In this episode of Journey to the Blue Sky, Arun and Patricia have reached the post-Blue Sky Studios era where in 2021, Blue Sky Studios was shut down after Fox was purchased by Disney. The first animated film from this era is the 2022 animated film The Ice Adventures of Buck Wild exclusively on Disney+. Crash and Eddie want to become independent of the pack after destroying their summer habitat and decide to leave to fend for themselves. They meet up with Buck Wild as he's trying to prevent a Protoceratops named Orson from conquering the Lost World. When the film was released on Disney+, critics and viewers hated it and called it a low point in the Ice Age franchise, even getting more negative reviews than Ice Age: Collision Course. They criticized the animation, the story, the replaced voice actors, and Disney's decision of shutting down the studio in the first place. What did Arun and Patricia think of the film? Listen and find out. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/old-school-lane/support
In this episode of Journey to the Blue Sky, Arun and Patricia discuss about the 2016 Blue Sky Studios animated film Ice Age: Collision Course, the fifth and final film in the Ice Age franchise. Manny and Ellie's daughter Peaches is about to get married to a young mammoth named Julian and ready to move out, but then an asteroid is about to crash the Earth and destroy everything. It's up to Manny, Diego, Sid, Buck, and the gang to head to the location where the previous asteroid that killed the dinosaurs crashed in to figure out how to avert the one coming in elsewhere in the atmosphere. When the film premiered in theaters, it made $408 million dollars out of a $105 million dollar budget receiving negative reviews from critics calling it "unfunny, unoriginal, and derivative from the previous films". What did Arun and Patricia think of this film? Listen and find out. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/old-school-lane/support
Nothing brings us more joy than watching on of the 4 million "Ice Age" films with the superior Comedian/Podcaster/Producer Ben Russell."Ice Age: Collision Course" is the the fifth and final theatrical released film in this damn franchise. In this movie, that Scrat squirrel dude chases his acorn into a spaceship and creates the solar system. All of the funny mammals in this movie continue to be funny and argumentative, but this time... it's about space!John Leguizamo voices Sid, the funniest of the funny mammals (arguably.) We're going back to 2012 and 2016 and checking the screening times for a double feature of a Jennifer Lopez in Dreamworks' Ice Age: Continental Drift and Ice Age: Collision Course. JLO joins a star studded OG cast featuring Ray Romano, Queen Latifah, Dennis Leary, and John Luigazamo, AS Diego's love interest Shira. This is the second animated film and third she has done, does this fair better than her role in Antz? Will this be a movie rental fav or a movie theater regret? --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/loyaloats/message

Hi all! For this episode, we had the privilege of talking with Annlyn Huang. Annlyn is currently a character designer at Blue Sky Studios. The latest Blue Sky film she worked on was Ice Age: Collision Course. Before Blue Sky, she graduated from San Jose State University in 2013, and interned as a background painter on the oscar-nominated short film, The Dam Keeper. This conversation really hit home for us and it was great to talk to not only an amazing artist, but also a wonderful person. :)

In this film, the antics of Scrat the squirrel flying a UFO in outer space, chasing the elusive acorn, ends up inadvertently causing a massive meteor shower to hit Earth. Manny the woly mammoth and his wife Ellie forget, for a moment, their fears that their daughter Peaches will end up leaving them once she gets married to the silly-natured but loveable Julian. They see the fiery rocks hurtling in their vicinity and immediately run for cover, along with their gang of friends (aka The Herd) of many species, eventually running into the spirited and highly intelligent one-eyed weasel named Buck (returning from the third film, Dawn of the Dinosaurs), who concocts a plan to keep the most massive of asteroids from hitting Earth yet again and wiping them all out. Teamwork is employed, but they're going to have to stay a step ahead of a trio of ill-mannered Dino-Birds who want all of these other pesky critters like the dino-egg saving Buck out of the way so they can rule the roost as the most powerful creatures on the newly destroyed planet.

Welcome to a new SobieCast for Comicnoobs! In this episode Sobie brings back the BFG Drew himself to talk all of the movies coming out in July. They start by talking about Drew's performance in the "BFG" (1:45), then talk about how "The Purge: Election Year" might be before its time (8:30), then go into the movie of the July 4th weekend "The Legend of Tarzan" (11:45), they talk about the awesome voice-cast in "The Secret Life of Pets" (16:55), then Sobie has a crisis and ponders a break up with Anna Kendrick due to "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates" (19:50), then talk about the really interesting and sad looking "Captain Fantastic" (25:15), followed by a convo about the unwarranted controversial new "Ghostbusters" movie (29:55), then the Bryan Cranston Pablo Escobar movie "The Infiltrator" (34:10), then Sobie discovers that there is actually a new Star Trek movie coming out with "Star Trek: Beyond" (37:30), then they talk about the overseas hit "Ice Age: Collision Course" (44:10), they talk a new horror film "Lights Out" (47:45), then talk about Kristin Bell's love for whip-its in "Bad Moms" (49:45), then talk about the movie "Equity" and whether it should have been a TV series (54:05), then talk about a ton of Indie movies that look extremely fun and delightful (58:05). These movies include: "Life, Animated," the A-24 movies "Equals" and "Into the Forest," "Tulip Fever," "Indignation," the new Woody Allen "Cafe Society," a fun comedy "Don't Think Twice," and an interesting Crank style movie "Nerve." They finish up the July preview by talking about the bi-yearly reminder that Julia Stiles is still alive in the new "Jason Bourne" movie (1:17:15). Check out Drew on Twitter @bigtalldrew! This episode’s a bit different than most: No entertainment news roundtable, no movie review, just sheer listmania from start to finish. Here’s the deal: The Screeners have decided to try their hands at picking the top summer movies of 2016, as determined by their box office haul. The “official” rules are here, but Chad didn’t read them, so why should you? It’s pretty simple, actually: Rank the gross domestic (US + Canada) profit of movies released between May 6 and September 5 from 1 to 10 in descending order, and pick 3 more “dark horses” that you’re not as confident about but think might make a good showing. We won’t summarise the gory scoring details here, but rest assured: There will be a winner, and that winner will inflict some form of horrific cinematic torture on the rest of our beloved Screeners. Some of them might not make it, but they knew that when they signed up for this.Just so no one can back out of their terrible, terrible picks after the fact, we’re going to post them all right here, right now; don’t read on if you want to play along unbiased by your favorite Screener’s opinions. OK—we’ll list Josh’s first so you can have just a taste of how this goes; we’re pretty sure he’s not your favorite Screener anyway.Josh:Captain America: Civil WarSuicide SquadIndependence Day ResurgenceX-Men ApocalypseStar Trek BeyondJason BourneTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the ShadowsMechanic: ResurrectionCentral IntelligenceFinding DoryDark Horses:The Secret Life of PetsIce Age: Collision CourseGhostbustersDaniel:Captain America: Civil WarFinding DoryX-Men: ApocalypseSuicide SquadIndependence Day: ResurgenceStar Trek BeyondThe Secret Life of PetsGhostbustersJason BourneCentral IntelligenceDark Horses:Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the ShadowsAlice Through the Looking GlassIce Age: Collision CourseMelody:Captain America Civil WarFinding DorySuicide SquadThe Secret Life of PetsX-men ApocalypseIndependence Day: ResurgenceGhostbustersStar Trek BeyondAngry BirdsJason BourneDark Horses:Central IntelligenceTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the ShadowsNeighbors 2Chris:Captain America: Civil WarIndependence Day: ResurgenceX-Men ApocalypseFinding DoryGhostbustersThe Secret Life of PetsSuicide SquadStar Trek BeyondTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the ShadowsJason BourneDark Horses:Neighbors 2Bad MomsCentral IntelligenceChad:Captain America: Civil WarFinding DorySuicide SquadThe Secret Life of PetsX-Men ApocalypseStar Trek BeyondAngry BirdsJason BourneTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the ShadowsGhostbustersDark Horses:Central IntelligenceBFGAlice Through the Looking Glass
The Obsessive Viewer - Weekly Movie/TV Review & Discussion Podcast
Mike returns to the podcast for our first ever Summer Box Office Challenge. We've each chosen our predictions for the top ten Summer 2016 domestic box office results. We've also guessed (likely wildly inaccurately) what the domestic gross will be for each movie in the top ten by Labor Day weekend, and we've also guessed highest and lowest opening weekend numbers as well as the highest and lowest Rotten Tomatoes score in the top ten. All of this will be graded on a point system at the end of summer. The winner will get to choose a movie (with no limitations or restrictions) for the other hosts to watch and review on a future episode of the podcast.
