Thursday is tearing around the track as we share the UAW whispers we're hearing out there. We also talk about a new report on the EV gender gap, as well as the reasons Fall sees the most car accidents. UAW Update: Yesterday was a day with minimal fanfare but a few steps forward: Stellantis submitted a new contract proposal to the UAW, marking its fifth offer since negotiations began, which centered on "subcommittee open issues."This is the first new proposal from any of the Detroit 3 automakers since the UAW began their strike on September 15.UAW President Shawn Fain still threatens to escalate the strike, adding more workers to the picket lines, if "serious progress" isn't made by the union's Friday deadline.GM disclosed details of its latest offer, promising raises totaling 20% over the next four years, resulting in top wages reaching $39.24 by 2027. They also reduced the number of years it takes for new hires to reach the top pay tier from eight to fourGM's President Mark Reuss pushed back on what the company has called ‘misinformation' in an op-ed.  The company reiterated that their proposal would equalize wages across roles, potentially raising base wages for 85% of GM's workforce to around $82,000 annually and $150,000 when factoring in items like benefits and overtime.Reuss criticized the UAW's demands, emphasizing GM's significant investments into its employees and noting the company's financial contributions, including a net income of roughly $65 billion from 2013 to 2022A recent survey by Edmunds reveals that men are more likely to purchase EVs than women, with 67% of EV buyers in 2023 being men and 33% women. This gender disparity in EV purchasing is greater than that in the overall U.S. car market, where 59% of buyers are men and 41% are women. And the reasons they buy EVs couldn't be further apartMen tend to purchase EVs driven by the novelty and the excitement of owning new technology, with brand loyalty playing a significant role. In contrast, women prioritize practical aspects like value and range. The average EV price, close to $60,000, is a concern. Women show a preference for EVs priced under $30,000 leaning towards plug-in hybrids as a bridge between traditional and fully-electric cars. We're only two days away from the first day of Fall.  Known for its fall foliage and pumpkin spice, the coming season also sees the highest number of vehicle accidents according to our friends at CARFAX.Contrary to the common belief that winter sees the highest number of crashes, over 72% of U.S. drivers, equating to about 170 million, reside in states where Fall contains the most crashesReasons for fall accidents include reduced daylight leading to more night-time driving, slippery roads due to wet leaves, and deer mating season increasing deer-related collisions.Hosts: Paul J Daly and Kyle MountsierGet the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/ Read our most recent email at: https://www.asotu.com/media/push-back-email ASOTU Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/automotivestateoftheunion

In the capital, there are 102 public chargers per 100,000 of population, while at the other end of the scale Northern Ireland has just 18 per 100,000. - The average provision across the UK is 42 per 100,000. - DfT says its information is provided by the EV charge point app Zap-Map, which claims to record 95 per cent of all available devices. The government's own database (the National Chargepoint Registry) records fewer than 20,000 public charge points nationwide - Zap-Map doesn't record how many cars can be charged by a single charge point device, so the true picture of charge capacity is likely to be higher than the stated number, the DfT says. The new electric Silverado will not be a modified version of the gasoline- or diesel-powered truck equipped with batteries and electric motors. Instead, it will be engineered from the beginning as an electric-only truck, GM said, using the same Ultium electric vehicle engineering that will underlie many of the automaker's future electric vehicles, including the GMC Hummer EV models and the Cadllac Lyriq SUV."   "The company did not immediately say when the electric Silverado will go on sale, but GM president Mark Reuss said at an event on Tuesday that the company will also make commercial fleet-focused versions of the truck. GM has been teasing an electric Silverado for months now. It previously said it may not release a pickup EV until mid-decade and hadn’t officially announced the truck was coming until Tuesday." according to The Verge: "The electric Silverado will be made at “Factory Zero,” the recently rebranded Detroit-Hamtramck plant dedicated to EVs and AVs that GM is currently retooling at a cost of more than $2 billion. It’s the same plant where GM will build the all-electric Hummer SUV and Hummer pickup. The Silverado is so important to GM that it’s currently selling versions of the truck that are missing a microchip that helps improve fuel economy thanks to the global semiconductor shortage."   "Shares of General Motors closed at a new record Tuesday after the automaker confirmed plans to produce an all-electric Chevrolet Silverado pickup at an assembly plant for EVs that’s under construction in Detroit. The electric Silverado is part of a previously announced $2.2 billion investment in the plant to produce an array of its next-generation EVs" says CNBC: "he new vehicles are part of GM’s plan to release 30 new EVs globally by 2025 under a $27 billion investment in electric and autonomous vehicles during that time frame. The company plans to sell at least 1 million EVs annually by then."   https://edition.cnn.com/2021/04/06/success/gm-electric-chevy-silverado-pickup/index.html   https://www.theverge.com/2021/4/6/22370058/gm-chevy-electric-silverado-pickup-truck   https://www.cnbc.com/2021/04/06/gm-shares-hit-new-record-on-plans-for-electric-chevy-silverado-pickup.html   DID POLESTAR JUST TEASE A HOTTER VERSION OF THE POLESTAR 2 EV? "Polestar is Volvo’s sporty and electrified arm and it currently has one pure-EV in its lineup, the Polestar 2. It’s about as close a rival as we currently have to the Tesla Model 3, although it’s not quite as quick as the Model 3 Performance. Well, that could change with a more aggressive performance version of the Polestar 2, which appears to be what the CEO of Polestar seems to have hinted at via a couple of recent Instagram posts." says InsideEVs; "Thomas Ingenlath posted two photos of what appears to be a sportier version of the Polestar 2 EV. How can we tell? Well, the car clearly sits lower on its suspension and it looks like it’s riding on wheels borrowed from the more exclusive Polestar 1 (albeit completely blacked out). The front bumper is also different - the lower part is painted in the body color. The plastic cladding around the wheel arches is also finished in the body color and with the bumper, the black wheels and the visibly lower ride height, it looks like a far more focused vehicle than the standard car".   https://insideevs.com/news/499218/polestar2-performance-hot-version-teaser-ceo/   VOLKSWAGEN MEB-BASED ELECTRIC CARS WILL BE V2G FROM 2022 "During its Power Day in March, Volkswagen said it was moving ahead with vehicle to grid (V2G) bi-directional battery charging technology. Now it’s official. In an interview with Handelsblatt this week, Volkswagen board member Thomas Ulbricht said, “The test vehicles are running. We are in the last [phases] with the preparations.”" reports CleanTechnica: "Beginning in January, 2022, every electric car from the Volkswagen Group that uses the MEB electrical platform — that includes cars from Audi, Skoda, and Seat-Cupra — will be able to not only charge from the electrical grid but also able to return electricity to the grid on demand. Ulbricht explains that expanded business models relating to the battery are just one component of a much more fundamental change in the automotive industry that will be triggered by digitization. Volkswagen sees itself monetizing all that stored electricity by making it available to utility companies and grid operators. Some of the income would go to the owners of the cars. Handelsblatt says in the final analysis, automakers may have the upper hand. They provide the warranty coverage for those batteries and can adjust their warranties to favor the use of their own networks."   https://cleantechnica.com/2021/04/06/all-volkswagen-meb-based-electric-cars-will-be-v2g-capable-beginning-in-2022/   SALES OF NISSAN E-POWER ELECTRIFIED VEHICLES IN JAPAN SURPASSES 500,000 "Nissan announced that cumulative sales of vehicles with its e-POWER electrified powertrain (earlier post) surpassed 500,000 units at the end of March. The e-POWER system uses a highly efficient gasoline engine to generate electricity for the electric motor that propels the vehicle. For customers, this delivers EV-like excitement, quietness and smooth acceleration, but with the confidence and convenience that comes with a fuel tank, and without the need to plug in to recharge." according to Green Car Congress: "e-POWER made its debut in Japan on the Note compact car in November 2016. In February 2021, the all-new Nissan Qashqai recently debuted in the European market with an e-POWER model announced following the mild-hybrid model, marking the first offering of e-POWER in the continent."   https://www.greencarcongress.com/2021/04/20210406-epower.html   NISSAN CUTS COST OF LEAF TO QUALIFY FOR PLUG-IN GRANT "Price reductions for the 40kWh and 62kWh versions of the Nissan Leaf have been announced to ensure the electric vehicle (EV) qualifies for the plug-in car grant. All grades of the Nissan Leaf and both battery capacities (40kWh and 62kWh) are now eligible for the revised grant, with pricing now starting from £25,995 OTR (including the Government grant of £2,500)." writes Fleet News: "Peugeot revised pricing for all e-2008 models and enhanced deposit contributions for the e-208 range in response to the grant cut.  Peugeot’s price cut came after Vauxhall reduced the prices of its Mokka-e and Vivaro-e so that all its electric models are eligible for the revised plug-in grant.  Fellow Stellantis brand Citroen confirmed price cuts to its new e-C4 model following the changes to the grant.  BMW also announced it was cutting the cost of its i3 electric car last week, to ensure customers can still take advantage of the Government’s plug-in grant."   https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/latest-fleet-news/electric-fleet-news/2021/04/06/nissan-cuts-cost-of-leaf-to-qualify-for-plug-in-grant   UK EV REGISTRATIONS CONTINUE THEIR RISE UK new car registrations ‘grow’ for first time since August – up 11.5% – but remain -36.9% adrift of 10-year March average. The shift to new technologies is continuing, however, with plug-in vehicle demand reaching its highest ever volume. Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) took a combined market share of 13.9%, up from 7.3% last year as the number of models available to customers increased from 72 to 116. Registrations of BEVs increased by 88.2% to 22,003 units, while PHEVs rose by 152.2% to 17,330. Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) also rose 42.0% to reach 21,599 registrations.   https://www.smmt.co.uk/2021/04/the-only-way-is-up-for-new-car-registrations-as-showrooms-look-to-reopen/   US ELECTRIC CAR INCENTIVE IS RUMORED TO INCREASE TO $10,000 IN PROGRAM REFORM "The US federal government is currently looking to include a ramp-up of investments in electrification as part of a massive infrastructure bill. It’s unclear how the money will be spent, but we are now hearing that the electric car tax credit could increase to $10,000." says electrek:" Now Wedbush analyst Dan Ives, one of the top-rated analysts that follow the electric vehicle market, says that the rumor in Washington is that the new incentive will be $10,000"     QUESTION OF THE WEEK WITH EMOBILITYNORWAY.COM   What EV do you want to see your favourite car maker launch which they haven’t already?     It would mean a lot if you could take 2mins to leave a quick review on whichever platform you download the podcast.   And  if you have an Amazon Echo, download our Alexa Skill, search for EV News Daily and add it as a flash briefing.   Come and say hi on Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter just search EV News Daily, have a wonderful day, I’ll catch you tomorrow and remember…there’s no such thing as a self-charging hybrid.     PHIL ROBERTS / ELECTRIC FUTURE (PREMIUM PARTNER) BRAD CROSBY (PREMIUM PARTNER) PORSCHE OF THE VILLAGE CINCINNATI (PREMIUM PARTNER) AUDI CINCINNATI EAST (PREMIUM PARTNER) VOLVO CARS CINCINNATI EAST (PREMIUM PARTNER) NATIONALCARCHARGING.COM and ALOHACHARGE.COM  (PREMIUM PARTNER) DEREK REILLY FROM THE EV REVIEW IRELAND YOUTUBE CHANNEL (PREMIUM PARTNER) RICHARD AT RSEV.CO.UK – FOR BUYING AND SELLING EVS IN THE UK (PREMIUM PARTNER) eMOBILITY NORWAY HTTPS://WWW.EMOBILITYNORWAY.COM/  (PREMIUM PARTNER)     DAVID AND LISA ALLEN (PARTNER) GARETH HAMER (PARTNER) BOB BOOTHBY FROM MILLBROOK COTTAGES – 5* GOLD SELF CATERING COTTAGES (PARTNER) DARIN MCLESKEY FROM DENOVO REAL ESTATE (PARTNER) JUKKA KUKONEN FROM WWW.SHIFT2ELECTRIC.COM RAJEEV NARAYAN (PARTNER) IAIN SEAR (PARTNER)   ADRIAN BOND (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ALAN SHEDD (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ALEX BANAHENE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ALEXANDER FRANK @ https://www.youtube.com/c/alexsuniverse42 ANDERS HOVE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ANDREA JEFFERSON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ANDREW GREEN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ANDY NANCARROW AND LILIAN KASS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ASEER KHALID (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) BÅRD FJUKSTAD (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) BLUNDERBUSS JONES (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER BRIAN THOMPSON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) BRUCE BOHANNAN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) CHARLES HALL (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) CHRIS HOPKINS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) CHRISTOPHER BARTH (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) COLIN HENNESSY AND CAMBSEV (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) CRAIG ROGERS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DAMIEN DAVIS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DAVID FINCH (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DAVID MOORE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DAVID PARTINGTON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DAVID PRESCOTT (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DC EV (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DON MCALLISTER / SCREENCASTSONLINE.COM (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ED CORTREEN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ERIC HANSEN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ERU KYEYUNE-NYOMBI (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) FREDRIK ROVIK (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) GENE RUBIN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) HEDLEY WRIGHT (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) HEINRICH LIESNER (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) IAN GRIFFITHS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) IAN (WATTIE) WATKINS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JACK OAKLEY (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JAMES STORR (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JAVIER CARMELO DÍAZ PÉREZ (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JIM MORRIS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JOHN SCHROEDER (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JON AKA BEARDY MCBEARDFACE FROM KENT EVS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JON MANCHAK (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JUAN GONZALEZ (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) KEVIN MEYERSON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) LAURENCE D ALLEN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) LEE BROWN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) LUKE CULLEY (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) MARCEL WARD (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) MARTY YOUNG  (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) MIA OPPELSTRUP (PARTNER) MIKE WINTER (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) NATHAN GORE-BROWN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) NATHANIEL FREEDMAN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) NEIL E ROBERTS FROM SUSSEX EVS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) OHAD ASTON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) PAUL STEPHENSON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) PETE GLASS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) PETE GORTON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) PETER & DEE ROBERTS FROM OXON EVS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) PHIL MOUCHET (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) PHILIP TRAUTMAN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) RAYMOND ROWLEDGE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) RENE KEEMIK (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) RENÉ SCHNEIDER (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ROB FROM THE RSTHINKS EV CHANNEL ON YOUTUBE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ROBERT GRACE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) RUPERT MITCHELL (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) SEIKI PAYNE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) STEPHEN PENN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) STEVE JOHN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) THOMAS J. Show #688   Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Wednesday 5th February 2020. It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story to save you time.   Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too.   ELECTRIFY AMERICA COMPLETES 400 EV CHARGING STATIONS "Electrify America confirmed that they completed the installation of their first 400 EV charging stations only 20 months after starting the deployment" says Electrek: "They started deployment less than two years ago, and today, they confirmed that they have already achieved their initial goal of deploying 400 stations, including over 1,700 charge points. Brendan Jones, COO of Electrify America, confirmed the news to Electrek, but he clarified that while all the stations are deployed, some of them still need to be activated and are awaiting approval from the local electric utility. All of the company’s highway fast-charging stations are equipped to charge vehicles at up to 350 kW, even though most electric cars on the road today can’t receive that much power. The company says that they are planning for the future EV fleet as much as five years ahead. They also have 150 kW in urban areas for city charging."   https://electrek.co/2020/02/03/electrify-america-400-ev-charging-station-tesla-supercharger-rollout/   BIGGEST EU TESLA CHARGE PARK YET PLANNED IN GERMANY "Tesla’s largest fast-charging park in the EU will soon go online on a plot of land owned by bakery Roland Schüren at the Hilden motorway junction (A3/A46) near Düsseldorf." according to electrive: "According to local media reports, “on February 14th, a 16-pallet supercharger with a 1-megawatt transformer will initially go into operation there”. Tesla intends to build a total of 40 stalls of the latest generation V3 chargers with a peak output of up to 250 kilowatts at the Hilden intersection."   https://www.electrive.com/2020/02/03/biggest-european-tesla-charge-park-yet-planned-in-germany/   GM'S EV DAY "General Motors will be hosting an "EV Day" on the 4th of March. The announcement came from President Mark Reuss during the company's Capital Markets Day presentation on Wednesday. Besides helping to communicate the extent of this monumental shift at the country's largest automaker, we expect to learn a few specifics about its future EV plans." says Domenick at InsideEVs: "While the near-term will bring a refreshed Bolt EV for 2021, and (hopefully) the rumored Bolt EUV (electric utility vehicle), GM's electric future well and truly gets underway when it starts to roll out product based on its "BEV3" program. This is where the focus, future product-wise, at least, will be during GM's EV Day next month. We already know that the new 2022 Hummer EV truck will be the first BEV3 vehicle to be produced, starting in the Fall of 2021"   https://insideevs.com/news/397039/gm-ev-day-electric-future/   EVS CONTINUE SALES SUCCESS IN JANUARY 2020 FIGURES "The UK electric vehicle market continues to go from strength to strength, as the number of pure-electric cars tops the 100,000 mark in January 2020 - seeing registrations up more than 200% compared to last year." according to Chris at Next Green Car: "The latest set of statistics rom the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) shows that more than 4,000 pure-electric cars were registered during the month. This figure, combined with more than 4,750 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) cars sold made January second best performing month in history in terms of electric vehicle market share at 5.9%. Total plug-in car registrations - pure-EVs and PHEVs combined - is now more than 273,000 units in the UK. Whilst still representing a relatively small proportion of the overall car market in the UK, it is clear that the demand is there from customers, as sales continue to grow as new models go on sale and greater numbers of EVs become available. Diesel sales continue to drop - -36% in January"   https://www.nextgreencar.com/news/8849/evs-continue-sales-success-in-january-2020-figures/   HERO’S NEW 53 MPH ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLE "Hero Electric has taken to the Auto Expo 2020 show to unveil its first electric motorcycle, the Hero Electric AE-47, among other new personal electric mobility vehicles." says Micah at Electrek: "The AE-47 was unveiled today with a listed top speed of 85 km/h (53 mph) generated from a 4kW (5.3 hp) continuous-rated rear hub motor. While that isn’t likely to make the AE-47 feel at home on the highway, it’s certainly sufficient as a light electric motorcycle for city use."   https://electrek.co/2020/02/05/heros-new-53-mph-electric-motorcycle-gets-100-mile-range-estimated-under-2k/   TESLA TO UTILIZE SIDE CAMERAS TO HELP DRIVERS BACK UP @teslaownersSV Can we get the side cameras to show up when backing up?   @elonmusk Yes   Teslarati reports: "Tesla vehicles have eight cameras that practically serve as the eyes of the vehicle, giving it a 360-degree view of its environment. When backing up though, drivers rely only on the rearview camera and sensors to park. Being able to utilize the side cameras will give drivers a better view of any spots they want to back up into, thereby reducing annoying incidents of wheel rash, dings, or in some cases, dents."   https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-side-cameras-back-up-assist-elon-musk/   AMAZON AND RIVIAN DISH DETAILS ON THEIR NEW ELECTRIC DELIVERY VAN "Rivian may be best known for its upcoming R1T electric pickup truck, but Amazon may give the startup the most exposure yet. After detailing plans of a partnership between the online retail giant and the electric vehicle maker, the two surprised with plans to create a purpose-built electric van for Amazon deliveries." reports CNET: "On Tuesday, both companies gave us a closer look at what's going on behind the scenes to bring this package delivery vehicle to lifeThe cockpit will include a totally digital instrument cluster, central screen with Alexa built-in (obviously) and Amazon's logistics management. Drivers won't need any external devices for mapping and Alexa will handle all voice commands to keep workers from entering information manually. We'll first see the vans hit the road in 2021 with a deployment of 10,000. Then, a total of 100,000 of them will be on the streets delivering packages by 2030."   https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/rivian-amazon-electric-delivery-van-design-features-2021/   SHELL DOUBLES ULTRARAPID-CHARGING STATIONS IN GERMANY "In addition to the already planned 50 HPC columns with 150 kW that Shell is building with the energy supplier EnBW, the oil company is now promising another 50 HPC columns in a second wave, apparently primarily in northern Germany." picks up electrive: "Shell, for example, took over the German battery manufacturer Sonnen in February 2019, the charging infrastructure specialist NewMotion in October 2018 and, at the beginning of the year, the US company Greenlots, which also focuses on this field. In mid-December, Shell installed the first HPC column in Germany at the filling station in Reutlingen."   https://www.electrive.com/2020/02/05/shell-doubles-fast-charging-stations-in-germany/   NEW QUESTION OF THE WEEK The MYEV.com Question Of The Week…   On a scale on 1-10, (1 being not at all, 10 being completely) how much does/did environment come into your love of EVs?   I want to say a heartfelt thank you to the 231 patrons of this podcast whose generosity means I get to keep making this show, which aims to entertain and inform thousands of listeners every day about a brighter future. A ritual of regional togetherness is no more. The annual “Big Four” gathering of the Detroit Mayor and the three county executives from Wayne, Oakland and Macomb will not happen this year around the North American International Auto Show. Today there’s word that Paul Whelan has been indicted on espionage charges. A couple bits of news from General Motors. Turnaround If you happen to be in a jazz band, a turnaround -- chords that take you back to an earlier part of the song -- is something easy that you do all the time. If you're an executive in the auto industry, a turnaround is a massive undertaking with no guarantee of success. Welcome to Mark Reuss' world. As a GM legacy, Mark's father Lloyd was president of General Motors in the early '90s, he witnessed the ups and downs of this automotive giant from a closer vantage point than others. As the boss' son and then an employee, he rode the company roller coaster like everyone else until, as a corporate executive, he was there when they finally ran out of track and declared bankruptcy. But since that point the GM turnaround has taken hold. And as head of North America, earlier this year Mark's operation helped GM achieve its largest profit since 2004. There's still a lot more work to be done but things are back on the right track...and right now there's plenty of it. This week on Autoline, GM's Mark Reuss joins John McElroy and his panel to discuss GM, its brands and where it goes from here.
