An enduring paradox of urban public health is that many communities around hospitals are economically distressed and, counterintuitively, medically underserved. In The City and the Hospital two sociologists, Jonathan R. Wynn and Berkeley Franz, and a political scientist, Daniel Skinner, track the multiple causes of this problem and offer policy solutions. Focusing on three urban hospitals—Connecticut's Hartford Hospital, the flagship of the Hartford Healthcare system; the Cleveland Clinic, which coordinates with other providers for routine care while its main campus provides specialty care; and the University of Colorado Hospital, a rare example of an urban institution that relocated to a new community—the authors analyze the complicated relationship between a hospital and its neighborhoods. On the one hand, hospitals anchor the communities that surround them, often staying in a neighborhood for decades. Hospitals also craft strategies to engage with the surrounding community, many of those focused on buying locally and hiring staff from their surrounding area. On the other hand, hospitals will often only provide care to the neighboring community through emergency departments, reserving advanced medical care and long-term treatment for those who can pay a premium for it. In addition, the authors show, hospitals frequently buy neighborhood real estate and advocate for development programs that drive gentrification and displacement. To understand how urban healthcare institutions work with their communities, the authors address power, history, race, and urbanity as much as the workings of the medical industry. These varied initiatives and effects mean that understanding urban hospitals requires seeing them in a new light—not only as medical centers but as complicated urban forces. Michael O. Johnston, Ph.D. is a Assistant Professor of Sociology at William Penn University. He is the author of The Social Construction of a Cultural Spectacle: Floatzilla (Lexington Books, 2023) and Community Media Representations of Place and Identity at Tug Fest: Reconstructing the Mississippi River (Lexington Books, 2022). His general area of study is about the construction of identity and place. He is currently conducting research for his next project that looks at nightlife and the emotional labor that is performed by bouncers at bars and nightclubs. To learn more about Michael O. What is the fucking, I'm just curious now. Like, what is the job like Hey at, um, it's different for every level. So the entity, it depends on the entity. I mean, I was hiring across, I'm hiring across the board by the way. If anyone's interested in a job, lemme know. Um, there you go. Just like a little plug. 21:00 Hey guys, welcome to none of your business podcasts, and today is Memorial Day and I just want to take a second to honor everyone who has served. Um, law enforcement into any branch in the military, firefighters, EMTs, anyone who has died to fight in the honor of this country and their families. So I just want to thank you. 33:00 I feel you. I feel you. I think that, like for a guy I'll give, I'll give the gentleman listening with tidbit. Just be like a true gentleman. Like open the door, make the plan. There's nothing worse than going out with someone asking you out and be then being like, so what do you wanna do? I don't know. You asked me out. Tell me, women, like as much as we like to, and this be empowered and make our own money and do all that, which everyone should, if that's there, you know, chosen prerogative. Um, I think it's nice when a guy has the courtesy to like, take the lead on a first d you know, and like pick the place and pick it out. 39:00 I'm like, I love you. And they're like, well, you're fucking weird. Fucking can't get the fuck outta here. And I'm like, what am I doing wrong? Uh, so lots of, lots and lots of working on myself and trying to find out what works and what doesn't work. And like, like I said, I'm recovering addict, an alcoholic. And I said, people who are on apps are not always single facts. They're not always single. So you don't know what you're getting and you can get catfish and all this other stuff. But I think it's just having a level of confidence. Just go. Up to someone. I had someone approach me once in a crosswalk, like the light was turning green. 54:00 Nice. And I nearly bit his head off because he like came up, it was like 10 o'clock at night in the crosswalk in Manhattan. Oh, well he's like, I was like, fair enough. Yeah. I'd rather meet somebody in person. Like yes. Yeah. That's just me. But I mean, I think that a compliment always works. Hmm. Like, hey, love your smile. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/noneofyourbusiness/support

Bonus episode of what went down Saturday night. Im still healing over here. Hoping I'll feel back to myself in a few days. The pain I endured on Saturday night was no joke. Im doing some research and I'll be discussing with my oncologist in regards to my hormone blocking meds and if I want to continue. I feel like Im already doing SO many things to keep the breast cancer away, but I know this drug can be beneficial... But unfortunatley comes with a bunch of side affects. Fair warning: This episode goes heavy on the vino. We indulged in a few too many glasses before we sat down for this Oscar preview, and things get a little goofy. I'll be honest, this one was a challenge to edit. Still, we do breakdown the Oscar favorites, as best we can. The post An Overserved Oscar Preview for 2022 appeared first on Cinemavino.
Rocco and Jason make the best of this week in limbo before Dawn returns. Jason tells a story from a trip to Florida with Colleen. Plus, a hilarious birthday prank involving Satan that got a listener fairly heated.

We are back with a jam-packed episode for what might just be the best college football slate of the year. We pulled out all of the stops with a LEGIT celebrity Cameo and another pick for our surest thing in sports King of the Hill contest, which is a REMARKABLE 1-12 ATS overall. For real. It's borderline concerning. IG/Twitter: @BYBWpodcast
Loper learned that Randi's friends were "over-served" at the Great Summer Smokeout. Where the hell is this Van Gogh exhibit? MGK and Corey Taylor are having a feud. A friend of the show, Jo Koy, and Chelsea Handler are now a thing. Plus, Treadmill Trivia, KFC smugglers, the border, Gabby Petito, Eric Clapton's hypocrisy and more!

Iggy Azalea twerked in a G-string and got a lap dance from a stripper in the X-rated music video for new single Sip It – which is so raunchy it rivals WAP. Daily Mail (UK) said in the video clip, the 30-year-old twerks in a convenience store while wearing a sheer, multi-coloured bodysuit and G-string. The Australian rapper showed off her new neon green hair style, and she says the new look is for her upcoming single “Sip It,” featuring Tyga, released with another new song “Brazil.” Azalea and Tyga previously teamed up on “Kream” from her 2018 EP Survive the Summer. The 30-year-old rapper – who announced the arrival of her son Onyx with ex-boyfriend Playboi Carti last June – admitted she feared she would need a lot of cosmetic work to regain her figure. Speaking on the E! network's ‘Overserved with Lisa Vanderpump', Iggy said: “I thought I'd have to get lots of plastic surgery, but then I didn't have to get any. I didn't get a stomach that I'd need to hide, and then with COVID, I was just like, ‘I'll just keep it a secret. I don't have to go outside'.” She said: “I knew straight away. He was a planned baby. I just wondered if I would want to have more than one child, so I thought that maybe I should figure that out before I'm as old as dust.” And she joked about the baby looking like her, explaining he couldn't possibly have her nose as she “had to switch her out”. Iggy said: “Everybody kept telling me, ‘He's a handsome one!' and I was like, ‘Is he really, though?', He has no eyebrows. “Sometimes people say, ‘Oh, he has your nose,' and I'm like, ‘No, he doesn't. I had to switch her out. It's cute that you think mine looks like his'.” From Publisher: Crow River Media Iggy Azalea Feared Bald In Juicy Bikini Going pillow-lipped and with matte makeup matching her bronzed body, Iggy threw out the famous figure and her tattoos, then name-dropping Kardashian-adored sweatpants brand Juicy Couture, writing: “Juicy Foreverrrr.” Over 500,000 likes were left, alongside what looked like a prevalent theme in the comments section. “Thought you went [bald emoji] for a second lol,” one fan wrote. “THE WAY I THOUGHT YOU SHAVED YOUR HEAD,” another added, with a third fan saying: “Thought u was bald for a sec.” See the second photo below. The comments just kept on coming. “Don't play wimme like that I thought you was bald wife,” one user said. “OH I THOUGHT YOU WAS GIVING BALD IGGY” also came in. Azalea has not responded to the remarks, but she has been joking about her snap-back figure on Twitter, this week writing : “Had a baby bounced back like I'm 23.” Iggy welcomed her son following a secret pregnancy. She shares her son with 24-year-old rapper Playboi Carti, from whom she split in late 2020 . See more photos after her baby! Iggy has been big-time trashing her baby daddy on Twitter, alleging cheating and that Carti abandoned his own son at Christmas. “Imagine not flying out your family on Christmas but you have the girl you cheated on my my entire pregnancy at your album party and magically me and my son can't come for Christmas any more? TRASH,” she wrote. From Publisher: The Blast

Emily Rose gives a quick reaction to the (albeit boring) KUWTK Series Finale Premiere, and begs the question "What does this family owe us?". She also (as usual) links some very suspicious facts to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, then reviews Lisa Vanderpump's "Overserved"! Support the show
