For Information Like Degrees Offered, Annual Costs, Etc., Please Click The Banner Below: The Agricultural College Episode is designed to profile agricultural trade schools, junior colleges, colleges and universities around the U.S. This episode is an effort to replicate the conversation that prospective students, parents and ag teachers might have with agricultural schools at trade show like the National FFA Convention. Abilene Christian University is in Abilene, Texas, and in my opinion it is in the perfect location for Texas adventure and Texas agriculture. I have been on campus myself and like the area very much. ACU has had an agriculture program for some time, but with fluctuations in faculty go fluctuations in programs. So, today they are highly specialized in animal science but have no agronomy. ACU is a private, Christ based university, and on today's show Dr. Jim Carpenter joins me to talk all about it. More Places You Can Listen to Off-Farm Income And Matt Brechwald:

Greetings, fellow listeners. What is definitely my personal favorite episode of the entire podcast, my Mom and I have such a wonderful in-depth conversation with the twenty-first guest of the podcast who really means a lot to me: my 90 year-old bowling teammate Jim Carpenter. Recorded on the voice memo app on my phone in the comfort of his own house (Notice the upbeat swinging jazz music in the background), this hour and a half-long chitchat is filled with loads of amazing topics that range from Jim's previous lives as a cabinet designer and professional golf player for over six decades, to hearing is breathtaking singing skills from being a baritone opera singer for sixty years, the thrills of bowling and still killing it at 90 years of age, celebrating his 90th birthday with the entire bowling league, and discussing his massive heart attack that followed with his tedious physical rehabilitation process and his miraculous road to recovery. Believe it or not, this man has become a really big deal to my life in just a short period of three months.
Greetings, fellow listeners. Rene Rivero returns to the podcast for the third time since the beginning of the new year. He joins me and my mom to reminisce about going to see Roastmaster General Jeff Ross live at the West Palm Beach Improv the previous month, how he's been holding up the last time we saw each other, the Oscar controversy between Will Smith and Chris Rock, remembering when we went to a 50th anniversary screening of "The Godfather" and visiting my hospitalized elderly bowling teammate and good friend Jim Carpenter the previous week, and absolutely anything else to babble about for almost an hour.
Greetings, fellow listeners. Quickly recorded on the voice memo app on my phone, I captured the sounds of me and my mom recapping the visit to my 90 year-old bowling teammate and great friend Jim Carpenter, who is currently hospitalized at South Miami Baptist Hospital. I also pay tribute to legendary filmmaker Quentin Tarantino's upcoming birthday this Sunday by reciting badass, black-ass mofo Samuel L. Jackson's biblical monologue in the cinematic masterpiece "Pulp Fiction".
Greetings, fellow listeners. This is a very passionate episode because today is the birthday of my bowling teammate, Jim Carpenter. Jim turns 90 years old today and me and my bowling teammates have been flooding his inbox with the best birthday messages to remind him that he's not alone despite having four fully-grown children and grandchildren living in Orlando and him living all alone in a small apartment. Tomorrow, we will bowl and celebrate his lifetime. Hear me honor my cherished elder friend with "When I'm Sixty-Four" by the Beatles and "Old Man" by Neil Young. Happy birthday, Jim!

It may take a village to raise a barn, but Rob Rozmeski, founder of construction contracting outfit the Zackary Group, did much more than that with far fewer people. Rob knows how incredibly essential it is to have support from your community of loved ones during hard times, and knows maybe better than anyone how important it is to have four walls and a roof for those loved ones to thrive under. So when he agreed to bring our dream of a Feeding Pinellas Community Center in Lealman, we were overjoyed -- and the result has been astonishing. Tune in to hear how Rob was called to give back to his community, through the skills he acquired growing a small business into a mighty one. Then stick around to hear from FTB's own weather/handy man, Jim Carpenter, who has been holding our operation together with his own two hands for the better part of a decade. He explains how FTB acts as a first responder to cities all over the East coast of the country, and how our experience with hurricane aftermath prepared us to contend with the overwhelming need created by the Covid-19 pandemic. Follow us on social media @FeedingTampaBay to stay up to date with our latest projects and programs, and to learn how you can get involved in building a better community for all of our families to grow in.

Chad Nicholson, Pennsylvania community organizer for the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund (CELDF) joined to talk about the Trump administration’s efforts to roll back environmental protections, as well as some bright points in the fight to protect local communities and the climate at large. Nicholson and hosts Bob Schlehuber and Jamarl Thomas discussed efforts by California energy giant PG&E to escape responsibility for fires in the state, and the recent victory of a Pennsylvania community over fracking. Jim Carpenter, a member of Progressive Democrats of America’s Milwaukee chapter and a Sanders campaign volunteer, as well as Rick Banks, political director/organizer with Black Leaders Organizing for Communities (BLOC) spoke about what they saw on the ground in Wisconsin yesterday: the political weaponization of a pandemic. People risked their lives to vote in that state, in a situation made even more dangerous for some by inequalities in voting infrastructure. The four discussed that fiasco and the role Milwaukee’s history of segregation plays in enfranchisement, health and a host of other issues. Lee Camp, comedian, activist, journalist, host of the show “Redacted Tonight” on RT America, and author of the recent book, “Bullet Points & Punch Lines” to talk about the whimper the Sanders campaign ended on. In the end, playing nice didn’t help the senator from Vermont make his ideological case or overcome the institutional obstacles placed in his way. They wrangle over what chance there ever was for change in the US’ rotten electoral system, and President Trump’s continued successful deployment of the conman playbook. Then, because it’s Wednesday, we had some UFO stuff, took a jab at To The Stars Academy, were horrified by the grim prospect of rationed medical care in the US and assessed Mike Pence’s sad attempt at boosting esprit de corps.

In this episode, Charlie Huero talks with Michele Shipitofsky, CEO of Cortney’s Place. Cortney’s Place was founded due to a family (Cindy & Jim Carpenter) who was in need of care for their disabled daughter (Cortney) who was nearing the end of her high school based program when she “aged out” at the age of 22. This resulted in the creation of a day program that is a safe, engaging and innovative environment for disabled individuals who have aged-out of the public school system. Jim Carpenter Frederick Organizer Natalie Abbas Frederick Organizer Tom Smerling Maryland State Coordinator The Problem of Polarization: Political polarization did not start with the 2016 election — it’s been gaining momentum for over 20 years. But with the rancor and divisiveness that has been on display in recent years, polarization may have reached its worst level in the United States since the Civil War. Today, many believe that their political adversaries are not simply misguided, but that they are also bad people whose ways of thinking are both dangerous and incomprehensible. As Charles Krauthammer once noted, “Conservatives think Liberals are stupid, Liberals think Conservatives are evil!” The Pew Research Center, which has been measuring political polarization in the United States since 1994, recently found that the average partisan gap has increased from 15 percentage points to 36 points. The United States is disuniting. We’re becoming two Americas angry with the other and distrusting our opposites’ basic humanity and good intentions. This degree of civic rancor threatens our democracy and it’s a trend we must reverse!

Dr. Jim Carpenter's First Sight theory not only finds a role for psi in the creation of consciousness; it has a wide range of implications for what it means to be human, the nature of personal development, and potentially the development of life itself. With its focus on the importance of meaning, it has particular relevance to the practice of psychotherapy. Today on the Truth Perspective we discuss a chapter in Carpenter's book on the subject, as well as a talk he gave in which he expands...

Jim Carpenter opened the very first Wild Birds Unlimited store near his home in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1981. At the time it was one of very few bird specific retail outlets in the country, and since then, Wild Birds Unlimited has grown to include more than 300 stores across the US and Canada. His new book, The Joy of Birdfeeding, The Essential Guide to Attracting and Feeding our Backyard Birds, was published late last year. Jim joins host Nate Swick to talk about how Wild Birds Unlimited came to be, and what he thinks are the most important things people should know about feeding birds. Also, Greg Neise and Ted Floyd are back to talk about the most magical sounds of spring, duck songs. Or rather, the things that ducks do that aren't quacks. The list is pretty interesting Lady Gaga, Brad Paisley, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys among some at the Inauguration. At the Commander-in Chief’s Ball which is an event in honor of the Armed Forces some of the participants include Beyonce, James Taylor and Kelly Clarkson http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/report-lady-gaga-to-perform-at-inaugural-ball-20130119 And as promised, the funny but inadvertent photo-bombing of Kelly Clarkson by President Clinton. Photo Credit ABC News Story 2) As you know I am a huge fan of American Blues Scene’s website so much so that we here at OnTheHorn.com sent them money for their pledge drive so they can actually start printing a magazine.
