INXS: Access all Areas is back with a vengeance this week with a truly original episode in two parts. Frank Benbini of the Fun Lovin Criminals joins Bee and I to discuss the profound musical influence INXS had on him and his band mates as musicians. As a hybrid musical act out of New York City, the F.L.C adopted a blended style of music prowess combining rock, blues, hip hop, dance and soul. Uncompromising, unapologetic and unmissable “live”, Frank deep dives and revels in the skill, songcraft and talent of Andrew, Tim and Jon Farriss in particular whilst sharing a chance encounter he had with Michael in 1993 England! Frank's versatility as a musician has led to regular gigs with UB40 as a touring musician and several respected side projects such as “Uncle Frank”. This allowed Frank to make a magical recording with Sinead O'Connor before she suddenly passed. That and a jam packed news section bringing us right up to date! So sit back, forget about the problems in your life and embrace this latest bumper double episode! Love and peace

Richard Coles and Viv Groskop talk to England football legend John Barnes who earned 79 caps over 12 years. His talent was spotted as a teenager and he began his career at Watford, going on to have huge success at Liverpool in the 1980s and 90s. He has been a coach, a football manager and even scored a number 1 single with his contribution to football song World In Motion, and now works as a commentator and pundit. DJ, raconteur, author, producer, broadcaster and Fun Lovin’ Criminal, Huey Morgan was born in New York and grew up listening to Latin American Music through his Puerto Rican heritage. He eventually became the frontman of rock band Fun Lovin’ Criminals and now has his own shows on Radio 2 and 6Music. Mudlark Lisa Woollett is a photographer who has always been drawn to beaches and riverbeds, combing and searching for objects left behind from other times. Lisa is particularly drawn to the Thames where she has unearthed the story of her mother’s side of the family, the Tolladays. Her book Rag and Bone charts the history of this family of dustmen and scavengers and shows that the things we discard often find their way to the surface again. Listener Jane Ferriday contacted Saturday Live to tell us the story of her birth parents, who met and fell in love during the Second World War, whilst they were based at an airbase in Berkshire. Her father was already married, and returned to his family in America and her mother placed her up for adoption. It was years later that Jane was able to find out what really happened and to piece together her story. And we'll have the Inheritance Tracks of actor and comedian Sally Phillips. May, 2001, Ireland. Two men arrive late in the morning on a cold and empty east coast beach. They are hungover. They are limping. They look at each other squinting. “This is it” one mumbled. “It’s done… Time to put on those headphones one last time…” It wasn’t one last time. Adgeen and Tony were back! And the Friday Rock Show ‘Brittas Bay’ special of ’01 was a masterclass in how to bottle a beautiful bowel movement. But they got by with a little help from their financially-induced friends. Dave O’Leary, Stephen Hawking, Ciaran Brennan, Neddy Tafler, Mr. Mellon, Gabbler, Leo McGregor and Paul Gombatuna all lent a well-remunerated hand in bringing the Friday Rock Show back on the air. Holding court among the bemused lobster-fleshed locals, bubbling farts in their ‘Rock Jacuzzi’, Adgeen and Tony sat on a Wicklow beach to present the first Friday Rock Show of the new millennium. They splash around, gurn, writhe and slap each other senseless in this epic summer special on Brittas Bay, Ireland’s ‘Premier Beach Attraction’ so someone says. You’ll hear some quite outlandish communiqués from our listeners. Jagger nearly spills hash into his pint while watching Celine gyrate beside his armchair. Neddy is so horny, his cock might explode as he soon gets his conquest ‘up the duff’. Baldy travels down to Wexford to fall in love with Becks from Coolgreany and proceeds to eat all her food. Then there’s Karen McGaa, who starts work at the ‘Donation Station’ in a sperm bank, soon to be hypnotised by Quentin’s larger-than-expected contribution. Finally there’s Gerry Dixon, who’s very angry at the ‘First Wives Club’ of his local GAA community, spitefully telling us they’re all ‘skulling back pints’, ‘riding in tractor sheds’ and ‘building a house next to the ‘mammy’’. Witness more spots than you can flick a snot at, with Who Wants To Be a Millionaire, Gabbler’s Sci-Fi Spot, The Tune The Box Spat Out, Don’t Fuck Up The Microphone and a bevy of promotional adverts to pick the sand out of your crack to. Adgeen and Tony dance in the moonlight with Toploader, roll with Limp Bizkit, go loco with the Fun Lovin’ Criminals, steal some sunshine with Len and play sssshhpiderman with The Ramones! And even the sun briefly came out too. It’s a mighty soggy sandcastle of a show. So throw down your towel and let The Friday Rock Show lash the air off your pimply blue skin with our Brittas Bay Special from 2001. Hello and welcome back to the injured to elite podcast with your host me Dr. Dave Meyer Dream Coach and Performance Physical Therapist. Today we have an extraordinary guest, Mateo Difontaine. The story you are about to hear is graphic, emotional, and like no other story you have heard before. Mateo is a world renowned DJ, part of the band the Fun Lovin Criminals and performing for some of the most exclusive Hollywood parties including the Oscars Vanity Fair After Party, to spinning records on yachts off the coast of the south of france with some of the most prestigious artists in the world. Mateo's life as he knew it came to a temporary halt 5 years ago in May of 2015. I had the grateful opportunity to sit down with Mateo in Brooklyn, just this past week where he graciously shared with me his mind-blowing story. Now, I apologize for the audio quality being a bit less than what I have previously given you all, but in Brooklyn you never know when the sirens are going to blare or the helicopters are going to fly overhead. I wanted to keep this as authentic as possible and unedited as Mateo shares his story less than 2 miles where the notorious BIG Biggie smalls grew up. Please keep your hearts and minds open and receptive as you are about to hear a personal and miraculous story from an absolute legend who continues to defy the odds. Hi there lovelies, This week we are going back in time in 2016, when I first started my podcast, called back then Successful entrepreneurs. I had the pleasure to interview Carl Williams, to get a better understanding of the beginning of both the Jazz and Folk festivals. How he and Gerv got started and how they got to where there are today, as one of the most famous festivals right in the center of the UK. The festivals have included the likes of Chaka Khan, Soul II Soul, George Clinton Parliament Funkadelic, De La Soul, Gregory Porter, Fun Lovin Criminals, Chic Feat. Nile Rogers and Public Enemy and many more… This episode is one of my first interview, I apologise for the quality and my style of the interviewer. I used to come to both festival and provide aerial views for Carl, and used to love it. It’s an amazing place to be if you are into live music. I do hope you enjoy it thought. If you are thinking of starting a music festival there is good advice from Carl to get you started. The link for the festivals below: https://mostlyjazz.co.uk/ https://www.moseleyfolk.co.uk/ Have a great weekend my friends and see you next week. HODJA: Claudius Abesodo Gamiel Winston King Pratt aka Gamiel Stone hails from New York City. His first recording was made in an apartment on the NYC’s Lower East Side, with Huey Morgan of Fun Lovin’ Criminals and Ray Greene legendary NYCHC drummer. Matthias Arbo Klein has been drumming in over 20 years. He learned by listening and playing to everything that caught his attention. His biggest influence was his teacher Mr. Jerry Granelli, drummer with The Grateful Dead, Charlie Haiden and Ornette Coleman. Tenboi Levinson is a musician, composer and producer from Copenhagen, Denmark, who has been playing guitar since the late 70’s. Funk, punk, jazz, new wave, blues, rock n’roll, whatever… A self-taught multi-instrumentalist, he works as a producer/musician with Danish artists Caroline Henderson, Steen Jorgensen and Jimmy Jorgensen. Boi met Claudius and Matthias when producing an album with Reverend Shine Snake Oil Co., He later hired and toured with the drummer Matthias where they found common pleasure and ease in playing together. One night while hanging out at his personal studio in Christiania “Chimney Top Roof Recording” Boi and Claudius wrote some sketches that would later turn into songs for their first collaboration and “HODJA” the band was born. http://www.hodjamusic.com/ https://www.facebook.com/hodjatheband/ https://twitter.com/HODJATHEBAND On this episode, we are drinking LSM Aether Gin - LSM's Leipzig Æther - a London Dry Gin - stands for the highly concentrated, carefully balanced essential oils of herbs and natural ingredients that are distilled on their 8 L Potstill for it. We use over 100 g of freshly mined drugs per liter of gin, as well as sliced fruits and plenty of lime blossom honey. The Leipzig Æther is a result of more than 30 individual distillations in product development. With this artwork, LSM once again illustrates our connection to innovative alchemy and our traditional craft. The Leipziger Spirituosen Manufaktur, a young Leipzig company, stands for uncompromising quality, sustainable raw materials and artisan art. All their products are hand-crafted with the aim of sourcing all raw materials from sustainable and regional sources - out of conviction. Sophisticated production methods and great attention to detail make their spirits a special taste experience, developed and produced from a combination of passion and science. A podcast for thinkers, wanderers and drink'n'ponderers. Matthew Hendershot is your host, accompanied by co-hosts, Jake and Justin plus many guests throughout this journey, a booze fueled jaunt through a new land with new customs and rules. In the spirit of unbridled curiosity and the will to experience everything this eclectic crew set out on adventures and conversations from the unique to the mundane and take shots at figuring out this crazy modern world. This happens both literally and figuratively as each episode is properly greased by everyone's favorite social lubricant in it's most unadulterated form, Schnaps! Huey joins Chris and Stu to talk about his Top 5 MC's. Of course Huey did it in style by inviting the boys to the slick London Edition Hotel where they hung out and went in on Hip-Hop's greatest. They talk about what makes an MC, Huey's growing up in New York and the buzz around the genre and his love for it.Huey tells us about the time he could have saved rock n roll, hanging out with Beck and Everlast, the Golden Rule, how to make a brass monkey, as well as a dive into Hueys past in both the marines and as a musician and radio presenter. If you love hip hop, or are a fan of one the country's best Radio presenters and musicians this episode is 100% Columbian. It’s my brother from another mother and one of my closest friends – who also happens to be a badass superstar DJ – Mateo DiFontaineNow some of my Fun Lovin Criminals fans out there will know Mateo – he toured with us back in the day, and earlier this year too, supporting the band, getting our crowds warmed up like no other. It was a blast to have him back with us this year rockin the decks and rockin bods! Now Mateo is an insanely cool dude, who when he’s not making you jump around at an FLC gig you’ll most likely find him DJ-ing a Vanity Fair party, workin his magic at some awards show after party – hobnobbing with the rich, famous, cool and talented. But in this pod we talk specifically about the last couple of years of his life when some real crazy life changing shit happened to him – how he came through it and how it’s changed his whole perspective on things. And we manage to throw in a story about the time we got pinched roliin round the streets of New York on our BMXs, so listen out for that one….And just a heads up on the sound on this one. We’ve heard your feedback and we’ve made some change to improve the sound quality on future episodes. But this one was recorded a little while ago in the summer, out on Mateo’s deck in Brooklyn, so there’s a wind and the sounds of Brooklyn goin off in the background. Stick with it, it’s great story and we’re workin on the sound for future episodes,as I said….Check it out, yo. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
"The best pop music is the songs that a group of people can dance to, but you can also listen to in your bed and cry. That's something obviously that The Beatles started and... so having that darkness there opens another door." - Jack Antonoff We're back with a new episode featuring songs from Martin Garrix, Lloyd Price, A-ha, Bleachers, Metallica, Jr. Byles, ELO feat Jay Park, Yndio, Grateful Dead, Les Bemerle, and Fun Lovin' Criminals! This week I have the honour of speaking with one of the most important people in rock n roll history, and one of my best friends... It's Uncle Mike! These days he's a legendary DJ on the New York scene, still rockin bods in the finest spots in the city - when he's not rockin a union suit in a Spaghetti Western remake that is - but back in the day, this guy was at the top of his game at Epic and EMI Records. He signed the Fun Lovin' Criminals and worked with some of the biggest rock, metal and alternative acts around. Check this pod for the full story of how the FLC got signed and went from schleppin ice and answering phones at the Limelight club to playing to 90,000 on tour with U2. We talk about the magical days of Bungalow 8 when Mike and I both had a drink on the menu named after us, the time Puffy "borrowed" a lighter from Mike, how we came to meet Joe Strummer in our underwear and what Sharon Osborne is really like... There is truly too much to even summarise, so the best thing to do is kick back... See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Explicit Content! Local Podcasters Christopher Neill Walker (Here's What's Wrong with you Podcast) and Ray Brito (Gallows Humor Podcast) gather at my house to do #3 in the "Podcast Wars" series. So far each one of our podcasts has hosted one. We discuss podcasts, Ray's apartment troubles, and we delve pretty hard into some "blue" material. Music by: Nirvana, Nina Hagen, Nine Inch Nails, Fun Lovin' Criminals, Sneaker Pimps, and Weezer.
Welcome welcome welcome to episode 151 of the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip! Very happy to have you aboard. This week is a straight up New Yorican banger, as Pip is joined by the infamous, the notorious, the Fun Lovin' Criminal himself Mister Huey Morgan! A long awaited one right here, as Pip has forged a friendship with Huey over the years so a chat was always on the cards between these two. From his days misbehaving in New York back in the day (now currently causing havoc in Somerset!), to joining the Marines and channeling his inner aggression into more positive areas, to bartending and setting up a band which would later lead to an illustrious music career, all peppered with real life madness - living through 9/11, a standoff with a Hanson member (and close relation), and that appearance on Never Mind The Buzzcocks. Huey is a powerful presence in the music industry and whether you've been down since Fun Lovin' Criminals or picked up on him through his 6 Music show, you'll get a lot out... Dicen sus habitantes que Nueva York es un estado mental, no sólo una ciudad. En esta nueva edición de Las Calles del Ritmo, hay quienes la describen como una religión (Laura Nyro), quienes la insultan (Al Kooper) o la califican como una asesina (Gil Scott-Heron), incluso como un cementerio (los Moldy Peaches) en el que morirían en sus calles tan a gusto (LCD Soundsystem)...Otros hablan de sus mafiosos (Fun Lovin Criminals) y de sus chulos (Tom Waits), dedican odas a alguno de sus barrios (Bill Withers, Beastie Boys), recuerdan pintorescos hechos reales como el Gran Apagón de 1977 (The Trammps) o, simplemente, se despiden de ella con tristeza (REM), como hacemos ya mismo en este programa.PLAYLIST:1- Jack Kerouac & Steve Allen - Bowery blues (Beat generation poetry, 2011).2- Joni Mitchell - Chelsea Morning (Clouds, 1969).3- Simon & Garfunkel - Bleecker street (Wednesday Morning 3 AM, 1964).4- Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazlewood - Greenwich Village Folks Song Salesman (Nancy & Lee, 1968).5- Tom Waits - Union Square (Rain Dogs, 1984) 6- Lou Reed - Walk on the Wild Side (Transformer, 1972).7- Steely Dan - Daddy Don't Live in That New York City Anymore (Katy Lied, 1975).8- Fun Lovin Criminals - King of New York (Come Find Yourself, 1996).9- The Dictators - Avenue A (D.F.F.D., 2001).10- Ramones - 53rd & 3rd (Ramones, 1976).11- The Moldy Peaches - Burning Nyc's Like a Graveyard (The Moldy Peaches, 2001).12- LCD Soundsystem - New York I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down (Sound of Silver, 2001).13- Laura Nyro - New York Tendaberry (New York Tendaberry, 1969).14- Al Kooper - New York City (You're a Woman) (New York City (You're a Woman), 1971).15- Gil Scott-Heron - New York Is Killing Me (I'm New Here, 2010).16- Odyssey - Native New Yorker (Odyssey, 1977).17- The Trammps - The Night the Lights Went Out (The Trammps III, 1977).18- Bob & Earl - Harlem Shuffle (1963).19- Bill Withers - Harlem (Just As I Am, 1971).20- Jay-Z & Alicia Keys - Empire State of Mind (The Blueprint 3, 2009).21- Beastie Boys - Hello Brooklyn (Paul's Boutique, 1989).22- REM - Leaving New York (Around the Sun, 2004) .23- Leonard Cohen - Chelsea Hotel #2 (New Skin for the Old Ceremony, 1974).
