My guest on the show today is Tania Pouschine, the Founder and Portfolio Manager of Fithian. I reached out to Tania to have her on the podcast after I heard from an allocator friend that Fithian employed one of the most unique and differentiated investment processes in the public equity space. With that as the backdrop, I was excited to speak with Tania—who was formerly an investigative journalist—about: The circumstances surrounding the founding of Fithian in 2016; How being an investigative journalist informs her investment process; Fithian's perspective on what performing deep due diligence on companies actually looks like; The global long-only strategy Fithian runs for clients; and The characteristics of a prototypical Fithian stock For more information about Fithian, please visit: https://www.fithianllc.com/ This episode is sponsored by: Daloopa Earnings season—two words that can make any analyst's heart race. The Medial Meniscus is a known secondary stabilizer to the ACL in terms of anterior tibial translation in the knee. So what happens after ACL reconstruction if the medial meniscus is deficient? Dr. Andrew Fithian, MD joins us to discuss his study addressing this very question. Coming to us from Kaiser Permanente San Diego, Dr. Fithian and his team investigated postoperative anterior tibial translation in autograft ACL patients with an intact medial meniscus, a repaired medial meniscus, or a partially resected medial meniscus. The results may guide decision making when facing a situation with an irreparable medial meniscus tear in the setting of an ACL tear, particularly with graft choice.

On today's episode of The Boxoffice Podcast hosts Daniel Loria, Rebecca Pahle, and Shawn Robbins go over Tuesday's events at CinemaCon 2022. The day began with NATO's John Fithian pronouncing the end of simultaneous releases as a serious business model during his State of the Industry address. Fithian cited overwhelming piracy concerns as the reason for its demise—at least when it comes to major titles on the release schedule. The hosts break down that statement in relation to the releases showcased during the day's studio presentations. Neon followed the State of the Industry session with a showcase of three titles, including David Cronenberg's highly-anticipated return to the body horror genre. Warner Bros. capped off the day with its own presentation, showcasing a number of original titles and its roster of upcoming DC Comics movies. Early footage from The Flash wowed the CinemaCon crowd, while personal appearances from Baz Luhrman and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson kept the event lively. In our feature segment, Daniel interviews Cinemark CEO Sean Gamble on the value of an exclusive theatrical window. The Cinemark executive speaks on why he believes exclusivity won't act as a deterrent for cinemas to work with streamers—his circuit already has a working relationship with Netflix—and why cinema's future will involve a greater variety of programming.
On today's episode of The Boxoffice Podcast's Daily CinemaCon Edition Presented by ICE Theaters, hosts Daniel Loria, Rebecca Pahle, and Shawn Robbins go over their expectations for this year's event. And in today's feature interview, NATO's John Fithian and MPA's Charlie Rivkin join Daniel and Rebecca to share their priorities as the cinema industry continues to move forward on the road to recovery.

My best friend Diana recently moved with her husband and kids back to New York from L.A. (I know, I need my own therapist to deal with this!). As a consequence of being back on the east coast and nearer to family, she's now cooking a Thanksgiving dinner for TWENTY people total. All of her siblings will be their with their spouses and kids, plus her parents, and to make things even more complex several of the guests are vegan and several of the guests have celiac (aka: they're gluten-free). One day after head coach Dan Campbell said the team would explore alternatives at the position, the Lions are signing Riley Patterson off the New England Patriots practice squad, the team announced Tuesday. An undrafted free agent out of Memphis, Patterson initially signed with the Minnesota Vikings before suffering an undisclosed injury that landed him on injured reserve. After being released with a settlement, he joined the Patriots last month. At Memphis, Patterson made 64 of his 83 field-goal attempts across four seasons, with a career-long of 56 yards. He earned all-conference honors in 2019 after converting 23 of 25 attempts. He also handled kickoffs for the school, securing a touchback on 162 of the 295 attempts. For the time being, Patterson will replace Ryan Santoso, who was filling in for the injured Austin Seibert, continuing Detroit's odyssey to replace Matt Prater, who departed as a free agent this offseason, signing a two-year, $6.5-million contract with the Arizona Cardinals.Lions' Decker angry and annoyed with media negativity, trade speculationAllen Park — In a vacuum, Detroit Lions offensive Taylor Decker could have ignored the talk radio, internet and social media chatter. But we don't live in a vacuum, and the negative commentary that percolated during the two months he was sidelined by injury seeped into every aspect of his life. His friends sent him articles, his neighbors asked him about it when he was walking the dog, but when speculation he could be traded by the Detroit Lions reached his parents and he had to address their concerns, it was more than Decker could handle. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/nfl/lions/2021/11/15/lions-decker-angry-and-annoyed-media-negativity-trade-speculation/8629894002/https://nfltraderumors.co/top-50-2021-nfl-free-agents/Mel Tucker-https://www.si.com/nfl/lions/news/mel-tucker-contract-could-be-held-up-power-strugglehttps://www.espn.in/college-football/story/_/id/32647199/oklahoma-lincoln-riley-downplays-speculation-interest-lsu-job

In our latest episode with talk with long time direct action organizer Lisa Fithian. We talked about many of the issues confronting us right now, and how people are fighting back. Lisa's been on the front lines for almost four decades, from fighting against the Reagan attacks on Central America, to helping organize workers, to fighting transnational institutions like the WTO and the World Bank, wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, doing Mutual Aid in New Orleans after Katrina, supporting Gaza and so many other things. We talked to her about the role of mutual aid in resistance, and also the current wave of work stoppages and wildcats, and the potential for mass action at this critical time in our lives. Cassius Winston put on a show against Michigan
A veteran activist's guide to direct action and strategic civil disobedience as the most radical and rapid means to social change For decades, Lisa Fithian’s work as an advocate for civil disobedience and nonviolent direct action has put her on the frontlines of change. Described by Mother Jones as “the nation’s best-known protest consultant,” Fithian has supported countless movements including the Battle of Seattle in 1999, rebuilding and defending communities following Hurricane Katrina, Occupy Wall Street, and the uprisings at Standing Rock and in Ferguson. For anyone who wants to become more active in resistance or is just feeling overwhelmed or hopeless, Shut It Down offers strategies and actions you can take right now to promote justice and incite change in your own community. In Shut It Down Fithian shares historic, behind-the-scenes stories from some of the most important people-powered movements of the past several decades. She shows how movements that embrace direct action have always been, and continue to be, the most radical and rapid means for transforming the ills of our society. Shut It Down is filled with instructions and inspiration for how movements can evolve as the struggle for social justice continues in the Trump era and beyond. While recognizing that electoral politics, legislation, and policy are all important pathways to change, Shut It Down argues that civil disobedience is not just the only action that remains when all else fails, but a spiritual pursuit that protects our deepest selves and allows us to reclaim our humanity. Change can come, but only if we’re open to creatively, lovingly, and strategically standing up, sometimes at great risk to ourselves, to protect what we love. give it a'listen Wowza--this episode was a teensie bit tough for a couple reasons. Candace has personal experience with an action/protest from the book, which was traumatic and the memories carry a lot of feelings with them. But no fear: we also talk possumkratom69 and Tiny Toons, so it ain't all a bummer. Mentioned Links We mentioned possumkratom69 and their cool memes.
