In this Friday Headline Brief of The Wright Report, Bryan tracks fresh Iranian missile attacks on US merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz, even as Washington and Tehran reportedly agree to a 60-day ceasefire extension. Bryan walks through the strange split-screen of war and optimism, with US stock markets hitting all-time highs and Southwest Airlines reporting strong consumer demand, while Trump's approval numbers still sag under the weight of the Iran conflict and lingering inflation. He also breaks down a chilling Reuters report that adversaries are buying US service members' digital exhaust on the open market, and delivers a scathing insider analysis of the David Rush case, the former CIA officer who allegedly conned the Agency out of $40 million in gold bars and cash, with Bryan tying it back to the CIA's broken recruitment philosophy of hiring C students. Plus, Bryan closes the week with a deep look at the Quantum Revolution, why Trump just steered $2 billion to IBM and others, and why whoever masters quantum computing first may end up master of the planet. Today's episode is the first of three conversations with ISF CEO Steve Durbin around the coming impact of technological development on society and business. We know that new technologies have always tested organisations, and technological innovation and integration into our lives and enterprises — it's only accelerating. We offer an analysis of potential future scenarios, as well as practical tips for what organisations can do now to prepare. Key Takeaways: 1. Organisations must prioritise supporting smaller entities in keeping up with the fast pace of technological change. 2. Security can deliver competitive advantage, but implementation challenges persist, and security risks can become low priority in a fast-paced tech landscape. 3. Organisations face pressure to modernise technology while managing legacy systems and regulatory demands. 4. CEOs must balance competing priorities, including ESG initiatives, employee expectations, and shareholder demands. 5. Political developments may force organisations to respect local restrictions on technologies. 6. Organisations are advised to protect crown jewels, ensure data protection, and monitor supply chain partners. 7. Organisations must prepare for quantum-proof encryption and socialise policies for AI use. Tune in to hear more about: 1. The impact of technological innovation on business and society, with a focus on adoption challenges and timing (0:00) 2. Security risks in technology innovation and adoption (1:29) 3. The impact of quantum computing on cybersecurity and the need for organizations to prioritize legacy technology updates (6:59) 4. Volatility, uncertainty, and technological change in the security industry (12:45) 5. How technology innovations can disrupt and improve organizations (18:22) 6. Managing innovation in a rapidly challenging digital landscape (20:40) 7. Limitations of accessing powerful technologies due to restrictions, threats, and security concerns (26:12) 8. Emerging threats and risks in technology, including quantum computing, AI, and legacy systems (32:18) Standout Quotes: 1. “Organisations could certainly find themselves cut off from the supercharged processing power, because it may be developed by a government for its own ends and restricted, expensive, all of those sorts of things, so that it effectively becomes unavailable. And I think organisations, despite all of that, are going to have to operate in the shadow of this massive computing power shift when it comes about as the pace of change accelerates, innovations proliferate, traditional life cycles of technology shorten.” - Steve Durbin 2. “If we're going to have smaller organisations within our overall ecosystem, we need to be just sparing a bit of a thought for how they might be keeping up with such a fast pace of change and how we're going to support them in continuing to meet some of the standards and bars that were setting, so that everybody benefits, frankly.” - Steve Durbin 3. “So the world is also reshaping, as we're introducing AI into what we're doing. And so again, I think that the challenge from the business perspective, from the security perspective, from the technology perspective, is really about: how do you focus on what is important for your organisation, for your people, for your customers, in a world that is constantly now changing? And the speed of that change is only going to get faster. And we haven't seen that before.” - Steve Durbin 4. “So you're in a much better position, if you can control your innovations irrespective of what's going on. But you're never going to be able, I think, to divorce yourself completely from the market, because you operate in the market. And so the speed at which the market is evolving is going to, I think, determine — to a certain extent, anyway — your success in managing your own innovation, so you may need to be innovating more quickly than you're comfortable, just in order to try to keep up.” - Steve Durbin Mentioned in this episode: ISF Analyst Insight Podcast ISF Podcast: Data Dilemmas: Outsmarting the perils of AI Read the transcript of this episode Subscribe to the ISF Podcast wherever you listen to podcasts Connect with us on LinkedIn and Twitter From the Information Security Forum, the leading authority on cyber, information security, and risk management.

Gather round, me hearties, and attend the tale of Pierre-Simon Laplace--a demon-haunted man. This is a story I've been itching to tell for a while, about the birth of quantum physics and the revenge of the Atomic Swerve. It stretches all the way back to Marcus Aurelius and all the way forward to the AI revolution, with some incredible tea to spill along the way (including a cameo from Napoleon). Georgia Tech just announced that the world's first graphene semiconductor can be used for Quantum Computing, while at the same time China and Russia announce that they are able to have unhackable communication through quantum technology. Brain Science with Ginger Campbell, MD: Neuroscience for Everyone
In the this episode of Brain Science we talk with neuroscientist Kevin Mitchell about his new book Free Agents: How Evolution Gave Us Free Will. While many neuroscientists and philosophers argue that free will is an illusion, Mitchell argues that the ability to make meaningful choices is part of our evolutionary heritage. He also addresses the important issue of determinism, siding with those physicists who argue that the fundamental nature of our universe is NOT deterministic. These issues are crucial to how we see ourselves and others. Links and References: Free Agents: How Evolution Gave Us Free Will by Kevin J. My jaw dropped when I heard "mow the back 40."I was working on my Quantum Human Design certification, and the teacher, Karen Curry Parker, was telling a story about how she had a Projector client who grew up on a ranch and had to mow the back 40 acres. This task is exceedingly hard for Projectors (like myself!) because we do not have the energy to sustain this kind of work.My body froze when I heard her story because when I was a kid growing up on a family farm, my job was also literally to "mow the back 40." “We are at a choice point as a humanity. Are we going to continue to play sides and think that if we go toward one path that we have to get rid of another one? Or are we going to take a step back and really explore what it means to see, for example, healing and medicine from multiple perspectives? And truly integrate them for whole person healing.” - Dr. Shamini Jain, psychologist, scientist, founder and CEO of the Consciousness and Healing Initiative™ (CHI), and today's guest on Quantum Revolution with Karen Curry Parker. It doesn't just take time to change systems. It takes time to change minds. Systems AND people are suspicious by nature. Imagine a world where our medical system doesn't just treat the symptoms of distress but tackles the root of distress. Imagine a health care system that treats the whole person, even the whole family in some cases. A health care system that is accessible to everyone and supports sustainable, long-term healing. Join Dr. Shamini Jain and Karen Curry Parker for a powerful conversation about healing and the evolution of medicine. “The reality, Karen, is that there's a battle unfolding on many levels. We all know there's a battle for our thoughts. That's no secret. There's a battle for our beliefs, what we believe about ourselves, and our relationship to the world. That's no secret. There is a deeper battle that is less recognized by many people even in our genre, and it is a battle for our very humanness.” - Gregg Braden, author, educator, internationally renowned pioneer of bridging spirituality and science, and today's guest on Quantum Revolution. We are at a global crossroads. We can be deliberate and aware, steering the path that we take as we grow forward - or not. Our attention and intention influences how we walk the path of our growth and the quality of the future we create. The world is looking to you to be a part of engineering the way forward. It starts first with you - by healing the karma of your self-worth and the value you place on yourself. By doing this, you can create with intentions and higher frequencies of energy that support the peaceful and sustainable evolution of the planet. You are a vital, irreplaceable part of the evolution of the world. Join Karen and Gregg on this powerful conversation about how to heal our planet - by first healing ourselves. Tech companies including Google, Microsoft and IBM are all working on plans for a commercially viable quantum computer. They say that these machines will be able to solve climate change, help develop new pharmaceutical drugs and transform our economy. But harnessing quantum physics requires overcoming massive challenges. As researchers tinker away on uber-sensitive, ultra-cold quantum computers and investors become increasingly interested in the potential commercial applications – some people in the quantum computing world aren't buying the hype.In this episode of Tech Tonic, FT innovation editor John Thornhill travels to the West Coast to visit Julie Love and Krysta Svore, both of Microsoft's quantum computing programme, and tours Google's quantum computing lab with engineer Erik Lucero. We hear from Bessemer Venture Partners' investor David Cowan, and FT artificial intelligence editor Madhumita Murgia talks to long-time quantum computing researcher Sankar Das Sarma.Presented by Madhumita Murgia and John Thornhill, produced by Josh Gabert-Doyon and Edwin Lane. In the cybersecurity world they call it Q-Day, the day when a quantum computer will be built that can break the encryption of the internet.John Thornhill and Madhumita Murgia speak to cybersecurity expert and former professional hacker Mark Carney about password cracking, and why quantum computers would be so good at it.Renowned mathematician Peter Shor recounts how he became the first person to discover that quantum computers could upturn the encryption that underpins much of the internet. Jack Hidary, boss of the quantum technology company Sandbox AQ, tells us how quantum computers already pose a threat today, even if it's decades before one powerful enough to threaten encryption will be built. And cryptographer Dan Bernstein explains why protecting ourselves from the quantum threat might just be down to better maths.Presented by Madhumita Murgia and John Thornhill, produced by Josh Gabert-Doyon and Edwin Lane. Join us in the BreakLine Arena for a conversation with Jack Hidary, CEO of Sandbox AQ, an enterprise SaaS company combining AI + Quantum to solve the hardest problems facing society.Opportunities in quantum are vast, as are the revolutionary applications of quantum tech in solving the world's greatest challenges. In today's episode, Jack joins the BreakLine Arena to discuss the third quantum revolution and its real-world applications and implications. Jack breaks down the fundamentals of quantum, explaining its history and its role in our world today and in the future. He shares a myriad of quantum-related job opportunities (no, you don't have to have a PhD). Jack also explains the quantum divide and how SandboxAQ is actively working to bring a diversified talent base into the field. “The universe, at its fundamental level, does not work the way that we humans think it works. About 96% of our universe is unknown. Quantum technologies will be the make or break in drug discovery, clean energy, in cybersecurity, and in so many other key aspects of our society.” Please like, rate, subscribe, or review our show if you've liked what you've heard!
