He's also a three-time Canadian National all-natural bodybuilding champion and a former Mr. Universe competitor who competed as a vegetarian—how cool is that?In this episode, Wade and I dive into our shared passion for health and fitness, inspired by none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger. Wade's story of moving to the middle of nowhere, building a gym in his barn, and his sister's battle with cancer is both inspiring and heart-wrenching.We talk a lot about supplements and the industry's evolution. Wade sheds light on the importance of quality products, especially those that address mineral deficiencies and digestive health. His company, BiOptimizers, is leading the way with innovative supplements like Magnesium Breakthrough, which has been a game-changer for my sleep and stress levels. Wade explains why this magnesium supplement stands out and how it's helped so many people, including myself.Notable Quote: “Fix your gut, and you fix everything else.” - Wade LightheartWe also explore the broader supplement market, the hype versus the reality, and the critical role of personalized nutrition and genetic factors in optimizing health. Wade's advice? Get tested, understand your body, and choose supplements that truly meet your needs. One of my favorite parts of the conversation is when Wade talks about the intersection of fitness, performance, and health. He highlights the significance of digestive enzymes, probiotics, and essential fatty acids, which are often overlooked but crucial for overall well-being.Notable Quote: “Excellence isn't a destination; it's a way of living.” - Wade LightheartWe wrap up with a discussion on the balance between chasing performance goals and maintaining long-term health, emphasizing the importance of family and a holistic approach to life.Notable Anecdote: Wade shares a hilarious yet profound story about the impact of Star Wars on his childhood and how it sparked his imagination and drive. This episode is packed with wisdom, personal stories, and actionable advice. Be with somebodyHiring a mentor is probably an underestimate, but I would say 10X, the speed of your results at a minimum. If you're going to go places by yourself, but you're gonna get there so much faster and more efficiently if you go at it with somebody. Having a mentor skyrocketed my business because I had someone who was going to at least at worst case, give me honest feedback. And then what it did was when I saw that my results were starting to really improve and my clarity was starting to improve. Then I became so much more excited about investing in other mentors and it's changed the game for me. I'll always invest in mentors, no matter how successful I am. I'll always have people in my corner.the road has been laid out so many times it's having the people around you that help you run the best race on that course at your ability level, while training to get better. We want to run the fastest race cars, change the world, give it our all work ourselves to pieces, but then we'd put water in the gas tank and expect us to win races. You have the skills already to be great at. You have everything you need, you have discipline because you're running your own business that takes a lot of discipline. You have the drive to get better, the drive to improve. Have a system for being great at whatever you do. Have a system that you follow. It doesn't have to be a robotic unenjoyable, torture based system, which is oftentimes promoted out there, or at least was promoted for a while. You just have to have something that you can wake up every day and go. The number one thing I see people do is over complicate things, especially when it comes to diet, this isn't always the consumer or the person finished trying to follow a plan's fault. I do believe in personal responsibility, of course, but the diet and fitness industry has preyed on consumers by trying to over-complicate things, trying to constantly sell. We start to believe that there's like a secret roadmap to fitness success. When we talk about reality, it's actually so simple that at times I laugh because at times I think, man I feel like the information we put out might or could have the opportunity to wipe out like the entire fitness marketing machine that's out there. Because when you really break it down, it's so darn simple that at times I even get frustrated with myself at how complicated I've made it in the past. So over complication is number one. Besides not having a system. Once you get the simple system in place that you can wake up every day and go and enjoy it. It works. Because you have the blueprint, you have the secret formula you, all you have to do is execute.Maximized method From a general perspective, 9 times out of 10, when I talk to successful people who are trying to lose weight or look better naked, they've overcomplicated it and thus, they don't get those what ends up happening. It's like a it's spiralling out of control. They over-complicate, it. So they get frustrated, so they give up, and then they start the whole process over again. So we got to break that cycle, make it simple, fun, enjoyable, and effective. You get that down. Its game on from there. And of course, when you already got turmoil and a crazy busy lifestyle, and you try to add this complicated routine to your life. It's just a recipe for disaster, right? It's like throwing gas on a fire. It's never going to work. And of course, when you already got turmoil and a crazy busy lifestyle, and you try to add this complicated routine to your life. It's just a recipe for disaster, right? It's like throwing gas on a fire. It's never going to work.So what ends up happening is people adopt a simple approach that works and they start to see success. And there's two things that happen. There's a couple different personalities, but one thing that tends to happen is they start to go if it can be this easy to lose this much, then I should be losing a lot more. There is some very basic and simple stuff you can do to reach a really good level of success. But then you start comparing yourself to the fitness freak models, whatever you want to call them, who are like so miserable to get into peak condition and you go why am I not there yet? Comparison starts to leak into your joy and starts to rob you of it. So they end up self-sabotaging why, because deep down inside, they've already had this self-doubt they're dealing with. The other personality is you start to get a little success and think that you now are deserving of the old way of doing things. You haven't broken the habits and routines yet. You haven't solidified new habits and routines yet. You think you have right. You get some success three weeks in, you lost six to eight pounds or whatever, and you go, you know what? I deserve a week off. What really that is it's that emotional brain that hasn't completely adopted to. Or adapted to the new habits and routines that's creeping in that still wants that comfort that eat whatever I want. Take out sushi every night, which I would love to do, but it's just not possible. If you won't resolve, watch Netflix, don't go do my steps. Like all the things that are temporary feelings of comfort. And then of course, lead to regret after you're done. So you have these two sides and both are forms of self-sabotage. So the key is. When you start to get some success, you have to lean into the process even more, right? You have to double down.Five, three, you got to worry about with fitness, which is meals or macros, wherever you want to call it meals or macros movement and muscle, training your body to get stronger. Those three things are the two dues. The other two things are mental, your mindset and your meaning, mindset being, how are we talking to ourselves? How are we taking care of our brain, right? Are we, like we said earlier, slowing down, being present, breathing, and then the meaning is, why the heck are we doing this? So we have to have those five things in place. The three, to dos. Everybody talks about cardio movement, muscle macros, but then the meaning and mindset, or would bring it all together.  And allow you to have that daily check in with yourself to know if you're on the right track. Because when you have only five things to worry about three of which are to do is really then you can easily figure out if you're on the right track Our parts of your brain back to where they need to be. It's never going away that when we look at fitness, it’s like the cloud climb Mount Everest. And what ends up happening is people who climb Mount Everest, they'll say yeah, I reached the top, but the hardest part was coming down. And then even more hard part after that was determining when I could climb it again. It's a never ending thing. Like they get addicted to it because it's, so it's such a challenge, all parts of it. And it takes so much planning. There's always another mountain to climb afterwards too. . There's always going to be another target and it's a never ending thing. And you got to think of fitness as the fountain of youth. That's really what it is, and there's never going to be a time. Your body is a temple. You have to understand that what you put in your body and how you treat your body. It's always going to show up and the most important parts of your life. It will always catch up to you. We got to take care of our body so much better. Then we take care of all that materialistic stuff. Because without your health and I'm not talking about a six pack, I'm talking about feeling good, looking good, performing well, yeah, that's all I'm out here. Those things have to be prioritized. You got to move your body 30 minutes a day That is non-negotiable because that is your vehicle for success10 Minute RulePart of the philosophy is the 10 minute rule. And it's this idea that we can do pretty much anything for 10 minutes. Pretty much anything, right? You could go for a walk for 10 minutes. You could prep a healthy meal for 10 minutes. You could meditate for 10 minutes. You can get it done. What ends up happening is in our minds, we have so much going on. So start with the smallest victory possible, the smallest amount possible, which in my thought is 10 minutes or five minutes. You can do what you can do one minute. There's no right or wrong there. What it does is it teaches you that you're capable of way more than you think. Assuming you start with the first step, and stop worrying about 20 steps from now, stop worrying about what you're getting. It's like getting to the base of Mount Everest. So you got to just focus on the smallest victory possible because what that does, then it builds momentum. We got to trick ourselves. We got to play I talk about the emotional versus logical brain all the time. Your emotional brain is always in charge. That is the truth. So you negotiate, you say I'm going to wait 10 minutes and then if I still want it, then I'll go have it. If I don't, if I wait 10 minutes, I might not want it. And you wait 10 minutes and all of a sudden you go, why did I want that chocolate? I'll just go eat the chicken. What's the big deal? Cause you basically give yourself the opportunity to win and then you start to build self-belief, which leads to momentum, which leads to that lovely word of motivation.Perfection is a myth. First of all, perfection isn't required. You don't have to be perfect to get what you want. We set realistic expectations. Let's start with little wins versus thinking we've got to scrap the whole thing. The more simple and fun a plan is the easier it's going to be to adhere to. the only way to win in life as a human, as an entrepreneur, as a husband, as a father, as a wife, as a mother, as a person is to take care of your vessel, to take care of your temple, to take care of your vehicle, pick your analogy. There is no lower hanging fruit than fitness when it comes to improving all areas of your life. Have aggressive patients go after what you want and utilize fitness for the amazing tool. That it is and all parts of your life.

So often, life gets in the way of our goals and before we know it, we haven’t achieved anything - but with careful planning, that doesn’t have to be the case. How can we plan our future more effectively and how can we stop feeling overwhelmed by big goals? If we’re aiming to get our families to be more active, how should we be approaching this goal? On this episode, author, podcast host and fitness coach, Josiah Novak, shares how to plan more effectively for the years ahead.    You have to be willing to accept that everyone has flaws, and not sit in a state of mind where you can’t move forward. -Josiah Novak   Three Takeaways    Plan proactively. A lot of us miss out on reaching our goals because life gets in the way and we lose focus. The best way to combat this is by planning proactively and putting in the work to reach our goals now, before anything can distract us.   With any goals (whether fitness, finance or family related), tackle them in small, manageable steps. Set goal checkpoints throughout the year to monitor progress.   If our goal is to get our families to be more active, we have to do it the right way. That means not forcing anything on them. Instead, set time aside to be active together where everyone feels supported.   At the start of this episode, we spoke about the importance of forgiveness. After discussing our shared experiences of physical and emotional abuse, we explained why it’s vital to let go of the past if we want to move forward.   We also discussed:  Why we need to take accountability for every aspect of our lives The importance of treating others as we’d like to be treated That all the answers we need are within; we just have to get to a higher vibration to hear them   Guest Bio-  Josiah Novak is the owner of The True Transformation. Josiah is an online fitness coach, an author, a podcaster, and a father to two adorable boys. This was my first real chat with him and his story is incredible. He started out thinking he was going to go to law school to one day become a lawyer. Then, after playing college baseball, he had an identity crisis when he realized he wasn't going to go to the major leagues. Finally, after multiple odd jobs in sales, he started working as a personal trainer at a gym he would describe as similar to "The Wolf of Wall Street." All of this on top of coming from an abusive childhood. Despite having all odds against him, he's had success for years as a coach and prides himself on being the father to his kids that he never had.    JOSIAH NOVAK Gentlemen, I'm stoked to introduce you to my guest today, Mr. Josiah Novak. I met Josiah through a mutual friend a little over a year ago and through getting to know him over the past year, I can tell you he is the real deal. I think it's easy for us to assume that these fitness guys have always had the perfect physique but what I admire about Josiah is that he has gone through his own transformation of losing over 80lbs and is now dedicated to helping men around the world do the same in their lives. You're going to hear that he's not all marketing and hype and another one of "those guys" but a real person who has learned to take a practical no-nonsense approach to the way we move, how we exercise, and what we eat.
