Here's the revised summary with the name corrected: Podcast Episode #138: "The Big Domino" Host: Damion Lupo In this episode of Financial Underdogs, Damion Lupo explores the concept of the "big domino"—the pivotal choice or action that sets off a chain reaction to transform your life. Reflecting on his own journey, Damion shares practical strategies to identify and leverage your big domino for a more intentional and impactful life. Key Takeaways: Identify Your Big Domino: Recognize the one decision or habit that can trigger profound change. For Damion, giving up alcohol in 2024 was the domino that set his transformation in motion. The Power of a Coach or Mentor: Invest in a world-class coach, mentor, or therapist who provides honest feedback and helps you see blind spots. This is a vital relationship for growth and clarity—potentially more significant than many others in your life. Clean Fuel, Clean Life: Prioritize clean eating and minimize harmful substances like alcohol and processed foods. What you consume impacts your energy, focus, and overall health. Leverage a World-Class Integrator: Hire an executive assistant or integrator to handle tasks and free up your mental energy for strategic thinking. Offloading tasks allows you to focus on vision and creativity rather than logistics. Set Boundaries to Protect Your Time and Energy: Create clear boundaries to guard against "vampires" who drain your time and energy. Value your time as your most prized possession and use it intentionally. Live by Design, Not Default: Be mindful of your choices and surroundings, consciously designing your life rather than reacting to others' agendas. Use tools, systems, and boundaries to stay focused on your goals and priorities. Damion closes the episode by encouraging listeners to embrace simplicity and clarity in 2025. By identifying and focusing on your big domino, you can unlock a domino effect of positive changes. Hey y'all! Welcome back to Design for the Creative Mind! Today, I'm diving into a question that came straight from Instagram—thanks to Louise from Design in Ireland. She reached out with a great one: "How can interior designers set boundaries with flat-fee clients who sometimes get a bit too comfortable asking for extra time?" Here's a peek at what I cover in this solo episode: Sales Process Essentials: I break down my client process, from initial calls to meet-and-greets. It's all about educating clients upfront on how we work and setting boundaries from day one. The Power of the Scope of Work: Having a detailed scope is everything. I'll share how we make sure our clients understand what's included—and what's not. This scope can also help clients understand why changes can lead to additional costs. Leveraging the Contract: I talk about using our Letter of Agreement (a friendly contract) to reinforce expectations. This doc lays out unique clauses, like only showing the best option for each item, limits on revisions, and the number of site visits included. Scheduling & Time Management: Pre-scheduling meetings has been a lifesaver for both my team and our clients. It keeps us on track and gives clients a sense of urgency without feeling rushed. Adding a Contract End Date: I explain why we include a project timeline so clients stay motivated, and so we have a framework if the project takes longer than expected. Tracking Data for Better Flat Fees: It's a must to track how much time each task really takes. I share how I use that data to refine our flat fees and ensure they work for us financially. I hope this helps! And to anyone else with burning questions about the business of design, I'd love to hear from you. If you shoot over your questions, I'll either devote an episode to your topic or gather a few for a "What Would Michelle Do?" segment! Today our conversation dives deep into a strategy we teach in Cowgirls Over Coffee called “The Umbrella Focus”. Lana and I share how using this strategy allows us to manage our priorities that are aligned with how we're feeling and what is most important. The Umbrella Focus helps us prepare for what's coming by sorting things into priorities and objectives while alleviating the guilt and shame of things outside of the umbrella that purposefully won't get done right now. So many things derail us from feeling productive or meeting our expectations on long-term goals because we're not giving ourselves permission to prioritize different things at different times. Imagine waking up at 2am and everything on your to-do list immediately floods your head … then, you close your eyes, lay your head back down and drift back to sleep. There's no self-doubt or doom spiral, because you are confident that your to-do list is aligned with both your daily demands and long-term ambitions, and tomorrow will take care of itself.
