. Frank was even able to give a review of the horror movie Revealer.  There wasn't a lot of news but there were some upcoming release dates. After weeks of game delay news, it was refreshing to have some actual release dates. Games like Dusk Diver 2 and Tyrant's Blessing will be out in August, and Rune Factory 5 will be hitting Steam in July. If you live in Japan, the offline version of Dragon Quest X will also be released this year. In these trying times it's great to have video games. To help us destress from a situation that feels beyond hope. With the world collapsing around us, we all need to be aware of our own emotional and mental states. No matter how hopeless it may feel. We must never stop fighting for what is right. Just don't forget that your own health matters too.          How many more nails will be hammered into the coffin of Democracy before we lose it forever?

This week on Dragon Quest FM we're discussing Dragon Quest X! Austin started the game on Nintendo Switch a few weeks ago, and B.J. booted it up over the weekend. Yes, the game is still completely in Japanese, but you can play it without a VPN and the trial version lets you get through all of the content of 1.0 and more! Austin breaks it all down, and B.J. gives his pointers for problems you might encounter during set-up. In This Episode: We talk about where we stand with the Final Fantasy franchise right now. There's the FFVII Remake Demo on PS4, some FFXIV Shadowbringers talk, and even Void getting to the FFXV DLC that really should have been part of the main game! FF7 Remake Demo, Misc Thoughts: Void - Combat is fine. Not the best, not the worst. Curious to dig into the materia system. Beej - it’s not great, but at least it’s not totally button mashing with no real depth Void - Likes it better than FFXV.  It feels more responsive. Beej - It feels like Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy XV had a baby, and XV has the dominant genetics  Void really wants to replay it in “classic” mode to see how it feels. No jump button. Beej hates. You jump like in older 3d Zelda games, by running up to a ledge. It’s awkward. And I want to jump while running around, dangit. The buttons change their function based on combat, so if you get aggro and expect to dash away, think again. You’ve just opened up your tactics menu for a party member. The character swapping/menu opening during combat seems counterintuitive. Pressing X to open the menu instead of the D-Pad Up/Down made Beej constantly swap party members back and forth when all he needed was a Potion or to cast Thunder. Other SE games trained us that D-pad was how menus work in real-time ARPGs. Why change it now? WHY? It’s already obvious that it’s going to be much more fleshed out, both in terms of the world and the story. It will be filling in the gaps between the screens of the original while still making everything logically connect on the map is super impressive. Our primary concern is making the city of Midgar not seem samey all over. We want diverse locations and neighborhoods. The voice acting is top-notch -- except for Barrett. If he never speaks again, it will be too soon. Cloud and the others are all distinct and unique and it never felt out of place the way some voices feel in games. North America will FINALLY get the 10th installment to the OG of JRPGs alongside the 11th (which will also have a version on 3DS!).

In this episode, we learn that Fallout 4 was basically finished when they announced it, that basebuilding in the game offers a lot more than it's Skyrim counterpart, and Mod tools will not be available at launch. Additionally, there is some new Halo 5 info out there, the Xbox Games with Gold are announced for August, and according to Phil Spencer, consoles are not dead! Dragon Quest X for PS4 and Dragon Quest XI for PS4 and 3DS were annoucned, Razer is paying off Ouya's debts to developers, more details about the Witcher 3 New Game Plus mode, and Super Mega Baseball is out on Xbox One and PC August 21st.  complex.computer
