In this captivating episode of The Dr. Christopher Hall Show , co-hosted with Dr. Christopher Hall, we delve into the fascinating life and career of Chris Mulkey, a versatile talent known for his work in film, television, and music. Mulkey, an actor, blues and Americana songwriter, and singer, shares his journey from the Midwest to Hollywood, revealing the evolution of his acting career, his experiences on set, and his personal insights into the changing landscape of the entertainment industry. Growing up in Wisconsin in a family with roots stretching from New Orleans to Georgia, Mulkey's path to acting was anything but ordinary. From starting college as a history major and wrestler to finding his calling in acting thanks to a friend's suggestion, Mulkey's story is a testament to following one's passions and the serendipitous turns life can take. His early success with a play that made it to New York set the stage for a prolific career spanning over four decades, including notable roles in "Wing Commander," "Whiplash," and "Captain Phillips." Mulkey opens up about the technological and cultural shifts he's witnessed in Hollywood, from the days of in-person auditions and runner-assisted communications to the digital age of video auditions and direct offers. Despite the industry's evolution, his dedication to the craft and ability to adapt shine through as keys to his longevity. Reflecting on his education, Mulkey touches on his initial reluctance to pursue acting, his eventual switch to a performing arts major, and how a background in psychology has informed his approach to characters and storytelling.

The aftermath of Maddy's murder and the reveal of Laura's killer leads us into the realm of dramatic irony for the first time in Twin Peaks! Agent Cooper and Sheriff Truman get closer to figuring out the truth the audience already knows—that Ben Horne did not kill Laura—and Cooper gets reacquainted with his intuition, much to the Sheriff's consternation; meanwhile, Bobby dabbles in blackmail, and Norma gets a surprise visitor at the Double R. Also! Does Ben need a new lawyer? How hard is it to keep the One Armed Man from escaping? And where does one go in a town like Twin Peaks for good, quality showtunes? (Apparently, all you need is a car and a set of golf clubs...) We may as well call this The Jerry Show since so many of our clips selected for this week's episode feature his classic deadpan humour, but after the darkness of last week's episodes, we were just so glad for Jerry Horne we couldn't resist! Notes: 'Fahrt' translates to 'Journey', according to good ol' Google Translate. And now that we think about it, maybe farting (in English) is kind of like a journey... XD Pileated woodpecker (from the Edmonton & Area Land Trust page) For those interested in Canadiana: Hinterland Who's Who was a co-venture between the Environment Canada and the National Film Board of Canada started in the 1960s. They produced 60-second PSAs profiling various Canadian wildlife. Ask any Canadian who grew up into the early 1990s and they'll remember HWW. Here's the entry on the loon The meaning of Hank's domino has never "officially" been stated as far as I can tell...but Chris Mulkey claims it was meant to be another instance of doubles (the two 3's equaling 6 total on the domino) while others claim it may be linked to the number of people he's killed. The blog Twin Peaks Explained states that the change in the numbers on his domino wasn't on purpose but was simply an error, owing to the fact that the original domino was lost during production and another was substituted. My guest today is Chris Mulkey. He is a man of many talents, and I am thrilled to have him on the show! He is an actor that has appeared in countless film and TV roles going back to the mid 70's. What you may not know is that he is also an incredible musician and plays a mean guitar. Needless to say, we had a lot to talk about! We started things off by discussing his latest film "The Surface". It is out now on DVD and VOD. Most of the action takes place on a boat in the middle of Lake Michigan. His co star is Sean Astin, and both actors do an amazing job with this remote setting. Learn more at www.thesurfacemovie.com. We later turn the discussion to music, and this man has some stories! Three of his songs are included with this episode. Look for his albums on Amazon. Follow Chris on Twitter and check out his IMDB page to see his impressive list of projects both past and present. You can also find him at www.chrismulkey.com. If you reach out, please let Chris know that you heard him here first. Enjoy! If you are looking for an easy way to support this show that won't cost you anything extra, please click through this LINK whenever you shop at Amazon. It goes a long way in keeping the lights on around here. Thank you in advance!   We do not own any copyrights to the songs played on this episode. We have special permission by the artists themselves to play their music on the show for promotional purposes for the artists.
