The Nag Hammadi texts are a collection of early Christian and Gnostic manuscripts discovered in 1945 near the town of Nag Hammadi in Upper Egypt. Written primarily in Coptic, these documents include the Gospel of Thomas, the Gospel of Philip, and other works that were not incorporated into the traditional Christian canon. They offer unique perspectives on Jesus's teachings, delve into esoteric beliefs about the nature of existence, and shed light on the diversity of thought in early Christian communities.

Hello, it's AfshanWe're only days away from the 9th edition of the Fifa Women's World Cup, which is held every four years. There's a palpable excitement in the air as women's football has grown in stature, with an expanding fan base that is now being recognised by sports associations, brands, governments and the media. This edition of the World Cup, which is being held in Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20, is set to become the most attended standalone women's sporting event in history. FIFA has sold over 1m tickets for the event. So, we had to get UAE National Team football player and Adidas athlete Areej Al Hammadi on the show for this episode to chat all about football… and the World Cup, of course. The 37-year-old Emirati footballer, whose obsession with the sport began by watching the World Cups with her brothers and playing with them as a child, had to carve her own path into playing at a national level at a time when there were very few avenues for women to go pro. Now, a very well-recognised face, this 2-time Guinness World Record holder has become a role model for other girls and women who aspire to become footballers and make it a career.Areej lays out the UAE and world football scene for us, with all its challenges and opportunities, and we talk about the Women's World Cup and what the future holds. And as FIFA's President Gianni Infantino so rightly put it recently: “The future is women.” At The Mettleset we know - the NOW is too!We hope you enjoy the episode! To know more about Areej, head to @areej.alhammadi13 and www.areejalhammadi.comIf you want to follow the FIFA Women's World Cup and all its happenings, visit fifa.com For our episode with Georgia Adderley, the co-founder of Onyx FC, the UAE's first fully female-owned football club, head to EP11: GOALS: Onyx FC Co-Founder Georgia Adderley on community, inclusion and sharing the beautiful game Our wider support team for this episode includes Editor JJ Thompson and our Artwork is by the talented Alexandra Hickey of Studio Theodore. For more info, visit www.themettleset.com , and follow us on @themettlesetDawn & Afshan @dawnable @afshahmed

Something which is often talked of in magical circles, but not greatly understood- is Gnosticism and those who were called Gnostics. These Gnostics were those that valued personal experience of God; a knowledge called "gnosis," over more orthodox traditions and institutions. For the last 2000 years, we knew very little about these Gnostics, but all of that changed with an amazing archeological find in 1945 in Egypt. Taking us through Gnosticism and all things Gnostic, is the host of the greatest gnostic podcast ever, Aeon Byte Gnostic Radio- Mr. Miguel Conner!

Surah An-Nisa' (bahasa Arab: سورة النسآء, translit. sūrah an-nisā’, har.
Surah Al-Baqarah (bahasa Arab: سورة البقرة, translit. sūrah al-baqarah, har.
Surah Āli Imrān (bahasa Arab: سورة آل عمران, translit. sūrah Āli ‘Imrān, har.
Surah Al-An'am (bahasa Arab: سورة الأنعام, translit. sūrah al-an‘ām, har.

Jann Aldredge-Clanton didn't start out as a reformer. When she was a pre-teen, she almost starved herself to death trying to fit into the culture's feminine mold. In high school she felt inadequate because she never won a beauty crown, even though she graduated at the top of her class. Slowly, she began waking up to her own voice, and became one of the first women ever to be ordained as a Baptist minister in the South. She is the author of several books including hymnbooks in which she writes hymns in honor of the divine feminine. Her books include: Intercultural Ministry: Hope for a Changing World, Earth Transformed with Music! Inclusive Songs for Worship, Inclusive Hymns for Liberating Christians, and Inclusive Hymns for Liberation, Peace, and Justice. Brent Landau of the University of Texas at Austin. The Nag Hammadi library discovered in 1945 has provided a number of alternative Christian texts. They were not included in the Bible. Dr. Celene Lillie discusses three of these texts in her book, The Rape of Eve: The Transformation of Roman ideology in Three Early Christian Retellings of Genesis. In each of these texts, “On the Origin of the World,” “The Reality of the Rulers,” and “The Secret Revelation of John,” Eve is portrayed as having been humiliated by the cosmic powers but experiences restoration. They have been dismissed by many orthodox Christians as Gnostic or even heresy. New scholarship has discovered that these texts are quite complex, even playful, as they provide alternative myths to the founding myths of Rome. She sees these Nag Hammadi stories are myths of resistance to Roman imperial power and to Rome’s culture of rape and domination. Dr. Lillie is the director of the Tanho Center in Longmont, Colorado. We hear a lot these days about Armageddon, the Apocalypse, the Rapture, End Times. More than a current cultural phenomenon, they appear to be a persuasive motivating force for millions of Americans. These words are now part of our vocabulary, and as metaphors, they show up all over the map -- Carmageddon as the nickname for the I-405's weekend closure in July 2011. But, where do they come from? As many of you may know, they come from the Book of Revelation, the last book of the Christian New Testament. But how did they get there? Who wrote this? What does it mean? This week's guest, religious scholar ELAINE PAGELS, author of The Gnostic Gospels, considers the Book of Revelation to be wartime literature. She points out that it was written by a Jew following Rome's resounding defeat of a Jewish uprising, and interprets it as an attack on the decadence of the Empire. Soon, however, a new sect known as "Christians" seized on it as a weapon against heresy and infidels of all kinds. I believe that weapon is still active today in American culture and politics. We'll talk about Revelations, and we'll talk a bit about the Gnostic Gospels and the over 50 texts discovered hidden and preserved in Nag Hammadi Egypt in 1945. And about the impact of politics and culture on religion, highlighted by the moment when Constantine converted to the Church of Rome. Christianity went from being the religion of outsiders and freethinkers, to being the religion of the Empire. And we'll talk about how all of this plays out today in the US and around the world.
