Part 1 starts with a preliminary debunking of common Satanic ritual misconceptions, an overview of the "whys" and "hows" of Satanic ritual, some history on the book itself, an initial peek into the book's contents, and a look at the general underlying human urge for ritual.  https://satansplain.com https://satansplain.locals.com/support 00:00 - Intro 03:49 - Reminder: Satanism is not Inverted Christianity 09:18 - Humans dig ritual / Annoying Questions We Get 13:18 - Explaining metaphors to the idiots who still don't get it 20:13 - Excerpt from "The Rite Stuff" 22:04 - Infernal Names, John's Letter 28:09 - The Satanic Rituals: About Publishing 31:17 - Reminder: Don't Die a Group Ritual Virgin 34:50 - The Satanic Rituals: Release

Holsworthy mark Podcast Show..Number 1 in Devon England

The film opens during Caesar's invasions of Britain, with Mark Antony (Sid James) struggling to lead his armies through miserable weather. At a nearby village, cavemen Horsa (Jim Dale) and Hengist Pod (Kenneth Connor) attempt to alert Boudica to the invasion, but are captured by the Romans. Once in Rome, Horsa is sold by the slave-trading firm Marcus et Spencius, and Hengist is destined to be thrown to the lions when no-one agrees to buy him. Horsa and Hengist escape and take refuge in the Temple of Vesta. Whilst hiding there, Julius Caesar (Kenneth Williams) arrives to consult the Vestal Virgins, but an attempt is made on his life by his bodyguard, Bilius (David Davenport). In the melee, Horsa kills Bilius and escapes, leaving Hengist to take the credit for saving Caesar's life and to be made Caesar's new bodyguard. When a power struggle emerges in Egypt, Mark Antony is sent to force Cleopatra (Amanda Barrie) to abdicate in favour of Ptolemy. However, Mark Antony becomes besotted with her, and instead kills Ptolemy off-screen to win her favour. Cleopatra convinces Mark Antony to kill Caesar and become ruler of Rome himself so that they may rule a powerful Roman-Egyptian alliance together. After seducing one another, Mark Antony agrees, and plots to kill Caesar. Caesar and Hengist travel to Egypt on a galley, along with Agrippa (Francis de Wolff), whom Mark Antony has convinced to kill Caesar. However, Horsa has been re-captured and is now a slave on Caesar's galley. After killing the galley-master (Peter Gilmore), Horsa and the galley slaves kill Agrippa and his fellow assassins and swim to Egypt. Hengist, who had been sent out to fight Agrippa and was unaware of Horsa's presence on board, again takes the credit. Once at Cleopatra's palace, an Egyptian soothsayer (Jon Pertwee) warns Caesar of the plot to kill him, but Mark Anthony convinces Caesar not to flee. Instead, Caesar convinces Hengist to change places with him, since Cleopatra and Caesar have never met. On meeting, Cleopatra lures Hengist, who accidentally exposes both Cleopatra and Mark Anthony as would-be assassins. He and Caesar then ally with Horsa, and after defeating Cleopatra's bodyguard Sosages (Tom Clegg) in combat, Hengist and the party flee Egypt. Caesar is returned to Rome, only to be assassinated on the Ides of March. Horsa and Hengist return to Britain, and Mark Antony is left in Egypt to live "one long Saturday night" with Cleopatra.

The spin of cooking show from MasterChef Australia was announced at Network 10's UP-FRONTS in October 2022 and a second series has also been commissioned for 2024, with hosts Melissa Leong and Amour Guichon returning to the kitchen. The series already feels like a staple on our screens and you would really have to wonder who they will get next year. Rhiann will share her thoughts on the judges popularity and how Melissa and Amoury have influenced her cooking.  We will go behind that last cook with Rhiann's piggy bank and what she really thought of Kristen Tiballs cooking up the same idea. This week's episode is a long one but it's a pretty special conversation with one of my first post-collegiate running heroes, Peter Gilmore—who, incredibly and ironically enough, is now my teammate on the West Valley Track Club Masters racing team. In the early 2000s Peter was one of the top marathoners in the U.S. He finished 10th at the 2005 Boston Marathon and later that year represented the U.S. in the marathon at the world championships in Finland. The next year he finished 7th at Boston in a personal best 2:12:45. I didn't know him at the time but I looked up to Peter from afar because he was everything I wanted to be in the sport: a scrappy underdog, a guy who wasn't a star in college, he didn't have a shoe contract, but he busted his butt and became really good. In this conversation, we talked about all of that but what I was really interested in was his path back to the competitive side of the sport a few years ago after an 8-year break from serious training and racing. We got into how and why he came back in 2018, as well as why he retired in 2010 in the first place, and that part of the conversation went in a direction I didn't expect it to go. We also talked about what's different for him now as a Masters athlete now versus when he was younger, what it was like spending six weeks training in Kenya right after college and what he learned from that experience, and a whole lot more. As an eighth grader, Brett Gotcher viewed running as a tool to improve his conditioning for basketball. Under the tutelage of Aptos High School coach Dan Gruber, he began to improve, seeing the possibility of cross country and track becoming his new focus. Brett became a dominant force, eying the potential of a way to pay for college. This Watsonville, California native enjoyed a stellar high school career, winning four consecutive SCCAL championships in the 3200m, three in the 1600m, and posting the 12th fastest high school 10,000 meters in US history. After a self-described lack luster college career at Stanford, Brett was inspired to continue running post collegiately.  After graduation he was encouraged by a former teammate to accept an invitation from coach Greg McMillan, who was starting an elite distance running club in Flagstaff, Arizona. Under Greg's guidance, support from his training partners, and the Flagstaff community, Brett enjoyed training and rekindled his competitive fire. He shares his low moment of not finishing the 2016 US Olympic Marathon Trails. Subsequently, a meeting with Brian DeDiego, a friend and coach at a rival high school encouraged him to begin a new career as a real estate agent. Brett has converted his ability to connect with people, hard work, and attention to detail in his real estate business as co-founder of the Santa Cruz Real Estate Team.  Brett was a member of the 2008 US World Championship Half Marathon Team; 2009 US World Championship Cross Country Team; and  USA 20k National Champion. In the 2010 Houston Marathon he ran the 4th fastest debut in US history, finishing in 2:10:36. He was also an alternate for the 2012 London Olympic Marathon, finishing 5th in the Olympic Trials posting 2:11:09. I had so much fun catching up with this humble champion. Join Carl for discussions on philosophy at TheNewPolis.com To find out more about Carl Rashke and his great work, please visit his website. Or by email - carl.raschke@du.edu Carl on Satanism; There was a whole PR campaign to try to sanitize what was happening, and I was the target of a lot of these groups because I had the kind of intellectual authority. Satanism was not my thing. I knew a lot about it. I'd heard a lot about it on the ground, the narrative that let's call the PR campaign, which is pushed by, I would say, less than reputable academics who were just kind of in it to protect themselves and protect their research clients. I'm not saying there was necessarily a thing corrupt about it, though. There have been rumors that occasionally there were, you know, it's, it's, it's kind of like the tobacco industry, you know, tried to tell you, you know, in the early days, you know, tobacco is not as harmful as they're saying. So what they did was they got the road authorities together, and they created this narrative. That Satanism was a panic, you know, based on the idea of a moral panic, that term was posed by a guy. I can't remember his name, but it was called satanic panic. It came out in the nineties. It was a sociological term that basically tried to look at the whole phenomenon as if it were just a bunch of spooked out people who didn't really understand what was going on, who were panicking. I mean, that's totally false because the thing emerged kind of organically and slowly the go back to Satanism mean. There is no such thing as Satanism per se. Just like there is no such thing as Christianity per se, but that's, that was always the argument. You're talking about Peter Gilmore, by the way, when you mentioned the church of Satan, did you? I had a kind of debate with him on the TV back in the early nineties. There have been all sorts of schisms and arguments, and everybody was calling themselves Satanists. Etiology there that there must be this pure thing, purity you call Satanism, which you know, is being slandered and abused and blah, blah, blah. And you know, so the whole thing was just, you know, literally a shit show. Uh, and, uh, I got caught up in the middle of that and the book I didn't expect that I was just trying to honestly write from, uh, the notes and the interviews and the stuff I read, you know? And you had everything from Anton. The Church of Satan, I was told by Anton Lavey's daughter, Carla, who I met at a time, that he actually had a copy of the book and liked it. I don't know if that's true, but then there was Michael Aquino, who I guess is dead now.

When Lennox Hastie popped into the studio for the first time explaining that he was in Australia looking for a place to host his first restaurant, Malcolm remembers not thinking too much about the whole thing and when Lennox came back 12 months later, Malcolm had completely forgotten who he was. Fast forward to 2020, and the relationship between a chef and potter has developed so much so, that Malcolm's craftware was featured and used in the new Lennox Hastie Chefs Table documentary series, BBQ. A moment Malcolm remembers, was spent celebrating in the backyard with friends and family.  But Malcolm's journey started full time back in 1990, after leaving the corperate world behind to pursue Pottery. It has had it's ups and downs, including dealing with the dry up of local ceramics due to cheaper asian exports in 2006-08, which lead to Malcolm reaching out to different clientele in Sydney. This led to the eventual strong relationships between Brent Savage and Peter Gilmore, making Malcolm involved in the craftsmanship behind restaurants including Bentley restaurant, Firedoor, Quay, Bennelong and much more. We sit and chat about his early life and influences growing up in America, how restaurants collaborate with him, and the future of pottery in Australia during this unwavering time. It's a great light chat about Malcolm's consistent ambition to make his passion work, so be sure to tune in. Music By Charlie Fester. Follow @roots_hospitality on instagram for more on the latest guest and soundbites.

Angie Prendergast-Sceats once was an olive oil judge, where she had to watch out for vintages that tasted like "rancid feet" and "baby vomit" (such references really did appear on the flavour chart that's deployed in these contests). But for the last three years, she's been the culinary director and head chef of Two Good, which used recipes by top chefs (Peter Gilmore, Christine Manfield, Ben Shewry) to create soups and salads that would be sent to women in domestic violence shelters. You'd order two soups: keep one and the other would be donated to someone in a refuge. The food was cooked by women from shelters, who were paid above-award wages to do so. In her role, Angie would oversee this work – and there some memorable/hilarious times when they did their cooking in a nightclub's not-so-conventional kitchen – and she also ran Two Good's Work Work program, training long-term unemployed women, refugees and disenfranchised people to help them get jobs. It was far from the aggressive stereotype of a kitchen where you could yell at someone to hurry up with the carrots; in working with people who might not know how to hold a knife or are still dealing with trauma, cooking 1000 meals a week is a different kind of challenge. We also talk about Angie's recipes – which appear in the new Two Good cookbook, her memorable trips to Japan (where she had nine bowls of ramen in five hours and visited a 1000-year-old miso shop) and what she's doing next with her Angie's Food enterprise.

Sweet and sour cane-toad legs. Multiple cat recipes. A deadly cocktail you're not meant to serve. These are some of the fascinating (and deliberately provocative) things you'll find in Eat The Problem, the 544-page book by American artist and curator Kirsha Kaechele. It's part cookbook and art project, with an impressive list of collaborators (including chefs Dominique Crenn, Peter Gilmore, Christine Manfield and Enrique Olvera) and pages that are filled with creative ways of dealing with invasive species (pig's eyeball margaritas or starfish-on-a-stick, anyone?). Eat The Problem is also the inspiration behind an exhibition of the same name at MONA, Hobart (running until September 2) and a guest dinner series happening on August 6 at Melbourne's Vue de Monde, Byron Bay's Harvest on August 7 and Brisbane's Urbane on August 8. Kirsha is the perfect candidate for imaginatively addressing pests, given that she grew up on Guam, which was overrun with brown snakes – the "rock star of invasive species". They even landed coverage in The New York Times and inspired WTF solutions (paracetamol-laced mice were dropped from parachutes to deal with the snake problem). Also, her wedding dress was made out of invasive deer, she carries a cane toad purse and thinks we should make candles using fat from culled animals. Thinking sustainably comes naturally to her and it was her plan to hold a zero-waste food market at MONA in 2013 that helped kickstart the Eat The Problem project. Kirsha is fascinating to talk to and she approaches the issue of sustainability like no one else – instead of being overly serious and dour, she addresses environmental issues with plenty of invention and an unmissably bright palette (the feasts that launched the Eat The Problem exhibition, after all, took place on the world's biggest rainbow-coloured glockenspiel). Even her cutlery designs, which force people to share their food or feed someone across the table, are meant to provoke conversation and social interactions. She also talks about her 24 Carrot Gardens Project and her favourite places to eat and drink in Hobart (and Sydney, too).
