“If you only live once, then you better be damn sure to make it so that once is enough.” -Britt AmslerEvery person deserves the opportunity to live a life of freedom. But in today's social structure, freedom happens only in our dreams. Often, we find ourselves caged in a busy work schedule, toxic relationships, past experiences, and more. But if we really really yearn for that freedom, we should be willing to walk on a path that we've never been before. Britt Amsler was all set to launch his book when an unexpected turn took this opportunity away. He got fired from his job and his reputation tarnished. With all the years he spent in one industry, Britt was left hopeless about what tomorrow may bring. Yet, even in this seemingly dark moment, Britt found what most people want in life- freedom. But the path was not all rainbows. In this episode, we get a glimpse of Britt's book, Here I Go Again, and lessons we can learn about living and loving the free life, what it takes to be free, and what it means to walk the path of freedom. Joy and Britt also talk about why we should take a chance on ourselves, what the word “confidence” means, how our upbringing may sometimes hinder our potential, and why we should not wish to live somebody else's life. We only live once, so that means we give no room for regret. Sarah Joy Brown talks her time on "General Hospital", how she got her SAG card, what's next, and the very important audition where she was sent to the wrong place!About Sarah Joy Brown:Brown was born in Eureka, California to parents David and Pamela Brown. She attended the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts as a theatre major. Her acting career began at the age of 19, when she was cast as Kaitlin Star on Saban's syndicated action adventure science fantasy series, VR Troopers. In 1996, she made a guest appearance in a 3-part episode of Power Rangers Zeo playing Heather Thompson, a girl who has a crush on the Red Ranger's secret identity, Tommy Oliver, but it never leads anywhere. An article in FOX Kids Magazine claimed a member of the VR Troopers cast would be quitting the series to become a part of the Power Rangers cast, however the aforementioned Zeo three-parter and Brad Hawkins voicing the Gold Ranger prior to the return of Austin St. John as Jason Lee Scott is the closest anything like this ever came to happening. In April 1996, Brown originated the role Carly Corinthos on the American ABC soap opera General Hospital. Brown "quickly became an overnight sensation" and received three Daytime Emmy Awards for her portrayal of Carly. She won for Outstanding Younger Actress in 1997 and 1998, was nominated in 1999,and won again for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 2000. Brown returned to General Hospital on January 31, 2008 in the role of Claudia Zacchara  left in mid October 2009. In 2010, she received her first Daytime Emmy nomination in the Lead Actress category for her work as Claudia Zacchara. After leaving General Hospital, Brown guest-starred on several television series, including Crossing Jordan, Strong Medicine and Without a Trace. She returned to daytime in the role of Julia Morrisey Larrabee on As the World Turns from August 2004 to March 2005, in which she appeared in 109 episodes. In 2004, Brown played the lead role of Kate Vignatti in the fact-based television movie The Perfect Husband: The Laci Peterson Story. She became a regular on the popular CBS crime drama Cold Case in the fall of 2005 but was let go after only a few months (she appeared in five episodes) with the series. In 2006, she starred in her first feature film, the comedy, Big Momma's House 2 and appeared in an episode of Monk the same year. Brown was also seen in the third season episode 12 of The Closer and on a 2007 episode of the Foxpolice drama K-Ville.In 2014, Brown played Massachusetts State Representative Katherine "Kate" Wesley in the soap opera web series Beacon Hill. She was nominated for a 2015 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in a New Approaches Drama Series, and won a 2015 Indie Series Award for Best Lead Actress (Drama) for the role.Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/isarahjoybrown/Twitter: https://twitter.com/sarahjoybrownFollow the show on social media!                 Instagram: https://instagram.com/thanksforcominginpodcast/                 Twitter: https://twitter.com/tfci_podcast                  Facebook: http://facebook.com/thanksforcominginpodcast/                    Theme Music by Andrew Skrabutenas

Krystal Joy Brown is a singer, dancer and actor who made her Broadway debut in 2009 in Hair. She is best known for her portrayal of Diana Ross in the Broadway musical Motown: The Musical. Her other Broadway credits include Leap of Faith, Big Fish, and Hamilton, where she will return to the role of Eliza when the industry returns. She is also a two-time Adele and Fred Astaire nominee for best female dancer in a Broadway show. Krystal voices the character of Netossa in the DreamWorks/Netflix animated series She-Ra Princesses of Power, and her other TV appearances include the Disney film MAGIC CAMP (Disney+), NBC’s Law & Order: SUV, Hulu’s Deadbeat, ABC’s Castle, Disney’s Sydney to the Max, and most recently, Hallmark Channels "One Royal Holiday" with Aaron Tveit & Laura Osnes. Krystal is an avid activist in mental health, wellness, and social justice, and co-host’s the podcast, HOW WE DO THIS. Krystal grew up in the DC area, part of a family where many worked for the government - her mother for FEMA, her grandparents for the Pentagon, and her father as a police officer. For Krystal, being civilly and civically engaged was ingrained early on, and was always important. She recently hosted several virtual letter writing parties with VoteWriters.org, an organization that focuses on providing Voter ID assistance, which is now assisting Georgia voters for the runoff election. During our conversation Krystal illustrates how she has brought her activism to her art. While performing in Motown: The Musical, and in the streets protesting Treyvon Martin’s murder, she created a podcast called HOW WE DO THIS (a “female feminist political podcast”), which became a platform for conversations about mental health. And now, as part of the company of Hamilton, she takes an active role on the Hamilton Racial Justice Task Force. Krystal also champions self care. She opens up about going to therapy for the first time, and how it helped unlock her ability to be vulnerable onstage, and more deeply connect with audiences as Eliza Hamilton. In this episode, we talk about:  Growing up in a politically active family  Her reaction to the 2016 election  AOC, and being “radical”  Ancestral healing  The Hamilton Racial Justice Task Force  The importance of understanding and processing your internal life, before using it in your work onstage Connect with KJB: On the web: https://www.thekjb.com Twitter: @KrystalJoyBrown Instagram: @KrystalJoyBrown Connect with The Theatre Podcast: Support us on Patreon: Patreon.com/TheTheatrePodcast Twitter & Instagram: @theatre_podcast Facebook.com/OfficialTheatrePodcast TheTheatrePodcast.com Alan's personal Instagram: @alanseales Email me at feedback@thetheatrepodcast.com.
